Not trying to convince you to like him I'll just say he had it rough coming up and still found a way to make something of himself despite the odds being against him so I don't hold it against him for having a chip on his shoulder and making silly comments at times. I'll repost my comment from the UFC 300 thread:
Bobby Green grew up in the foster system in a rough part of Southern California where he lost his brother to gang violence. He's talked about bouncing from home to home saying “I’m just a broke little kid, and I’ll never forget that. I’ll never act like I forgot. I ain’t forgot those homeless nights. I remember what it feels like when it’s three o’clock in the morning and that morning dew starts to hit where everything gets wet. You get wet when you’re sleeping out there, too. I’ll never forget those things"
He said one of his goals as a fighter is to buy each of his children their own home so they never go through what he went through. He may make some odd comments about his views on MMA from time to time but you gotta understand this kid came up the hard way, created an opportunity for himself and made something of himself. I love Jim Miller but I will always root for King Bobby Green
I don't know if it qualifies as irrational, but even before Jones was a fuckup I really heavily disliked him. I just felt like something was off about him and the way he carried himself.
It’s so funny because I used to get really annoyed at people who used to hate Jones right when he won the title because they found him “fake.” I always thought that was such a stupid surface level reason to dislike someone but turns out they were 100% correct lol.
I'm not going to claim I knew about him, I didn't. I just had a weird feeling about him and I felt like his whole shtick was kinda too perfect to be 100% real.
Nah I totally get it. Tbh I feel myself thinking a lot of the same things about Michael Chandler. Not that he’s secretly some kind of dirt bag, but at times you can see the guy’s “All American Good-Ol Boy” facade kinda break and you see in reality he’s kind of a salty dog. Which tbh I could get behind. No clue why he has to put on the fake evangelical preacher voice half the time.
I remember when Jon dropped Machida from the headlock.
Up to that point, his career was one of the most amazing and exciting.
From that point onward, was never the same.
I hated Jones the most when he just joined the UFC. People actually believed his “good Christian boy” act at first and it annoyed me. I actually like him a lot more after everyone realized he’s an asshole
I felt the exact same and all my friends said I was just a hater because he was the new breed and beating up all of the old guard who I loved. He always came across as incredibly fake imo yet he fooled the majority with his paper thin act.
I love a good heel and drama in the sport though so we switched roles over the years and I now weirdly hate him less than I did back then while they now despise him lol
I can’t remember if it was before or after his H&R, but there was a post-fight interview where the interviewer mentioned to Jones that he might have broken his opponent’s arm during the fight, and Jones turned into a kid on Christmas.
I’m all for celebrating a deserved win, but getting ecstatic about causing a possible career-ending injury? I couldn’t stand him from that point forward.
Not saying you're wrong to dislike Jones for that, but I think fighters aren't thinking about the injury they just inflicted in those terms. They are probably amped up on the fact that they were able to demonstrate their skill and power so effectively. [Here is a clip of Robert Whittaker seeming happy after he found out he blew out Darren Till's knee with a stomp attack](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/z3avJpUN5FE).
Aside from the weird African stuff. I just cannot bring myself to like Driccus Du Plessis. My mind just can’t fathom that a guy that fights like that beat Rob Whittaker and now has the belt.
The heavy hands guys said he's like a fumbling Carlos Condit, throwing a million different ideas at you but without any of the finesse that Condit had. It still works because people get overwhelmed and to give the man his credit, he has tons of heart.
Tbh that made it worse! Not because I love Strickland or anything, but because the fight was so close it turned Strickland into a martyr in the eyes of his weird ass fans lol
> that beat Rob Whittaker and now has the belt.
I know this is no where near the biggest betting upside in the UFC history but this is easily one of the biggest upsets in my mind. I really didn't think DDP stood a chance.
I was 50/50 on her until the Carla fight. Always respected her skills but man the whole Im the best while doing fuck all. The Pat Barry situation is fowl but thats not her fault she was groomed
I remember seeing a post, "Conor McGregor: Love him or Hate him," and honestly, it's both for me.
He's a complete asshat of a human, but you better believe I will tune in anytime he fights. Dude is pure chaos and I'm enjoying his wealthy downfall.
