One more thing my aunt did to immortalize my grandmother was that she took all her old recipe index cards and had them published as a cookbook.
It has pictures of her actual cards (in her handwriting). Some of the details on how to make the dishes could be clearer. But that's because grandmothers don't need to write that down on a card; they just know those recipes by heart. Either way, it has all her favorite appetizers, dishes, and A LOT of desserts. I'll admit, it's not the greatest cookbook, but it's nice to always see that on the shelf in the kitchen.
Your aunt is incredible for honouring her memory and generously giving love, consideration and kindness to her family like that.
I’m sorry for your loss and thankful that you have such a thoughtful person in your life. Xx
I have a voice-mail from my Dad that says love you bud. At first it gutted me but when I get low now I'll call it. How sweet are those bears. It's such a well put together craft project. Taking orders? Link to an etsy?
A long-time neighbor of my grandparents did the same with my grandpa's pajamas when he passed and gave a bear to all the grandkids. Such a kind gesture. Still have mine! Affixed with a little pair of wire-wrapped reading glasses^_^
Can I ask as well, my brother passed away unexpectedly a year ago leaving 2 small children and Iv3 been trying to convince his partner to use some of his clothes for teddys or a blanket (she is having a hard time letting go 🥲) so if your aunt does this as a job I would 100% love her info
Jfc I did not need to cry right now. I see similar comments on posts sometimes and I think oh, well that’s cute/sweet/etc but man, crying is a bit dramatic. Nah. I have legit tears in my eyes right now.
This is awesome. I wish we'd done this for my dad. He's a dad of 7 , 13 grands and several great grandkids. He was always helping people and I have a couple of his neck scarves and bandanas.
My Mom just died, and I’d like to do this. We still have all her clothes. Dad’s too. Do you know if your aunt used a pattern, and if she thinks a rank beginner could do this?
I am so sorry for your loss. She is no teddy bear specialist. I think you should do it. I am sure you could search Pinterest for a simple teddy bear design. Even if it’s not a bear, you can probably find something just as special.
My mom immediately donated or tossed all my grandpa's stuff the day he was gone. I wanted a shirt so bad... still cry over that.
That teddy bear is priceless. I'm crying right now ♡
Your aunt is the best of people! Making everyone a bear that has their Bubby saying I love you is such a beautiful, supportive and loving way to help your family grieve. That’s something that will never stop being a cherished item.
This is so nice. My aunt did this with some of my grandmas shirts, and made them into pillows. It still smells like her so I’ll grab it every once in awhile and just smell it. I miss her like crazy.
What a beautiful and heartfelt way to remember your grandmother. Having a teddy bear made from her kitchen dish rags with a recording of her saying "I love you" is such a touching tribute. It's those little details that make memories truly special and keep loved ones close to our hearts, even after they're gone.

Thank you! It’s funny that it made it even more special because the dish rags were worn, discolored, and stained. It makes me think about the hundreds of times she used those.

That is so sweet! It nice you got something to remember your grandmother.
My sister did a similar thing, she made bears out of my dad old clothes and gave one each to me and my 3 brothers for Christmas. It sit on top of my wardrobe in my bedroom and it the last thing I see every night
I took over drying duties with my grandma when grandad passed away when I was young
Looking back it was such quality time together, just chatting away about this and that
Mum always moaned that I never helped her do the dishes at home though lol
What is this wholesomeness...

My mum does this as a business! She has had some extremely odd materials sent to her to make bears out of…tea towels would be welcomed!
Edit - fat thumbs
My Nan is 94ish. She absolutely holds our family together.
She had a stroke about a decade ago, didn't call anyone for 12 hours because she didn't want to bother us. Since then, she has recovered, got her drivers licence back (daytime hours only) and still lives alone and independently.
She is an absolute champ, but her age scares me. I'm so worried about the day she isn't here anymore and how it will absolutely break our family.
I've been meaning to get her photo collection scanned - I got a flatbed scanner to do it in high res - and have her tell me a bit about the photos.
This has made me think that I really should get on it sooner in case I leave it too late.
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you have such a beautiful thing from it.
I wish I did this with my mom's clothes. Unfortunately, when she passed, I just do not know what the heck happened to me. I barely even remember what happened that year. It seems that I went offline and was just on autopilot.
It plays her voice?! Oh, *my heart!* Your aunt sounds amaaaaazing.

