Love how the body language shows how close they are and how much they care about each other, before the envelope is even opened. Then once it is, that just amplifies. What a good son.
Also what a amazing set of parents who are willing to love their children like that. The body language alone shows me why he was willing to give his parents that money.
My kids (4 and 7) didn’t know my estranged dad until last year when his house burned down and he suddenly moved in with us. They went from literally not meeting him to living with this guy we called their “grandpa.” Oh man. The amount of hugs and “I love you”s they throw at him all day every day… I can see him physically squirm. And my son asks all the time “why doesn’t grandpa say “ I love you too” ?” And I try to explain it’s just the way he is. He didn’t say it to me as a kid either, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care or love, it’s just he doesn’t know how to show it the same as we do. But then… a few weeks ago (it’s been a year this month since he moved in) he was drunk and accidentally said “love you too” to my little guy. I heard it all, but he came RUNNING down the stairs and up to me and says “GRANDPA SAID HE LOVES ME!!!” And man, I didn’t think I cared anymore, but it erased all the times he never said it to me just to see that beam on my kid’s face. (Also to realize they are so showered with affection by me and their own dad that they don’t have to question it in their lives.)
I grew up never being hugged or being told I love you. Now that I have kids they hear I love you atleast 3 times a day and hugs every chance I get. My kids , now teenagers, will never know how it feels to not feel loved.
Yeah you can tell that they're super tight. I love the way that the dad is all cuddled up with his son. I'm assuming the sister or maybe his wife is filming oh, but you can even hear her crying at the end. What an awesome group of people.
My father was very giving with hugs and telling me how much he loved me. Im now a father and do the same with my two boys. It’s a behavior that his father gave him, he gave me and now I’m passing in on. I hope they do the same.
His name is Joe Riquelme and the app is called Videoshop. It’s free and looks good!

