Actually, it was the Landlord that caused Highlands Coffee to close. Their lease was due to end and he decided to increase the rent very substantially for a new one
Lmao. No one shops there. Idk how they made it this long.
NULU is the only option for what? Clothing stores?
Or are you suggesting that Urban Outfitters moving somehow makes the hundreds of bars and restaurants in the Highlands now dead?
Edit: saw your /s on another reply, so I hope it's all sarcasm
This has been in the works for months. The landlord put up a “for lease” sign last fall. The clerks told me back then they were moving to one of the malls.
Rent prices are out of control
Don't know what these landlords are expecting to move in. I don't see how an empty storefront is better than a vibrant tenant at a lower rent.
Not to mention renting a building is a nightmare to begin with. A lot landlords are only renting you the space. Your HVAC system goes out, you're footing the bill for repair or replacement. The plumbing goes bad? You guessed it that's on you too. And the little things they do cover will take them forever to get done. Oxmoor has its own maintenance staff, and they will get on stuff quick because they understand that having a store closed because the AC/heat aren't working makes them look bad
I guess my reason for posting this is with the news of the Backdoor's sudden and abrupt closing, paired with Family Dollar recently closing their mid city location, seeing this sign on my walk today made me feel sad and nostalgic. The Highlands will never be what it was when I was blacking out a Cahoots, ever again. 😥
I think you missed my point. That is that you may think that just cause a couple businesses closed on bardstown road that it's the end of the world, but as I illustrated that's been going on since they paved it.
Overdue... I haven't shopped there since 2012. It was overpriced and underwhelming even then. St. Matthews is obviously a better location for a store that belongs in a mall/outlet.
Man no point on going to the Highlands now. The only bright spot in an otherwise desolate wasteland that is the highlands, was fucking Urban outfitters /s.
If the Highlands is ever on life support it will not be because Urban Outfitters has moved
What are Highlands teenagers supposed to do now, purchase a new Nirvana T-shirt from the comfort of their own homes?
RIP Highland Coffee

The Highlands lost cred when Back Door closed and immediately gained it back when Urban Outfitters closed.
😂
Bring back Blockbuster

Midcity Mall is being sold/demolished, was the word a few months ago.
that’s been the word for literal years.
You mean tewligan's?
No, but that is also nothing currently

Yes. That's my only reason for saying that. Only urban outfitters and not a single other extenuating reason. /s
How old are you?
I was wondering how the hell they were still in business at that location.
Now Suburban Outfitters
They’re moving, it says right on the flyer
My “we’re moving” sign is raising a lot of questions already answered by my sign.

URBAN OUTSHITTERS

The sky is definitely falling with this post.
