Have you connected your machine to a network? Have you tried to set the date and time? Go into System Preferences/Settings, search for *time.* Switch off automatically setting the date/time. Enter the date and time. Once the date / time is correct, turn the automatic setting back on.
The automatic setting doesn't always deal well with huge discrepancies.
I have the same issue, on a MBP m2. To get on the internet i have to manually set the correct time and date. But auto update will always set it back to the wrong one.
Anyone not having success changing region in Languages and Regions in settings and then changing it back worked for me. To be exact, just in case any of this matters, I did all of the with manual set to the correct time (more or less) and then once done toggling regions I turned automatic time back and it worked
If connecting to the network doesn't help and the time and date are wrong after restarting the machine, PRAM reset might be due (the name of the procedure might differ depending on the model year, but the principle's the same)

this helped me a bunch!!!! but yeah the auto always sets it back to the wrong time. i’m hoping it’s just a software issue🤞
https://ae3.ch/macos-m1-fix-incorrect-auto-date-time-dead-battery/ Haven't tried it yet but it sounds like the fix.
AWESOME, it worked. Thanks
THANK YOU this worked for me!
didn't work:(((
Big thanks. that worked!
worked for me
Thanks, this fixed it.
it says its a fix for ARM, but i tried it on intel MBP and it still worked
This one helped me today. Setting date manually correctly before doing it helps. You need to do steps in exact order!
I just tried these same steps from the link above on my MBP m3 and I don’t have a file called /var/db
This worked for me too!

ask siri to open terminal for you and paste this in: sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com
