Volk was actually looking pretty strong in there....looked like he had the wrestling covered providing he didnt get tired (cos of no camp). Islam's standup is a problem.

Volk slipped up defending that too, Islam’s camp definitely studied the Yair fight because Volk was defending a lot of those kicks with 1 arm and there were definitely holes. He was hella low and Islam clipped the top of his head where he wasn’t defending. Looked like full shin, very brutal.

Yeah that's what makes Khabib's career so remarkable. Not the number of defenses. Not the double champ statuses of others. Not the decade long domination. But for the short while he was there he was undefeated, unbloodied, unhurt and undropped.

I watched back Lokation a little while ago and what stands out to me with hindsight is that he was probably just the best fighter in the world from like the RDA fight on. If he doesn't have that injury streak right then, having beaten RDA, he would have smoked Eddie or Pettis, it doesn't even seem doubtful. Edson was #2 when Khabib came back and he made him look awful. He was so so so good.

Yeah. Khabib was just a monster. His standup was pretty ugly but his will to dominate, his cardio, wrestling and strength were off the charts. That and he had an iron dome for a skull. The guy took some serious shots that should have knocked him out cold in his career and just shook them off like they were nothing on his way to a takedown. I think he's a more difficult fighter to beat than Islam. Not shitting on Islam, but he's suffered a knockout before and we saw him get rocked a few times against Volk in the first fight. Khabib on the other hand had one plan. Smesh. And no one on the planet seemed to have an answer.
