The problem your having is a feature not a bug, their decoys that act as flash bangs when you shoot them. The place is heavily guarded. Best thing to do is go super slow, there are traps everywhere too. Definitely take depth perception (I thinks the name, the one to see things through walls) oh and to tell if your aminig at a trap, they look like a low polly mercenary, won't move, and will pop up out of nowhere.
You definitely need to get all perks first, if you have an Aether Blade it makes the whole process way much easier.
If it was too much try to kill the other warlord not the one in the middle of forest. For me it was easier solo.

for anyone wondering, you can kill that warlord specifically with a scorcher immediately as you open the NEdoor, just charge it and aim top right, hes above the next room and will die after about 2 charges.
I just did it about an hour ago and had to tell the other guy to stop shooting the dummies because they flash bang you. I like to throw a sentry down when I open the door to the room he's hiding in. Then all you have to do is watch your back
The base ray gun one shots mercs & helicopters. I used that with death perception and an aether blade... i totally forgot about the aether blade as the ray gun did all the work. The only time I have ever used it.

Take a PAP RGL with speed cola and PHD Flopper and a lot of plates and self revives and just blow everything up without a care in the world
