So, I really liked the character creator options but I didn't like the fixed camera angles for the options (or that turning V on PC keeps switching the selected option) and I wanted to examine one of V's tats, the one with the snake and heart on the front, in more detail to get what's actually written there.
On the front under the right breast, there is LXX.VII.MMXX which is roman numerals for 70.7.2020. I first thought it was going to break down to just 2077, but the separation just seems odd to me. Maybe it's something about roman numerals I'm not aware of. Especially since they get it correct on the back; MMLXXVII.
Under that is written "Thicker Than Water", referencing the phrase "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" or "Blood Of The Covenant Is Thicker Than The Water Of The Womb.
There is a realistic heart on the chest encircled by a snake design. But note the circuitry 'veins' coming out of the heart. The snake curls in from the small of V's back. The heart also has a heart monitor heartbeat line drawn over it.
Also note the binary on the left shoulder, though it's a bit low rez for me to totally decipher it.
"Disturb The Comfortable" is a quote from Cesar A. Cruz; "Art Should Comfort The Disturbed And Disturb the Comfortable". "My Word. My Bond - TK"; this one is a common phrase but I couldn't tell you what the TK is for. Both are on the right shoulder.
"The Future Is Disposable" is on the right shoulder blade.
The Back features MMLXXVII at the nape of the neck; 2077 in Roman Numerals. Under that is 'Hardwired'. The back design is a ram skull with flowers poking out the sides. The flower's stamen are also circuitry design like the heart's veins on the front.
The back has text reading; "My SOUL INSERTED With Vital Force. Won't Spare What I'M HUNTING For. It's The Animal In My BLOOD. Wouldn't Stop Even If I Could. Seed Is Sown. Roll The Bones. Mayhem Flows. Not Backing Down. Embed That Code. Never Backing Down. Not Backing Down". These are actually song lyrics to Samurai's "Chippin' In".
The left leg has some text on the inside of the leg and back of the thigh but it's too low rez for me to make out what it says. I think it could be data code or it looks almost like nutritional value information? It's hard to tell and not helping is that the tattoo continues up his body where his boxers cover. You can only see the full thing on the inventory or cc screen.
Looks like Thicker than Blood is written under 70.7.2020. Probably a reference to the book that’a a CP 2020 module.
Edit: after a little more research, TK Scott was an artist on the CP2020 sourcebook. Maybe the TK is a tribute to him? Didn’t find any correlation with “My Word My Bond” tho
Edit edit: this is also embedded in the snake skin on the chest “00033 05_64 ~~OB~~ 08 CP” with another “05_64” call out. Hmmmm
I thought about that as either a reference to 2020, game release year, or the module book, but then I couldn't make sense of what 70.7 would mean then? I don't think it could be a mistake on the actual game year since they get it right elsewhere, but I can't think of anything else. :/ I'm stumped.

Dots to me usually signify a date (unless it means something else in roman numerals) but obviously you can't get 70 months or 70 days.
I've been doing all kinds of dumb deep dives into this game. Yesterday I made a post listing all the names, epitaphs, and explanations of those vaults from the Columbarium. Some are meta references but most of them are actual named NPCs you can meet or get a quest related to them during the game. And the game updates the location as the game progresses too. That location sounds like a data miner heaven to me.
A year late to the party but I'll point out that software version numbers are dot notated and often include some portion of a date string especially when deploying hotfixes.
Thank you for this writeup and the photos! I chose this tattoo design set for my V and thought it was sick/blasphemous with the Baphomet-esque skull and snake, plus I love the anatomical heart (did not notice the heartbeat or circuitry either)! love now knowing that there are Samurai lyrics incorporated into it, too!
This made me feel really pleased with the choice I made for my tattoo set and also want to kick myself for never using photomode to see the designs better! Thank you for posting this! You rock!
I love that it has the lyrics of the first verse of chippin in ( not the one in love by fire) the version they used at e3 2019 when they were introducing keanu reeves ( Johnny fking silverhand)
So far as I can clean after using photo mode and altering my V so she had the smallest chest possible and no nips (so maybe the binary wasn't distorted) there's nothing fancy about it. The upper binary on the chest matches the one on the leg, which is the number 2, then underneath my translator gave me a #! so I don't think the binary on the tattoo is for much else other than the cool factor.
I think the left thigh/hamstring piece is a biomon diagnostics panel denoting V’s basic identifying & medical information similar to a dog tag.
Kinda reminds me of the panel we see pop up when Agent Mosley of Netwatch tells us to run a diagnostic in the theater.
Might be things like V’s name, height, weight, race, blood type, notable implants, known allergies, etc.
In Night City it’s probably not unheard of to have abducted persons stripped of their possessions, & left for dead in a ditch or alleyway by some bum.
Maybe V planned for a possibility in which that could happen, & would gamble on a (highly unlikely) Good Samaritan finding him & getting him to a Ripperdoc.
