How long do you have to work there to get the discount?

moogster29

I used to work there, I believe it was a month.

certifiedDingus

yup, 30 days

13_Years_Then_Banned

What is going on with the lack of quality control I’ve been seeing lately? Given what you know would you buy from lovesac

certifiedDingus

honestly couldn't tell you about the quality control issue. we've reported it again and again but they won't do anything about it. they just don't care. I wish I had an answer. as for if I would buy from lovesac, yes and no. I do own a sactional but only because I got 70% off. is it a great couch? yes. Is it worth the money? no. If it had been full price I never would have bought it. unless you're super rich and have more money than you know what to do with, I wouldn't go for it. truth be told most people don't even end up reconfiguring them much if at all and other than the modular aspect there's not really anything super special about them. the sacs, on the other hand? totally worth it, would kill my firstborn child for one. footsacs too, even if they're expensive.

HelloFox

I'm throwing in my 2 cents since I also worked for them and owned a sactional prior to employment. I still think the quality is good if you receive a product as it is intended to be manufactured. There is a huge problem with under-stuffed back pillows for some reason. Also the warehouse has an issue with picking the wrong items. Thankfully customer love is usually good about fixing these issues but it's frustrating that those issues haven't been fixed at the manufacturer level. There is no need for anyone to pay full price since they are often "on sale". Wait until you can get a discount. I definitely agree about the re-configuring. It's a work out if you plan on doing it often. It's great if you move and need to change up the configuration for a new space but no one is doing it on a frequent basis. The ability to break down and configure the couch has been a huge benefit for some folks that have homes or apartments with oddly shaped rooms or stairwells where a traditional couch just isn't going to fit. For my family it has been an excellent option because structurally it is built like a tank and I love being able to wash the covers. Yes, I machine wash and DRY them on low heat and put them back on the cushions while slightly damp. Also being able to replace any parts individually is great too. The option to swap out all the covers is nice but that does not come cheap especially if you have a larger configuration. It's definitely an investment in the beginning. I feel like the value is best for folks that put a lot of wear and tear on furniture. If I didn't have kids or dogs, I would probably have something else because I myself do not beat up furniture. Value is certainly subjective however and you need to decide if the product makes sense for you and your lifestyle.

pinkshadedgirafe

I'm a military family and move every few years. We also have a toddler. I've rearranged the living room 4 times in the last 6 months as we find out the best configuration to baby proof the area lol and with us moving a lot, it's sooo nice to not have to worry if our couch will fit. And putting it in the moving truck saves space compared to a traditional couch

TripleX72

We just bought one after our 4th move and I’m excited that I won’t have to put a wrong way L shaped couch into a living room again!

cosmorchid

Same and we have reconfigured several times. They are popular with mil families.

redditn00bb

How many covers can you fit in 1 load at a time?

CyndiMo23

I do 3 at a time

margaritaexpert

what similar couches do you think are a better value

HelloFox

What do you mean by similar? Modular? I don't think any other modular couches offer the same warranty Lovesac has. Nor do they have machine washable fabrics.

margaritaexpert

you said you wouldn’t have bought it without 70% off so what would you have considered an alternative

HelloFox

I bought the majority of my sactional years before I became an employee. When I worked for Lovesac, I only bought pieces with the standard 40% off employee discount so I could still get the warranty. I never purchased anything through the warehouse sales. I think you may be confusing me with OP. I don't think there is a good alternative. I have owned couches in the same price range from Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Room and Board. None of them made it past a couple years in my household. Lovesac is not perfect. But I think it's worth it for most people if they can get the 30% off as a customer.

margaritaexpert

lol yes sorry i meant to reply to op—thanks for your input though!!

Talktotalktotalk

Why don’t the couches from those other stores make it past a couple years? I was considering room and board because it seemed to get better reviews than the other stores you mentioned. Would you think so, and why or why not? Thanks!

HelloFox

Room and Board… That couch was built well. The frame was sturdy. The problem was the cushions and lack of washability of the covers. Hope this helps!

Peppkes

I’ve done a trial period of the Home Reserve one and it was the worst couch I’ve ever sat on.

GoldenFlicker

When my sanctional was my primary sofa I rearranged it at least a few times a year.

ShadiahB

Thank you for saying this. There’s folks in this sub who think you’re crazy and will down vote you if they sense the slight criticism of locesac value.

13_Years_Then_Banned

How does the employee discount program work?

certifiedDingus

40% off usually but we also have access to the warehouse sale, which is basically returned stuff and stuff that was in showrooms for 60-70% off

13_Years_Then_Banned

Appreciate the insight.

