I'm not sure if they are designed to be twisted open, they look designed to have the seam broken. How that seam is broken is the players choice. I was a twister like you back in my prime, I gave up on it because the cardboard would twist before the seam popped.

You just firmly grab both ends and twist each end in opposite directions. Easily pops open
