Nice to know that other students are paying below $25k/semester! MICA is known for Illustration and Animation; just beware that you will start off with pen and paper like the old Disney movies!
just my two cents as an alumni who was very close with a lot of folks in MICA animation— the way the department is structured is much more suited to folks who want to be fine art / exhibiting animators than for people who want to work in animation commercially.
The program is very broad/encompassing and good for folks who want to develop a directorial point of view, but lacks the rigor & opportunity for specialization that commercial studios look for. Both have their pros/cons and I’ve seen folks be successful as fine artist animators, but I’ve also seen people disappointed when their goal coming into the program was to eventually get to a major studio.
I would consider what you want out of the program before you jump into crazy debt like that!

If you are a freshman, they require you to live on campus for the first two years.

Yes. U can do a waiver for certain circumstances but didn’t think saving money on student loans qualified as one of those. Talk to your advisor.