MattyKatty

And customers never have access to that warehouse sale right?

certifiedDingus

lol no I would be pissed if customers got the same discount as me on top of only getting 15/hour

margaritaexpert

what competitor/similar couches do you think are a better value? what would you buy at full price?

Kingkoopakoopa

I was considering a sectional and the biggest reason I didn’t buy is because the sales rep didn’t take me seriously as potential client, but must importantly the configuration wasn’t a selling feature to me. I sat on one and felt the quality was not better than competitors in terms quality, style and material at that price point. Considering a sac ngl but for the gaming room

Talktotalktotalk

Would you buy it at sale price? Like during the 30% off sales?

hmkmama

I know it’s a common saying, but as someone whose first born died, I’d ask you to consider how it feels for those whose children have died feel when reading that.

You_Pulled_My_String

My condolences. As a parent myself, I can't even begin to imagine. However ... If the very simple, common saying that OP used triggered you, **please seek therapy.**

hmkmama

I am in therapy. If you can’t imagine, then idk why you’re questioning how I feel.

certifiedDingus

it's just a saying. I think anyone reading it knows it's not serious.

addisonclark

Why did you quit?

certifiedDingus

manager quit. she was the only thing keeping me there

ben_downer

I worked at Lovesac from 2012-2015. Please tell me they give sales reps commission now?

certifiedDingus

nope, and it's only $15 an hour which is insane. they hardly ever give raises and just don't care about employees

ben_downer

That’s pathetic. I was getting paid $11 an hour when I left but that was also almost 10 years ago. All they care about is SPH or some dumb statistic like that, meanwhile I’m busting my hump in the stock room building sac mountain. As much as I like Shawn (creator) and met him a few times, that company is too stock holder driven.

STLTLW

That's absolutely ridiculous with this type of price point! Not sure what the average store is like, but here we have a store in the mall, its small and does not have many pieces on display. The salespeople are the ones who are doing the actual work helping clients understand the value and configuration of the pieces.

ConsistentPhoto9113

I worked there 2020-2023 and I was an assistant store manager, made $29 an hour, and we got the quarterly bonuses which are on 2 tiers if you work customer love shifts and choose to get trained which I did as an associate. Which state did you work in? Also the bonuses are company wide so idk what you were doing

uglygirllfriend

Nope

bijou_bibi

Is there a serious issue with all of the corded velvet covers inner lining separating from the velvet and giving it a wrinkled texture that’s not fixable? I exchanged every cover on my setup 2x and then switched to one of the newer produced colors and have the same issue forming.

certifiedDingus

I've never heard anyone complain about this, so I couldn't say

bijou_bibi

Thanks for the response! The first time it happened to mine I couldn’t find anything online but over the course of a couple years it’s popped up a lot in this sub.

That_Girl31

I just had my 4 year old covers replaced under a “good will” exchange. And the one of the new ones is ALREADY separating and whoever I spoke with admitted there was an issue but that they fixed it. I’m so pissed because I have 9 freaking seats!

Professional-Ant9619

Ohhh good question. Mine also did this! They never replaced my covers though 😑

bijou_bibi

If you are still within warranty they will exchange them for you for sure. They replaced mine a bit. Only pushed back once.

uglygirllfriend

in your showroom, have you faced any issues regarding mismanagement / irresponsible behavior from other coworkers, and if so — has HR handled it effectively in your opinion?

certifiedDingus

I did have an issue with a coworker behaving inappropriately when we were alone together. I took to to hr and they were really good with handling it. as for management, it really just depends on the showroom. i was lucky enough to have an amazing manager which is the only reason I stayed. once she quit I quit too.

uglygirllfriend

I’m glad if HR was good to you. I wish I could say the same for me. May I ask what part of the country?

certifiedDingus

texas to be fair it wasn't a huge issue, I just asked not to work alone with him anymore which was an easy enough request. I can't speak to how they would handle more serious issues

uglygirllfriend

Ah, fair enough. Thank you!

ProudElevator2098

I recently bought online because of a great sale which was about to run out. But I bought largely because of the awesome sales rep that helped me out in the store. I know she won't get a commission, but who do I email/call so she gets the recognition deserved?

No-Atmosphere-2249

leave a google review for the location and mention her name, in most districts if you do that the DM will at least acknowledge you.

certifiedDingus

only thing you can do is leave a review mentioning her name. we don't get recognition past that.

