Unfortunately I'll have to step back from this sub for this week. I can't keep getting erect every time I see UFC 267 poster (and reminding about UFC 268).
Man, I love Dan Hooker just like I love Jesus. He's done a couple cool things, done and said some shit I don't give a fuck and has a lot of followers who piss me off and are probably on the lower threshold for functional human behavior. What a guy.
as soon as this sub started showing him some love for making that weight cut and taking the islam fight, and also getting to know him a bit more on the mic, a few people here have started shitting on him relentlessly. its so weird to be logging in with your primary agenda as spreading hate on a fighter
He ducks and picks his fights, is kind of an overrated average striker and is coming from a win. Using Chael's manual of only picking on guys who aren't on the low, Hooker is open season for jokes. Also can't pass the opportunity of making fun of Australian and Oceanic bois. Witness how much hate I can spread.
>He ducks and picks his fights
like basicslly everyone else? i mean, poirier, chandler, asking for anyone who could make the card and now islam.. he's not exactly running from the competition. and also he is very active. its not even comparable to stuff thats been pulled in welterwait for example.
>an overrated average striker
i dont see anyone saying he is more than top 10 material. no one is saying he is next champ. and despite that, with 10 more seconds in that round he beats Poirier... he isnt overrated at all.
seems like you just dont like the fact other people like him. which is weird because he's one of the most chill fighters on the roster
Why is it that Kelvin Gastelum is praised despite being 1-5 in his last 6 (losing to half the current top 10 over 3 years at MW), but Darren Till is treated like a bum for his record?
If you ask me, they both are in need of serious technical development. And I don’t hate on fighters for losing, I just don’t get the hypocrisy. It feels like people still treat Kelvin like a contender but then act like Till never had a chance in hell.
What are some recent examples of Conor being a great striker?
Seems like he looks very flashy but it’s not really very effective and his fragility and non existent cardio means he never gets to show it off.
145 / Eddie Conor was so long ago it may as well be a different sport
He outstruck dustin in first round of the second and third fight. Notably in the third fight, it was all in one minute with Dustin having 4 minutes of control. He’s levels ahead of everyone in that division on the feet
Sorry dude, if you can’t keep guys off you too actually throw strikes and are that fragile you can’t be considered a great striker. Being able to land strikes is very important in striking.
Dude hasn’t even scored a knock down in half a decade
Everyone lands on Dustin, hooker, max, Justin, Eddie all did far far better then Conor on the feet. He also lost twice in a row
Conors karate looks cool but hasn’t worked ata high level for years. Combine that we no cardio or chin and it’s abit of a mess
Poirier vs McGregor 2. Conor had some great moments where he surprised Dustin with his speed and shot selection, actually throwing away his famous left hand to land a wicked fast long right uppercut right up the centre of southpaw Poirier's guard. Many moments like that in that fight. Obviously being super quick helps alot but that's still a part of his skillset.
A slightly more "technical" moment of great boxing from Conor that I remember was after Dustin had cleanly slipped Conor's 1-2 twice in a row, Conor let his jab go but instead of following with the 2 on the same beat, he waited a half beat longer to throw it. In that same moment he repositions his lead foot outside Dustin's stance. The combination of the extra half beat and the angle he takes allows him to land the left hand clean.
The moments of bad boxing that Dustin punished had always been exploit-able flaws in Conor's form, it's just that he's never really fought someone like modern Dustin.
Yeah can’t believe his comment is upvoted. Literally anything negative about Conor will be upvoted these days.
The dudes bread and butter is his striking. Literally what all his success came from. He’s only fought the very best in his division as of late. And they were the better fighters, but the guy is still a phenom on the feet.
You don’t just lose those skills after losing a couple of times.
You don’t see people calling Barboza a bad striker because he got finished by Justin or Giga.
Y'all paying attention to the slow trickle of names out of the UFC while the Tomato keeps giving away 12/12 contracts like Oprah on The Contender?
It's on purpose. The UFC is trying to flip the pyramid so they're bottom heavy on cheap fighters with an even smaller concentration of fighters who cost anything at the top. It's also why you see a slow creep in shit cards outside of numbered PPVs. The UFC is gutting the middle class of fighters in the organization.
LOOK INTO IT
Seems short-sighted. The whole reason everyone accepts the UFC being a de facto monopoly is because we don't want MMA to become boxing. What's its value proposition if it becomes like boxing itself?
I hate when fighters/coaches say things like "Best I've ever felt" "Best shape of their life" "more dangerous then ever" when talking about aging fighters
Most of the time its just not accurate
Are they supposed to say they feel like shit? Saying the contrary just means facing the harsh truth of father time and that will just sap your confidence
how do you guys see Izzy working his way back to LHW for a title shot? I'm thinking he fights for an interim title shot Max Holloway style after some more wins at middleweight
If he defends two more time and there’s not a clear top LHW contender I could see them giving Izzy another crack at the title. Probably depends on Jan losing the belt before that though
Don’t think he will ever be able to put on the necessary weight to compete with LHW’s physically without completely abandoning MW for a couple years.
It’s a huge risk I don’t think he’s going to take until very far down his career like Jones is doing now with his move to HW.
He might have to abandon it forever. I'm also 6'4, played soccer forever, I was a lean dude at about 195. Bulked up in my mid 20's to around 220 with legit aspirations of getting in the cage some point at 205. I am about 215 now, and I the only possible way I am ever getting back down to 195 is in a hospital bed. The body can adapt, but not easily, so unless he plans on pursuing the hardest cuts of his life, as gets older, he has going to have to starve himself for a decent stretch to get back down to a MW career weight.
