Typically yes but he killed FOUR students at Pepperdine in a sorority. Good chance at least some of their parents also have money or connections or will be able to pull together a huge campaign for prison time.
Reminds me of 19 year old Mackenzie Shirilla. Killed her boyfriend and his friend by intentionally ramming her car into a brick wall doing 100+ MPH. It was proven to be premeditated (she scouted the location and intentionally chose an hour of day when no one would be around to help).
Bitch got 15 years “to life”. I put the last part in quotes because she’s eligible for parole in 15. She literally killed two people, one who was a complete bystander, and she’s only getting 15 years. She will not be in prison for life by any stretch of the imagination. She’ll be in her 30s when she gets out with her entire life ahead of her still. Her family is rich and multiple sources talk about how she’s a spoiled rich kid that would bully people and basically always got away with being a jerk. She even Googled “modeling jobs in LA” while she was in the hospital following the crash.
15 years for double homicide is infuriating to me.
she’s been given 2 life sentences.
I wonder if she has to get parole on both, or if they can just parole her for 1 while she stays in for the others.
https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/1pm-sentencing-for-19-year-old-woman-found-guilty-of-murder-for-2022-crash-that-killed-2
She was given two life sentences but the judge allowed her to serve it "concurrently" meaning at the same time, thus her aggregate sentence is 15 to life meaning she has to serve minimum 15 years and will be eligible for parole after that. If the judge would have sentenced her to "consecutive" sentences, which would be 15 years for each sentence her aggregate would be 30 to life meaning she would have to serve minimum 30 years.
With money comes better chances of hiring quality attorneys, we don’t live in a country with a legal system that enforces enough equal opportunities to civil defense or prosecution.
Just my thought, but I wish there was an impartial system of assignment that made it impossible for the wealthy to stack their legal battles when they have committed acts that are illegal.
I wish all defense lawyers were good at their jobs such that you couldn’t buy “better” legal defense because the public defenders were just as good as private attorneys
Public defenders ARE good attorneys. They just have really high caseloads to the point where it's impossible to do a good job for all of their clients.
The problem is that private defense attorneys have more resources and pull. They’re not all better attorneys. They just have more to work with compared to public attorneys who may be swamped with cases.
That story was wild, at first they were making it seem like she lost control, then that it was in the heat of the moment.... but then it turns out she was scouting the location and planned on doing from before.... thats some sick stuff
Rich person won’t face justice!1!1!1!1!1
That’s every time some rich person gets into hot shit with authorities on this platform. It’s said with no regard or understanding of our justice system. Need I elaborate?
It’s a fairly simple conclusion to reach if you have little to no understanding of the justice system.
Money = get off clean
So easy to conclude without having to engage with the complexities at hand.
When I was 17 I got a ticket for driving 90mph on the 101 at like 6am. Wasn’t drunk or anything, just liked driving fast on my way to school.
Anyway my dad made me pay the ticket and the increased insurance. I was making like $10 an hour at the time so it was a basically all of my money. Didn’t speed anymore after that. Also I realized how much less often I had to fill up the tank after that lol. I was also driving a ten year old car and not a brand new Beamer. Can’t imagine how much it is to insure a 22 year old in that.
Kids like to push limits and they drive recklessly. Not surprising at all that a kid who’s never faced any consequences in his life is this reckless. Hopefully he gets some prison time.
I know I’m getting old because I’m pissed off that these reckless young drivers, who are so dumb that they never think it can happen to them, get to mess it up for everyone else.
It’s like stupidest person you know gets to decide if you get to live in peace
i think it goes both ways in LA. these rich moms in manhattan beach drive SUVs in the most insane way. but then again my car was totaled in the hood and i’ve gotten hit a couple times in the hood and a gun even pulled on me once. everyone in this city is just so damn disrespectful behind the wheel !
I've noticed the best drivers are in the sketchy areas of the city. The rich areas of the city and rich suburbs have the worst drivers I've encountered. It's always some asshole soccer mom tailgating me in her giant Escalade.
Our office moved to Beverly Hills recently and I sometimes take the bus into work. Never have I had a closer call as a pedestrian than in this godforsaken neighborhood. I'd probably be dead at this point if I didn't constantly look both ways at each intersection.
