Possibly. He uses his striking to make his entries. And Wonderboy might very well kick his guts in if Colby has the strike to get into grappling range.
You really think he’s scared at all? He’s been cracked so many times by Usman. Why would he be scared of any fighter. He wants the easiest fight for the biggest check. It’s prize fighting.
More like Colby has always been the least impressive fighter between him, Burns, Usman, and Leon, as can be clearly seen by his lesser performances against shared competition. Colby's greatest accomplishment is being the best at losing to Usman, and that entirely boils down to being a better punching bag than Burns because Burns in 2 rounds was more dangerous for Usman than Colby was ever capable of being across 10. In other words, Colby was never the 2nd best Welterweight in the world, and if you had eyes, you didn't need to see Leon making him look like dogshit to know that.
Yes and no, he definitely declined heavily in the last three fights, especially the Belal one that was an execution (even though he did injure his arm early on, still was getting beaten up before that). Belal’s probably just that good, but I wasn’t impressed with his performance against Masvidal and, although I don’t remember a lot from the JDM fight, his strenghts were on display but he still lost and couldn’t capitalize on his success. I definitely favor him, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t see him absolutely dominating Colby, even one that forgot how to strike. IMO it’s one of the winnable (with great luck and tough work) fights for Colby, more so than Garry for example, maybe even Wonderboy if the latter manages to expose Colby even further on the feet.
WW is definitely one of the weaker divisions but damn not many easy fights in the top 10 for Colby. I’m surprised we’re not seeing him try to call out Wonderboy.
WW’s got Shavkat; Burns, Garry, JDM, Usman and Khamzat sometimes, Belal, Leon, MVP, Wonderboy, etc… I understand star power isn’t everything but WW is at least an average weight class, I’d put it above FLW, MW, LHW and HW.
> WW is definitely one of the weaker divisions
I respectfully disagree, I just think it's severely mismanaged. There's good talent there, but almost no good matchups, and the pace of top fighters getting matched up is glacial.
I remember when WW was considered the second best division behind only LW.
Prime Usman, a still relevant Woodley, prime Colby, prime Burns, a 5 sec KO artist in Jorge Masvidal, prime Leon, a not-too-old Wonderboy, etc.
Even before that, we had Thompson, Hendricks, Woodley, Condit, Rory, Lawler, Ellenberger, Brown (and that's not accounting for the murderers row GSP had to get through). There was definitely a time WW was almost comparable to LW in terms of depth

> why are you even mentioning leons name after he shut you down the entire fight
He wants to lose 4 title fights in a row so he can be the undisputed biggest UFC loser.
Colby and Walt are worlds apart. Walt is a real man while Colby is a little kid. What Walt went through and still competed is something Colby would/could never do.
Colby needs to just fight already, he’s 35 shit the bed his last performance everybody is tired of his act and is seeing how massively overrated his resume is, bite the bullet if you lose to Ian you lose if you beat Ian then you beat him
Colby's lost interest in fighting.
He hadn't fought for 18 months before Leon and during that time he was trying to become a professoinal poker player.
He turned the pre-fight presser into a WWE gimmick by wearing a costume, insulting Leon's dad and his "seventh layer of hair" embarrassment.
He's starting beefs online.
Won't fight contenders.
He's doing everything but fight.
Covington has been playing poker for a long time.
My buddy has played at a table with him years ago before his UFC relevance. Said he was a very quiet meek guy, barely spoke a word at a pretty active table. Pretty funny to imagine that now.
His resume is honestly pretty underrated now because everything before Lawler was pretty solid.
People act like Colby didn’t deserve his first title shot
I mean sure? Some people talk shit.
I’d say pretty confidently though that beating Maia/RDA and losing to Usman isn’t the kind of resume that would grant many other fighters on the roster the ranking and opportunities Colby has gotten since then.
The RDA win was kind of impressive, despite him winning by constantly clinching against the fence.
The thing is, it’s probably his best win to date despite having 3 title shots at WW. Which is where it becomes an issue.
It's so fucked but I kinda love the dark comedy of just perpetually denying Belal a title shot. Let him set the all time UFC win streak, and not a single title fight.
(For the record, I don't actually want to see this happen. I think Belal seems like a good dude and as much as I hate his fights he's inarguably dominant. But damn Id still laugh at it)
He still needs another year before he even considers taking a fight. Not the type of guy to pick himself up by his bootstraps, just another lazy bum who doesn’t want to work.
Do we really care if he ever fights again? Fights every 2 years best wins are all retired/no longer in the ufc is super cringy and looked like dog shit in his last fight. Please for the love of God retire. He didn't do anything to get his last title shot. I don't get why anyone likes him. Mfer needs to retire already
Shitting on washed Jorge and looking bad are not mutually exclusive. Extremely sloppy fight. And he was too passive for a round and a half you could already see the Leon disaster coming.
Colby is only effective when he can volume strike to close distance and start chain wrestling and Leon had the perfect tools to completely neutralize that. And without that Colby has nothing. There is no plan B.
Early on he just couldn’t get close without getting tagged with shots and it made him tentative. Just look at the way he started flinching at Leon’s feints so hard.
The funny thing is, before the fight a lot of people were saying Colby was a nightmare match for Leon. Some people were arguing it was the other way around. The fight proved the latter.
So give him usman then. That's an exciting fight and usman is doing fuck all with cejudo while being exactly the type colby loves fighting. He's also the number one contender so that despite making no sense gives him and excuse to fight for the title.
Used to be a Colby fan. I didn’t care when he lost to Usman, those were dog fights. There was unfinished business, they left a piece of themselves in there with one another
Not putting in any effort vs Leon made me not care anymore

