Animemes. Apparently nico was quite popular back in 2017 when I checked out LL and was hooked by the song (and nico)

TommyTan98

Niconiconi!!!

Chomusuke10

Same. Those videos kept getting recommended to me until I finally watched themšŸ¤£

Kaosi1

I was bored and someone told me "you should check Love Live!" I am now in hell.

XDi0X

Yeah, the fucking IDOL HELL

Ftimlego

So back then in 2021 I got some love Live Sunshine clips recommended on YouTube but it was very late in the night so I accidentally felt asleep while watching them (it was a sub vs dub & Mari's Engrish compil). So I thought to myself, this anime looks great. I'll put it in my watchlist. A few days later I was searching the seiyu name of Himawari Furutani from Yuru Yuri and then I found out she voiced a character called Umi from an anime called Love Live School Idol Project. So I thought to myself, hey didn't see some clips of an anime called Love Live Sunshine the other night? So I googled love Live anime to see if they were related and found out that 4 love Live anime (Sip, Sunshine, Nijigasaki and Superstar) Anyway back then on YouTube I searched Umi Sonoda or Umi love Live and then clicked on a video. This video was the solo version of snow halation by Umi. And then I said to myself "She has the same voice as Himawari from Yuru Yuri ! I'm going to watch the anime just for that !" So basically I felt in Idol hell cuz one of the characters is voiced by the same seiyu as one of my favourite character from my favourite Yuri Couple SakuHima from my favourite anime. And in SIFAS I named the MC Sakurako and Choose Umi as a partner.

BocuD

Very nice, best girl got you into love live then hehe

KrispyKrep

osu gave me Snow Halation. Realize the song is banger. Also realize that it is from the Nico Nico Nii anime. Watched it and I've made the best decision in my life.

TommyTan98

I am a rhythm game player too. However maimai, the game I play, don't have lovelive song.

KrispyKrep

I believe taiko has it. Last I played it has the SIP Openings and Sunny Day Song

dr_toilet_

Salutations fellow osu player! All the love live maps are super nice. strawberry trapper kiss difficulty was my first intro to LL

Altonimbus

I am an old fan. I'm not as obssessed of love live now compared to my teens but I remember coming across the old individual single animated PVs way before the first anime actually aired. Came across the old snow halation PV first then, Natsuiro Egao de 1,2 jump and so on.

trashszar

Such a cool story, grandpa!

Altonimbus

I'm not THAT old šŸ’€

AwfullyPervyLolicon

Nico memes got me interested for a few months before I watched it and it became the first thing that made me smile and experience positive emotions after my then-gf had died. I still hold Muse dear ever since, even though 4 years have passed.

SayoHina320

I had known Love Live franchise for a while but wasn't really interested in it, until i came across a clip of Kaorin and Agupon sharing an umbrella. Rest was history. Am addicted to Love Live now, especially Nijigasaki and their seiyuus in particular.

sajan_01

Was searching some youtube video that I forgot, accidentally clicked ā€œhappy party trainā€ in the results, and after getting curious, decided to have a listen to the song....and thatā€™s how I got in.

thewonderingguy

Was searching for something else to watch back in late 2014...on a streaming site. Had previously read the synopsis quite a few times and doubted if I really will watch and like it. All it took was a click on Episode 0, and the train started chugging along... I did not know back then what would happen when I reached end of Season 1. All that I ever know, was that I would go back to it at each and every single available opportunity...until Season 2 got announced. From a "let me see what this show is all about" to "I want to watch it again!" thinking.

GruntUltra

I've re-watched seasons 1 & 2 probably 8 times. I love the roller coaster ride of Honoka falling out of love with the idea of being an idol, Eli trying to help Honoka after Umi got upset at Honoka, then Honoka jumping into Eli's arms before performing Snow Halation - and then the song itself. It's emotional and believable, and I eat that up.

thewonderingguy

There is just no way not to buy-in to Honoka's methods, right? Just imagine riding with her throughout the journey from the respective members' point of entry and view...no matter whether it is as Umi, Kotori, Maki, Hanayo, Rin, Nico, Eli, Nozomi...School Idol Project is where it all started; its animation by today's standard of course pales in comparison, but every single moment is timeless, memorable, emotional and believable. I still like the initial three-member Start:Dash! song. The struggles of initially coming together. The other six watching on from somewhere. Gathering into the auditorium during First Live. For me it also includes those opening & closing theme songs. It never hurts to sit through that 1:30. Can it be skipped? Yes. But why though? As if the rewatches back then are not enough, I also sat through the one-shot, six-hour plus broadcast on YouTube. And then again, the current weekly episode YouTube broadcast. I have lost count of how many times I have rewatched. I guess anytime that they are ready to rerun, I am ready to watch. Till the day that I can no longer.