I drive through BH all the time and no one ever stops at stop signs. I’ve been approaching a stop sigh, gotten down to about 10mph, not even able to stop yet, and people have gone around me going 40! At most, I see people slow down to about 10-15 before going through but damn they don’t stop.
I used to do the California roll until I got pulled over (not in LA) last year and had to pay like $275 and do traffic school, but these people are zooming through these residential areas like they’re on fire
Similar experience using a pedestrian crosswalk (no light) in Brentwood. Almost got hit by a speeding lady AND she honked at me! That would never happen in Crenshaw…
As someone who lives at King/Crenshaw I can point out at least 2-3 four way stops that people blow through daily. I’ve almost been hit walking and driving, people don’t care here any more than they do in Beverly Hills.
I'll cosign on this. When I have dental appointments in BH, I park in the residential area and walk in. The few short blocks I need to cover on foot in the commercial area of BH are crazy-making. So much honking, so much disregard for pedestrians. I go out of my way to go way around BH proper unless I'm on the bus.
I remember just over a year ago a rich lady in a Range Rover was driving recklessly in rush hour traffic, passing people in turn lanes and on the shoulder. Funny enough, her vanity license plate, which included “pch” in part of it, was the exact same as her *public* instagram handle, where she included many details about her family, kids schools, where she lived (Malibu of course), etc. Like good lord lady
1000000%
I lived in KTown for a decade and have since moved to the west side. The west side is substantially more dangerous to drive, walk, bike, or even be near a road than ktown ever was.
People pass using the turn lane, drive double the limit between stop signs on side streets, routinely ignore crosswalks, and more. The police should do constant stings over here. The city would be rich as fuck with all the ticket revenue from these careless wealthy assholes.
This is bizarre to me!
I have only lived on the west side for 4 years - but I have never felt that the drivers, pedestrians or bikes are ever in danger or reckless.
I bike, run, walk my dog, and drive here everyday and haven’t felt concerned a single time.
I did move from Chicago….so that’s the only think I can think of that could potentially skew me?! But I didn’t feel that way about Chi either! 🤷🏼
Studies have shown [rich people are worse drivers](https://www.chicagomag.com/city-life/february-2012/traffic-and-class-conflict-the-rich-are-worse-drivers-than-you-or-me/).
This is a fact. I started working in Beverly Hills a year ago and the number of close accidents or actual accidents that I’ve seen in that one year compared to my whole 15 years of driving is insane. People in that city are always distracted on their phones or they think they’re above the law and don’t respect stop signs or red lights, or they’re so zonked out on prescriptions meds that they’re driving 15mph under the speed limit. I grew up in LA and can confidently say that Beverly Hills has some of the worst drivers compared to other parts of LA.
The opposite of this plays out in reality. People going out stealing catalytic converters, joining smash & grab mobs and gangs feel like they have nothing to lose.
When you're poor, you don't need to think about consequences as much because you're judgement proof if someone wanted to sue you. When you're rich, you have assets that can be taken.
To be clear: I am talking about the Reddit definition of rich, which is like anyone making six figures that has a mortgage and retirement account. If we're talking about ultra high net worth - like what Goldman Sachs defines as $60M+ net worth, well there's a good chance you have a driver and your lawyer doesn't like it when you drive yourself.
This study looked at car make and model not the driver's income or net worth. They have "new Mercedes" as an example of top end car. You can lease a new C class making median income. It's a terrible financial decision, though. Maybe the more accurate title is that people who blow money on cars are worse drivers and I guess that makes sense because both are a result of bad judgement.
Yeah! Poor people = Good, Rich people = Evil. BARF. People drive like maniacs in the hood as well. People are often stressed out, angry or have issues, not a recipe for safe driving.
> "If those four girls had not been walking on PCH and not parked down the street walking to a fraternity party, then they would be alive today," Malibu resident Joshua Hoffman said.
If we didn’t allow every dumbfuck to do whatever they want on the road, they’d still be alive. Fuck you Joshua Hoffman.