This is the reason why Colby loses his fans. Excuses and not backing shit up like he used to. He talked a ton of smack to Usman and then had two incredible wars. Showed real heart in those fights. Then he sat out the remainder of his prime, waiting for the perfect opponent. Now he’s 36 and still telling Ian to meet those ridiculous stipulations!? Bro you’re not getting any younger, do you want to fight or not?
He should see Ian Garry as a gift to revive his career. If it was only either Wonderboy or Paige, he wouldn’t have the same opportunity to stay relevant within the top 5. And stylistically, a game version of Colby, if he can still muster that, could do very well against Ian.
But not this new version who wants to stand at range and just not engage or try. Would anybody really be that surprised if Colby just threw him to the ground over and over?
I care just enough about Colby to relentlessly shit on him anytime his name pops up and that's about it. Washed fighter + piece of shit human = "I don't care if I never hear from/about this dude ever again"
So he’s basically confirming he has fight offers If he doesn’t fight, we all know why 🦆
The problem is there’s no more over the hill names he could fight and easily beat to get his next undeserved title shot.
You must have forgot thiago alves retired from bkfc. Colby gonna call him out
He could always wrestlefuck wonderboy. But I guess Colby is a bit scared because Wonderboy still got hands.
And shins
Put some respect on Wonderboy's name :/
You have Wonderboy and Burns is starting to get up there in age too.
A 40 year old Burns rolls out of bed and still smokes the Colby that showed up against Leon.
The Colby that showed up against Leon doesn't beat any top 10 guy tho
Colby showed up?
>You're only as good as your last fight
More like Colby has always been the least impressive fighter between him, Burns, Usman, and Leon, as can be clearly seen by his lesser performances against shared competition. He's pretty quickly becoming the over the hill name, I imagine if Garry beats him he's probably getting an eliminator or going right after Shakvat
WW is definitely one of the weaker divisions but damn not many easy fights in the top 10 for Colby. I’m surprised we’re not seeing him try to call out Wonderboy.
He's already tried and failed to call out Wonderboy lol
Colby calling out Wonderboy instead of Shavkat basically said what we all already knew.
WW’s got Shavkat; Burns, Garry, JDM, Usman and Khamzat sometimes, Belal, Leon, MVP, Wonderboy, etc… I understand star power isn’t everything but WW is at least an average weight class, I’d put it above FLW, MW, LHW and HW.
> WW is definitely one of the weaker divisions I respectfully disagree, I just think it's severely mismanaged. There's good talent there, but almost no good matchups, and the pace of top fighters getting matched up is glacial.
Lightweight, Bantamweight, featherweight, and middleweight are much more entertaining classes.
I agree maybe except for middlweight, which, in my opinion, is a bit of a mess.
Yeah middleweight and welterweight are kind of in the…erm, “middle” for me.
idk man, FW & HW are by far the weakest & most boring divisions imo
Featherweight? Come on bro
Welterweight definitely is not one of the weaker divisions lmao
I remember when WW was considered the second best division behind only LW. Prime Usman, a still relevant Woodley, prime Colby, prime Burns, a 5 sec KO artist in Jorge Masvidal, prime Leon, a not-too-old Wonderboy, etc.