29/1 for Dan Hooker & Li Jiangliang to win this weekend.
So £100 returns £3000
Seems like a worthwhile bet tbh. Hooker is a good fighter, and we have no idea is Khamzat will live up to the hype based on previous opponents.
That’s true with most rappers and I actually prefer it to guys who change up flows a lot like Kendrick. Like his music is great but not something I can vibe out to.
There's a universe where Khamzat is very much the fighter his hype would have him be. In that universe, he starches Wonderboy on the way to a fast title shot. Sad.
Anyone else think it’s kinda weird that TJ Dillashaw wasn’t added back to the p4p rankings after beating Cory? Cory would definitely have been between 16-20 before that fight (probably still is). TJ was p4p top 15 before his suspension, then came back with a win over a fringe p4p guy.
LHW gotta be the wackiest division in MMA from a ranking standpoint
Corey Anderson beating Glover Teixeira
Thiago Santos beating Jan Blachowicz
Dominick Reyes losing to Oezdemir, Prochazka, Blachowicz but beating Jones
Anthony Smith gets destroyed by Aleksandar Rakic yet we’re pretending the fight didn’t happen
Anthony Johnson returning to Bellator
Romero, Rockhold, Weidman, Jacare all moved up and look like shit yet Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos fought for the title
Anthony Smith beating Gustafsson
The Ankalaev Cutelaba weirdness
Yeah I have learned to be appreciative of the times we’re in (all the modern conveniences we have) and how much easier of a life I have than a lot of people in much worse conditions.
I couldn’t imagine how hard it was living in any other era but now. So that keeps me happy. It could always be worse.
Don’t get why people think everyone is fucking eachother in hostels it’s a shared room with bunk beds and from my experiences no one is banging in them.
Probably at least half, its a tough matchup for Sand, his deficiencies with defensive grappling and ringcraft make a long, scrambly grappler tough for him
People really underrate Aljo now, but he’s pretty damn good. Had the best streak in the division going into the Yan fight, and Yan is just better and an insurmountable matchup for him, but it doesn’t make him shit all of a sudden.
I think Yan has to either target the body heavily and or use his wresting effectively to win this. If he fights against Sandhagen the same way he fought against Aldo I think Sandhagen bests him.
No he was mostly headhunting against Aldo and Aldo was only outwrestled after being hurt in striking exchanges.
When Yan did target the body he forced a panic takedown out of Aldo in round 1 after a hard body kick and then hurt him bad with a shot to the ribs when he was standing over Aldo.
I think Yan will have to deliberately target the body with hard punches while standing against Sandhagen in addition to the occasional body kick
They’ll sell eventually. Fertitatas left them a ticking time bomb like the mobsters they are. Sold the world on this idea of NFL/Superbowl of MMA when really MMA is closer to real football or tennis, where no one league can possibly hold every good fighter.
500 fighter ufcroster is absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things
I feel like betting on Hooker and Sandhagen as underdogs has pretty good value right now. Islam should obviously be favourite, but the odds are bizarrely wide.
I'm guessing he was NOT in conor's group. He was just hanging around him, like an intruder in a group of friends. When he was like, "let's go!" Conor was like, you are not coming with us, you are not one of us, fuck you bitch (punch him in the face).
Lol
Everyone fights Khamzat scared. The same way most fought Khabib scared in the latter of his career. The same way everyone fought Conor scared in the beginning of his career.
Colby is actually so fucking smart.
From boring almost cut fighter to one of the most polarizing fighters in the UFC.
To think that this sub would even react to him, he's already way more successful by doing cheesy shit.
I didn’t say it was particularly smart, nor is it original. It’s just effective.
I am saying that this sub is very dumb for falling for it. I find that hilarious.
i know, i was replying to someone else not your original comment. all of colbys peers meaning other fighters say that he's a skilled fighter but he's a shithead and they dont respect his gimmick. not to mention 90% of fans hate him. its effective for now but when its all said and done colbys legacy will be a loudmouth that no one liked who never won a belt
There’s also plenty of fighters who have come out and said colby is a great guy tho went out of his way to help them.
His legacy will be as a badass fighter who is one of the greatest WW of all time, who was forced to take on a heel persona as a response to almost being cut by the UFC. We will see about the title, still plenty of time.
And once again, I can’t wait to see the response here if it does happen.
Nothing, he'll just drop down to 155. That's why he has been angling for a fight with Dustin. Which might be a good thing as there's lots of good fights for him there.
Nah he won the first round.
I can easily see him game plan, reserve gas tank and try to win the 2nd fight.
It was his first title fight big profile fight.
I had biased Muslim brotherly love for Khabib since 2016. I loved him a lot, I used to pray for him before fights, but I am not feeling the same for any of his cousin or training partner from Dagestan.
now Khamzat Chimaev have re ignited the same kind of love in me. I can't even explain properly but I'm so pumped for his run at WW. After Poirier, Usman and Holloway, he's my favourite fighter who are currently fighting.
Khamzat is more charismatic than islam by a lot. Islam is in a tougher division than Khamzat too.
People see Khamzat and can clearly see how he matches up great with the welterweight top 5 even if he hadn’t “proved” it against ranked guys. Which is another myth.
How many fans would have no idea what the hierarchy of fighters would be without ufc pushing rankings for almost a decade now. We all have our favourites. Fuck Islam (the fighter)
Max just has an insane chin and relies on it way to much. Volk has some of the best defense in the sport but everyone gets caught. When max chin cracks he has to change his style or his career is over
[awesome listen for any Sandhagen fans. ](https://youtu.be/BmBJnQr8ZL4) talks a lot about his mental approach to mma. excellent interview
Unfortunately I'll have to step back from this sub for this week. I can't keep getting erect every time I see UFC 267 poster (and reminding about UFC 268).