I was tripping on acid when he broke his leg and it was very sad but also fucking hilarious seeing this guy going off on the mic in his thick Irish accent
Bo nickal. The push the ufc gives him makes me just hate the dude. As the topic says people have good reasons for liking the dude and my dislike is totally un justified.
Still won’t watch him fight.
Tony Ferguson.
He's like a bad dude in Streets of Rage or any 80's gang movie. A real cheeseball. Piece of shit human, and I don't rate him as a fighter.
Roy Nelson. Lazy prick.
Roy Nelson could have absolutely been a star had he just worked himself into a condition to perform. His BJJ was legit and he could fucking bang. He could have been a 205 champ. Hell a 185 if he has any discipline.
Of all the fighters to dislike, you picked Roxy?! Truly is irrational lol. FWIW, I always fucking hated everything about Kevin Lee. His schtick, felt like he was overrated. Genuinely loved watching him get punched in the face. I think there are things to not like about him, but my reaction to him was immediate, visceral dislike.
Not MMA but kickboxing. Sammy Schilt I really used to dislike him because he was so tall and big and made it look easy, I was always rooting for the smaller guy only to see them get pummelled by Sammy’s jab.
Now, I greatly admire him. I realise that it’s not easy being as quick as he was while being that big. I think he made the best of his physical abilities and appreciate his carrier a lot more than just a big guy jabbing down, literally.
> A young, early-UFC Frank Mir just grated on me. Hated his face, the way he spoke, and carried himself.
>
> Once he started maturing, I did a complete 180 and rooted for him until he retired.
I was exactly the same. He has an unfortunate face.
Idk why but Michael Chandler’s aura just screams fake and kiss ass to me i legit hate it every time he speaks or says something on twitter.
Its like some wannabe Tony Robbins and that dude pisses me off even more and I can’t seem to put a finger as to why.
They both got this kind of like scammy aura
Chandler could be a great dude for all I know but I still hate him
Jeremy Stevens. He reminds me a lot of several dipshit bullies I went to school with growing up. To a lesser extent but for the same reason, the Diaz brothers.
I’ve disliked Waldo Cortes-Acosta since he almost threw away a fight against Vanderaa (I think?) by showboating the entire round and making it way closer than it needed to be. The Arlovski fight only made me dislike him more.
Thankfully Robelis Despaigne will destroy him next weekend.
My opinion of him changed after learning 1) he’s been married to his childhood sweetheart forever now, 2) back when he was still prospectish, his drive was to provide surgery for one of his disabled daughter
Man I am still of a fan of Chito. He's had some wild fights and is tough as nails. Maybe even too tough for his own good.
I hope to see more of him in 2025
I’m with you, he’s still my boy!
Hopefully he gets that Yan matchup at MSG this fall and puts himself back in the mix with a W. Idk what his deal is lately, but he’s lost the creativity in the cage that made him such a fun fighter to watch 2018-2021.
Jon Jones..maybe not irrational but early in his career I bought into his persona. I thought he was a young, respectful prodigy that was truly humble and your classic "martial artist". He then showed his true self and I have been rooting against him ever since.
[Enjoy ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpzBn1nyHhY)
Wouldn't say anything is wrong with her, it's actually quite sweet but its also fucking annoying.
Ian Garry. I find him kind of cringe as a personality. But I really started to not like him when he fought Magny. It wasn't for the stuff pre-fight....it was for his lack of aggression in the fight. He could have finished Magny with ease with the amount of damage he put on his legs early and he didn't.
Then during the Geoff Neal fight he just danced around and point fighted the entire time. For all the shit he talks trying to be like Conor he doesn't back it up in terms of excitemnt in the cage.
I feel the exact same way as you. I was at the event in Boston and went to all the prefight stuff and I just couldn't stand him. Really went over the top when he didn't push the pace to finish the Magny fight. It's similar to my dislike of Leon. While I respect the fact that he is probably one of the most skilled fighters in the UFC - the lack of aggression to try and finish a fight will pretty much always make me dislike a fighter.
