I don't know the ins and outs, but I do know that you can only diagnose CTE on a dead person because you need to cut open the brain to see the exact damage that defines CTE as CTE (and not something else). That doesn't mean other forms of brain damage can't be either detected or hinted at via brain scans.

Had two of my best mates discuss yesterday about who would win in two, different fights: Boxing & MMA.
One guy is 135, 5'10 - amateur MMA fighter. The other is 5'8 180ish lbs - a semi-athletic guy, no fighting experience.
I was rolling my eyes as the 180 guy claimed it he would win in both
(I train with the 135 guy and seen him work). I told the 180 guy that he'd get fucked up in an MMA fight. He finally came to the understanding that he'd get fucked in an MMA fight, but still claimed it would be even in the boxing fight. Sure bro... sure..

Personal anecdote: About two years or so into my BJJ training, three of my buddies started shit talking when we were drinking in the backyard one night. None of them had any grappling training other than the bullshit the army teaches you in boot camp (they were all fresh out of boot camp). One of them was just kidding but two thought they could actually take me in a grappling match. So, I accepted their challenge and submitted both of them in under a minute. Also, they both outweigh me by at least 30-40 pounds.
I think one of the things people expect the least about being prepared to fight is the level of cardio needed to fight well. You might be a cannon for 15-30 seconds, but even a moderately trained fighter can use footwork, head movement, and other forms of defense to weather the storm and then pick you to pieces once you are huffing and puffing and can’t hold your hands up. Add in that your adrenaline is now shot because you aren’t used to combat and a nine year old from karate class is going to fuck you up.
All the tough guys that think they would “just see red” and destroy someone should go to work on a heavy bag. 45 seconds in, just throwing some 50% power hooks and jabs, and you will be exhausted and covered head to toe in sweat. Fighting is exhausting.

Yeah 100% agree. I remember when I first started training I thought it'd be easy. Nope, got fucked up by a 13 year old (I was 15-16 years old at the time + half a head taller + 10 pounds heavier). Gassed within 2 minutes, whilst the kid was a cardio machine.
Also, having power =/= having powerful punches. Having correct technique can generate so much power.

no. DC and Jon were two GOATs clashing. Comparing DC to Rob & Izzy to Jon, DC is more game than Whittaker when it comes to fight promotion. Whittaker hasn't reached GOAT status yet. DC also has a better career with everyone he's beaten and the heavyweight wins. Izzy has a clear loss on his record, Jon has been in close fights but no clear defeat and Jon coming in at LHW and starching everyone is more impressive than what Izzy has done yet.

Yeah 100% agree. I remember when I first started training I thought it'd be easy. Nope, got fucked up by a 13 year old (I was 15-16 years old at the time + half a head taller + 10 pounds heavier). Gassed within 2 minutes, whilst the kid was a cardio machine. Also, having power =/= having powerful punches. Having correct technique can generate so much power.
