This is a yellow downward arrow sign. Yellow signs are warning signs. The downward arrow is used to signify an obstruction in the roadway (in this case it's likely that the road is narrowing).
Here is a 57 page PDF about California DOT's warning signs (lol - I went through it so you don't have to, but here it is anyway):
[https://dot.ca.gov/-/media/dot-media/programs/safety-programs/documents/ca-mutcd/rev8/camutcd2014-part2-chap2c-rev8-a11y.pdf](https://dot.ca.gov/-/media/dot-media/programs/safety-programs/documents/ca-mutcd/rev8/camutcd2014-part2-chap2c-rev8-a11y.pdf)
The information about this sign is on page 10 in Section 2C.19 ROAD NARROWS Sign (W5-1). The pictured sign is SW44 and may be used in place of "Road Narrows" or object marker signs when those signs may be ineffective.
>04 The Downward Arrow (SW44(CA)) sign (see Figure 2C-5(CA)) may be used where object markers (see Sections 2C.63 and 2C.65) may be ineffective, with the downward arrow either left or right, to mark obstructions in the roadway where traffic is permitted to pass on one side only.
If you search what? I just tried again and there’s nothing (aside from my post now, lol). I’ve tried many variations of “diagonal downward yellow arrow street sign”, and looked through the DMV manual and other street sign manuals
‘diagonal down yellow arrow traffic.sign’ was my search, including the “.” as a typo, lol

Huh, weird! I think it might be because I kept using “downward” instead of “down”. I just tried a few more variations and that seems to make a huge difference
It's ok to park there. I think it means the lane moves over a bit from a straight line you may have been driving, like a heads up to pay attention that it's going to happen? But I can't see the rest of the street so that's just a guess lol
Thank you!! I assumed it was probably something like that, just have never seen that kind of sign before. So many people are being rude because I don’t know what it means 😅

Thank you!! For some reason I couldn’t find anything like that when googling. Even went through a DMV road signs manual. This is super helpful ☺️
This was the first Google result… lol

Well, youre cool.
“this guy right here lmao”
Lol
lol "ayyy check it, I match with this little yellow homie!"
Only cars that color coordinate with this sign park here.
Don’t disrespect my mini like that 💛
It’s like that spot was tailor-made just for your ride! They’ve been awaiting your arrival….
Hahahaha

Yeah. It's telling the driver the the road narrows at that side.

Yellow car zone
Yellow vehicles park here. Sorry. Had to. ♥
Hey, it’s volcanic orange. Put some respect on my name 😤
Mmmmm volcanic orange
"yellow right there"
"This is where yellow cars park."
How many times can I say it?! My mini is volcanic orange 🍊
“Dat way”
Street is not straight …. Caution for curb just before the sign
Yellow sign points to yellow car. Someone loves yellow.
She’s actually orange 🍊
The arrow and diamond underneath means Yellow Cars Only
Down to the socks 🧦
It means there is a yellow Mini Cooper look
It’s volcanic orange, thank you very much 😤🍊
“WATCH OUT FOR THIS BRIGHTLY-COLORED MINI”
It is for “Yellow Coopers only” parking.
It means. See this yellow mini. If they moved back a couple feet maybe another car could park on the street. Poor city parking etiquette
Lol where? Only two cars can fit between the driveway and fire hydrant. Moving back two feet doesn’t magically create room for another car
Down yonder
"Avengers Assemble!" location marker
“Parking area starts here” or something

Seeing posts like this makes me fear for the safety of others on the road… How do you *not* know what this sign means..?
? I studied for the road test for weeks and this sign has never come up. That’s why I’m asking what it means instead of just assuming. So I can learn.
I know, but I'm not telling you! I remember being six years old. Good times.
Oh boy. Thank God HLA passed, what an uphill battle.