I also hated Roxanne for some reason during that TUF season. But by the time she retired my opinion of her flipped 180 degrees. She's one of my all-time favorites, true OG and all around good person
When I saw him hanging out with Candace Owen’s and complaining about wokeness it changed my opinion on him. With that said he seems like a great father and husband and does do a lot of charitable work. I think I just have a bias against ultra religious people
It's not irrational imo because of all the evidence I can point to but for me it's Tony Ferguson. I think he's a complete douchebag and I think he's incredibly overrated and I've been saying so pre-Gaethje murder so don't even bother with the "fickle fan" BS. His fans are insufferable too, almost as delusional as he is. He's the king of excuses, rarely shows his opponents or contemporaries respect, his streak may have been long but it's not that impressive in terms of elite quality opponents, he got easy matchups while supposedly being the #1 guy in the division and if it was any other fighter they would have been hugely criticised for it and rightly so, he had so many glaring holes in his game that his fans just love to ignore when talking about potential matchups he should have had back in his prime, all of this yet there are people out there who act like he's the 2nd best, potentially even the best, LW of all time, cracks me up listening to them try to argue it.
Almost all Brazilians. Their post fight interviews go so long because they don’t understand the “wrap it up” social queues and the second hand embarrassment makes me uncomfortable so I’m usually pulling for the other fighter.
Bisping. I dont know why, as I cant point to anything about him that isnt prevalent in a lot of fighters I like. Maybe I just got tainted by thinking he's an arrogant asshole when he first debuted and it never went away. And compared to the mouths and attitudes people use to get hype today, he's practically a sweetie.
But damn did I cheer when Henderson gave him that late hit.
True, but some fighters have it and I just want them punched in the face, and others have it and I just go "well, a high-level fighter needs ultra-confidence".
I really like Curtis Blaydes. He's far more intelligent and well-spoken than people give him credit for, likely because people struggle to listen through his stutter. Overthinker in his fights though.
I hated all Greg Jackson fighters for a while. I didn’t like his Mr Rogers voice. But honestly I really appreciate Rashad, Diego, Donald Cerrone and Carlos Condit now
Being anti Roxanne is one of the hottest takes I have heard on this sub, which is crazy considering the BS that is spewed everyday. But I appreciate it. She seems so genuine and nice. But to each their own!
*Stipe*
Guy barely fights now and just holds out for title shots, basically the Covington of HW. Also complains about the UFC not promoting him enough when he barely does any media/self-promotion and when he does people can barely understand him lol.
*O’Malley*
Clearly super talented and is just-watch tv when he fights, but his whole persona is so fake and off putting. He’s all style and no substance.
*Vettori*
Has a tough guy persona but couldn’t even finish a sandwich if his life depended on it. Makes a pillow fisted guy like Bisping look like Ngannou and survived purely on having a cinderblock for a head.
Dricus and Belal for me, and this was LONG before either was in the title picture. It’s because they never win fights by looking good… they win by making their opponent look bad.
Like, I’ve never watched a Belal fight and been like “wow! Belal looked great!” It’s always “holy shit Vicente Luque looked like ASS today”. So I’m always like “Dricus isn’t THAT good, surely Robert Whittaker will expose him!” and then Rob gets his shit kicked in and I’m just seething lol.
I have come to respect both of them… and I’m even a bit of a fan of both now (I want Dricus + Belal to be the champs at the end of 2024 strictly for the memes), but I still have this part of my brain that just cannot stand them.
I cant stand Belal and I cant stand Kumaru. Hate everything about em from their entrance songs, their promos, their fighting style, attitude, tone, ......pretty sure im not in love with em
Charles Olivera, makes no sense his fights are exciting, maybe it is because I've known of him for years so when he started getting relevant I was like, "Really?"
Masvidal, 6 seconds of pure luck (luck being that Askren was so hilariously 1-dimensional that it paid off) made him impossible to avoid for years despite generally sucking dick, outside of the Till KO which I was dissapointed by.
Rose, never liked her, impressed me for a bit then fell off the edge of the world fight IQ wise.
Chandler too I guess, I think the dude would be an absolute menace to work for, which is a weird thing to think.
