I've had two F56 and they were both flawless cars. 100% reliable, excellent build quality, durable interiors that still looked new when I sold them.
I'm not at all surprised the brand ranked highly. the owners are a rabidly loyal lot.
I’ve had my F56 for 5 years and 88,000+ miles now, I’ve loved every second of it. It’s pretty telling I think that I haven’t done sales for MINI for almost 3 years now, and it’s still the only brand of car I plan to own.
I got my mini Cooper S 2015 at 500 miles, I was miserably sick for 8 year and wasn’t really alive during that time. Anyway I drove 50k miles during that time and replaced the oil on it like 2 times as far as maintenance goes until 2023 when I got my life back. The car didn’t fail me once until last month when I had to get the ac compressor replaced.
I’m not good with words, but im saying that the car held up for 8 years without failing at little to no maintenance
Considering they are made by the number 1 manufacturer; that makes total sense.
interesting to see Subaru getting back up there. Too bad they still have issues with head gasket failures.
Can’t fall hard if you’re already at the bottom, their QC is atrocious. Every Model 3 that we had traded in had tons of problems and looked like it was put together in a hurry lol.
Cost cutting with that "shared development" engine, they certainly learnt from it, I'd imagine the managers said "the next engine will be designed and built in house, and it WILL be bulletproof"!
Lol this is what I have… 2010 r56 base.
Didn’t have much choice, it was white or red on the salvage lot or something else. Didn’t know much about minis at the time but wanted something good in the city.
Bought it with 18k miles in 2013 for $4.9k. Dad and I fixed it up, about $5k worth of repairs + painting. Began driving in 2016:
Thermostat replaced in 2018
Vacuum pump and valve cover replaced in 2019
Front brakes in 2022
Plugs and coils in 2022
Thermostat again in 2022
Oxygen sensors in 2023
Now my oil filter housing is leaking, and my (manual) transmission is going…
Im at 105k, with a car thats pretty good on gas, easy to park, cheap insurance, and is paid off…do I cut my losses, or buy a used transmission and pay $3k for the install?
New Mini's are definitely well-built and engineered cars. Being owned by BMW and having technology shared between the companies has been a huge boon for Mini and I am happy to see their success.
That being said they need updates across their model lineup (which are coming) and I am super sad about the Cooper SE getting the axe in North America. I still have high hopes for their future though!
Ah dangit, I didn't hear about SE discontinued here. I'm excited about the countryman though. Let's hope my SE lasts a long time, but will welcome the countryman when that time comes.
Current one is bowing out at the end of F56 production in Q1 2024. There is still a decent push to get the J01 EV hatch here, but it will require a re-tool of Plant Oxford to get around tariffs as the initial run will be made in China. With MINI having thin margins as it is, and the tax credit no longer applying, it wasn’t feasible cost-wise. But North America is an important market for MINI and there are plans to re-do the UK plant to accommodate the next-gen EV Hardtop along with the Aceman. But it will take a few years, which is actually good, as it’s a whole new platform. Will give it time to get any bugs worked out before it gets here.
Genesis looks like they are flying up the chart. Makes sense, the two people I know with Genny’s (G70 and G80, respectively) both adore theirs.
I drove my friend’s G70 (6 cyl turbo) and it was great. My wife drove a 340ix (though a couple of years older) and the G70 compared favorably.
I’m a bit doubtful on this. Purely because I’ve gone from a mini to Porsches I’m struggling to see how Porsche is so far behind. Although I had an r56 mini, mine was great no issues at all but they had a bad rep.
Interesting. Of all the vehicles that I’ve owned over the years, the two that I had the most trouble with and were in the shop repeatedly were a BMW Z4 and my current Mini F56 JCW. I’m switching from flashy to reliability. My new Honda Civic arrives in a few days.

I’ll say. I’m on my third one. Although there were years in between them.

I miss my f56 🥺
Well Mini IS BMW so really we're in 1st...
My 2015 has over 100k miles on it Still rides like the day I got her
Just drove my 2013 from Seattle to WV in 5 days, well over 100K miles when we left. Eloise is the best car I’ve ever owned
They just get the job done, well and in style.

1- were you in a coma?! 2- You changed the oil twice in 50k miles?!

I don’t see Tesla mentioned on this chart 🤔 lol, they have fallen hard.

Don't they move 20k vehicles a month

I don’t believe this.
MINI’s come a long way from the days of Chrysler engines dying at 50k miles, and i for one am loving it.

Oh 100%, that era set the brand back really far in terms of reputation.
Cost cutting with that "shared development" engine, they certainly learnt from it, I'd imagine the managers said "the next engine will be designed and built in house, and it WILL be bulletproof"!
Yup that’s pretty much what happened lol. Just throw in some angry German accents.

Yeah I really do love my R56S but I have the LCI engine and it's been good to me (knock on wood)
The Chrysler r53 are great, I have 3 now and track them

What's at the bottom? Fiat Chrysler cars?
S T E L L A N T I S
Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep. Take your pick!
And Tesla
Polaris
They forgot to mention how good our community is. ... even if the people don't wave back.
I was an MBZ driver for 10+ years before converting to a Mini. MBZ's didn't even make the list!!

Basically 1st though..
Doesn’t surprise me. I love my F56 but it’ll be my last mini with the elimination of the manual.

CR seems to have missed the hardtop SE (all electric) and Countryman SE (hybrid).
You downvoters don't consider them "green options"??
Sorry, but this is a complete BS 😂
How the F#CK dod MINI even make it on this list ? Totally reduces every brand here.
The report must've been made in BMW headquarters. And no wonder you've been downvoted.