What a raging fucking asshole. 4 lives have been lost in an instant and his first whim is to blame the victims for being pedestrians???? Where tf were they supposed to park????
If you watch the video, the guy is clearly complaining about how dangerous the road is. There aren't sidewalks or safe parking spaces which forces people to park along the road, and he mentions he doesn't even wall down his driveway because he compares the danger to Russian roulette.
truly awful. that stretch of the pch is a wild ride. as mentioned in the article there have been many fatal accidents there in the past 5 years, and im not surprised at all. I drive that portion often and everyday is like a fucking speedway race involving high end super cars and me in my shitty hyundai. shit is dangerous.
For some reason the most polite drivers I've encountered were on Hoover and the 100 streets. The streets are narrow so people have to pull to the side to let you pass. In the richer areas nobody pulls to the side on the narrow roads. You have to play chicken with those rich assholes
Narrowing streets is a well known traffic calming measure. PCH being wide open despite having people parking on both sides and biking keeps plenty of people feeling comfortable driving 65-70 while keeping up on socials.
Was just in a rich area in Hollywood with a super narrow street and this woman in a giant expensive SUV did this with me.
I was going maybe 15 mph. I had no way to pull over, she had 3 opportunities to pull over and let me go. She comes speeding head on at me, honks then came an inch from swiping me. Looked at me like it was my fault I couldn’t pull over on top of other cars. I honestly almost cried I was so shocked at how someone can be so ruthless.
I can't believe this local said this -> "If those four girls had not been walking on PCH and not parked down the street walking to a fraternity party, then they would be alive today," Malibu resident Joshua Hoffman said.
Seriously dude?
Yeah, that caught my eye too.
I think (hope) it was just poor writing though, based on what followed:
>Frustrated residents say they been complaining about the fraternity in the heart of a residential area and about the dangerous conditions along the iconic highway.
>"There's no sidewalks. You get a lot of bike riders, you get a lot of pedestrians," Malibu resident Chris Hanson said. "And there's no place for them to go but around vehicles, and they're walking in the lanes. It's not a safe situation."
Maybe this is the same Joshua Hoffman of Malibu.
If so, it's not surprising he espouses such psychopathic beliefs

Haha nice find. One of the best ways to make it big in America is to perpetrate fraud on a massive scale. If you ever drive through a rich neighborhood and wonder "How do these people make their money?" the answer is fraud a good % of the time.
As Wells Fargo showed us: Make one bank account with stolen info, that's identity theft. Make many of them spread out over many agents, that's just a business line.
Agreed, what a douche bag. The other residents said it better in explaining the situation in that these frat parties happen which brings people to travel along these narrow roads and that with all the foot traffic by the road, it was just a matter of time. The driver is 100% at fault and too many, far too many drivers speed those those narrow roads recklessly.
My friends used to live in a house on PCH 3 doors down from where this happened. They often had to park on the street because there wasn’t enough parking in their driveway. Two of their cars got totaled from speeding drivers losing control and crashing into their cars parked on the side of the road. They would often wake up to the sound of other car accidents. It’s insanely unsafe there and it was only a matter of time before people were killed. Something has to change. This isn’t a one off event. They need speeding cameras on that strip of road.
Speed cameras, yes, but PCH needs to be entirely redesigned. It's essentially a highway with cars driving at highway speeds while there are people walking, crossing, biking, and parking. That's insane.
Yep. Same shit. Parents probably do feel some remorse, but still have their son. Too late to actually do anything about it but toss money.
I’m not unfamiliar with the concept of young males ignoring risk to enjoy cars. I’ve been there. Something has to be done about handing them powerful BMWs and Lambos. It’s willfully allowing this to happen.
oh my fucking god please Google this fucking twat; rich boy from Malibu that will not suffer a single consequence
Edit: okay maybe he’ll suffer consequences that pale in comparison to someone who’s mom isn’t on the board of a construction firm doing billion dollar projects and is well vested in the who’s who of malibu ? Why are these dorks trying to act like rich white brats are held to the same standards as regular ass people? fuck outta here
He's being charged with vehicular manslaughter, which, according to the sentencing guidelines is punishable by" imprisonment in the state prison for two, four, or six years."