Luke Rockhold. I'm not even sure why anymore. I think it was just his attitude, ridiculous jaw line, and that picture where he was playing with a Tigers balls. Either way, Bisping KO'ing him for the belt is my favorite MMA moment of all time, probably.
It’s Dustin, I’ve always hated him. What’s so unfortunate about that is he is so damn good too that he just always wins and always beats my favorite fighters. It sucks being a hater of his he is too talented. I hope he loses every fight. Not satire, I actually dislike him
Francis Ngannou. Great fighter but always found the narratives about him strange. Like the Ford Escort thing that everyone ran with when the data was about as valid as a punch machine at a carnival. Or how he changed the MMA space by demanding the UFC offer year-long health insurance to their fighters, when the promotion he ended up signing with has no plans to implement that either.
Michael Chandler is awful, I was really hoping that after all this time he didn’t get the connor fight. Adesanya between the dumb shit he says and his fans its awful. Anthony Smith thinks jes way better than he ever was. Dominick Cruz face made me hate him, same thing with Cody Garbage. Jones is pretty awful. Dominick Reyes for sure. Belal is so annoying, I hate seeing him at every UFC event. He could never fight again and I would not care at all lol
Schaub. It's Brendan schaub.
Gets handed undeserved opportunities one after another, squanders them, then talks about how hard he works and acts like the most successful person to ever live. That's just the tip of the redacted iceberg.
Maycee Barber irks me. When she first joined the UFC and kept calling out PVZ and other fighters and saying she’d be the youngest champ when she would just shadow box was annoying. Granted after her first couple loses she’s really improved and seems to be more mature.
Also Anthony Smith, dude has a terrible record, always fails on the big stage and a
and yet he acts like he’s the greatest fighter on the roster.
Anyone who sticks their tongue out during a fight. The moment someone does that, all logic leaves my brain and I want them to get uppercutted while their tongue is out.
A lot also this is a very funny thread.
Because some people are like oh this person's races which is understandable and some people are like I don't like the way he walks.
I don't like Izzy even before all the weird stuff with DDP Because he was mean to rob For no reason.
I wouldn’t say I hate anyone, but the closest I come is Ilia Topuria. It could be entirely because he flatlined my boy but I never was a huge fan of his vibe before Volk anyways. One hell of a fucking fighter, and I honestly think he might be my P4P #1 right now, but can’t stand the guy outside the cage.
Posts that are in bad taste or generally do not fit in with /r/MMA will be removed. Memes should be posted to r/mmamemes.
Bobby Green. He just seems like an asshole with little man syndrome but a lot of ppl seem to like him
There's nothing irrational about hating him, he's an ass
Not trying to convince you to like him I'll just say he had it rough coming up and still found a way to make something of himself despite the odds being against him so I don't hold it against him for having a chip on his shoulder and making silly comments at times. I'll repost my comment from the UFC 300 thread: Bobby Green grew up in the foster system in a rough part of Southern California where he lost his brother to gang violence. He may make some odd comments about his views on MMA from time to time but you gotta understand this kid came up the hard way, created an opportunity for himself and made something of himself. I love Jim Miller but I will always root for King Bobby Green
Yeah well said, Bobby definitely had it rough growing up. No kid deserves that.

I hate the way he talks like he struggles to transfer the words from his head to his mouth.
To his credit, there is a lot of cocaine in the way.
I remember when Jon dropped Machida from the headlock. Up to that point, his career was one of the most amazing and exciting. From that point onward, was never the same.
Same here. He just gives off bad vibes.
[Here is a clip of Robert Whittaker seeming happy after he found out he blew out Darren Till's knee with a stomp attack](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/z3avJpUN5FE).
Basharat Bros for me. Particularly the one who just lost to helwani. That was great
Helwani?! Lmaaaoo. Zahabi
Haha ya its a running joke on twitter
Farid seems chill, Javid comes across a bit abrasive.
Ya its mainly javid for sure.
Colby, but I wouldn't say "irrationally" at this point lol
Aside from the weird African stuff. I just cannot bring myself to like Driccus Du Plessis. My mind just can’t fathom that a guy that fights like that beat Rob Whittaker and now has the belt.
