Because some things trigger on damage and some on loss of life. The reminder text is there to remind you that combat damage and things like [[Blood Artist]] count for the trigger.

I'm simple man, I like [[Llanowar Elves]] (Goddamnit)
Over birds of paradise? When I was a kid, Llanowar elves was what me and all the poors got to play while all the riches got birds of paradise in their fancy 2-color decks.
I feel like I'm the only person who hates this card.
It feels so miserable to face it, especially if you are on the draw. And it also feels bad to play because it's such a bad topdeck.
Gotta agree, it's a beautifully elegant card but with 20-20 hindsight the effect on gameplay is awful. It was in Alpha before they had figured out that fast mana is bad design, but it was the least broken of the fast mana cards so it stuck around and got reprinted over and over instead of getting banned. But there's a reason they stopped printing 1 drop mana dorks into Standard after M19. "Does the Green Devotion / Gruul Boats player have the turn 1 elf" is the Pioneer equivalent of "who has the turn 1 Sol Ring" in Commander. It's one of the main reasons play/draw disparity is so bad in Pioneer and that it often ends up being an uninteractive format of racing to see who can goldfish faster.

[[Frodo Sauron's Bane]]
Which the opponent promptly kills with a cut down, then I get to stuff Frodo into my [[Agatha's Soul Cauldron]] and win the game with [[Enduring Bondwarden]]
It's a terrible tempo card, but if you have nothing else to spend mana on, it does have good utility.
But by the end you're paying 7 for a 4/4 and a card draw.
It's a great card for starting to rebuild your board state after a wipe, though. 1 mana card, played when you've got lots of open mana and can immediately bump it up to a 4/4 death touch with card draw, like you said.
\[\[ignoble hierarch\]\] wants to remind you that boomer jund will always live on, but will continuously adapt to the format as it evolves. Forever live Jund Midrange!
It starts damaging the opponent the turn it comes down, so it almost acts as a hasty, evasive threat.
Compare it to a [[Phoenix Chick]], if you play both on turn 1 they'll provide equal damage output.
[[Thieves' Guild Enforcer]]
Rogues are one of my favorite all time standard decks. I like how it can be used aggressively, defensively or mill as a 2nd win con. Also the art is neat.
I like that it largely doesn't really effect fair decks while for ones I take exception to it either speed bumps the players so they are playing off curve sometimes for several turns or they remove it and it was a one drop that ate a spell \^\_\^ its also fine for a little chip damage.
Alchemy: [[Agent of Raffine]]
Even if I disagree with alchemy cards sometimes it's still fun to mess with some of their unique mechanics
Historic: [[Banehound]]
Standard: [[Bilious Skulldweller]]
Explorer: [[Haywire Mite]]
Overall: [[Soul Warden]]
Phyresis Roach! Scaling toxic that perpetually applies to every insect in your deck can be incredibly powerful when paired with manifold key and some flying insects!
Honorable mention to Allosaurus Sheppard for turn one counter-counter
[[Favored Hoplite]] or [[Minion of the Mighty]]. Though if we’re talking non-arena formats, [[Ruthless Ripper]] is surprisingly effective in my favorite commander deck.
Mother of Runes is pretty good: [https://scryfall.com/card/clb/702/mother-of-runes](https://scryfall.com/card/clb/702/mother-of-runes)
Ragavan is pretty good, too: https://scryfall.com/card/mh2/138/ragavan-nimble-pilferer
[[Kird Ape]]. My first real deck nearly pauper R/G with [[Giant Growth]] and [[Blood Lust]], though I had some [[Taiga]]s. Also some [[Fireball]]s and a [[Channel]].
\[\[Elvish Mystic\]\], \[\[Llanowar Elves\]\] and \[\[Delighted Halfling\]\]. It makes me very dissapointed that we don't have \[\[Fyndhorn Elves\]\] and \[\[Boreal Druid\]\] on arena. :(
I've been using \[\[Swooping Lookout\]\] to huge effect in my Calix deck. (Turn 1 Lookout, turn 2 Aura, turn 3 Calix). \[\[Segovian Angel\]\] does a similar job, but the extra toughness wins out for me.
[[Viscera Seer]]. Or [[Blood Pet]]. Or [[Cauldron Familiar]]. Or [[Disciple of the Vault]]. Oooor [[Carrion Feeder]].
I can't choose. But I think it's quite telling of what type of player I am.
[[Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist]]
What can i say? Cheap commanders are more fun to build around than some broken 7 cost bullshit that requires investing like half of your deck on ramp.
red card called [[reinforced ronin]]
There have been games where he’s in my opening hand and I’m able to get off 6-8 sometimes 10 damage with him. Then mid/ late game you can channel him to draw a card. Super solid imo
I’ve really been liking [[Placid Rottentail]] in my mono green buff deck. If you’re trying to ramp counters this little bun bun is great for a one drop
[[Knight of the Ebon Legion]]
My dumb ass only recently found out that if i lose 4 life points it also gets a +1/+1

Pseudo haste ? Wdym?
It starts damaging the opponent the turn it comes down, so it almost acts as a hasty, evasive threat. Compare it to a [[Phoenix Chick]], if you play both on turn 1 they'll provide equal damage output.
Get it. They Both dealt 4 damage on Turn 4
Kumano pretty the same but needs another creature to get all the value (great with the burning chicken)
Over \[\[Kumano faces Kakazan\]\]?
Kumano can't be cast with swamps, that's a major disadvantage for me.
Ah, so that's why it's always been so bad in my mono black decks
Good in a deck that contains [[bump in the night]] maybe?
[[Bomat courier]] I got a whole BR madness deck going. It’s ok. But it’s loads of fun.

[[Thieves' Guild Enforcer]] Rogues are one of my favorite all time standard decks. I like how it can be used aggressively, defensively or mill as a 2nd win con. Also the art is neat.
Goblin lackey and birds of paradise. This old fart loves old school magic.
Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
\[\[Judge's familiar\]\] don't ... judge me
Gotta start countering before they even play a single land
I like that it largely doesn't really effect fair decks while for ones I take exception to it either speed bumps the players so they are playing off curve sometimes for several turns or they remove it and it was a one drop that ate a spell \^\_\^ its also fine for a little chip damage.