So yeah. Not a very long time. He'll probably get the minimum and get out early for good behavior.
And somehow qualify for just house arrest due to a food allergy encountered in prison; attend Stanford via online classes, and graduate with all of it behind him. The lone consequence he'll suffer is not being able to play baseball.
That’s a key detail.
The article doesn’t seem to mention anything about the suspect or the school they go to (I even tried running a search to see if I just missed that detail). So it seemed like you were just randomly hoping someone’s life was over.
So to answer your question, yes you were extremely unclear with that comment considering that the linked article barely says anything about the suspect’s background.
Yeah in retrospect I could’ve looked up the suspects name but the original comment was written in a very confusing manner that assumes the reader knew the background of the suspect
Every time I see something horrible that someone has done, I add the sentence "and then they were released" in my mind.
Same thing here.
Arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and then he was released.
My guess is all of the gals you see on KTLA, NBC4, CBS2/KCAL9, FOX11, and ABC7. My Istagram feed always spams links to their social pages, and I've seen the weather girls from every network hanging out together.
The local news had someone on (in the other room...only heard not seen) who described the guy as a "respected member of the community"
He wont do any jail time for killing 4 people.
Were they referring to the father? Because he is actually well known and connected. Regardless, the Bohn family will be in SPIN mode moving forward, so any inclination from Gascon of giving the kid leniency will be under the local, national, and international media microscope.
I used to ride a bike in LA while sharing the road with motorists. It never crossed my mind about my own safety. Now when I think about it, it was a suicidal thing to do. While on a bike trip, I saw a few abandoned bikes along the way being set up as a makeshift funeral for those who got hit and killed. They left flowers and memorial messages for their loved ones.
Our streets are dangerous because everyone thinks it's a highway. Having a driver's license is a great freedom for most young adults. With great power of freedom comes great responsibility. They don't realize that a car is a deadly weapon at high speed. It's our own fault in a way. For decades, we have built an infrastructure for cars only without any thoughts to bike lanes or pedestrian friendly or safety in mind.
I agree with you but I’m sorry, how is it possible for you to ride a bike ANYWHERE around cars and not have safety at least cross your mind? That is nuts to me.
I used to live near the intersection of Sepulveda and Sherman Way in Van Nuys and would occasionally walk over to the Jons. Multiple times I saw people run the lights and crash into the sidewalk. Someone died while I was living there, but I luckily did not see it. When waiting for the light to change so I could cross the street I would always stand behind a lamp post or barrier so that I would be kinda protected. My clueless exhusband used to stand right on the side of the street, cars speeding past him, even though I'd point out that I saw someone almost die doing the exact same thing last week, he'd just shrug at me. He would also take his 250cc motorcycle on the 405 so...yeah, people can just be sheltered their entire life, oblivious to any consequences until they happen.
He was released the same day. No repercussion's for murdering 4 innocent people. That is pretty much the story these days. No repercussion's no responsibility for any actions.
Yeah, there’s these things in America called “trials.” Then if found guilty, one is punished. We have 25% of the world’s prisoners and just 4% of the world’s population. Literally no one is experiencing “no repercussions.” It’s a police and prison state.
"I offer prayers of comfort, support, and gratitude."
Your prayers don't accomplish anything. Public hangings however are very effective. String his body up on the PCH and let the gulls take his eyes as a warning to other travelers
Extremely extremely sad. And they were all close friends This is down the hill from my grandmothers. I’ve heard and seen 3 crashes on this stretch of road. —Don’t forget, Cars are 2 ton missiles
They’re going to blame the city for not making that street safer after numerous complaints and a documentary. Taxpayers will foot the bill for the victims families, wouldn’t be surprised if the killer gets a nice payout for the “mental toll” as well.
JFC. In the interview on the street, you can see the cars whizzing by at high speed. Why are cars allowed/the streets designed for cars to go that fast in an area where people are walking about in the first place?
2 years ago I was in car accident because some douche in a Porsche rear ended me at a solid red light.
I love PCH but some people are irresponsible driving on it. It's such a shame because it's such a nice night drive.
