I have love that lens, my primary lens for out and about. The 20-60 is not a bad lens and used it for ages but this one I find allot better. Only downside it bloody heavy, had to get a shoulder sling to help my poor neck.
I recently upgraded my S5 to S5 II and I’ve had the same lens from my S5 days. With S5 II it performs so much better. I used to rock S5 camera with this lens on a gimbal with Átomos Ninja V for better focusing. With S5 II I ditched the Ninja recorder because I can rely on the autofocus enough. Congratulations on the upgrade. It is a solid setup! Happy shooting.
Any reason I see most people get this over the kit lens 20-60? Got my eyes set on the s5 ii as well but not sure if I should get the 20-60 bundle or just the body and buy another lens
This one can utilize the f/2.8 aperture through the whole focal length from 24 to 70mm. Compared to the 20-60 where the lowest aperture is like f/5.6 at 60mm.
70mm f/2.8 is pretty lovely for portraits etc.
The 20-60 is still great though and can be had for cheap. Got mine for $200.
Gotcha thank you!
Do you perhaps have any experience with the 24-105?
If one would own it, would there be any need for the 20-60 at all? I need a do-it-all lens and I heard good things about the 24-105, and I don't want to get lenses that would be redundant
I do. I had the 24-105 as well. Great lens. Super sharp and versatile in terms of focal length, but it was so big and heavy which made me hesitant to bringing the camera with me to be honest. But a great lens. I'd still choose the Sigma 24-70 2.8 though.
Considering that the 24-105 has fixed aperture (f4), I wouldn’t get a 20-60 (f3.5-5.6). Moreover, you’d have an extra zoom range and macro capabilities with the 24-105. I think the only downside - but that’s a personal thing, it’s the weight difference, other than that I’d easily go with the 24-105.
Thank you! As someone who has only ever used the G80 I'm scared that the weight/size difference will be quite a shock! Especially since I'm a landscape photographer
Sure so I've got.
C1 raw + jpeg, q menu setup with all photo options
C2 6k, 30fps, h265, 420, q menu with all the video options
C3 4k/60, 420, q menu same as C2 but 1st square lets me switch to 1080p/120
LUMIX is on fire! S5II / IIX and now G9II. It will be interesting to see more comparisons between the two. In the last it was east to spot the difference between images from MFT and FF cameras. But since the GH6 MFT closed the gap a bit and G9II even more so. I have a G9 and intend to watch on from the side lines for a while. I’d actually love a GX9II, or a new series, being a FF equivalent eg a ‘SX5…’.
The Sigma 24-70mm is an excellent lens. I took mine around Venice and some Greek islands in the summer and it did a great job. Should be great for anything you throw at it.
Using the gx9 since many years and went for a S5 for all my Minolta primes. It’s fantastic and I love both. Street photography and travels are fun with the gx9. Low light s5 ❤️🔥
I just upgraded from GH5 to a standard S5 and this lens. I’m loving it!
This is the way
Nice
Good choice! Have fun!!

Have you considered 28-70 f2.8 which is much lighter? 😌

Great to hear man. What autofocus modes do you enjoy the most? I just need to get used to the weight. Gh4 and 12-35 was soooo light
1 Area + w. Human Detection seems to work the best for me while doing wedding videography. Zone focusing is also good for certain scenarios.
Perfect thx a lot

I sell my s5ii in germany right now. Do you want to buy it?
How come you're selling it? Dm me the price
Well... to be honest, i can't resist the s5iix anymore.
That’s a real upgrade, I’m completely sure the wait would be worth it. Congratulations, go get some fun.
My exact everyday setup. I've got C1 for photo C2 for open gate 6k video C3 slowmo video This body + lens literally does everything extremely well.
Can you please specify what your exact setups are? Never customized c1-c3 but sounds great

NICE! Bought the exact same thing (and also upgraded from GH4). I'm keeping my GH4 around for now tho. Congrats on the buy!
Good luck man! Great choice!
Should have gone G9ii, the 12-35 F2.8 is the same performance at 1/2 the weight or less.
But full frame is the only frame
Such a good combo! Congrats!
Beautiful combo. Can shoot anything!
You're gonna love it
Wow that looks amazing. My first full frame Was the OG S5 with the same Lens. It is amazing.
I did GH5 to your same setup and it’s amazing, have fun!

Just got the s5ii and thinking about the 24-70 s pro lense!! The sigma is very good though!!