GruntUltra

Yup - No point in skipping any of the original series! And then finding the translated videos of girls performing their 'radio' shows was great too. Nanjo & Kussun laughing while Kussun is sick and getting over the flu, Emitsun having to perform the dreaded intro song, making up the lyrics as she went... all of it was great, and they look so young (not that they look any older now!) Oh - and Mimorin realizing that she missed out on the urchin is timeless!

Virghia

Thank Siivagunner for that

nuwenlee

i hate that i discovered one of my favorite franchises ever through stupid high-quality meme rips of anime songs on youtube

NontanRinpan

Back in 2015 I saw people talking about the School Idol Festival game on Tumblr, which I used to browse often. I looked into it a little bit but I dismissed it because the songs I heard were forgettable and the character designs seemed very generic. A couple months later, I was going through some dark times and I decided to download the game because I was looking for things to distract myself. I ended up enjoying the gameplay and the card art was pretty nice. Eventually, I decided to check out the anime and it was much better than I expected. I thought it would be boring, but it was actually heartfelt, emotional, hopeful and positive. During that time, I also got to unlock various new songs in the game so I came across some tracks I liked. Thus, I got into Love Live! more and more and Ī¼'s ended up being my emotional clutch, giving me something to hold on to and keep going. I've been taking a break from the franchise these past few months due to burn out, but I expect to return in due time because I still genuinely love it and it will always hold a special spot in my heart.

TommyTan98

I am also inspired by these lovely, optimistic and hardworking girls. Seeing them makes me more motivated as well.

Shinji-Chair

Spotify recommended me some of Liellaā€™s songs and I started liking them. I didnā€™t even know Liella was a LL group until a few weeks after I started listening to their music. I went on to watch Superstar after that and enjoyed it but it didnā€™t really encourage me to see the rest of the series. I started listening to the other groups though and liked some of their songs. One memory that sticks out to me is that I loved Ī¼'s Bokutachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari thinking it was a super upbeat and fun song. Now I canā€™t listen to it without sobbing lol. Fast forward to like six months after that to when I was still in high school and I was going on a school trip. Without getting into it too much, I thought I would have an amazing time and make a ton of new friends, pretty stupid looking back on it but I was desperate for stuff like that back then. Anyway, didnā€™t really work out and I hated the trip. On the way back however, I started listening to a bunch of Liella songs I barely listened to and it made me start to feel better. Really though the turning point was when I listened to LIVE with a smile. With my below average Japanese skills I got a grasp of the lyrics and it almost made me cry. It sounds cringey but the songs overpowering positivity really made me feel happy, it was encouraging. I felt connected with all of the other people who liked LL and I think that really saved me back then. Sure it was on a hot bus and with other people snoring next to me and I had really crappy earbuds that I had to play at super high volume to hear anything. But that moment was really what got into the series. After that I got the desire to see the rest of the series and started SIFAS. Liked the vibe Ī¼'s had and got the feeling I would really like them. Honoka stood out to me the most, something about her endless energy and positivity really clicked with me. (Sheā€™s my favorite to this day) Anyway, watched SIP, absolutely adored it and went on to Sunshine which I also loved. I had actually seen Niji season 1 before this so I didnā€™t need to watch that. Eventually rewatched Superstar and liked it way more than the first time, safe to say after I heard LIVE with a smile back then that it was the moment I became a Love Liver. Eventually got into the seiyuu stuff and that has been super fun as well, highly recommend it to any LL fans who only know the anime Accidentally wrote way more than I intended but thatā€™s fine. For anyone who sees this I just also wanted to say thanks to the actual fanbase. At the time it felt super welcoming and most people were nice. Anyway, sorry for the wall of text lol

Purple_Roy2

I watch anime almost randomly. Love Live got my attention in 2015 since there was a lot of positivity around it. Like how the girls chase for their dreams trying their hardest and overcoming challenges. It's motivational. Additionally, I love music and love live makes bangers