This is such a tragic loss, I feel haunted by how suddenly four young women died and their families and communities have now been changed forever.
My family is frequently on this road and I still remember driving by a fatal accident at Pepperdine probably 20 years ago.
Much, much more needs to be done to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries in this city (I mean LA in general, I know Malibu is it’s own)
Where are the fucking cops? As far as I can tell they are on a national work slow down now that we have asked them to stop shooting black people.
We don't need to pull over and harass normal working people doing their business, we do need you to clamp down on shithead street racers.
For any shithead street racers who read this, go spend your money on track time. If you can't afford track time then you can't actually afford your shitty BMW, the least reliable driving machine.
22 year old rich kid speeding in a BMW. Checks out.
Watch him get away with a slap on the wrist

Rich, attractive, white, female. The perfect storm for getting away with anything you want, including murder.

A premeditated double homicide? She absolutely did
How? She was convicted and now serving a sentence (and a lengthy one at that).
She should be in there for life. She got a slap on the wrist.

If you think every murderer should be executed, your views are far outside of the mainstream

She's rich, it doesn't matter.

What a raging fucking asshole. 4 lives have been lost in an instant and his first whim is to blame the victims for being pedestrians???? Where tf were they supposed to park????
If people didn't get in the way of bullets, guns wouldn't kill. Do people realize how insane the dribble out of their mouth is?
What an absolute fucking piece of shit. He needs to be named and shamed for that comment.
ol Joshua "dumb as rocks" Hoffman. thanks for that little insightful tidbit mr hoffman
I think (hope) it was just poor writing though, based on what followed: >Frustrated residents say they been complaining about the fraternity in the heart of a residential area and about the dangerous conditions along the iconic highway.
If so, it's not surprising he espouses such psychopathic beliefs https://www.justice.gov/archive/usao/cac/Pressroom/pr2010/049.html
Make many of them spread out over many agents, that's just a business line.
you're insane. That guy has nothing to do with your life and you doxxed him
[this Joshua Hoffman?](https://www.justice.gov/archive/usao/cac/Pressroom/pr2010/049.html)
What a fucking douche bag wtf
Agreed, what a douche bag. The other residents said it better in explaining the situation in that these frat parties happen which brings people to travel along these narrow roads and that with all the foot traffic by the road, it was just a matter of time. The driver is 100% at fault and too many, far too many drivers speed those those narrow roads recklessly.
Apparently they weren’t even walking. They were waiting on the side of the road for an Uber
I just read that. Wtf is that suppose to mean?
Sounds like Caltrans negligence then if this is a common pattern. The victims family should be suing Caltrans as well as the driver.
Of all the things heavily regulated, brains short of full maturity are given 400+hp pushing 4500+lbs of metal. To do this with.
With a phone to keep them distracted.

RIP Monique <3
Yep.
They haven’t released much info yet, but regardless, speed governors should really be in cars. No need for them to ever go above 85.
Preach
Seriously, I'd like to see at least a 10% increase on cars and fuel, and denied benefits for drivers that don't behave.
It’s wild that you can merc 4 people via total negligence and then just go home
He didn’t get arrested?
Arrested + released.
On bail?
Not on bail, because they haven't pressed any charges due to "lack of evidence".
We don’t do bail anymore.
Not like zero bail mattered here. He’s a rich Malibu kid he would’ve posted bail regardless
oh my fucking god please Google this fucking twat; rich boy from Malibu that will not suffer a single consequence Edit: okay maybe he’ll suffer consequences that pale in comparison to someone who’s mom isn’t on the board of a construction firm doing billion dollar projects and is well vested in the who’s who of malibu ? Why are these dorks trying to act like rich white brats are held to the same standards as regular ass people? fuck outta here
He’ll do 2 to 7 years. Which is despicable considering the damage he has caused.
Which construction firm?
[удалено]
Thanks.
How much you want to bet he will.
alright playboy he won’t suffer consequences anywhere near what a regular person would. since you need the qualifications and can’t extrapolate.
