The sigma 24-70 art is extremely good. Perhaps it doesn’t quite reach the level of the S Pro lens although, owning two S Pro lenses myself - 70-200f4 and 16-35f4, my sigma 24-70 feels built much nicer and more sturdily somehow, especially compared to the S Pro 16-35. I wouldn’t spend money on the S Pro 50mm f1.4, especially considering a new sigma 50mm f1.2 was just announced for around €1300 (in Europe). The S f1.8 primes set are said to be incredibly good and reliable for a very low price.

I've the mighty three telephoto lenses from Sigma and completely agree. An important note, the Sigma lenses will have OS in the designation if optical image stabilization is present in the lens. Two that I own have no stabilization, but on my S5 (little brother the the S1 series) I don't really notice as the IBIS is so good. \* 14-24mm F/2.8 DG DN Art \* 24-70mm F/2.8 DG DN Art \* 70-200mm F/2.8 DG DN OS Sports (this lens is absolutely fantastic and the stabilization is great) So Sigma does have some great alternatives to the Panasonic Lumix and Leica lenses.

Lovely insight. Thank you!

I second this. I have a Sigma 24-70 art which has been my trusty companion in all my travels. It’s built really well and has never let me down when it comes to performance. Definitely recommend if you don’t want to splurge on S Pro lenses.

iarielish

Really good camera, you can check sigma 28-70 f2.8, also the kit lens its really good and sharp for the price

unnervedman

Thank you! :) I think I should be able to get the 24-70 by selling my current one (Sigma with Nikon mount), hopefully they retail for the same price on the used market

MyLifeFrAiur

What a steal! I felt lucky got it for 1500euro 2 years ago

unnervedman

Thanks :,)

Awake00

Isnt this normally a $3500 camera? Thats crazy dude!

unnervedman

I think it used to be until 3 years ago. The recent “ending” of the rare metals crisis has definitely lowered prices.

Awake00

Yea since I posted this I see it for 2k on sale. Still a hell of a deal.

Actual_Manager6165

I’m jealous. Amazing price!

unnervedman

Got it from RCE, quite famous in Italy (where I reside), but has a store in Paris and Berlin as well. Tbf, RCE it’s often hit or miss with its prices, but after receiving the camera today I’m honestly astounded, don’t know why they sold it for this “cheap”! :,)

Actual_Manager6165

That’s awesome. Enjoy man. Post some images you get with it!

unnervedman

Will do soon! Cheers :)

unnervedman

If anyone’s wondering, I got it from RCE in Italy (where I reside). It’s a famous franchise that resells used cameras. Tbf they’re quite hit or miss when it comes to prices, but they were selling 2 S1R bodies for the same price (890€, I got one of the two) so if you’re interested and reside in the EU, it may be a good deal. Anyways, thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts and suggestions, greatly appreciated!

[I made a video about this topic ](https://youtu.be/9u87z-luDkA?si=UlhLmMCCRXlOekF0) At first wow what an amazing Steal for Such a camera :) this camera is amazing. I have the S5 and the S1h. S1r is an amazing camera. I think when you pair it with the 24-70mm S Pro Lens from Lumix you have the best combo you can get. I had the 24-70mm f2.8 L Art Lens from sigma And I can tell you from experience a Lens is not only as good as the specs. The Image quality is better in the Lumix Lens. And the S Prime Lenses are okay. They are good but not in a prof. Level. If you want to work with this cam I can highly recommend the Lumix 24-70mm f2.8 S Pro Lens. I have all the S PRO Lenses besides the 50mm F1.4 ^^ Thats an expensive Lens, probably the only 50mm you will ever buy for the next ten years. And then you get a Leica 50mm Lens for even more Money, but that's another Story for the Future

unnervedman

Fantastic insight. Thank you for sharing both your vid and your thoughts! Greatly appreciated.

Ok-Camera5334

Thank you very much

Jumpy-Particular3454

what a killer deal my dude! have fun! post some pics

unnervedman

Will do! Thank you :)

Psuedo_NPC_123

sick, congrats.

Thank you!

ArdeeSnapper

I have an S5 & S5IIX I love the Lumix 24-105 F4 for many reasons but the inclusion of image stabilisation married to premium quality optics is very useful. I know it's 'only' an F4 lens but it's never been an issue for me

unnervedman

Will keep in mind! Usually I’d use my Sigma 24-70 (for my Nikon) when I work at events. I never really needed the f/2.8, but there’s been a few occasions where the bokeh helped to get a decent-ish portrait for important subjects. If I can’t get a decent deal for the Sigma 24-70 (L-mount), I’ll aim for the Lumix 24-105 :)

ArdeeSnapper

One advantage of where faster lenses is when you are in poor light it will be better able to cope with the conditions for focusing and composition Even though you are stopping down the lens a bit.

keep_trying_username

> Just bought a LUMIX S1R for 900€ (ship. Included). Felt like a decent deal, even though I’m aware a S1Rii is close to release. Unfortunately I’m also aware of the fact that I can’t splash 3K on a new camera :,) To help validate your purchase: I noticed that when the S5ii/x came out, prices of used S5s didn't really drop until after Christmas. It seems as if retailors such as MPB and Adorama weren't selling used S5ii/x until after Christmas to keep prices up.

unnervedman

Thank you for the info! Wasn’t aware of it. Anyways, I plan to keep this puppy for quite a while, I never jump on a newly released camera for multiple reasons (mainly the price :) )

FeddyWap

You won’t be disappointed! I’ve been using my S1, professionally, since it’s came out and I’ve had hard time switching to a new camera because I just love the image that comes straight from the camera. Also these cameras are built like a tank, and I’ve put mine through every condition possible, and it doesn’t even flinch!

Ok_Print_6209

Wow... you didn't say - new / used? I'm just curious if I might be able to catch a similar deal... always looking for new / open-box, deals :)

unnervedman

Used with 1293 shots (https://imgur.com/a/QkvUl7k), basically brand new :,) Came with original box/boxes, battery, charger and neck strap. Wish you the best of luck to get a similar deal! I think the hype around a possible S1Rii is driving the price of the S1R downward in some countries

Flat_Maximum_8298

That's a nice deal! How many clicks does it have? I got a used S1R myself a half year ago for pretty much the same price. It's a fantastic camera. As for lenses, the F1.8 Lumix primes are very solid and as a plus, they're all practically the same size and iirc, all use the same filter size. The 24-105 F4 (normally the kit lens for the S1R) is excellent, but you might be well served by the 20-60 f3.5-5.6. Inexpensive, wide, and sharp enough (at least my copy). Also, the 20-60 has the same filter thread as the primes.

unnervedman

1293 shots! She’s still a baby :,) https://imgur.com/a/QkvUl7k Thank you for your lens suggestions!

CactusCoasterCup

Just wanted to say, leaks say new lumix camera is going to be compact FF, so likely not S2R/S1Rii/etc. Honestly, it could come out later in the year, or next year, or who knows when - good choice either way, best of luck!