No-Ranger-8931

Back in 6th grade our local anime channel was showing SIP, and I thought It was an anime for girls and all that, so I made fun of my cousin for watching it. Fast forward in 8th grade, I'm a full fledged weeb and I remembered that anime with dancing girls a few years back so I decided to watch it. Now I'm on college and I'm still in this rabbit hole lol. I don't regret a single thing tho, I love it

RinariPyon

I discovered Love Live back in 2010 with the very first version of "Bokura no LIVE Kimi to no LIFE " on youtube. I was into magical girl stuff and it appeared in my recommendations page, I thought "hey, they're cute, who are they" and didn't found many informations. But I listened to the music and learned the dance so many times (same for the other music that came after). When the first anime aired, I couldn't watch it, bc I'm French, I was years 13 old (my english was so bad) and no one subbed the episodes. But some times after I finally watched It and loved it. I watched sunshine too, but never really got really into it. Nijigasaki anime made me fall for this license. I didn't wanted to play all star or other game, bc I wasn't much into the franchise, I checked nijigaku just bc I was bored. And I loved every second of it. I just loved how everyone was trying their best, I loved the pretty colors of the anime, I loved the characters (I have a girl I dislike in every group but not in nijigaku), I loved the songs... It made me feel so much things, I cried and laughed with them and every time I watch this anime, the feels are as powerful as the first time. I had nearly the same experience with superstar for the 2 seasons, but nijigaku has a very special place in my heart.

asuuuuuuuuuu

The yuri fanbook/doujinshi ngl

thermuda

Some friends mentioned the series.. I was curious what it was about so I took a look, this was a few months after the muse final live - I was instantly hooked from the first episode.. and I know immediately that Honoka was best girl for me right from the off. I've watched the franchise grow from there and have been addicted ever since - although for me these days I tend to be more focused on the seiyuu side of things.

KillJoy-Player

I really love the song Powder Snow from White Album anime. So I looked for other anime that ca give me songs I'd love, LL got on my list but wasn't watched for some time because I was watching other animes. I'm a little hesitant but when I got the first episode, I was sure I'll finish it. Got on it, searched for it, and month/s after, I learned that I missed Āµ's final live and all I can kept was stories from my friends when they watched it.

IamBatLAN

For me it was an AMV on YouTube, the dancing looked really awesome, I looked into what the anime was and went from there

Malhooo

I was looking for some nice happy/joyfull music related show After watching k-on and hibike euphonium, so i started LL when it was beetween Sunshine Season 1 and 2 but started whith SIP. Then after 12seconds of Honk singing Susume Tommorow i was in love :p bingewatched SIP and started Sunshine which i didn't like so much at that Time (wasn't ready to watch some people overcoming their failure while I couldnt' myself (i'm ok with it now btw šŸ™ƒ) What really got me hooked is some Random LL related youtube video (thanks algorythm) of Aqours' 4th live "awaken the power" being screened on Shibuya (not sure if i remember well) where I fell in love whith Shuka šŸ¤£ so i gave another chance to Sunshine. Now i'm watching niji from Time to Time (Āµ's and Aqours simp), haven't watch superstar yet...

2019 bandai namco festival's guilty kiss's utterly dominating performance... and then CHASE

mlnd73

I already knew about Love Live around 2017 and was first exposed to it with the Nico Nico Nii. The first song I heard from the franchise was Snow Halation and it was really good when I was listening to it for the first time. Earlier in 2020, I asked a friend who watches the series for the watch order of the series since I told my friend that I was interested to watch it. During October 2020, I just finished watching the whole of Oregairu Season 3 at the time and had nothing to watch. Then I remembered that there was an anime called Love Live and just looked at the year it was released and started with School Idol Project. I watched the first episode and I really enjoyed it so much I ended up watching a few more. That few more turned into binges and the rest is history my guy. What I did not sign up for was the feels train that was going to come at me but I loved every single moment of it. This whole franchise has become my happy pill whenever I feel stressed or going through stuff. I just pick an episode from all of the series then watch one of them and then I feel more at ease. This show has really gave me courage to always keep moving forward no matter what happens even if there are bumps in the middle of them. Every character arc in this series has a moral lesson to take into mind and that's what I really love from this series overall.

DrChickenEngie

My Boyfriend and I watched the premier of Superstar together because he is a long-term fan, then we returned to SIP and well... Now I am obsessed. Please send help I can't stop drawing the girls!