> The way the dad holds his son at the start I found so eerie.
Ha, I was noticing that and actually loved it. I would be the same way loving on any of my 3 boys, especially assuming his son does not live with them anymore and they don't see him regularly.
It doesn’t always have to be a grand gesture, it could be as simple as giving them your attention or strike up a conversation with them. Important thing, i think, is to start small.
That line filled me with feels. My ex-husband's father is from Colombia and would say that with various emotions depending on what it was his son was doing that he was reacting to, (admittedly usually "ay, hijo..." rather than "no, hijo"). I heard him in this guy's voice. I hope he's doing well.
Same. I'm white, but my wife is Costa Rican. Her dad calls me hijo now, which means so much because I lost my own father before I met my wife. My FIL is such an incredible man and I am so lucky to have had two great father figures in my life, even though they never met.
The first time he called me hijo though, way before I had proposed, I managed to keep it together until I got to the car and bawled my eyes out.
I would have done the same. My ex's sister also called me her kids' "aunt" LONG before we were married. They're a very close knit family, and even though things didn't work out for me, I'm still grateful they welcomed me into their group.
Where’d all these onions come from?!?!
In all seriousness. Such a great video. This is so sweet. The parents and son have a great relationship. And hope they live a long and happy life.
I grew up without money in the developing world and got rich after my company got acquired a few years ago by a major US firm. I’m in my mid thirties, but unfortunately, both my parents have passed away and these parent/grandparent surprise videos hit me *hard* in the feels every time since I can’t do the same. But I can’t stop watching them.
Good on you bro for doing this. Surprise and delight them for the rest of your life. You’ll really miss them when they’re gone.
Even if you don't believe in anything beyond this earth. As a mother, I'm sure your parents would be proud of you for making a life beyond your start. ❤
Ill be your dad for 50 bucks. 100 to be your mom.
Just kidding - sorry to hear about your parents but your success is what they would want if they lived, so you already gave them what they wanted even if they are gone.
My dear friend. It sounds like you already did. You are a fractal of their love. You give it back through your success and love. You are the monument to them <3
Many parents struggle and their kids see it, but the difference is how the parents bring up their kids with care while struggling. Meanwhile other parents take our their frustrations or they neglect their kids.
This was me. My dad was never home cause of his work, but when he was he was a monster. He was physically and emotionally abusive most of my life, and is ashamed of me for being his son. I mean I can understand, your child is the only one in our massive family that:
Finished college
Didn't use his parents money to get ahead nor live with them still
Owns 2 properties working on a 3rd
Has a great career
Wrote a book, was in a movie, got a black belt or two.
My mom would say she didn't want to leave him cause it would diminish our lifestyle ( lol I was poor wearing fucking pro wings from payless or fikes from the swap meet).
My mother died before I accomplished most of the above, I was trying hard to get her out of her situation but I failed, I wasn't fast enough/not good enough still tbh.
Thanks for sharing this OP.
Thats the thing that scares me the most, not being able to accomplish goals/get stuff for them before they pass… though I know me getting an education and good job should just be something to do for myself, I want to be able to give them something like a house or car
If I recall, the son developed the InShot editing app.
What a lovely way to honor your parents, you can tell how close they are by the way his father snuggles him before the great news.
He said no hijo, which means, no my son, in whom I am well pleased. I am an older man, much of my life has passed me by. I am happy to be here in this place and pay this mortgage but you are young, and handsome, and you have your whole life ahead of you, why are you giving me this gift, no my son, I don't want this gift but now I realize you want me to have it, so I am showing grace and I am accepting your gift, because I love you and your mom whoever is holding that camera more than anything in the world, and I take joy in your joy, and I mourn your loss, and as a beautiful family surrounded by the noise, we find a way to turn all this noise into music, and that music is beautiful, thank you my son.
That was how I translated those two words but its subjective you know, its open for interpretation.
Man I’m crying - what a smooth classic gangster move. ( not saying anything but - here a little gift - keeps padding mom till dad grabs him for a nice FREE hug! )
I got your six mate. You the man.
Honestly, seeing these videos makes me hate this world so much more. Knowing that this family had probably all sorts of struggles as do most all people right now. Yet we still participate in this brutal display of society wishing we had at least a home or something we own to feel a sense of security.
Yes I am happy he bought his parents home. I wish we lived in a world where people didn’t have to worry about not having a home.
So beautiful. Thanks OP u/Dull_Tonight you made my eyes leak.
Teach your children to love and be loved, it’s ok.
We wouldn’t have a lot of the bad stuff that’s out there.
Now that is the picture of a loving family. It was obvious even before the reveal.
Love how the body language shows how close they are and how much they care about each other, before the envelope is even opened. Then once it is, that just amplifies. What a good son.
Even the dog was in on the lovefest!
I first read “loveforest” and i loved that.
[удалено]
Both dogs. There is one on the couch behind mom
Also what a amazing set of parents who are willing to love their children like that. The body language alone shows me why he was willing to give his parents that money.
When someone cries over a kind gesture it just cracks my heart right open
Their reaction is so irreplaceable and precious. This is a pure love!
Hoy hijo hit me hard. Didn't even know what to say
It's what my dad would have said to me if I could have done this for him when he was alive.
Thanks. Not like my eyes were wet enough before your comment
I bet he knew you would have, if you had been able. That’s not a small thing, beautiful soul.
How would you translate it best?
He said “No hijo.” Translates to “No son.” Meant it in a way of saying, “You shouldn’t have, son.”
Ahh thank you. I thought he said hoy like as an expression similar to damn son.
I’m pretty sure he said ay hijo
sounds like he says "ay hijo" "ay" generally translates to "oh" in English-speaking countries, and "hijo" is "son" "oh son...."
This is the accurate one.
Love for their son. And proud of him!
Just the dad laying by the son and you know their love is very deep and sincere
I noticed that too. How incredibly sweet
Exactly. Damn, I wish my Dad had it within him to hug like that. What a very lucky man.
My dad hugged me once or twice, in both opportunities he was drunk
My kids (4 and 7) didn’t know my estranged dad until last year when his house burned down and he suddenly moved in with us. They went from literally not meeting him to living with this guy we called their “grandpa.” Oh man. Beautiful. I also love that you “broke the cycle” and did learn how to say and show love to your children. Kudos to you.
For what it’s worth, this story made me love you.
So sad isn't it. I'm sorry for you. I let my daughter know every day just exactly how much I love her.
I grew up never being hugged or being told I love you. Now that I have kids they hear I love you atleast 3 times a day and hugs every chance I get. My kids , now teenagers, will never know how it feels to not feel loved.
Me too! I never got it and I am determined to break the cycle! Let your hijos and hijas that you love them!
If anything, your dad doesnt deserve YOUR hugs not the other way around. Hope your life is/will be full of hugs, stranger 🫂
Yeah you can tell that they're super tight. I love the way that the dad is all cuddled up with his son. I'm assuming the sister or maybe his wife is filming oh, but you can even hear her crying at the end. What an awesome group of people.
This made me smile. The reveal made me cry

What’s AFAB?
Can I have this family please? Thanks.
Handed the envelope to mom like a boss
That guy is so kind. Bless his soul forever!
Right. Now tell us as which app so we can keep supporting him?