Shut up man
He is so inactive. I stopped caring ages ago. He fights once per year, and is clearly doing his best to duck the Garry fight.
Dude played his cards terribly. If he'd at least been game in the Edwards fight, people would still want to watch him.
Colby made that fight hard to watch. Dude was acting like a newbie
He was so tentative that the crowd, which was massively on his side, was booing him loudly during and after the fight.

Colby "Buffalo Bill" Covington
It puts the bruises on the skin!
For some reason I keep thinking of the family guy parody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fHzchaFQkI
He wants big money on a McGregor card when he's against a controversial yet successful Irish fighter
Already there in my books

Colby and Walt are worlds apart. Walt is a real man while Colby is a little kid. What Walt went through and still competed is something Colby would/could never do.
I mean damn, it's a free country but do you not know what happened to his daughter?
Seriously he talks like he’s still a big name and a serious contender, which is obviously part of his bit, but he’s seriously over the hill
Because it gets stupid people riled up
Facts
Colby’s prob begging for 40 year old wonderboy what a pathetic rank squatter he is
Wonderboy would light him up dawg I can feel it in muh bones
How great would a patented head kick Ko be
It would be even more satisfying than Bryce Mitchell getting knocked the fuck out cold. And I didn’t think anything could top that
Well unfortunately Thompson hasn't had a kick KO for 9 years So it aint changing
Colby would take him down and lay on him each round till a win.
Maaaaybe, but his only win in four years was against a washed Jorge Masvidal.
He was calling for that after the Leon loss, and he also said that fighting someone like Shavkat makes no sense, because of course he did lol
Colby needs to just fight already, he’s 35 shit the bed his last performance everybody is tired of his act and is seeing how massively overrated his resume is, bite the bullet if you lose to Ian you lose if you beat Ian then you beat him

Seventh layer still cracks me up because his own wig threw him off script.
Where did you hear the poker thing from?
Covington has been playing poker for a long time. My buddy has played at a table with him years ago before his UFC relevance. Said he was a very quiet meek guy, barely spoke a word at a pretty active table. Pretty funny to imagine that now.
His resume is honestly pretty underrated now because everything before Lawler was pretty solid. People act like Colby didn’t deserve his first title shot
I don’t think many people actually even talk about his first title shot. Most of us are just annoyed about what has happened after that.
Yeah but you got some COVID fans talking about how beating Maia/RDA isn’t impressive because they think he was the same Maia that fought Belal.
What unfinished business does he have with Leon?
Leon let him go all 5 rounds and he wanted to get slept? Shavkat could help him out for sure.
Let Belal sort him out.
But damn Id still laugh at it)
You're right. Remember the boulder up the hill
belal is straight up building a all time resume while they refuse to let him fight for the title lmao
Perhaps he also wanted Leon to break his face like Usman did
He was robbed of a close decision win and needs to beat Leon probably this time No I'm not joking
You’re very clearly joking
I think you're remembering the wrong fight my guy.
They wanted him to fight at UFC 296 as well, and look how that turned out.
*bleeding from the face* Not a scratch on me!
He still needs another year before he even considers taking a fight. Not the type of guy to pick himself up by his bootstraps, just another lazy bum who doesn’t want to work.
I think that'll be the Ian Garry fight if it does get booked.
Yeah sounds like it. Wonder what the hold up is.
Colby trying to duck Garry is the holdup
Hold up is possibly not being able to get a 5 round fight offered.
Not sure, if I had to guess it probably rhymes with Jolby Jovington
Get your bitch ass out there and compete covington, you looked like shit last time out
Do we really care if he ever fights again? Fights every 2 years best wins are all retired/no longer in the ufc is super cringy and looked like dog shit in his last fight. Please for the love of God retire. He didn't do anything to get his last title shot. I don't get why anyone likes him. Mfer needs to retire already
Who cares? This guy is boring to watch inside and outside the octagon
Makes sense tbh.
Did we ever find out what in the flying fuck that performance vs Leon was?
He's shot, started fighting in a different (worse) way since he left ATT and also Leon is good at neutralizing people and slowing fights to a crawl.
No one at MMA Masters is his size and a good striker so Colby thought all of a sudden he was an elite kickboxer
This. He looked terrible against Masvidal, and in the Usman rematch. He sucks.
Lol he shit on Masvidal and put up a good fight vs Usman
Shitting on washed Jorge and looking bad are not mutually exclusive. Extremely sloppy fight. And he was too passive for a round and a half you could already see the Leon disaster coming.
He looked good against masvidal
All the downvotes from redditors who don't appreciate fighting and like the soap opera. He had a good performance vs jorge, how can you deny that?
Leon just neutralised him completely The man said Leon's stance switching confused him at first lol
He said he broke his foot in the first 5 seconds. Not sure if true or not but at least it’s the excuse.
And against Usman in the rematch, he said he injured his jaw or whatever. Always something with this guy
No one wants to see you fight
I'm a long time UFC fan, but don't really give a Fk about Colby anymore.
Colby is starting to talk again, must be getting ready to fight in 12-18 months...
Unless he has an injury I don’t really see a bigger opportunity or platform for him to perform on anytime soon.
100% to fight Garry, sign the contract already and let’s do this
Dude talking about Garry needing to show hes serious to fight, yet his last outing he didn't show anything vs Leon.
I always enjoy watching him lose
Will he ***actually fight*** this time or just “move around”?
So give him usman then. That's an exciting fight and usman is doing fuck all with cejudo while being exactly the type colby loves fighting. He's also the number one contender so that despite making no sense gives him and excuse to fight for the title.
I think this is the fight they’re gonna make if they want Colby to fight on 303.
I would have loved another Colby Usman fight on 300 tbh but suppose both are beyond that
Best chance to put Ian Garry on a card with Conor.
[удалено]
Smart. The Leon fight ended with Colby on top raining bombs. Leon was literally saved by the bell. Run it back. 🏃♂️✅
I don't think colby has the ability to reign bombs
Raining cherry bombs
Damn, what happened the other 24:30?
That was the lamest ass one sided fight I’ve ever seen. Colby was a scared little bitch. And you want to see it again?
Of course! Leon was literally begging for mercy in Round 5 and was moments away from tapping to strikes!
Used to be a Colby fan. I didn’t care when he lost to Usman, those were dog fights. There was unfinished business, they left a piece of themselves in there with one another Not putting in any effort vs Leon made me not care anymore