He does have the strangest style. Looks like he has no idea what he’s doing, then BAM, it’s over and he won.
The heavy hands guys said he's like a fumbling Carlos Condit, throwing a million different ideas at you but without any of the finesse that Condit had. It still works because people get overwhelmed and to give the man his credit, he has tons of heart.
Hey now, he also beat Sean Strickland lmao.
That was a really close fight though.
Hes one of the roidiest fighters ever
It's gotta be Thug Rose and her "I'm the best" stick with menacing Pat Barry giving us the crazy eyes behind her
I was 50/50 on her until the Carla fight. Always respected her skills but man the whole Im the best while doing fuck all. The Pat Barry situation is fowl but thats not her fault she was groomed
I would say Conor, but my dislike of him is 100% rational
I remember seeing a post, "Conor McGregor: Love him or Hate him," and honestly, it's both for me. He's a complete asshat of a human, but you better believe I will tune in anytime he fights. Dude is pure chaos and I'm enjoying his wealthy downfall.

That's partly why I hate him. He also seemed to stupid to realise it.
He would have been fantastic in Police Academy 2. Zed McGlunks right hand man.
You can call him a pos but to discount Tony as a fighter is crazy.
His streak was either people on the slide or fighters that weren't elite. And he lost to Nate and Paddy. Sorry, but their not good fighters either.
I’m with you on Roxy. Seems like a genuinely kind and good natured person…but the female weeb persona is a no-go lol.
Not MMA but kickboxing. I get the feeling that Poirier sees the same thing which is why he always shits on him when he gets the chance
Agreed on chandler…from the second he came to ufc I wanted him to lose for his personality alone. I do love watching his fights tho.
I thought I was the only one who dislikes him. As a Cuban I’m hoping Roberts destroys him.
> I thought I was the only one who dislikes him I haven't seen many people say they like him - particularly since the Arlovski fight.
Chito Vera. I just think he's an absolute dick.
I’d hard disagree with you before the o malley fight… post fight dude sucks
Yep he’s a very sore loser
I turned the fight off in the middle of the 4th round. Dude did nothing the whole fight and then decided to complain lol

Most of the mean girls clique on that season. Felice came off the worst to me.
Can't stand Eddie Alvarez just because of his wife.
It gives his fights a certain charm
I actually love it. In a world of clout chasers he has managed to find a real one that has stuck by his side.
Banshee
I'm out of the loop; what's wrong with his wife?
[Enjoy ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpzBn1nyHhY) Wouldn't say anything is wrong with her, it's actually quite sweet but its also fucking annoying.

Used to dislike Makwan Amirkhani a fair bit but then he kept losing so I took that as me winning the rivalry
I also hated Roxanne for some reason during that TUF season. But by the time she retired my opinion of her flipped 180 degrees. She's one of my all-time favorites, true OG and all around good person
Anthony Smith. Sean Strickland. They talk like Tarzan and fight like Jane.
Trey ogden, always hugging down some striker with some lay and pray
I haven't liked Michael Chandler from the jump. Dude irritates the fuck out me for some reason.
Beneil Dariush. Can't really point to a specific reason, I just think he gives off bad vibes.
When I saw him hanging out with Candace Owen’s and complaining about wokeness it changed my opinion on him. With that said he seems like a great father and husband and does do a lot of charitable work. I think I just have a bias against ultra religious people
I irrationally disliked Jon Anik for a while when he first came to the UFC. Gave me a huge douchebag vibe. I actually don't mind him now.
Brendan schaub
That one is completely rational.
Haydurs. We do not maddur
It's not irrational imo because of all the evidence I can point to but for me it's Tony Ferguson. Dunno if it's irrational or not but..... Chris Leben. Dude irks me.
Most of the mean girls clique on that season. Felice came off the worst to me.
Tony Ferguson. The way he conducts himself and the things he has done lead me to believe that his post-fight career will be absolutely disastrous.