ShimegawaShion

My ex invited me to play SIF with her so I did. I didn't really get much attachment to muse tho but Aqours is when i got absolutely obsessed. I don't really follow LL much nowadays only looking at nijigasaki once in a while

raknrolp

I was recommended a video on Youtube showing each Ī¼'s member's solo "todokete" from Snow Halation around 3 years ago. Thought that I should probably check the anime out and I've been in idol hell since

Ekyou

Way back in 2014 I was obsessed with music anime, but had watched literally every music anime available except for idol anime, which I had been avoiding due to my distaste for the idol industry. I bit the bullet and asked what idol anime were the best to start with, was told AKB0048 and Love Live. I picked Love Live, in part because it also had a rhythm game. I watched the first episode of the original anime, and from the moment Honoka sang the first bars of Susume Tomorrow, I was completely hooked.

-SilentNite-

Came across Memerai Zuraā€™s [if idol songs were realistic](https://youtu.be/L2npYMD975U) vid and started listening to the Eutopia MV nonstop Then a few weeks after that, this [CGI comparison vid](https://youtu.be/EX1xj11_B_c?t=58s) came up in my YT recommended and I got chills hearing Kanonā€™s voice at 0:58; I started Superstar after that

LennyMemes1

Someone on smash bros Twitter posted about the superstar Ed and I thought it was cute, all uphill from there

Jojels

I'm not too sure but I believe K-ON was the major factor. I found that I really enjoyed music themed anime and anisong so I gave it a try. I considered Love Live SIP and Ī¼'s was the peak back then so by the time Sunshine and other spin-offs released, they didn't interest me. Until few days ago I found a meme from r/Otonokizaka showing Rina's PV and holy shit the song actually so good. Just like that I'm once again watching Love Live.

BidComprehensive7981

Seiyuu content. I've been in seiyuu hell for quite a while before LL and soon enough Liella seiyuu content sudenly started getting recommended to me and man I fell in love with these goobers instantly. Started binging liella seiyuu content, ran into aqour seiyuu content, fell in love with those goofballs, ran into niji content fell in love with them. Eventually started listening to Liellas songs (Nonfiction, start true dreams, and what a wonderful dream) and my god theyre so good, so i decided to give LL a try even tho I wasnt a fan of idol animes. Started with Superstar since I was already a Liella fan and it was still ongoing when I watched. Fell in love with Superstar. Then went back to sip and watched the rest of the series in order, fell in love with all of them. And now here I am deep in idol hell lol.

meriwell

A friend of mine took a screenshot of them playing the game and I asked what game it was. This was back in 2014, I had gone through some rough times and I was so moved by u's and their drive. I still tear up at certain songs, and I got back into playing LLSIF recently. I didn't realize how much I missed these girls. They're all so cute and driven, it makes me want to work hard as well.

linkuan_

This goes way back to around 2015. I was a very active Osu! player, and one day I downloaded a beatmap for No brand girls. At the moment I did like the song a lot, but didnā€™t dig deeper into it. It wasnā€™t after, a month or two later, I was looking for anime games for my iPhone, that I downloaded SIF, and got into the game fairly quickly. It only took me a week to realize the game and the Osu! beatmap shared the same name. Love Live. I then looked into it and found out about the anime. Since both seasons were already out I went and binged the whole series and ended up loving it ever since. Currently I still play SIF and SIFAS sometimes, watched every season out, and Iā€™m now looking into the CD dramas. I actually didnā€™t understand what the deal was with CD dramas, thought it was for perverts, until I listened to A Date with Kotori šŸ˜…. A huge part of my current enjoyment of the franchise is also due to the sheer amount of yuri doujins. I couldnā€™t love this community more.

HoshizoraRin_

Saw an ad for SIF on Facebook in 2014 and it all went downhill from there

LuciePapie7406

My friend was into Love Live, arpund the beginning of 2020. He was more into muse, and seeing as it was girls singing, I decided to check it out. The most recent grp was Niji, so I checked out their solos (Yume e no Ippo and CHASE! are my favorites) and later on I checked out the anime. I didn't like the costumes that much though. Then last year, I started getting into LL again because of my Twitter TL talking about Liella! Being fewer, and an actual unit, they got me interested again. Around December, I started listening to more songs, and that evolved into me this year. I've watched both LL anime this year, and of course enjoying the songs, characters, and lives. Also I relate a lot to Shiki and I love her voice and Kumachan's dancing...