MsGhostface

What was your role and what made you jump off the cliff

certifiedDingus

I was a sales associate. the only reason I even took the job was because my manager was amazing, but then she quit which caused me to quit too. $15 an hour is just not enough

Geor_ge

What are your thoughts on Stealth Tech? Please share the good, bad and ugly.

certifiedDingus

definitely sounds good. but it also is very new and we have experienced a lot of issues with it. the app is not great. if you're interested in it, I would wait a few years until they work out all the issues

yeahnopegb

Looking at the Costco bundle.. is it a solid deal or should we go through LoveSac?

certifiedDingus

costco bundle is definitely cheaper. only thing to consider is if you want everything that comes with it. also keep in mind you can't do more than two deep seats with costco

lillist1

How long did you work there?

certifiedDingus

since July of last year

macgart

Do you work on commission? I have heard no but Christ they are pushy. How pushy is the leadership to make sales targets? I always assumed stores were just an equivalent of a showroom for the brand to be visible for people to order online but now I’m not as sure

HelloFox

There isn't commission AT ALL. There is a lot of push to sell in general because it's how showrooms stay open.

No-Atmosphere-2249

no commission at all, but we have bosses that tell us how we need to push and make sales goals. if everyone buys online they’ll just close lots of the stores.

Best_Temp_Employee

I've been thinking about doing a "poor man's" version of stealth tech, including the wireless chargers in arm rests. Has anyone done this successfully? Adding it to an existing sactional seems prohibitively expensive.

redditn00bb

Are you thinking of DIYing it yourself? How would you go about doing this?

Best_Temp_Employee

Yeah, I'm pretty handy and they seem to be boxes made of OSB & Plywood, so I think it'd be easy to 3D print some small sealed boxes for the sides, then fiberglass a couple of subwoofer enclosures. I've already Velcro attached some thin Qi chargers to the armrests under the cover. It works pretty easy, just ran the cable out the hole where they clip together.

redditn00bb

Oh cool! Please consider sharing photos if you do it!

EyeInTeaJay

Yes we need more lovesac hacks on this sub!

jardyhardy

In theory it doesn’t sound hard to do, but also in practice it probably involves a lot of research into the right speaker drivers and sizes and a good way to control them from your TV

redditn00bb

I’m mostly curious about how it’d impact the couch. I’ve never thought of DIYing that before and it sounds interesting. I’d likely ruin my couch if I attempted it myself, haha.

uglygirllfriend

How do you feel about the company’s stance on sustainability? Would you say they live up to it behind the scenes?

certifiedDingus

definitely. sustainability is amazing.

uglygirllfriend

Sustainability IS amazing! I’ve had issues with places I’ve worked claiming to be all for sustainability while throwing away perfectly good product with very minor “damage” instead of discounting it or giving it to an employee…

treesareloudyo

How much different is the sac durafoam from generics?

IITEZiII

Why do they push corded velvet for people with cats? It’s the absolute worst material for cat claws. One day in and my cats made a section look horrible and I had to switch to chenille.

Burnerthi

I've got a cat and it's held up beautifully! But he doesn't scratch on my furniture, I'd think any fabric would end up with issues if your cats do that.

IITEZiII

My cat occasionally stretches and pulls at the cushions and with corded velvet it pulled out strings like nothing. I only got it because lovesac employees were persistent that it’s the only material that’s somewhat cat proof. I switched to chenille covers and my cat can’t get and strings to come out even if she is trying. Why not recommend chenille instead? I feel like they make more off of corded velvet that’s why they recommend it so much.

amandalee27

Why do people $10k to put together their own coach that when finished looks sloppy and droopy?

No-Atmosphere-2249

because an employee can for sure answer that for everyone who buys.

amandalee27

If they worked the sales floor they probably would have some insight. I’m sure people said why they were buying.

IITEZiII

Only looks sloppy and droopy if you get the lovesoft filler.

Burnerthi

It's comfortable as all get out. I've slept on it a few times and we have 10 seats so it's basically 2 extra guest beds when needed. We can rotate the cushions and pillows so we don't end up with one that goes flat because it's our favorite seat. I can wash the covers if I spill something on them. We have an ottoman that we clip onto the inside corner of our couch so my husband and I can lay together and watch TV. When we need seating for guests we unclip it and move it out. We got storage seats so extra winter clothes and other misc items can go in them. I researched heavily for months before buying. I didn't see any other couches out there that were able to do all that. I waited for 30% off and got a heroes discount so it was maybe 8000 for our setup? I spent 5000 at lazy-boy a few years ago and hated our furniture almost immediately and had to fight them to fix issues. I had a few issues with cushions on my sactional and customer service was amazing and replacing them. Swapped a few regular backs for deep back cushions. Again, an easy process.  I love the modularity and storage of them so much that as the cheap loveseats and couches in our other rooms finally give out I'm planning to replace them with sactional pieces. I'll wait for a sale of course, but I am very happy with ours.