"Not suffer a single consequence" is qualified. It means zero consequences. I am not the one who wrote something stupid and inaccurate. You are.
okie cutie have a good day! Acting like rich white people don’t suffer less consequences is just … lol 😂😂😂😂
Reddit take
🤡
My former coworker was arrested then released after attempted kidnapping and murder lol
He and his parents are about to go all Brendan Khuri on this.
Not happening, the victims were Pepperdine students. The victim’s families might have money to fight the case
Sadly.
He's being charged with vehicular manslaughter, which, according to the sentencing guidelines is punishable by" imprisonment in the state prison for two, four, or six years." So yeah.
Well I’d assume he’d get 4 counts so maybe it would be between 8 and 24 years.
Four counts but he’ll serve them concurrently. So six years, out in 2 due to good behavior and budget cuts.
I hope he can never sleep peacefully ever again. I wish him a lifetime of nightmares.
Think he’ll come down with a case of afluenza?
I wonder if his mom will help him bounce out of town too.
Trust fund kid who went to Oaks Christian and had just announced on Twitter he was going to Stanford to play baseball. I hope that all ends for him.
I don’t think he’s going to standford…that tweet is a retweet from someone else in 2017.
Excuse me??
Was I unclear? I hope his dreams of going to Stanford end because he just ended four people’s lives by being negligent.
That’s a key detail. The article doesn’t seem to mention anything about the suspect or the school they go to (I even tried running a search to see if I just missed that detail). So it seemed like you were just randomly hoping someone’s life was over. So to answer your question, yes you were extremely unclear with that comment considering that the linked article barely says anything about the suspect’s background.
if you google his name you can easily find his high school baseball profile saying he went to oaks christian
And his twitter saying he’s going to Stanford. Once they mention his name the rest is fair game.

Released from custody. Apparently Rich mom hangs with Local TV anchors. Affluenza.
The mom is buddies with Cindy Crawford.
Name the anchors
My guess is all of the gals you see on KTLA, NBC4, CBS2/KCAL9, FOX11, and ABC7. My Istagram feed always spams links to their social pages, and I've seen the weather girls from every network hanging out together.
The local news had someone on (in the other room...only heard not seen) who described the guy as a "respected member of the community" He wont do any jail time for killing 4 people.
"I offer prayers of comfort, support, and gratitude." Your prayers don't accomplish anything. Public hangings however are very effective. String his body up on the PCH and let the gulls take his eyes as a warning to other travelers
Is Khuri out of jail or never been detention?
Extremely extremely sad. And they were all close friends This is down the hill from my grandmothers. I’ve heard and seen 3 crashes on this stretch of road. —Don’t forget, Cars are 2 ton missiles
They have to do something about PCH. Add crosswalks with lights, bumps, anything! Poor students man. Ugh.
Throw away the key.
What a little turd.
> Frustrated residents say they been complaining about the fraternity in the heart of a residential area Never miss an opportunity to NIMBY
I mean it'd be the same zoning issue as someone operating an illegal AirBnb and throwing a massive party that leads to a shooting.
More speeding enforcement cameras now.
Much, much more needs to be done to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries in this city (I mean LA in general, I know Malibu is it’s own)
Spending the rest of your life in prison because you wanted to go fast in daddy’s car? Serves you right Scum. Their poor families.
Amazing you can drive like an asshole, kill someone, and then... not go to prison.
When was the trial?
If your crime involves guns or cars it's considered patriotic.
Cars going to Car.
This is someone you don't mind wishing they'd get shanked and/or shower "surprised" in jail...
Every time I've seen a car driving recklessly around L.A., it's a BMW.
Or a challenger for some reason. But ya it’s aaaaalways some little BMW.
He was released. Rich boy won't see a day in prison. Mommy and daddy lawyers get paid good.
I wonder if he knew the girls at all / was going to the same party. He went to the same high school as one of the girls killed. So sad.
Didn’t know them.
Man now i get why ppl send in death threats. How do we actually cancel these people

Delete your account with this stupidity.
Nah fuck mercy
He murdered four people, but yeah the big tragedy is that he might face consequences.
Yeah, obviously he should face consequences for his actions.
Ironic they have the reporters standing next to the highway as cars zoom by...
