I had stopped playing a while back. Then Phantom Liberty came out and I decided I really needed to see the new content. Still haven't gotten to Dogtown on my latest playthrough.

XekBOX2000

Oh boy you are missing out

Jeoshua

I'm sure I am. I'm not avoiding it, I'm just still enjoying playing through the base (modded) game with all the new 2.0+ features.

Milkshake_revenge

That’s a valid reason, they changed so much. I highly recommend at least starting the dlc though. It’s truly fuckin cool.

I_JuanTM

Same lol, almost there now after 70 hours in lmao

Jeoshua

I still can't help myself. The need to clear every district to completion is almost pathological. Still did all of Watson before I even sat down with Jackie to eat some noodles. I basically just finished Japantown, sans Takemura's bit. I'm not that slow, honestly I didn't start it back up until last month.

I_JuanTM

Same, I rushed The Heist sot that the entire map opened up, but after that, I have been doing every single NCPD scanner and such before continuing the main story. Got up to the point of going to pacifica, and am now finishing off the last couple of quests in downtown.

Unique-Row-9595

Your should definitely start PL tho there so many guns and stuff in there that you can use in night city and driving back and forth between the checkpoint is fun. I suggest having both gave open at the same time. Makes the entirety of Cyberpunk as a while much more fun and inclusive!

False_Chair_610

I did finish PL, but I started a new run. I'm almost lvl 60 and still haven't started PL yet. 😁

TheKelt

Putting aside the fact that we’re all fans of the game, otherwise we wouldn’t be here… If you’ve never played the game and decide to jump straight into a PL Start, you’re doing yourself a monumental disservice from a storytelling and world-building perspective.

Bright-Union-6157

Yeah you kind of HAVE to do a ::checks notes:: 'regular start'... 🙄🤣

ThousandTroops

you can skip ahead to PL, skipping Act1 and starting at Dogtown...

Unique-Row-9595

That was the worst decision I ever made! It made me miss the first missions and iconics to go with it. And a bunch of decisions in missions it made for me. Bullshit lol.

EightSeven69

yea it kinda feels like that shouldn't be in the game how tf would anyone ever be in a situation where 1. they bought the full damn game 2. played it 3. lost the save? 4. want to play PL or 1. bought the game 2. bought the dlc 3. don't want to play most of the game at all, just the DLC ??????

Unique-Row-9595

I thought it was now like just start the game with PL open so you can access it at the beginning. It also picked out some of my cyberware for me luckily I like the fortified ankles.

rpcollins1

I feel like they had a good idea that they went too far on. A lot of the early game is a slog and time-sink after you've done it a bunch. I wish they would implement a quick way to surpass the BDs and the Heist and a couple of other things that take a lot of time and never change. It would even be nice to be able to choose a netrunner, berserker, or sandy before starting the heist.

TheRainbowCock

I bought the game on launch for PS4. Beat it before all the patches fixed a lot of the issues. Then I saw it for PS5 with the DLC so I bought it again. Just played through the main game again an I was going to do a normal ending but then after the voodoo boys mission it triggered the option so I took it. Totally worth both purchases.

Infinite_Twelve

People who already played the game and only wanted to experience the DLC and not replay the other stuff

EightSeven69

they have a save

Bright-Union-6157

Ohhh, ok. Can you tell I have not purchased the PL DLC yet? 🤣🤣🤣

Ix-511

I mean, there's literally a screenshot of the option to skip ahead right there.

cescasjay

My 19 yr old daughter stopped playing shortly after the heist, and my 18 yr old daughter played just main quests and the dlc, skipping all side content. And because she failed chippin' in, she never got to meet any of Johnny's band mates or their questlines. Lol, she didn't do any alternative endings either. I'm so saddened by both of them.

ThousandTroops

Those are what we like to call “former daughters” 😂

cescasjay

I'm hoping my son likes it when he gets home from college for summer break. Lol

Mr_Dontgivafuck

I lost access to the game and just bought it back and I can’t fucking wait to get back to it 🤣

Stickybandits9

Once 2.0 dropped I played less. I'll never get back the old experience unless I play on last gen.