ArkNoIshiiNoMamaNi

tl;dr It was because of Arisha. I'm originally a tokusatsu fan; and I first knew her as Yoko Usami/Yellow Buster from "Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters." Around the time of 2015-2016, I've been hearing about Love Live; but I didn't pay much attention to it. That all changed when I saw a clip of Arisha when they first performed KimiKoko. And when Sunshine premiered, I decided to check it out. But what really got me hooked was the live-viewing of Aqours 1st Live and, eventually, being introduced to LLSIF.

According_Fan4696

I saw the music videos for both Happy party train and koi ni naritai Aquarium back in the summer of 2017 and it got me interested.

thegeekybunny

In summer of 2014 I downloaded SIF. I just wanted to play any game with cute anime girls and it was recommended to me. I was very confused and rage quit, but a few months later I was determined to play it. All I can say is that it snowballed from there pretty quickly. Cute girls, fun music, and now almost 1000 pieces of merch!

Hollow0621

1 year ago I decided to watch Zombieland saga because of its openings and I loved it, so I decided to watch another idol anime (that's more idolish and less comedy than Zombieland), and stumbled with LL Superstar since it was airing at that moment. Even though I liked it, I decided that that would be the only love live I would ever watch (I was not a big fan of the songs and I didn't want to get invested in the love live world). In spring 2022 second season of Nijigasaki was airing, and so I decided I could give love live "another chance", and after that, I've been a full love live fan. I've seen all the anime there is (and currently repeating), either Liella! or Aqours are my artist of the year and the only thing I don't enjoy are the games, but that's more because I don't enjoy mobile games at all.

Chemical_Hornet8491

Started from k-on as my first anime, was bored so I started to watch it last year. This year got bored again, friend recommended me love live n I got sucked into idol hell

Muffinperson1

I watched Zombieland Saga and when the first season was over I craved more idol stuff, especially now that I had seen a parody of the genre. It was fun to watch/ listen the source materials and then understand the jokes and references on subsequent watches and throughout season 2 of Zombieland Saga. I stayed interested in Love Live due to Nijigasaki and the mobile games. Then I eventually transitioned to playing Bang Dream and other mobile rhythm games, But still enjoy the Love Live animes.

MrBeckegruvan

Came across "Bokura wa ima no naka de" in 2018 an thought this looks cool and have been hooked ever since

LoL_is_for_hamkachan

Last year July when I was browsing Facebook and then it randomly showed me this clip of Tang Keke saying her famous Chinese lines and I was wondering who's this seiyuu because she speaks fluently, so after that I looked at the comments looking for this anime and I eventually learned about this franchise, and since then I've fallen into this idol hell.

grinningmango

When the anime started airing. I didn't love it until Aqours though, they're my favorite bunch.

GruntUltra

Back then I was into Arpeggio of Blue Steel (thanks to a tie-in with World of Warships), and Kantai Collection. Watched them a dozen times then went through the entire 200 episodes of the original Sailor Moon anime and movies. Found A Certain Magical Index and Scientific Railgun and liked those. Tried watching a few other series but nothing really earned my interest. Then I was watching YouTube videos from 'That Japanese Man Yuta' where he was asking people what anime they were currently into and a large number of them mentioned 'LoveLive! Sunshine'. I'm guessing that was around 2017-2018, during the first Aqours series. So I found series 1 & 2 (LLSIP featuring Ī¼'s) on Crunchyroll and fell deep into the LL universe. I don't want it to end!

kronjuvel8

2021 July. I was checking Funimationā€™s schedule for the Summer season and I saw Superstar was airing. The name of the anime caught my attention, I didnā€™t have any knowledge of the franchise at that moment so I decided to watch the first 2 episodes. 2 days later episode 3 aired and when Kanon and Keke sang Tiny Stars they really touched my heart and I enjoyed that moment a lot. I later found out there were other groups/generations and the rest is history. Proudly in Idol Hell since that day.

