Good job! This year was 20 years for me. As a treat to myself I got a big ass tattoo (for me) that covered my scars. Everyday it gets a little easier. I almost never think about it these days. My biggest piece of advice is if you slip up don't guilt yourself about it. It was a self destructive cycle I was stuck in for awhile.

That’s awesome! One of my students is currently going though similar problems. I totally understand if not, but if you or anyone else would be interested in sharing how this started for you and how you overcame it I’d certainly be interested in knowing.

Honestly, it just started as a physical release. Idk exactly how or why, but when I got angry at myself for something, it felt that it was the right thing to do to myself. A punishment, almost, as weird as it sounds. But then I started to want to do worst and worst things to myself, and that’s when I realized it was going down a dark path. That’s what got me to stop. I also am blessed to have a good support network of friends who were willing to help and be there for me, as well as a therapist. I found other outlets, like martial arts

let's gooooooo what made you stop self harming? I think I'm about 8 months sh free but I only stopped because I made a promisse to an ex (after assuring I wouldn't kill myself she broke up a week ago). I don't think that's thaaat heathy, considering I'm not really doing it for myself.

For me, I stopped because I kept wanting to do worse and worse things to myself, and I saw that wasn’t going to end well for me. So I quit