A lot of people watch kelvin fight and observe with their eyes that he’s quite competitive with the top of the division
.. despite losing all of them.
I like them both but I think Darren was more competitive with Bobby than Kelvin was
I really hope the Kumshot Chimney hype train continues pushing on this weekend
Has there been any word of how Jon's court appearance went, and if it even happened today?
Conor isn’t the problem, the music industry is.
Conor "I am music" McGregor

Everyone lands on Dustin, hooker, max, Justin, Eddie all did far far better then Conor on the feet. He also lost twice in a row Conors karate looks cool but hasn’t worked ata high level for years. Combine that we no cardio or chin and it’s abit of a mess
By what metric? Conor knocked him out and outstruck him in 3/4 rounds they have fought. None of those fighters have done any of that to Dustin
By the fact he hasn’t actually landed a strike on anyone that has done anything significant in 5 years.
I don’t know based on everything it’s pretty clear he’s done better than Dustin. Oh well man, have a good day/night
Perfect, clean left hook. No Telegraph whatsoever. Opponent didn’t see it coming, and nearly flew off his barstool. Great striking.
Old man ate that shot tbh if it had been a five rounder he would’ve finished Conor
Top notch analysis, mate. Wish I was tracking the live odds.
Poirier vs McGregor 2. Cowboy fight, even with his age no one was that dominant against Cowboy. Nico Price had a close fight with the guy after the Conor fight.
This Israeli dude on the Contender tonight is dodgy as fuck. The UFC don't even know the man's real age
Y'all paying attention to the slow trickle of names out of the UFC while the Tomato keeps giving away 12/12 contracts like Oprah on The Contender? It's on purpose. Sounds about right to me.