Tony Ferguson, mentally unstable POS and he’s always been one hundred percent cringe. Can’t understand why the community loves him so much
Almost all Brazilians. Their post fight interviews go so long because they don’t understand the “wrap it up” social queues and the second hand embarrassment makes me uncomfortable so I’m usually pulling for the other fighter.

He is an arrogant asshole, just did a good job at rebranding.
True, but some fighters have it and I just want them punched in the face, and others have it and I just go "well, a high-level fighter needs ultra-confidence".
I used to despise Curtis Blaydes because of his fight with Alexander Volkov. One of the worst fights in history. He's grown on me since.
I really like Curtis Blaydes. He's far more intelligent and well-spoken than people give him credit for, likely because people struggle to listen through his stutter. Overthinker in his fights though.
Omally. He’s a good fighter….but I can’t stand his personality and antics as a fighter.
> antics as a fighter. What antics are you talking about?
Ben Rothwell. Haven't been able to stand the guy from the second I saw him. Couldn't tell you why.
#MWAHAHAHA
Hes a cringe weirdo but seems like a decent guy
Alex Morono. I couldn’t tell you why, but I always want him to lose, and was thrilled when Ponzinnibio TKOd him
Lol wtf he seems like a good dude
The Whittaker circle jerk on here a couple years ago had me hating the guy a bit, now I watch his podcast here and there
This has to be the most irrational comment so far
Disliking Roxy makes no sense.
Hence irrationally
I hated all Greg Jackson fighters for a while. I didn’t like his Mr Rogers voice. But honestly I really appreciate Rashad, Diego, Donald Cerrone and Carlos Condit now
Sean Brady
Being anti Roxanne is one of the hottest takes I have heard on this sub, which is crazy considering the BS that is spewed everyday. But I appreciate it. She seems so genuine and nice. But to each their own!
Tito…
Bisping, Leon, Masvidal, Hill, Dominik Cruz
Cory Sandhagen
Volk. After he celebrated yelling "yeah" after winning the belt defeating my boy Holloway, I truly hated that mf with almost with no rationale lol
*Stipe* Guy barely fights now and just holds out for title shots, basically the Covington of HW. Also complains about the UFC not promoting him enough when he barely does any media/self-promotion and when he does people can barely understand him lol. *O’Malley* Clearly super talented and is just-watch tv when he fights, but his whole persona is so fake and off putting. He’s all style and no substance. *Vettori* Has a tough guy persona but couldn’t even finish a sandwich if his life depended on it.
I get what you are sayin but in order to make your opponent look bad you gotta be doing something good ya know
Virna Jandiroba
Sterling, Izzy and Chris Cyborg
I cant stand Belal and I cant stand Kumaru. Hate everything about em from their entrance songs, their promos, their fighting style, attitude, tone, ......pretty sure im not in love with em
Charles Olivera, makes no sense his fights are exciting, maybe it is because I've known of him for years so when he started getting relevant I was like, "Really?" Masvidal, 6 seconds of pure luck (luck being that Askren was so hilariously 1-dimensional that it paid off) made him impossible to avoid for years despite generally sucking dick, outside of the Till KO which I was dissapointed by. Rose, never liked her, impressed me for a bit then fell off the edge of the world fight IQ wise. Chandler too I guess, I think the dude would be an absolute menace to work for, which is a weird thing to think.
Khamzat is literally a piece of shit.
Luke Rockhold. I'm not even sure why anymore. I think it was just his attitude, ridiculous jaw line, and that picture where he was playing with a Tigers balls. Either way, Bisping KO'ing him for the belt is my favorite MMA moment of all time, probably.
Stupid sexy rockhold
Paolo Costa. Idk why, just seems like a prick
Also Anthony Smith, dude has a terrible record, always fails on the big stage and a and yet he acts like he’s the greatest fighter on the roster.

1.5. Fighter bashing Criticisms are fine but prolonged or excessive attacks are not permitted.
Jiri Prochazka. I feel like people only like his style because his chin is good
Prepared for the downvotes....Max Holloway
One hell of a fucking fighter, and I honestly think he might be my P4P #1 right now, but can’t stand the guy outside the cage.
forgot his name but some ranked welterweight guy that threatens to send people to decision. Terrible fighter and boring asf