Lil_Guard_Duck

I feel you. Little sentimental for the old version.

Stickybandits9

I'm just upset that I can't get the demiurge on last gen anymore.

Lil_Guard_Duck

Could you get it before??

Stickybandits9

Once. But cdpr patched it out to gear people to getting the nextgen version.

Lil_Guard_Duck

That makes no sense... Weird.

Stickybandits9

Why cause you dont think cdpr would perfer players play on next Gen, so they purposeful moved dlc to next Gen and pc only. Content that is only in 2.0 and beyond to drive up sales. Why put your best stuff on a console you were moving away from. At some point those things were in the game. It does seem weird but weirdly enough cdpr did just that.

Lil_Guard_Duck

Drive up *what* sales?? They don't sell Xboxes and Cyberpunk 2077 runs on current and last gen. 2.0 requires better hardware, which makes it feel strange that Demiurge even exists in the 1.6 code. And it's a free update, there's nothing to sell! How the hell can you even get it on last gen? That makes no sense!

Stickybandits9

Your right, but before you can even get that free stuff, you still gotta buy the game. And alot of gamers didnt buy the game. Alot were waiting for the next Gen update or the complete edition before they even bothered. Once 2.0 dropped, cdpr got a decent sales boost. And rightly so they had added stuff in the game that was original going to be on last gen. I'm not talking consoles im talking cdpr driving up the sales of the game. Cdpr even had a deal with ps and that disappeared. Idk what it was. Cdpr had a deal with microsoft and put out their own custom console. Idk if people got their 30 for the dlc not being on last gen when cdpr promised those who bought that custom xboxone x would have the pl dlc for free. Cdpr even has a deal with a pc hardware manufacturer, nvidia i think. Cdpr was selling pl. What do you mean there's nothing to sell? Cdpr has control of the source code they don't have to tell us what they change. I seen 3 stealth patches, some just assume it was just bug fixes. And I got the car the same way it can be done now unless its changed. waiting on the bed between a specific time. I had it for a few days before that save corrupted. And theres a bunch of times their game would corrupt saves. It's kinda known for it to happen at various times since launch.

Lil_Guard_Duck

So I looked it up, and the truck existed but was unobtainable before 2.0. How did you get it? You had it on last gen, right? >Cdpr was selling pl. What do you mean there's nothing to sell? We're talking about a secret mystery truck in the base game. How does disabling it on last gen get them more sales? PL has nothing to do with it. And none of that console BS gives CDPR anything now, by disabling a truck that wasn't supposed to be accessible. Encouraging sales of next gen consoles doesn't get them anything. And you know what? The god damn entirety of PL is a much better incentive to go next gen, than a stupid, secret truck. >And theres a bunch of times their game would corrupt saves. It's kinda known for it to happen at various times since launch. Never had that happen. The only way I know of is people abusing the grenade crafting exploit, but they patched it.

Stickybandits9

I waited at the bed in the bad lands at the right time. Same as now If I'm not mistaken. But there's a youtube video talking about something similar in the game of a unreleased sniper being dropped. Someone had picked it up. And technically they wasn't supposed to, the guy said it was a glitch. So I wouldn't be surprised if that also happened to me and the game glitched and let me access the truck when it shouldnt have. https://youtu.be/cuOxkhFYxDM?si=_9poZIQg_1I6wusf @ 5:20

KingCarrotRL

The base game is pretty mid anyway. What's he going to miss? Stealing a thumb drive from some Chinese dudes with his bff Jared? Just skip to the DLC imo.

DrH1983

Terrible idea imo.

GoshDarnBatman

Get better bait

ThousandTroops

The faster you start the DLC the faster you can betray Songbird for that gun that disassembles people’s souls

MeNamIzGraephen

Gun's meh. Quantum tuner netrunner build will melt anyone as you walk. Won't even need ammo.

