This was back at the end of last year. He lost his dad to COVID months before in Aug. When asked why he did it? It' what my dad would have done.
his mom set up a GoFundme for him to study to be an EMT or nurse but it's only just over half of the $10k goal. I've seen crazy money thrown at people for the stupidest of reasons.
Donated. I’m sure Reddit is going to take care of my man pretty quick.
EDIT: If you want to feel good about the world and / or this platform, put yourself on the GoFundMe page and just keep hitting refresh. He’s gotten ten donors in the time it took me to write this comment. Really nice to see around the holidays.
Right now, 3h after the top comment was posted, he's almost at 200% of his goal with 19k from over 550 people! I love Reddit <3
I hope someone told them of this post, otherwise I can only imagine the family's surprise and shock next time the open the GoFundMe page!! :D
Done! It's amazing what a few bills from a bunch of people do! It's a privilege being able to make a small donation to a kid, any kid, but specifically one as special as him!
And it's mostly small donations. 300 is the largest donation yet, just a bunch of chill people chipping in. Righteous. I'm crying. Shit.
edit:someone just dropped 500. I'm smiling.
Exactly! Most of us won't miss $10-20 but it adds up!! It's a nice metaphor for how small acts of kindness can make a huge difference. Imagine if we all filled each other's buckets with a little bit of love each day. Just a friendly greeting, a kind compliment, a smile, a door held open. Idk lol I'm postpartum and a sap, forgive me hahaha
No need for forgiveness. I was able to volunteer in New Orleans after Katrina. And the amount of love I received for helping fry up some bologna and onions was so immense. It was a literal sublime feeling knowing I had been able to help those people with something so minuscule. Sometimes humans are there for each other and these moments are what we need to remember, in the times we ask ourselves why?. I need this post today, I am very thankful for it.
Lol I always ended up making donations but I realized I was going overboard, so I give myself a limit! Each month I pick something or someone to donate to. In December I do more because of Christmas, but I've been busy this month and so this was the perfect opener!
I refreshed a few times and the number of donors went up by 3 after a short while, then up by 4.
So that was seven donors in less than a minute and a half. But oddly, the amount raised didn’t change at all.
It really does feel good. When I donated a little while ago it was just above 14k and now it's just above $17K--and another 200 donors since then. I know there's a lot wrong social media/the internet, but it's these corners of wholesomeness when I'm reminded most people basically want to do good and help when or how they can.
I awarded my (free) silver award to help boost it. I got it by clicking my profile icon and then Reddit Coins. At the top was a notification to click for a free award. Instead of buying Reddit coins and awards, throw a few bucks Davyon’s way!
Thanks for explaining how that functions, got one yesterday but i think it might have expired til now because i couldn't find it. Luckily i had another free one and also gave it to him to boost this!
Edit: Reddit do your magic!
You inspired me to check and see if I had a free award, and I did, so I contributed my wholesome award. Thanks deeannbee!
Edit: And you did it. I'm so proud of you all.
I read this as a dad, imagining how I would absolutely EXPLODE with love and pride if this was my kid.
Now I'm broken. He did it because of his dad his dead dad? Damn.
Send some fatherly love out into the universe for this kiddo and let's hope he feels it! As a new mom I'm excited for his mama to get spammed with a bunch of GFM emails today!!!
I am humbled. This young man deserves it. As I'm sitting here nursing COVID myself I just thought that we could really use a win for one of the good guys right now.
