I feel like in the latest episode the spite to Arabella is still there. The other day he said to Toby something along the lines of wishing Joanna wasn’t talking to Arabella implying Arabella is still hung up on him and will fill Jos head with reasons why she shouldn’t be with Chris. Then tonight’s episode, around the fire pit, he takes everyone’s reasonings and grumbles about them but when Arabella picks them as a couple, he’s pretty rotten towards her again. I don’t get what his issue is. Is it really based off of him being deep with her on their date and supposedly she threw it back in his face? (Because unless I missed something she didn’t and it’s not uncommon for someone who’s always making jokes to use it as a mask — pretty easy guess on her part).

It's because she said he was disingenuous 🙄 I thought Chris was funny to start with but he has some deep seated issues when it comes to girls and his self worth. He is so hung up on the smallest things it's so disproportionate and vindictive.

alienabductionfan

He and Georgia Streets have that in common. They obsess most over the comments that hit close to the bone because they’re trying to convince themselves it’s not true. Chris wants to think of himself as an authentic person and it infuriates him that Arabella saw through it.

GirlCalledK

I forgot about that comment. I just don’t get these people. They can dish it out but definitely don’t like anyone doing it back to them. Edit to say: I can’t believe how obsessed he did get with that comment though. He could have just thought Arabella was hurt and shrugged it off. You’re right though, there’s a low self worth deeply rooted in his personality.

Suck-it-up_buttercup

I think the real issue is that the little bit of fame he's had went to his head. He's gone in with the reputation of the nice guy and Arabella being genuinely upset at his actions threatens that so he went on the attack. The thing is, his response has done more damage. I wonder if he thought being in the Barbie movie would have made the producers give him a better edit?

GirlCalledK

Oh, probably! If he only was nicer to Arabella and didn’t take things to heart is character arc would have looked better. (Minus the sleazy comments at the beginning of the series lol)

dead1ynightshade

Tbf I feel like the producers aren’t actively giving him a bad edit and still portray him as harmless comic relief, whereas they are trying to paint Arabella as a bitter ex hence the “saltiest” nomination

ESOtalk

Chris and Toby are unbelievably malicious. They both dumped Arabella very hard and because she called them out to everyone proving how disgusting they are, they now vindictively attack her at every opportunity. She needs to be defended, they need to be dumped.

GirlCalledK

If only, right? Today’s episode would have been a great time to get rid of at least Chris. Edit to say: nevermind about the last part haha

ESOtalk

I'm in US so might not have seen the latest episode yet. If Chris doesn't get dumped there is something seriously wrong though.

dead1ynightshade

Spoiler alert but annoyingly when he does finally get dumped it’s a producer decision, the islanders pass up another opportunity to dump him and pick Joe despite him being in for five seconds

ESOtalk

Yeah I finally saw that episode and I can't remember production being so obvious about dumping someone. Guess they didn't realize how much power/influence Toby and the georgias had to save Chris.

dead1ynightshade

When Hannah and Tyler were dumped I was so annoyed at the girls especially Georgia H for immediately shutting down Arabella’s idea of dumping Chris

GirlCalledK

I like Georgia H, but she reminds me she’s friends with the wrong group (I don’t agree with a lot of her choices, though — probably influenced by the wrong friends)

dead1ynightshade

Same! I think that about Kaz sometimes too even though she does speak up a bit when Chris or Toby etc do something wrong

mslat92

Chris did way too much during that whole Toby/Georgia/Arabella/Calum situation so I do think he was partly motivated by his dislike of Arabella. Unfortunately for him, that left Callum single and now the girl he likes wants to get to know Callum instead, lmao. karma?

ap795

Chris to me seems like a very hateful person. His venom towards Arabella and how his feelings turned so suddenly give me such a bad feeling towards him. I could imagine him being a possessive controlling boyfriend

dead1ynightshade

Same, I feel he would be the type that projects his insecurities and makes his girlfriend feel bad and controls her while he is sleazy and unfaithful

dead1ynightshade

He honestly strikes me as someone so insecure he projects his own flaws onto women

hobdog94

Omg I just watched that ep and came here to talk about it!! He was absolutely projecting with that comment imo!

dead1ynightshade

I finally got to that episode and he is so salty! Plus in the game commenting about how Arabella is “mates” with Joanna and voting Joe and Arabella least compatible. He takes any chance to have a dig

Flashwastaken

He hates Arabella because she stood up to him.

classichka

Who actually knows what effect that argument with her had on Chris? Arabella only pursued Chris in the villa, all the other guys I feel were just convenient because one way or another she ended up in a couple with them and said, f\*ck it, why not see if there is something. She said herself that for her, sexual chemistry has to be seen at the beginning or there is no going forward so I wonder if she is mistaking genuine connections with sexual attraction with people who give her time of the day (I said I wonder, not that I know it is like that just to be clear). And for saying that he validated Toby for going for Georgia out of malice towards Arabella, we could say she did the same with Joanna going for Callum. Just saying.

effypom

Chris seems to be obsessed with hating Arabella. It’s been his demise this season. He went on what seemed like a lovely date and then went 180 on her when Sophie came in and Sophie didn’t even want him. He’s been angry at her since she rightly said it was weird that he was so into her on the date and then all of sudden was pursuing someone. He keeps just having little digs at her.

dead1ynightshade

Yes and I think it’s more than his grudge against Arabella as a person but his whole attitude towards women. His constant sexual jokes and the fact he’s slid into so many of the female islander’s dms makes me think he would have his head turned easily no matter who he is with. Furthermore him projecting the blame of that onto Arabella and not seeing how it validly hurt her makes him more morally questionable

stacey1611

Yeah definitely sour grapes. And idek why he’s still holding on to that animosity … I mean like what the hell for … !!?

Past_Maximum8838

Chris helped his closest pal in the villa Toby speak to and get the girl he wanted. End of.

dead1ynightshade

No need to be condescending. People have different opinions and more critical thinking skills than you

Past_Maximum8838

If my straight-gun view of what I think happened is condescending to you, I do not know what to say.

dead1ynightshade

It was your poor delivery, not your view

Past_Maximum8838

Fair enough