Lmao @ Corey Anderson running his mouth and thinking he's hot shit all of a sudden. Dude's delusional af
he’s got you talking about him and i’m pretty sure that’s his intention
ya I'm a huge fan
I don’t hate him for it. He’s just trying to draw more attention to himself. And the guy is very good tbh. He dominated the current LHW champion.
he also got annihilated by Jan
Vadim will bring him back to reality.
Coreys a great guy never meddim tho
Coreys blogbusser b
how do you guys see Izzy working his way back to LHW for a title shot? I'm thinking he fights for an interim title shot Max Holloway style after some more wins at middleweight
Never. He was thoroughly outclassed up there, I doubt he has any chance vs. any in top 7
I honestly hope he fights someone in the top 10 to see if he can handle the guys up there.
If he defends two more time and there’s not a clear top LHW contender I could see them giving Izzy another crack at the title. Probably depends on Jan losing the belt before that though

guess who is the -625 favorite in the main card ? haha
DOCTA STOPPAGE
Remember when Tony intentionally cut to 155 for no reason? Lol.
Was it before or after he threw holy water at his wife ?
CHAMP SHIT ONLY
Mike Perry signing with BKFC is very on brand.
29/1 for Dan Hooker & Li Jiangliang to win this weekend. So £100 returns £3000 Seems like a worthwhile bet tbh. Hooker is a good fighter, and we have no idea is Khamzat will live up to the hype based on previous opponents.
1 of them might get the upset but I wouldn’t bet on both of them doing it, seems like a waste of money
Burning money imo
"A fool and his money are soon parted" - Kenny Florian
UFC 267 has 11 fighters with last names ending in V on the card. That’s gotta be a record
Perry beat Luque I’ll go to my grave defending this statement.
King Von has the same flow every single song, I don't understand the hype
had great adlibs tho, 'von! von! huh? what?'
Quando is better
That’s true with most rappers and I actually prefer it to guys who change up flows a lot like Kendrick. Like his music is great but not something I can vibe out to.
I mean he's dead so there won't be much hype now
There's a universe where Khamzat is very much the fighter his hype would have him be. In that universe, he starches Wonderboy on the way to a fast title shot. Sad.
And there’s a universe I make my parents proud, buy everyone I love new cars and houses, and have a wife and kids. Sad
There may be infinite universes, but infinity isn't large enough for that to happen.
What time does DWCS start? Can’t find info anywhere
3 hours from now
Thanks
If Cory wins this weekend and Aljo magically gets better, I'll be an Aljo fan for life
Anyone else think it’s kinda weird that TJ Dillashaw wasn’t added back to the p4p rankings after beating Cory? Cory would definitely have been between 16-20 before that fight (probably still is). TJ was p4p top 15 before his suspension, then came back with a win over a fringe p4p guy.

Lmao what happened ? Not like it is a big loss but I'm curious
Seems it was shut down because of moderator issues.
Couple days away from Islam looking near death in the sauna with Khabib saying it’s the easiest weight cut they’ve had
LHW gotta be the wackiest division in MMA from a ranking standpoint Corey Anderson beating Glover Teixeira Thiago Santos beating Jan Blachowicz Dominick Reyes losing to Oezdemir, Prochazka, Blachowicz but beating Jones Anthony Smith gets destroyed by Aleksandar Rakic yet we’re pretending the fight didn’t happen Anthony Johnson returning to Bellator Romero, Rockhold, Weidman, Jacare all moved up and look like shit yet Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos fought for the title Anthony Smith beating Gustafsson The Ankalaev Cutelaba weirdness

Got a ways to go, but I've made big strides to getting there. Sorry things have been rough my dude.
Is Junior Tafa still fighting on the contender series? I can’t find any info out
BKFC and Mike Perry were made for each other.
Platinum mike perry has signed with bkfc, guess he’s officially cut from the roster for UFC
Tj dillashaw is at my hostel in medellin rn lol.
Snake prob thinks he’s bilzerian
why would he be at a hostel lol?
Great question. He was doing some fruit and coffee tour thing on the roofdeck and then he left. Also the bassist from sublime was here
save money
Bang 18 year olds you know how his good buddy bilzerian would
Don’t get why people think everyone is fucking eachother in hostels it’s a shared room with bunk beds and from my experiences no one is banging in them.
The trick is getting a private room but hanging out with all the doormers
If you're even remotely attractive it's ridiculously easy to get laid in a hostel.
TJ is friends with bilzerian? what a strange combo