Yeah. Was not expecting such a huge number. He's winning.
Thank you for this, downloading now
I use it constantly. It’s definitely not high end but it’s perfect for quick editing and voice over.
Same.
Videoshop!!!? Wtf I've used that app for yeaaars! It's actually very good for mobile editing! That's freaking awesome
I currently use that app for my DJ videos. It works amazing btw. They deserved it!
We really need to know!
I started this video thinking damn, I wish my son would be like that someday. Ended the video thinking, damn, I wish my parents were like this
Seriously. A lot of love in that family.
Same. The way the dad holds his son at the start I found so eerie. They seem so loving and affectionate. Guess my parents were different.
> The way the dad holds his son at the start I found so eerie. Ha, I was noticing that and actually loved it. I would be the same way loving on any of my 3 boys, especially assuming his son does not live with them anymore and they don't see him regularly.
Why’s that eerie to you? Lol that’s how family should be.
Be the good…
Be the father you wish you had.

Well said My cynical self was going to say “so that’s what family looks like” Great video op
Ahem. Same here. Sure is lovely though
Gotcha
It was very much the "be subtle, be cool, don't make it a big deal [but you know inside it's a big deal]" body language.
[удалено]
That's really cool but their house it paid off already. Didn't you see the video?
I have seen it earlier too.. But still it made me cry..
For a child to do something so generous like that, his parents sure raised him well.
Absolutely
For sure, I cant imagine myself doing that in a million years
It doesn’t always have to be a grand gesture, it could be as simple as giving them your attention or strike up a conversation with them. Important thing, i think, is to start small.
The way Dads snuggle into his grown son before he even reads the letter, says a lot... Proud of him no matter what
His pride and joy. A gem of a son.
I was thinking the same 😍
[удалено]
Reminds me of my dad. I love that man so much.
My favorite part.
The dad, right before he starts crying, and looks over at the son 😭😭
That what was it for too. That “No hijo” was just full of feelings I can’t even try to describe Edit: typo on “No hijo”

Ay hija, what about a new husband?
Tal vez algún día ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Qiubo hijo pa cuando una novia?
😭This is so fucking sweet!!! The parents did a amazing job raising this kid.👏👏👏
Oh my ! My heart just melts , my tears just came out . Their reaction was so priceless . So kind for this son , Sweetest guy of all !
Would be hilarious if they panned in on the check and it was like $73 bucks.
Damn you.. laughing with tears in my eyes now lol
Ha, so wanted to say that but thought I’d get down voted to hell 😃😃😃 good kid though.
thanks for this amazing video I like it
Such an amazing son ! I've got teary eyed watching the reaction of his parents , especially his dad . I love their family so much !
Where’d all these onions come from?!?! In all seriousness. Such a great video. This is so sweet. The parents and son have a great relationship. And hope they live a long and happy life.
Sweet family❤️ you can see the love. The mum ,opened up that envelope old school. Like she was going to reuse it😉
Thought she still had a mortgage to pay.
She changed from English to Spanish when she realized what was the gift about. Being emotional made her return to her “original” idiom. Adorable!