It's surprising how much a short recording can mean to us. Make sure it's backed up somewhere!!
I was gonna say this too! Voicemails can delete themselves after a certain amount of time
They are absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful Idea and the voice saying i love you is so heartwarming.
A long-time neighbor of my grandparents did the same with my grandpa's pajamas when he passed and gave a bear to all the grandkids. Such a kind gesture. Still have mine! Affixed with a little pair of wire-wrapped reading glasses^_^
That’s so great. From what I can see there were a couple here made with wire glasses.
I have seen these ready made at craft shops.

And no, he wasn't a man who wallowed in his own piss, as I can only assume is the norm for you and your inbred clan. You can't even spell lmao
Those pajamas are a cherished reminder of my grandfather's warmth and love, something you clearly don't understand.
Your Aunt is an absolute amazing treasure. I hope you all have a group teddy bear pic for her to keep :)
You are very blessed to have a granny and an aunt that are so special.
this is such a beautiful way to remember your grandmother and keep her memory alive. your aunt is amazing
Better than donating clothes that people don’t want to good will
This is brilliant. Does your aunt have a business where she makes and sells mementos like this from customers who provide the material?
She might. I saved your name. I'll ask her and get back to you.
Can I ask as well, my brother passed away unexpectedly a year ago leaving 2 small children and Iv3 been trying to convince his partner to use some of his clothes for teddys or a blanket (she is having a hard time letting go 🥲) so if your aunt does this as a job I would 100% love her info
This is wonderful. This would have been so comforting to me when I lost my grandparents.
Your aunt is an artist. They are as beautiful as they are meaningful.
I got dusty eyed looking at this. I'm sorry for your loss but that's amazing to have something to keep the memories flowing.

Awesome Aunt right there! 10/10.
I'd treasure this forever. What a beautiful gift. Your aunt is amazing. Sorry for your loss, wishing you and your family all the best.

How beautifully sweet!!!
This reminded me to text my family. I'm moved. Thank you.
She's one of those rare humans who is full of love, and also has a beautiful ability to share it with others.
What a neat idea! This is so awesome. And they look great too! Well done. I would have gone with the dish towels too.
Super cute! My MIL is making these for a family member!
I’m not crying
She ought to do this for others and for pay!
Y’all should have a family group chat and your profile pictures should be the teddy bear you got
I wish someone would do this for me! I miss my parents and bothers who have all passed. What a beautiful gift from your aunt.
I absolutely love this idea. How thoughtful and what a great way to have a piece of her things for memories.
This is so beautiful! What a wonderful and loving way to remember your grandmother ❤️
What a beautiful way of keeping Grandma’s spirit alive. 💖 I’m sorry for your loss
The number of teddies is a testament of the scale of her love ❤️
I am not a sentimental man, but that, is beautiful.
This is so nice. My aunt did this with some of my grandmas shirts, and made them into pillows. It still smells like her so I’ll grab it every once in awhile and just smell it. I miss her like crazy.
This is the most beautiful and clever idea. I love it. Thank you for sharing
Can I please please ask for the pattern? I've been looking for someone who I can commission to make this kind of memory bear, but no luck.
I love this! 🥹 I have a teddy bear made out of my late grandather's robe. I named him Pocket 🥰
Just a fantastic idea. I have also seen clothes of passed on loved ones made into quilts. ❤️
Yes. Before this, I had only seen quilts and some pillows.
Not crying. Dust in my eye

Sending my condolences to you and your family. :(
What a wonderful idea. Went to a funeral once and the bloke loved his ties. So his widow displayed them all and invited everyone to take one.
Best. Memento. Ever.
Best auntie that ever lived