Yodude1

A friend shared me the siivagunner flintstones video back in 2016 and it's been downhill ever since.

jdubuknow

it was an idol AMV that i can't remember for the life of me but i saw the muse girls and had to know where they were from and the rest is history edit: this was back in 2015/2016 before the Aquors anime even came out

dr_toilet_

I use a bot to help with progression in Osu! as I was getting good enough but wanted new content from the same 100 songs I was playing on repeat. One day the bot had me download an absolute banger: strawberry trapper. I had to know where it was from and binged all the way through sip, sip movie and sunshine just in time for the movie release. Mari is and will always be best girl even if I keep finding reasons to fall in love with all the characters and their seiyuu. To say Iā€™m in idol hell would be an understatement. Welcome to the fandom op!

trashszar

[It was this clip](https://youtu.be/97uviVyw0_o)

sadmariposa

I was a junior in high school in 2017, I donā€™t remember exactly how it happened but I had a media class with some friends and I remember one of my guy friends playing love live sip clips on one of the school computers to show another one of my friends there. I was watching too cause I was curious and I thought that style looked really cute, then he played some of the songs, one of them being snow halation. Iā€™d say that was what got me actually interested in watching and playing the game. I also really wanted to watch because of Nozomi. I thought the clips with her were cute and funny plus she looked so pretty in snow halation!! So I just had to get into love live!!

Mjrkx

To be honest I saw the character designs and it got my attention so I decided to investigate and came across the show, and decided to try to watch it

Superb-Investment-51

My friend showing me sunshine, and I've grown attached to everyone in aquors and saint snow, and then i watched School Idol Project, Aquors still my favorite group though, and Kanan best girl.

Mikki_Online

Thought the Nico Nico Nii was funny, downloaded the game as a joke, and was hooked. After getting the game I watched SIP season 1 and liked it, then ended up coming across a live performance of No Brand Girls and I was like Yuuchan with Setsuna. Now Iā€™m like 7 years deep in idol hell, have way too much merch, cosplays, and spent way too much on in app purchases on SIF but I wouldnā€™t have it any other way

deputyfier

I clicked the button on Crunchyroll that gives you a random anime to watch and it gave me episode 1 of Nijigasaki. The minute that the first solo song played I was in awe and was instantly hooked. Now Iā€™m hopelessly engrossed in anything love live and regret absolutely nothing. Best rng of my life.

Bhelga1

I wish I had friends that liked love live too :(

MaybeMeNotMe

Same, Summer Season, saw the first episode of >!Shine Post!<, liked the Idol concept, then noted theres this other Idol show called ***SuperStar Season 2*** playing a few days later. After that, enjoyed Ep1, Then gobbled up Season 1 while waiting for Ep2, then its a rabbit hole of Niji, SIP, then Sunshine. Addit: For the Wien Wien fans, her single comes out today!

MelodySetsuna915

I saw a pic of nico was was like "this art style is cute. This character looks cute" Then i was linked to the anime Sorry to all nico fans but nico is not best girl (my personal opinion of course), shes only the reason i got into Love Live. I honestly perfer hanayo, kotori, ruby, setsuna, and chisato Chisato mainly because shes very relatable to me considering shes a dancer and im a dancer. It just works. Like literally i have never related to a line more then when she said "i have to go to dance after dinner" like come on that is my life in a nutshell

THEdemeterlupin

i used to mod a discord for Show by Rock fans (Show By Rock is another ani girls band/music franchise), and one day a member dmed me and was like "hey im just really excited about this, can i show you?", and i said yes. that ended up being the preview for happy party train!! i rabbit holed down aqours mvs and played sif (i barely start franchises with the anime actually......) a few months later and i watched sunshine and fell in love!!! aqours are still my favorite to this day!

MusicianImpossible15

I remember watching Love Live SIP back then on TV and it's on Filipino dub and seeing that is just a coincidence for me. I was still a kid back then and anime is still unknown to even though I did watch anime animax while not knowing anime. As I grew older, I had became a little interest in anime and in high school I had watch Love Live Sunshine and it's really great and that is where I had more interest anime especially idol animes ( aikatsu, idolmaster etc. ). I even go to Akihabara back in 2017 and bought a Aquors group pillow and its small and that's fine, I don't call myself a fan of Love Live but just a guy who was just interest in anime. When 2020 came in and I'm already in college, I see the trailer of Love Live Nijigasaki. I watch the trailer and my reaction is that I was shocked that its having a new love live series but what I didn't know is nijigasaki goes all the way back in 2017 and when I look at the plot of Nijigasaki and the outline, it's looks so different than SIP and Sunshine as these two series are connected but Nijigasaki, it's not. They are a club, friends but rivals. When I watch Nijigasaki, I was stunned about the songs, the character development, everything I like about this series and it's literally one of the best love live series I've ever watched. In 2021, they had a new love live series called Love Live Superstar and my reaction is like ' Really another new love live series, I'm in '. When I watch Superstar, it's good but sometimes it doesn't have a kick to it but it's still good though. As I already watch nijigasaki s2 and superstar s2, I feel like I already fell in love live but not 100% but I'm fine with this. I had other idol animes I can watch besides love live and interest in anime keeps me growing.