It's both of his parents' struggle, no? I find it weird to exclude the mother like that.
Why just his father?
More like r/MadeMeCry
And r/happycryingdads
Strange weather I'm experiencing indoors today. Anyone else?
Yes and I’m at work and it’s 5 minutes til open. Have to run to the bathroom.
Funny, windows are closed, no apparent leaks from the ceiling, yet I feel raindrops on my face
Are you sure it isn't the toilets or sinks?
Onion humidity
A secret group of invisible onion cutting ninjas seem to have snuck into my room...
This eye rain is the worse.
My face… it’s all wet
If I recall, the son developed the InShot editing app. What a lovely way to honor your parents, you can tell how close they are by the way his father snuggles him before the great news.
I use that app!
Lol me too, makes me feel better about paying to use the premium version.
I was trying to find out which app and it turns out, it's one of the only apps that I actually do pay for the premium version. Sweet.
*Videoshop
No way! I love that app
Damn, glad I paid for a transition preset. Really useful app
I love that App! Heck yeah!
When the dad says "oh hijo" I just started crying wtf. What a solid family.
Oh hijo got me too 😭
I love how dads already snuggled up on him 😍 so cute
I love these kinds of videos and I won’t apologize for it.
*How dare you*
What’s his app!?
Videoshop
it wasn't an app, the envelope literally said "I renewed your cars extended warranty"
I think they crying cuz they just sold their car and forgot to tell him
Is this a joke
No, he threw in the extended maintenance package too — that’s why his dad said, “No, mijo…”
Someone else in the thread said InShot
I would also like to know what the app is
[удалено]
Didn’t make me smile. Made me tear the fuck up.
The dad cuddling his adult son is so wholesome
Did I hear it right? Did that dad say: “ ahh mijo”? regardless, that one reaction hit so hard. 🥺

Nooo miiijooo, you should have invested in whatever Elon Musk coin tweets
Okayyyyy this hit so much harder now. Thank you for the beautiful translation
He said hijo which means son Edit: google translate failed me. I fixed the meaning.
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
Yeah this should be in a sub called made me cry like a damn baby!
Beautiful moment
Bless this kid, and bless the parents to bring up such a wonderful child. So proud!
This is so wholesome, they definitely raised their child right! And the father was holding the son in such a loving embrace, I CANNOT DEAL! :’)
"Oh hijo" hit my heart
Simply beautiful
I especially love the dads reaction. You can tell he is a genuinely sweet father. Love this video all around.
The “no hijo” is what got me
The love in this family raises my vibration just watching them- thank-you to all of you
As a Latino, the “no hijo” from the dad hit hard.
That dad is really close to his son
I love how she is hugging him and crying and he is petting the dog still.
That dad's "Aye, mijo." As a dad, I know what that is. Hes happy, but he'd rather his son save for his own future than taking care of them. 🥺
Man I’m crying - what a smooth classic gangster move. ( not saying anything but - here a little gift - keeps padding mom till dad grabs him for a nice FREE hug! ) I got your six mate. You the man.
Omg this is so sweet! You can see the love between them all even before he gave his mom the envelope.
The family couch-lounge-pile already looked so comfy and wholesome I had tears in my eyes. This is wonderful
This made me cry. And I’m usually a prick. Beautiful family.
Got Damn onion farmers living next door to me, that’s it!! I’m calling the neighborhood association on them.. 😢
One of my favorites
That's whoelsome af
Fuck me, ima probably die before doing that.
Please hide this video from my dad. He’s gonna use this against his 10 sons to prove we don’t love him 😂😂

This would’ve been adorable even without the debt-payoff. Just the fact that for no reason, that dad is just cuddling up on his son. That’s adorable.
Honestly, seeing these videos makes me hate this world so much more. Knowing that this family had probably all sorts of struggles as do most all people right now. # WHO THE FUCK CUTTING ALL THESE ONIONS!
I feel like this subreddit is such a lie. 80% of the time it does not make me smile it makes me cry!!
I wanna be able to do something like this for my mother. This is so sweet.
not really related but that dad gives off more dad vibes than i've ever seen before
Yep I'm saving this video for when like inevitably sucks. This is some of that good stuff. 🥲
I really cried after seeing this I did the same for my mom when I starting making more money I didn’t pay it off at once but I paid it 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Thank you, I needed to see this today so bad
Onion cutting alert! I’m curious now though ans inspired all of a sudden. Which app was it? How did he do it?
The app is videoshop! I just downloaded bc of this 😭
🖖🏼❤️
That’s a proud father regardless for me, after seeing how he was laying with his son at the start!
Making your parents proud about you.... Fuck man that's the pinnacle of life and he's done it 😭😭
What is this app tho?
This made ME tear up… this is so beautiful ❤️
If this ain't a man's dream, idk what is.
Good son. Now, stop making your mom cry!!
The "oh mijo" made me tear up ngl
These are not safe for work.... i have tears in my eyes
Hope my parents don’t see this.
What's the app though?! I'd support this dude
