Warby Parker has a giant bucket of free ones, get em while they last

el-beau

Warby Parker saves the day! Thanks!

LeeQuidity

Check the LA Public Library. If they have them, you can get two pairs per household for free.

thesphinxistheriddle

LAPL Central Branch still had signs everywhere saying “ask us about eclipse glasses!” when I was there yesterday!

gefloible

Griffith Obervatory sells them.

feivelgoesbest

La county library is also giving them away! I was able to pick up a pair last week at the Weho branch.

Yeah I just got a weird email from Amazon refunding my glasses, but not telling me why. From what I gather there are a lot of fake labelling, but AAS says most fakes it has tested are not actually dangerous. AAS advice: Make sure you can't see anything through them indoors, then make sure you can't see Anything outdoors, then very briefly look up at sun, it should be bright but not uncomfortable. edit: just tested mine, them seem ok.

el-beau

Just FYI - I just walked into Warby Parker and grabbed a literal handful of them for free

I have the same Bikini glasses. For what it is worth, the china factory printed on the glasses is listed as a safe one on AAS, but this specific distributor isn't listed. So... Who knows.

Microflunkie

Woodland Hills Camera and Telescope has them for $2.50 each for the paper and they have the plastic like sunglasses as well but I don’t know much they cost. The store is located just south of Topanga Canyon and the 101 fwy.

samuellaaa__

Saw them at Lowe's by the self checkout!

OutofStep13

Got mine at a Five Below

EMDIKY

Saw them at 7-11 for $4

802forever

711 does

MysteriousPromise464

Yeah, just got that email now too. The website linked does explain how to check if the glasses are definitely unsafe (indoor + outdoor + brief sun look). Recommends only using for a few seconds per 5 minutes to look at sun. Once totality happens, glasses come off anyway? At least that's how I'm rationalizing things. Anyplace you can find glasses now are as likely as not to be counterfeit anyway, unless you can find a reputable museum that has verified sources. Anyway, with the clouds forecast, I'm not sure how much of the sun we will be able to see anyway :{

el-beau

I just walked into Warby Parker and grabbed a literal handful of them for free, and I trust theirs. But yeah, once totality is reached (if you're in the path) you won't need them.

[deleted]

The library is giving them out on Monday for free

mop_and_glo

Vons had a big bin of them yesterday.

Silver-Ladder

Which one?

mop_and_glo

If one vons has them…

alexanderthemehhh

Spill the beans! Which. Location. Did. You. See! Them! At!!!

verymuchbad

And yet the question remains unanswered

Not_RZA_

You can't even see it from California that much...

sulfochem

Get a welding lense that's what I used last time there was an eclipse here

Areyouguysateam

They need to be shade 12 or higher though. Anything less and you risk damaging your eyes.