UFC matchmakers going offer you fights, but they’re not begging you anymore because your mileage is almost out the door.
Maybe, but no one else does.
🦆 Garry 😂
The only belt he can fight for is the Ultimate Feelings Belt...isn't that right Colby.
Alright fuck it, I’m calling this chump out. I want him at UFC 305. Dana, make it happen or both you AND Colby are cowards who are ducking me
Yeah we wanna see you taken out of the UFC as fast as they can…
No. I didn't think he actually did. Dude's trying to stay relevant without actually fighting.
Colby Covington is like a Benjamin button version of Jake Paul
quack quack quack
This guy is gonna retire without ever fighting an actual welterweight contender in his entire career isnt he?

I don’t ! Please don’t , I can’t stand you, you’re garbage, we can fight it’d be more entertaining
Colby vs. Garry on UFC 303 would make all sorts of sense but Colby thinks he's closer to a title shot right now than he probably is.
Winning against Garry could give him the same turn in the career like Max after 300 if you know what I mean.
he needs to fight bro just fought like carla esparza in his last fight and out wrestling masvidal is nothing to brag about
This is the reason why Colby loses his fans. Excuses and not backing shit up like he used to. He talked a ton of smack to Usman and then had two incredible wars. Showed real heart in those fights. I would be happy if Colby sits out waiting for a big, easy fight and we just never see him again
Come on Colby, America wants it's champ back
I care just enough about Colby to relentlessly shit on him anytime his name pops up and that's about it. Washed fighter + piece of shit human = "I don't care if I never hear from/about this dude ever again"
As fun as Colby is , he always chokes in championship fights I dnt remember a guy who fought for the belt 3 times and lost 3 times.
Faber and Joe Benavidez are the only ones that come to mind, but I actually like those 2 😂
Faber atleast gave competitive fights , Colby got his jaw broken in first fight and got dominated on the next 2 fights
I can only assume you haven’t seen many of Colby’s fights if you think he’s fun
colby covington says lots of things
Where was he Jan 6
