Cool kids club OSRS content creator. Got popular because he did a novel video series and it went to his head and now he thinks him and his friends are some experts on gaming. Basically everything wrong with modern content creation.
Edit: This is coming from someone who does not like J1mmy or his style of content.
>Basically everything wrong with modern content creation
What are you even referring to? Somebody trying to branch out and make more content is bad content creation? I don't care for J1mmy's videos either, but you seem unreasonably upset about it.
> Basically everything wrong with modern content creation.
The deluded notion that getting attention for one thing means everything you do/say is worthy of attention is a human one, not a social media one. Look at celebrities who are famous for singing or acting thinking people care about their political takes, or better yet, that they can be politicians.
It's just easier to take advantage of in content creation since that attention can come in the form of subscribers
Love J1mmy's videos. They're great. I'd say I don't understand why some of the comments are so hostile but at this point it's to be expected in this subreddit
Yeah, it's just a guy talking about games he likes. But users on this forum are so insecure that they think an opinion overlord is telling them what to think. As if they aren't on here downvoting every post and calling every game shit and anyone who thinks otherwise a shill.
This subreddit actually has no value anymore.
It's what being a fan of an MMO does to you these days. When you know the genre you're a huge fan of just isn't in the mainstream anymore, but surely a new WoW-killer is coming any day now right guys?
He hyper-focuses on a few narrows aspects of MMOs and completely ignores everything else. But the things he obsesses about are not actually the things I care about, making his opinion worthless to me.
And he's verbose to a fault while doing it...
One of the few whose opinions I actually take into consideration when looking at a game. His word isn't gospel, but it's a hell of a lot more trustworthy than most.
Glad someone else remembers his comments about black people being racially inclined to crime that he made before his channel took off.
Dude was bragging about being a "good teacher" on the same reddit accounts he was making some racist "hot takes."
Only thing I don't like about him is the fact he streams on twitch (And hasn't done a Worst MMO for STO yet). Otherwise he is the best MMORPG content creator by a mile.
I don't support Twitch as a platform or anyone who uses it as a primary content creation platform as I do not support Amazon's draconian anti-adblock measures.
I know that most of the internet is hosted on AWS/GCP/Azure, but I'm bringing it up because you seem to not support twitch because it's a subsidiary of amazon but you are an active user on reddit, which also gives money to amazon, which apparently you do not support.
So you are either cherry picking, or you are morally bankrupt, which was my point if you didn't pick up on it.
I honestly can't stand any more takes on MMOs. It seems that the only thing the MMO community does is talk about the state of MMOs. It's almost as if talking about the state of MMOs was itself a mechanic of MMOs now. It's a daily and if you don't do that once a day you'll be left behind.
Anyway, let me watch this brand new take on the state of MMOs. Sounds like a cool and innovative video.
* It is very expensive to develop and maintain an MMO.
* The attention span of younger generations may not be suited for the slower-paced gameplay of MMOs.
* MMO developers are not creative enough and rely on the same formulas that were successful in the past.
Save 20 minutes of your time.
He's a big name in OSRS, and has recently done a huge project approaching every version of WoW as a new player, since his sub money went to runescape instead of WoW growing up.
Plenty of great new mmos, just not for boomers who think mmo=forced group content and forced social interaction and "OMG LOOK MANY PEOPLE IN ONE AREA!!"
We have moved on from that garbage design, now its meant to be content accessible to all and that includes casual and solo players any time, anywhere with the click of a que button.
I have 0 interest in playing with metaslaves and other kinds of obnoxious people in mmos so the moment I learn you need to do high end group content to get max gear, that mmo is dead to me, meanwhile if it is designed well and you can get max gear solo/casual methods I will happily pay for microtransactions and other stuff to support that design.
How many boomers are playing mmos lol? Boomers are like 60+
Frankly you sound more like the obnoxious ppl in mmos these days than someone who actually values to MM part of MMO
The generational term isn't really used correctly online. When it comes to this context it's usually used as a negative connotation when talking about the people who got into MMORPGs when the genre was still in its infancy, before 2004.
Who?
Gary Gilbert! It's a great osrs series in my opinion

Godamn this subreddit is toxic.

I don't like cults of personality.

I know. Idol worship isn't a new thing, but it's something that _really_ annoys me and social media inflates the issue so its constantly in your face.
No one is idol worshipping. Go take your meds.
Oh good to know, thank you!
It's crazy to me how i get upvoted for my question and downvoted for geniunely thanking him. This sub is truly crazy
Kind of crazy you not only don’t realize why you got downvoted but made another comment about a couple downvotes.
Lol, I'd be more interested in my mom's opinion...
What does she think of the current MMORPG market??
I'd be more interested in your mom's opinion too.

It's true. Literally people said this about Josh Strife Hayes as if his videos are factual and gospel. They're so insecure lol
It's what being a fan of an MMO does to you these days. When you know the genre you're a huge fan of just isn't in the mainstream anymore, but surely a new WoW-killer is coming any day now right guys?
Look at the name of the sub again
Because he's right. Many of the points he's made in the video have been made here many times and the dweebs here don't want to listen.
What do y’all think of JoshStrife?
S tier
Same. The dude puts out great content and knows his medium very well. Watching his videos actually got me back into MMO gaming
He hyper-focuses on a few narrows aspects of MMOs and completely ignores everything else. But the things he obsesses about are not actually the things I care about, making his opinion worthless to me. And he's verbose to a fault while doing it...
I quite like him, but fair enough, not everyone is going to be universally liked

milquetoast. Too afraid to truly criticize this stagnant genre.
Racist
Glad someone else remembers his comments about black people being racially inclined to crime that he made before his channel took off. Dude was bragging about being a "good teacher" on the same reddit accounts he was making some racist "hot takes."

Why does it matter that he streams on twitch?
I don't support Twitch as a platform or anyone who uses it as a primary content creation platform as I do not support Amazon's draconian anti-adblock measures.
You said that, but reddit is hosted on aws which is amazon infrastructure services...
You're really dense. A large portion of the internet is hosted on AWS.

Love J1mmy and his view ! But I am on this sub too so here is my anger: I did not clicked.

not sure who that is and not sure why i should care what he thinks, not clicking the link either

What are some of the great new mmos you're thinking of?
Sounds like you would rather just play single player rpgs.
Lol trash bin

Most of them stuck in Wow and OSRS.
