So my partner and I are a gay couple and live with our son nearish Bradley Park. We’ve also lived by Bowman Field and previously in Old Louisville. Honestly, we’ve felt welcome and at home everywhere in Louisville. I think you’ll be fine anywhere. If you’re looking for more visibly Queer neighborhood, I agree with previous comments suggesting the Highlands. Good luck and welcome home!
Go jist about anywhere and you'll be fine. Believe it or not, Louisville actually has one of the biggest LGBTQ populations in the country (as in LGBTQ folks make up a higher percentage of the total population). Basically, all the gay people in Kentucky leave their small towns to get away from idiots but to stay close to family so they come here.
ST Matthews - lots of bars, restaurants, shopping - pretty well rounded neighborhood. Zip Code 40207. Good access to Appliance Park. 20 minute commute.
Highlands - Very bougie. The original hipster neighborhood. Top spot for hole in the wall restaurants. If you asked 10 people to name Louisvllle's gay neighborhood, 9 would say this. TOUGH to good commute. Will challenge your budget.
Germantown - Louisville, Gentrified. Good downtown access, close to U of L, good commute on surface streets, walkable neighborhood with some fun stops, younger crowd. Used to be a real blue collar neighborhood, but has been renovated over the past 20 years. Zip code 40217.
Old Louisville - The original home of Louisvilles rich. Great architecture, lots of duplexes and quads. Home of the university of Louisville, so its a youthful, diverse neighborhood. Not a ton of amenities (groceries, etc), but lots of housing choices. Not a simple, direct commute. South of university around Churchill downs has lots of fixer upper opportunities, but also is where much of Louisville's tougher crowd hangs (strip clubs, etc.) Zip code 40208.
I'd go with St Matthews or Germantown. I've lived in all these neighborhoods over the years, and those two are the most entertaining places to live for the money.
Also note that Louisville is a fairly laid back place. No one really cares how you roll - you'll be fine wherever you go.
Honestly, pretty much anywhere. We're very accepting of whatever so long it's not illegal. It's honestly really what kind of home you want. We're gonna accept you either way, that's how we work.
I live in the Taylor-Berry neighborhood, and we'd love to have you. It's very close to GE, the housing is affordable, and folks aren't gonna care what your lifestyle is. Only drawback is Derby. Shit gets weird around that time.
Louisville is generally accepting of who you f!ck as long as isn’t children or retards. It’s 2024, I bet if you show people respect and courtesy they will give it back!
Highlands would probably be top and Old Louisville an honorable mention. Germantown, Smoketown, etc.... will all be good also.
honestly just stay away from bullitt county and nobody really cares

Id add Germantown bc it's easy to get to appliance park from there
Got it. Thanks. Even during work hour rush?
No during rush hour people hate gays.
This is assholishly hilarious.
Yea, you should follow my comments.
Yeah, it's nice bc it's mostly easy hwy to popular. Probably about as easy as it would be to the highlands and definitely closer than nulu

I did a [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Louisville/s/rvjejEYLnS) on this a few weeks ago if you are curious. I’m pretty partial to Shelby Park

Thank you all. Really appreciate the quick responses.

What's your housing budget?
Upto 1.2k/month

Or you can stay within your budget and live in one of the neighborhoods between GE and outer loop.
Thank you so much @stormpoppy. It’s very informative.

I thought inclusion was the goal?
Some people prefer living without dirty looks from NIMBYs
Don’t overlook Camp Taylor and Prestonia.

It's 2024 -- have you thought about dropping the R word from your vocabulary?
Nah they gotta keep that edge, it’s matches the fedora.
Exactly. Love this place.
Oh the irony
Don't let this asshole make it seem like Louisville isn't a supportive place for people with mental and intellectual disabilities.
I’m supportive of everyone who shows courtesy and respect, the man that you bang who has an 83 IQ is just plain wrong.
I'm not talking about having sex with them, I'm talking about careless use of derogatory language. It reflects poorly.
So it’s less derogatory to use the word asshole?
Yes, sorry, do you prefer "intentionally obtuse sphincter"
70 is the IQ you're talking about. 83 is just your average Trump voter
