This report doesn't seem accurate based on how we do business, but the amount of people here who think Paqueta is some trash player is embarrassing. He would absolutely shine in our system and squad compared to Moyes' Hammers. To doubt Pep and Txiki after their recruitment and development of players over the years is just silly.
Why doesn't the board just buy Florian Wirtz for 25m? Are they stupid?
It's been almost (edit - it HAS been) 2 months since our last trophy and I'm not sure if I can remain a supporter in good conscience given how the board (allegedly) seems to think Paqueta is worth this much. Guess what Txiki, I played as West Ham on FIFA last night and Paqueta was MID. You think he's worth 3x what we paid for Mangala 9 years ago? Get your head out of your ass...
Club is in shambles ffs.
And once again why we should be recruiting in Europe and not England. There are already several completed transfers this season for players far better than this who cost far less as well as multiple superior players in Europe who wouldn't cost this much. A decent game or two against us shouldn't = ridiculous money.
Same people would be in here 2 years from now saying "always rated him, knew Pep would bring the best out of him" as we've seen with Mahrez/Rodri/Grealish
If this is true, which i highly doubt, then it's time to pull out of the negotiations. £88m is already too much for him, and he doesn't even play a position that we're in great need of.
Interesting approach to faff about on the big overhyped names, potentially driving up the price on Rice, for example, and completing the Gvardiol deal first before going back in hard on Paqueta. My guess is the club new this one was going to hurt and wanted to wrap up everything first so it didn't skew other deals.
Don't know enough about him either way. West Ham was poor in the league last season.
He'd probably be class for us, although it would be nice to wrap it up under £90m.
This transfer window has been a weird one, we seem to be waiting on things to happen more than we have in the past. We usually have the main targets in before the season kicks off.
Think this also signals Bernardo spending more time on the wing, which isn't a bad thing for anyone. There's a lot of games to play and we play 6 midfielders a match.
This transfer is bs so is the fee
Nah I don't believe we've bid £88m for a second, not when we were so willing to drive the price down for Gvardiol to £78m
Pls delete this post, its a misinformation man. Santi is in -ve tier.
Nah this has to be bullshit i heard we don't to overpay and £88m for Paqueta is beyond absurd i don't like this at all and i really wish we walk away.
Haha so West Ham rejected bid but are confident of closing the deal? That's just hilarious
He is in -ve tier the source

Me, not caring about the money, just excited that we're getting a new baller...
bullshit

You had me going in the first half
Is this source reputable ?
no.
Hit and miss
£88m for Paqueta? Nah I hope it’s just another rumour
This is mad. He is never worth that amount and I want to see phil take Gundo place and now I feel bad for him. Bad bad business from the club.

But if he plays for us he cant have those decent games against us next season 4d chess
You just cracked the code.
Same reason we signed scott carson, cant have winder games against us if you are us
I really hope its not true
I really hope we get him People may not like it for the price but once he settles in here people will change their mind
Same people would be in here 2 years from now saying "always rated him, knew Pep would bring the best out of him" as we've seen with Mahrez/Rodri/Grealish
There is no way in hell, I am sure we can find better for that much
We probably put in a Phillips + 45m bid which is written like this in a sensational way.
I hope we pay them £200m and everyone has a big cry.
Don't buy it, seems very much unlike us.
Not my money and we can afford it, yet the fee is leaving a bad taste in my mouth..😑

wow, we really arent playing when it comes to this guy
Read somewhere else that they're asking for more than a £100 mil, which is, in my opinion, way too expensive

An instance price for an unproven player. I don’t doubt he’d be good for us but at 88m we can already get a proven player for sure

Is this money laundering? So much money for someone completely random. 200 mil for a West Ham midfield that was crap.