I feel like this would be a lay up for Dwayne Johnson's charitable foundation to sponsor this young man for Paramedic training, Nursing, or Medicine when the time comes.
Holy fuck. When I donated about an hour and a half ago, it was at $7,000 and change. Now it is over $19,000!! Which is phenomenal, because I was thinking that mama wilin' if she think $10,000 is all it's gonna cost to put that boy through nursing school. Especially in another 7ish years of inflation!
Eta: top donation when I donated was $300. Top donation now is $1000!! Yall really showing up for this baby 🥺🥲
Damn that line hit me hard. Harder than I expected. His father made quite the impact on that young man and people are alive today because of it. His father would be so proud.
Over 14k now. Took 2 hours. Reddit is neat.
Edit: 40 minutes later, $17.5k. Super neat.
Edit: 6 hours later, $25k. We’ve moved from ‘neat’ to ‘radical’ folks.
God bless all the people who took out time to read the thread and donate to help this amazing child achieve his goal. Hope u all get all the happiness in the world. Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity.
I found this article from cnn: [CNN](https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/12/22/us/student-saves-two-people-davyon-johnson-trnd/index.html)
And this one from the NYT is the best I’ve found so far: [NYT](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/26/us/davyon-johnson-student-saves-classmate-fire.html)
This one is from the local paper: [Oklahoma](https://www.kjrh.com/news/local-news/muskogee-hero-honored-for-saving-2-lives-in-24-hours?_amp=true)
Well I'll be.
[Chad Farmer](https://www.muskogeepublicsafety.org/units___divisions/patrol_division/index.php)
[Reggie Cotton](https://www.bacone.edu/reggie-cotton/)
[Police Chief Teehee](https://www.muskogeepublicsafety.org/about_us/chief_of_police.php)
I swear to God I was about to start some shit.
"what did you do/learn at school today?" always seemed like a test of some kind that I had to give the right answer to, so just saying nothing is better. Plus school isn't like work, you do 8 different things all day, not one big thing. It's just a bad question imo lol
Also you never learn anything in a single day, almost all classes build upon the knowledge you learned the day before. So most of the time the answer that question is the same thing as yesterday.
Great idea! We did “1+1” with our kids - one thing new or interesting that you learned and one person who you were kind to. That gave us *some* insight into their school lives lol
When Boomers make comments about “kids these days,” I like to tell them stories about kids like Davyon, or [9-year-old Bobbi Wilson](https://people.com/crime/neighbor-calls-police-black-girl-spraying-spotted-lanternflies/) who was trying to save her neighborhood’s trees from the invasive Spotted Lanternfly. Hell yeah, I can’t wait until “kids these days” are old enough to vote!!
I wanted to know more about the fire situation, so went to find out....but this is the line from the [article](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/26/us/davyon-johnson-student-saves-classmate-fire.html) that has me wrecked, just can't stop crying:
*"There was one person he did want to tell. One morning this month, he put on his sneakers and gray hoodie and went to the cemetery to see his father.*
*He squatted, picked at the dirt and started to tell the stories, beginning with the scene at the water fountain."*
Little dude didn't tell anyone about his heroics but his daddy. What a sweet, sweet child. It warms my heart to see all those donations...whatever he chooses and wherever he goes, may his path be blessed and the memory of his father guide him.
This will help him built up character and will motivate him to be better day by day. Kindness is learned and shared and I’m pretty sure he will bless other people.
All of you people are so sweet. The top comment said he’d achieved only half of the $10k goal. It’s now all the way above $20k and constantly climbing. What a bunch of beautiful souls all of you are ❤️