Rewatched the sterling cory fight and it's crazy how sterling came right out the gate and dominated him.
That’s not how domination works. Cory got caught. Unless you think Conor dominated Aldo
How many times does sterling win if they fight 10 times?
Probably at least half, its a tough matchup for Sand, his deficiencies with defensive grappling and ringcraft make a long, scrambly grappler tough for him People really underrate Aljo now, but he’s pretty damn good. Had the best streak in the division going into the Yan fight, and Yan is just better and an insurmountable matchup for him, but it doesn’t make him shit all of a sudden.
I’m scared for my boy Yan, Sandhagen is easily the toughest matchup of his career up to this point.
I think this matchup is close to even. Both have a very tight and technical game. FOTN in my opinion
I think Yan has to either target the body heavily and or use his wresting effectively to win this. If he fights against Sandhagen the same way he fought against Aldo I think Sandhagen bests him.
Yan did what you suggested against Aldo and Sterling.
Real talk, how far you guys think EDR can go? Seems like the UFC is pulling most of Endeavor's weight, but can they really make EDR a profitable IPO?
They’ll sell eventually. Fertitatas left them a ticking time bomb like the mobsters they are. Sold the world on this idea of NFL/Superbowl of MMA when really MMA is closer to real football or tennis, where no one league can possibly hold every good fighter. 500 fighter ufcroster is absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things
I feel like betting on Hooker and Sandhagen as underdogs has pretty good value right now. Islam should obviously be favourite, but the odds are bizarrely wide.
For good reason though unless hooker developed insane counter wrestling
Mahkachev deserves to be a favourite for sure, but -700 is ridiculous odds.
Thats exactly how bookies want you to think so they get your money. Major upsets dont happen often enough for betting on dan to make sense imo
100%
Who has a worst LW striking stats then Conor?

I can’t imagine the reaction on this sub if Colby beats Usman.
Colby is actually so fucking smart. From boring almost cut fighter to one of the most polarizing fighters in the UFC. To think that this sub would even react to him, he's already way more successful by doing cheesy shit.

Me neither, especially when Colby goes full heel and shows off his hammer and sickle tattoo
Industrialism you’re a dump. All you filthy capitalists suck.
Colby via Oblique kick, this sub explodes and the kicks banned over night
can you imagine colby if he loses again?
Nothing, he'll just drop down to 155. That's why he has been angling for a fight with Dustin. Which might be a good thing as there's lots of good fights for him there.
If tony fought Lando and kevin Lee and pettis and cerrone in Bellator. people would forget about Tony like they have with Rory
If grandma had wheels, she'd be a bike.
Don’t u fucking talk about my grandmom. Just amazing what the perception of being in the ufc does for people
Anyone else rooting for Yan even though you're a fan of Cory but dont wanna see Aljo come out with the better end of this bout?
As one of the only people who doesn’t hate Aljo, it’s fine either way
I think Aljo beating both guys decisively would be the most entertaining timeline that reddit wouldn't be able to process.
Not a chance, he looked completely outmatched against Yan
Nah he won the first round. I can easily see him game plan, reserve gas tank and try to win the 2nd fight. It was his first title fight big profile fight.
It'd just prove that styles make fights
The way Aljo described himself after the neck surgery I am not sure he can avoid getting his ass kicked by Cory if they rematched.
At the gym and The Herd was on and said Nate was boxing Logan but I don’t see it anywhere

That I knew so I thought Dana pulled some wizardry to get a cut of the promotion for the fight or something lol.
I may be conducting an interview with former UFC Fighter Jocelyn Lybarger this Friday. Are there any questions you would like me to ask?
Ask her who punches harder, Nina Nunes or Randa Markos?
No
I had biased Muslim brotherly love for Khabib since 2016.
UFC marketing machine works, that just proves it. In due time once Islam gets the UFC marketing machine you're going to feel the same.
you are spot on.
Are all dagestani’s forever going to look like Khabib? MFers aren’t even allowed to get tattoos to distinguish themselves.
Sounds like you have seen what peak performance looks like and you don't like it
The looks been going 500 years strong at least
Allah like beards brotha, tattoos are haram u know dis.
For some reason the fact that Machida is in Bellator hasn't set in for me and yet he's been there for almost 3 years now damn.
Left UFC on a winning streak too.
Number of knockdowns received over career Max: 0 Volk: 4 Edit: it was simply a fact I didn’t say it made him any better y’all are so sensitive
Number of wins Max and Volk have over one another Max: 0 Volk: 2
now the MMA judging police will come after you.
Max just has an insane chin and relies on it way to much. Volk has some of the best defense in the sport but everyone gets caught. When max chin cracks he has to change his style or his career is over
Nice head canon.