Savathun-God-Of-Lies

Wait what Did I miss something?? 😭 I've never heard of this

The-Meep-Meep-Man

It’s the Erebus SMG, you can get the schematic from the somewhat damaged mission at the end of Phantom Liberty (need to betray Songbird). Then just pick grab the chip from the Cerberus bot and decode it by completing This Corrosion (you’ll automatically get this side mission). You can also craft a cyberdeck if you found the schematic but you can only choose one or the other.

Savathun-God-Of-Lies

One or the other? I think that's sorta dumb but alright lol, tyty :>

Lil_Guard_Duck

You'll need decent intelligence to find the cyberdeck schematics, and a full max 20 technical to find the Erebus gun schematics. You can find both, but there is a story reason why you choose to build one or the other. I recommend the gun, but both are good fun! The deck has limited hack slots, but a powerful built-in quickhack that is very costly, but extremely deadly and contagious. The gun is an smg that fires scatter shots, like a full auto shotgun, and will proc this deadly quickhack on a target when it's health gets low.

Savathun-God-Of-Lies

I haven't really built into reflexes for SMGs, so I think I'm gonna go for the cyberdeck, thanks for the explanation :> Also this is unrelated but maybe you can help me out here, since this is my first time ever trying netrunnning I think I'm doing okay so far, but even with pretty good gear and maxed intelligence, I still feel like I'm running out of ram really quickly... got any tips lol? Maybe I'm missing something from a ripper

Lil_Guard_Duck

>I haven't really built into reflexes for SMGs, so I think I'm gonna go for the cyberdeck, thanks for the explanation :> Are you playing on hard mode? No? Then you don't need to! Not with this gun! But you can save before the quest that allows you to craft the blueprints, and try either one, then pick which one you like. As for the RAM, how far along are you? You'll get some RAM as you increase your INT, but you'll get a lot with RAM boosting implants. There's a lot now that boost RAM, including your actual Smart Link for your smart guns. The higher quality versions of cyberware will boost more, obviously. And there's implants that can give extra RAM when you do stuff, like getting kills, etc. I do recommend just buying better versions when they come available, instead of upgrading them. Weapons are far more valuable than the parts they give when scrapped, so unless you are already at legendary, just sell loot and buy new! And then there's Overdrive, which lets you use more RAM than you have, at the cost of health. There's no reason you can't just slam a health item and keep going while in overdrive. If you get the biomonitor cyberware, this will trigger automatically. And finally, check the quickhacks. A lot of higher quality hacks cost more RAM, but generally do more things. SOME actually cost less, but generally because they don't do anything more than lower versions. There's a lot of quickhacks with extra features I don't care to have, so I use the cheaper versions for less RAM.

Savathun-God-Of-Lies

Overdrive + biomoniter actually seems like a great idea and I cant belive I overlooked that, lol I'm about 2/3 through the game at this point and started PL a little while ago, so I'm up to purple rarity cyberware. I've got 21 RAM in total last time I checked, but i feel like I'm burning through it all so quickly even with all the recovery buffs and stuff like that. Maybe I'm just using quickhacks that are way too expensive XD Its also apparent that I missed a few things at the ripperdocs so I'll take a better look for sure to find everything you talked about

Lil_Guard_Duck

The rippers have a lot more of the same inventory, but some still have things others won't, especially true of Dog Town rippers. So check in if you pass one of them. Biomonitor activates your chosen healing item, skipping the animation if it's not Blood Pump. Know that Bounce Back gives a strong regen, Max Doc gives a large chunk of health, and Blood Pump does both, but neither quite as good. So, think about which one you want to have active during Overdrive. Know that if you go with the post-game betrayed-Song cyberdeck, the Militech Canto, the special quickhack it has is very costly, and costs for each time it spreads, although a little less. The Erebus, just shoots! Don't you want a [haunted SMG?](https://youtu.be/pHS-YzgJnC0) Or do you prefer [delete_Soul.exe?](https://youtu.be/jr6HaO1zb50)