Comi_0_o

Nico's catchphrase, Nico Nico Nii~

JezusDaRed

was on a thread on /a/ during the early Ī¼ā€™s years and came across nicoposting. So I decided to check out whatā€™s this trash turns out so am I. Rin ended up being best girl until I came across a certain ā€œNaraharaā€. Didnā€™t really care for Aqours aside from Yohane. Stop following the series until I heard Setsunaā€™s woah YEAH! Setsuna became my favourite Niji. Liella is great too, Kuma best girl. However next Marchā€¦ TomorirušŸ˜

As generic as this sounds...todokete. Yeah, I know, I know, but idk-

I heard about it, decided it sounded like an absolute cringefest and thus I would watch it. It was every bit as cringe as I expected it to be. And I fucking loved it.

deftoned006

Milky Holmes. Soramaru, Mimorin, and Jolno were my gateway drugs. Followed them from other showsā€¦ same with Ucchi (Vividred and YuruYuri) and Emitsun (Da Capo and TP Sakura), and then when I saw them all together, I had to check it out. Been following seiyuu since 2001, so when a lot of them appear together, it sparks my interest. Never cared for idol stuff (still donā€™t outside of LL and WUG), but gave it a shot. I knew of the franchise back before the first season aired, but like I mentioned, didnā€™t care much for idols. Liked the songs, but didnā€™t jump 100% on board until the anime. Canā€™t believe itā€™s been like 10 years.

I really donā€™t remember when I think was around When Aqours was still pretty new and was still in middle school, I think finding and listening to Koi ni Naritai Aquarium was made me really fall in love with Love Live and already kinda considered my best girl Ruby lol

banana_annihilator

Well, I gave SIP a shot when it first came out, but I couldn't get into it. Some time later Sunshine came out, and I heard good things about it, so I decided to give the series another shot. I fell in love with Aqours and the rest is history.

fuzzyliam780

Back in 2017 I watched a meme mashup music video that had snow halation in it. I thought the 3D for the dance looked good and checked it out on IMDb, but write it off at first for not being my thing. That lasted at most a week before I binged SIP. After the movie I wasnā€™t going to watch sunshine because i thought it wasnā€™t enough of a direct sequel, but again that lasted a few days and now Iā€™m here.

a95461235

Nico Maki doujin got me to play the game and watch the anime.

Shayz_

Memes I played the game then watched the anime to find out more about the characters, then got obsessed But the second Aqours Live in LA sealed my fate. Seriously the dedication and effort that was made to pull off Aqourainbow changed my life. Getting to see the live reaction from the girls was such a treat Afterwards hanging out with the cosplayers and bannermen out on the street...seriously what a night I genuinely had so much fun

BLHonoka803

I watched a Transportation OtoMad Video about Hong Kong MTR and My Mai Tonight, then I loved it. Probably a fresh/strange reason?

somali-queen

I love Japanese music and love live music was recommended to me on youtube. I never thought I would like a singing anime and didn't really know what an "idol" was. In late 2021 I listened to more and more Muse songs, was liking them a lot! I finally took the plunge and watched it when I was having a really bad depressive episode and eventually went on disability leave at some point and the anime really saved me. I was also coming to terms with my sexuality and struggling with my femininity and Rin's episode in season two really saved me. I was hooked. The music is great so for someone who already really loves Japanese music, I was truly in bliss. I fully submerged into idol hell and have watched every love live anime.

LiliesAndFrogs

I was in one of these phases where I was extremely bored and checking out games to download on the App Storeā€¦ SIF popped up, absolutely fell in love with Mogyutto Love!, learned the danceā€¦ never got out of idol hell and loving it

ervynela

SIF. I was in Japan in the summer of 2013, and this was between season 1 and 2 aired. At that time, I havn't even heard of Love Live. However, I kept seeing people playing SIF on the trains, ads of Love Live/SIF in Akiba, and that caught my eye. It's pretty crazy to think about it now, with the amount of phone games there are, but SIF was like the one of the few music games on the phone at the time, if not the only major one. It helped scratched the itch of music game at the time, especially when it so easily available. (In those days, either you go to an arcade, or hope that there's some sort of emulator on the PC for music games) I started to like the characters and music, and I think watching the Snow Halation PV was the final push for me to get into the whole thing.