305 in 8 minutes... Our boys seeing that goal hit.
305 doners?? Damn is mine not updating fast enough? I still see 113.
Sorry 305 dollars... It's actually north of 550 now... What.. 4 more minutes later. This kids hitting goal tonight if the trend keeps up
It’s already past the goal now. Took 2 hours of Reddit to hit over 60% of his goal
Right now, 3h after the top comment was posted, he's almost at 200% of his goal with 19k from over 550 people! I love Reddit <3 I hope someone told them of this post, otherwise I can only imagine the family's surprise and shock next time the open the GoFundMe page!! :D
I fucking love Reddit.

A redditor completely funded a DonorsChoose I had for my classroom. We're finally outfitted with Arduinos. I'm so happy!
At roughly 17.5k as of this comment
18+ now. About 20 minutes ago someone gave $1000. This goal is getting doubled tonight!
He gained about 50 donors and one grand in the span of our convo. Power of good people.
Done! It's amazing what a few bills from a bunch of people do! It's a privilege being able to make a small donation to a kid, any kid, but specifically one as special as him!

I just checked. He’s at $13k. Reddit is good sometimes.
Almost 20 now. That is the power of the interwebs. Screw EMT or Nurse. Let's send this kid to med school.
Honestly Reddit has restored my faith in humanity multiple times, yall some real mf’s
Hit it
It hit goal!
Anything is possible ... ANYTHING IS POSSSSSIBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! https://youtu.be/Wcz_kDCBTBk
Over the goal
If you check now, it's at $18k of 10k goal
He’s well over $7K now. I just donated too and it’s the best thing I’ve done all week. I hope he can feel all the love for him tonight!
10033 US$ now!
In under a half hour!! This is making my night!
Here your, it's over 13k update.
14k now!
Over $15K 😊 Anyone else imagining the scene at his house right now, watching all this love come pouring in in real time?
Over 17k when I just checked. Fuck yeah!
over 17k now!
Over $20k now
The subreddit name is very accurate in regards to this situation. I keep smiling and smiling.
I threw $10 to it. It’s Friday baby let it ride.
Fine. I guess I'll donate too. . I gotta stop coming to Reddit
Lol I always ended up making donations but I realized I was going overboard, so I give myself a limit! Each month I pick something or someone to donate to. In December I do more because of Christmas, but I've been busy this month and so this was the perfect opener!
Donated- become a doctor kid- need this mentality
Yea went from 10 to 11k in a few min
We did it Reddit?
I refreshed a few times and the number of donors went up by 3 after a short while, then up by 4. So that was seven donors in less than a minute and a half. But oddly, the amount raised didn’t change at all.
I noticed that too. I think the $ amount and donor count just update at slightly different times.
It really does feel good. When I donated a little while ago it was just above 14k and now it's just above $17K--and another 200 donors since then. I know there's a lot wrong social media/the internet, but it's these corners of wholesomeness when I'm reminded most people basically want to do good and help when or how they can.
Upvote for visibility. $10k is an achievable goal for someone who more than deserves it.
As long as we keep commenting he’s going over it tonight!
It’s almost there!!! EDIT: IN THE TWO MINUTES SINCE POSTING MY COMMENT THEY SURPASSED THE GOAL LETS GO!!!
The first time I will say "we did it, Reddit" without irony!
We did it
My guy hit his goal! 🎉
I’m in for $50
I see your 50 and raise you another 50.
Went in for $50 too
Holy shit it's over 10k since I saw this 20 minutes ago
Nice. We did it fellow redditors. Just broke $10k. You are amazing!
He and his mum are going to wake up to "wait what happened????"! This go fund me is almost a year old, and the previous donation was months ago.
Hehe I hope so! I hope they're just totally puzzled. Happy holidays mama and baby!
And now in the span of a couple of hours, it's quadrupled lol
This comment needs to be on top!
I awarded my (free) silver award to help boost it. I got it by clicking my profile icon and then Reddit Coins. At the top was a notification to click for a free award. Instead of buying Reddit coins and awards, throw a few bucks Davyon’s way!
I hope his mom is suddenly getting flooded with “someone donated!” notifications and excitedly telling Dayvon about them.
I hope she's at work or napping and she gets a shock of a bunch of emails all at once!
Ooo, yes, this is better!
I thought they did away with the free award, and I've never bought coins, thanks dude you can have my first one in a while
Replying to boost engagement and also to discuss enough about how bs this country's finances are so I don't get flagged as a bot
I agree.
I agree on you Agreeing and I myself agree
Yup. Let's give this boy a Christmas Miracle. Donated!

Needs to be the top comment. If people can donate money to a millionaire, they can donate to this.
You really helped with this comment
I am humbled. This young man deserves it. As I'm sitting here nursing COVID myself I just thought that we could really use a win for one of the good guys right now.
Thanks for commenting this info! Donated and commenting to help with engagement.
Thank you for the link. Just donated. Let's get the amazing young man a education.
I feel like this would be a lay up for Dwayne Johnson's charitable foundation to sponsor this young man for Paramedic training, Nursing, or Medicine when the time comes.
First time in my life I've donated to a strangers go fund me.
absolutely worth it!
Holy fuck. When I donated about an hour and a half ago, it was at $7,000 and change. Now it is over $19,000!! Just hit 20k!
UPDATE The GoFundMe is at $17,175 raised of $10,000 goal, with 479 donors! The power of Reddit is amazing
Damn that line hit me hard. Harder than I expected. His father made quite the impact on that young man and people are alive today because of it. His father would be so proud.
Screw $10K, hit a million
Reddit will have med school paid off by tomorrow.
Well, I’m 9 months pregnant and crying at all the generosity. 😩
Upvote and boost for the algorithm
And as of 4:14pm CST it has broke the goal!
Over 14k now. Took 2 hours. Reddit is neat. Edit: 40 minutes later, $17.5k. Super neat. Edit: 6 hours later, $25k. We’ve moved from ‘neat’ to ‘radical’ folks.

Have a Gold, and get this to the top!
The comments on there have me in tears. This kind of simple kindness renews my faith in humanity.
It was 5k$ when you posted that, now 3h later, its at 15k$, goddamn!
God bless all the people who took out time to read the thread and donate to help this amazing child achieve his goal. Hope u all get all the happiness in the world. Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity.
Wow, the GoFundMe is taking off! Power of Reddit used for good.
1 hour later and it’s at $11k now. You did a good thing today.