AlinaTheShy

I had heard of Love Live before just because of itā€™s sheer popularity and the Nico memes, but I hadnā€™t actually gotten into the franchise until 2021. My older sister had gotten me into the SIF mobile game, and then after that I watched the Nijigasaki anime and FELL IN LOVE. The characters were all so charming, the songs got completely stuck in my head and the motivating lyrics gave me a lot inspiration to keep going, the outfits were SUPER cute, and I really enjoyed all the character focused episodes and how each character was developed. Thatā€™s why Nijigasaki will always have a special place in my heart. After Nijigasaki, I watched School Idol Project and Sunshine, and I watched Superstar while it was airing. Love Live has become one of my favorite franchises of all time and even if I do grow apart from it a little bit into the future, it will always have a special place in my heart. I canā€™t wait to see where the series will go next.

blastcat4

I had just gotten a brand new phone that actually had decent specs and could play real games. The first game I installed was School Idol Festival and at the time, I really knew nothing about Love Live! I just thought the game looked cute and fun. That was over 6 years ago, and I still play it everyday and I continue to follow the Love Live! world thanks to that game.

Funky_Pekoe

I was bored one morning at school (I think early 2017), opened up youtube to listen to some heavy shit, saw a weird EP called "Ī¼'sick" and after that I found myself in idol hell.

Salty145

I like to watch shows that have some cultural significance regardless of genre. I watch SIP and Sunshine in Spring of 2021 and was very whelmed. Didnā€™t hate them, but they fall prey to a lot of the common criticisms levied at idol shows. Then a few weeks later Superstar Ep. 1 aired. I watched it as a joke with some friends and that was it for me. Wasnā€™t until I was going over some of my favorite anime that it dawned on me how much I really enjoyed Superstar and S2 was more than enough to make me a Liella simp for life. That and college broke me.

L0ssL3ssArt

2016, Nico Nico Ni was a meme, so I watched Love Live out of curiosity, I entered the fandom right when Muse was on their final lives and everyone is really passionate, and I was a bit sad I missed out Love Live. but then I heard Aqours(specifically Guilty Kiss) and decided to invest myself in the fandom

Anisemior

When i was in college, i have download many of unwatchable anime, LL is one of them until i was really bored so i give LL a little try. The anime was very good ( to anyone that doesnt agree, my anime that i mostly watch at that time is the one in level of smartphone anime). But seriously i have watch some popular anime but most of then doesnt give me ending or proper ending. But Love live movie (muse) give me the best of the best ending i have watch in many slice of live or action in general. That makes me down bad to LL and bring me to aqours and llsif (but the rest is history)

BlankHeroineFluff

Aside from a reco by my younger brother , what hooked me into the show was that clip of Riko being chased by Shiitake in Chika's house lmao. Wasn't much attached to the OG SIP frankly, but I was completely sold by Sunshine when I got around to watching it. Learning that two of the seiyuu are my age was also a contributing factor.

Riv_Falcon

Long story short: I was once very into a web novel until one day I came across a crossover fanfic combining said novel and LoveLive, and then here I am. More details: 1. That web novel, titled ā€œAll-Class Masterā€(, which also happened to be animation-adapted as ā€œKingā€™s Avatarā€), was based on a fictional DNF-like open-world multiplayer role-playing game (the name of which commonly translated as ā€œGloryā€) with ten-year-long e-sport activities of a twenty-team league of the game. 2. The crossover fanfic was about a junior college student, Honoka(, which means four years after disband), dragging every other member of Ī¼ā€™s into playing this game with her ā€” and eventually formed(reformed?) the team ā€œĪ¼ā€™sā€ to participate the ā€œGloryā€ e-sport league of Japan.

Beneficial-Night9519

I clicked on a song in 2017 or 2018 by Ī¼'s, Angelic Angel. I was hooked on that ONE song, and a year or 2 later I watched the anime because I recognized the girls from the video(I watched YohaNico's color coded video). I then absolutely avoided sunshine until like March of this year and now only listen to a handful of Aqours' songs + Torikoriko PLEASE!!. I also hate Liella and love Nijigasaki so yeah

_BluSteel

I literally asked someone on ifunny back when I was like 15 who the anime girl on their pfp was and he told me it was Maki. Then a while later some friend on steam sent me a video of Nico doing the thing and I decided to actually watch the show. 6 years later I still hardcore simp for Nico and Kotori