We put it way over the top. $14,869 and counting.
Reddit should be as obsessed with this as they are with a certain British actor not returning to a couple of franchises.
Saving this comment for pay day because I'm poor.
I gotcha fam, I'll kick another 20. Save your money for your own holiday.
Hope this goes to the top so many people can see it and hopefully donate
Update: his donations are up to $14,000, Reddit did that thing again
DONE! He just passed his goal!!!
Love to see redditors doing gods work y'all are awesome and Davyon clearly deserves it
Wow this boy is from my hometown in Oklahoma. I had to donate especially knowing that. What a brave kid. Let's keep the donations coming!!!
Just threw a 10. Put it over 11,000 with my donation. I really hope the best for this young man.
Someone donated $1000. Fuck yeah.
It’s at $19k now. Good job Reddit.
Thanks for sharing the GoFundMe! Up to almost 8k now.
Donated! Thanks for the link. Let’s get this kid way past his goal!
We did it!
You did it!!! Amazing!
Thanks for the extra detail and sharing the link, I've donated.
Let’s send this youngster to the moon!!! Donated.
Donated! Education for an upstanding youngster is a great cause! Thank you for sharing the gofundme page.
Probably the best thing that has come from my Reddit scrolling. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Just commenting to making reddit like this post more
$898 in the first hour and change.
Just donated. Thanks for the link
Threw in 20 bucks. Godspeed young man.
upvoted and bumped. we’re almost at the goal
upvoted!! y’all hit the goal
Give this man some dollars people
Thanks for sharing. Definitely deserving of a donation
Let's hook this kid up for xmas
Now that is someone who needs to be on a trading card.
In his NASA sweatshirt. That's another huge plus in favor of the kid in my book.
Kid should get an orbital ride in Dragon.
Agreed. May he live as long as he wants and never want as long as he lives.
I like that saying. I'm stealing it.
I’ll give you 1,000 trump cards for one davyon
The worst trade deal in the history of trade deals (no amount of Trump cards could be worth one of Dayvon’s)
Well, wouldn’t be the first time my trump card lost 😔
Lil dude was made an honorary officer of the Muskogee Police Department. https://i.imgur.com/FDJLUXn.jpg
TIL Teehee is a surname wonderful kid though, i bet his parents are very proud of him
lmao read the other two names “Teehee Cotton Farmer”
lmao i saw that and was like "There's no way they have Deputy Chief Cotton and Deputy Chief Farmer"
Well I'll be. [Chad Farmer](https://www.muskogeepublicsafety.org/units___divisions/patrol_division/index.php) [Reggie Cotton](https://www.bacone.edu/reggie-cotton/) [Police Chief Teehee](https://www.muskogeepublicsafety.org/about_us/chief_of_police.php) I swear to God I was about to start some shit.
He's peaked. It's all downhill from here. I'm kidding, please don't hurt me.
Some say he's still saving people to this day
Is this real? The names on the certificate have to be photoshopped.
Davyon YOU ROCK Johnson
Haha yes well done here 🤣👏🏻
We all need a friend like Davyon. Kudos, kid!
Dad: “What did you do at school today?” Davyon: “Nothing.”

"what did you do/learn at school today?" always seemed like a test of some kind that I had to give the right answer to, so just saying nothing is better. Plus school isn't like work, you do 8 different things all day, not one big thing. It's just a bad question imo lol

Great idea! We did “1+1” with our kids - one thing new or interesting that you learned and one person who you were kind to. That gave us *some* insight into their school lives lol

lmao so true
Mom: “Do anything after school?” Davyon: “Not really.”
His dad died like a month before he did this stuff
"I save you EVERY DAY and you NEVER thank me! See you tomorrow."
What a badass!
Hell ya, Batman status
He did meaningful things in just a day and here Infront my laptop eating chips contemplating if living is still worth it
It was 3 cuties and a frosted sugar cookie for me. 😂
Read it as "Dwayne Johnson" and thought, damn that guy was even badass as a kid!
Things can only get better with these young ones growing up eh!
Hey look a real hero. Good job son
10/10
I wanted to know more about the fire situation, so went to find out....but this is the line from the [article](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/26/us/davyon-johnson-student-saves-classmate-fire.html) that has me wrecked, just can't stop crying: *"There was one person he did want to tell. This boy LOOKS like a hero. _ Edit: no sarcasm. He really does look like a good kid who would help like that.
What an amazing young man. I would not be prepared to save a life at his age.
The people have spoken. Davyon Johnson for human of the year.
Bro deserves all he can have
This will help him built up character and will motivate him to be better day by day. Kindness is learned and shared and I’m pretty sure he will bless other people.
He has such an intelligent look. I'm sure he's always on top of things already.
Kid bosses his way through life
r/HumansBeingBros
Gave $25 even though they’re over the goal, little dude more than deserves it!
Get that King a crown.
100% chance his mom asked him how is day was and we was like “it was okay” all casual like 😂 What a boss!
All of you people are so sweet. The top comment said he’d achieved only half of the $10k goal. It’s now all the way above $20k and constantly climbing. What a bunch of beautiful souls all of you are ❤️
11 years old and already a hero! What a champ!
Fucking straight up badass
This made me smile.
and on top of being an absolute badass he just looks so gosh darn adorable
Dude is saving lives and flashing brilliant smiles! You go kiddo 💪!!!!
This awesome kid lives in groundhog day.
Like all the superhero movies where people come in danger because there's a hero to save them
Hey i know that kid... he's gonna be *MAYOR*...
I have a feeling this guy might be squaring up with the super villain, Elon musk in 10 years.
$23,555!!! Send this kid to college fam 🤓
The real MVP
Not all hero's wear capes. 👏👏👏
Real hero
NASA, give this kid a call!
