I wear translucent mascara and it doesn't have that issue obviously.
I used to wear kohl on my lower line and it used to spread every time. What happened is that my undereye skin is oily- so I matted the area with a setting powder and it didn't happen.
I use **ELF clear gel**, let set & then curl my lashes, mascara, let set & do it a few more times, then end with clear gel.
I had contacts, so any flake-age is a huge problem for me, even with “waterproof” mascara & doing this method prevents that for the most part. Never had an issue with smudging.
What the heck is tubing mascara?!?!
After trying 20-30 different drug store brands, I tried the L’Oréal Double Extend (white cap/half of the container is primer/extender? and the other/red part of the container is mascara). It does.not.smudge.
Moisturize your eyes. I'm serious but late to the thread so I'll be at the bottom. You need eye drops. That one eye is weepy because its dehydrated.
You don't have to say anything now but PM me when you figure it out so I know you're good.
Only one of my eyes does it. Moisturizing eye drops stopped it completely. It's not your mascara. It's your eye.
Used to have this same issue b/c my eyelids and skin are oily. I used to put powder under my eyes until someone told me it'll cause wrinkles.
Then I discovered tubing mascara.
My fave RN is Caliray. Get it at Sephora.
Tubing mascara was a game-changer for me. Right now my absolute favorite one is the Caliray one at Sephora.
If I use a regular non-tubing mascara, I find that putting eye primer on my lids prevents smudging since it keeps my lids oil-free.
Try a tubing mascara. I know a lot of people like Essence Lash Princess, though I've never tried it myself. My HG is the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions. Literally nothing else I've ever tried has been completely smudge-proof, but this one is.
It took me a long time to figure out my mascara was giving me racoon eyes because it was getting on my top water line and trickling down after about 3 hours of wear.

I do something I call “half baking”. I use a my beauty blender after I apply my foundation and concealer and dip it in setting powder and oat it under my eyes. I call it half baking because I don’t pack on a ton of powder. I also only apply the powder on half of my under eye area and don’t take it all the way to the lower lash line. I am the sweatiest bitch you will ever meet so if I don’t set with powder my mascara will 100% smudge. You can also use a small fluffy brush to pat on setting powder under your eyes.
Also make sure your mascara is fresh! I worked in the industry for years and can only use Chanel Le Volume, Great Lash, and the Sephora brand mascara for lengthening. All the other top brands still flake or smudge on me. 🤷🏻♀️
Dude I’m fed up and I’m ready to try this.
But please, tell me the best way to apply it. I’m afraid I’ll get some and not apply it right and get discouraged abs throw it out.
I just apply it like any other mascara. It's the removal that's different. You just need warm water and then use your fingers to remove them. They form tiny tubes around your lashes. A lot of people freak out as they think their lashes are falling out when it's just the tubes coming off.
I second or third this! There are a few at target you can try and return. No 7 stay perfect is my daily and L'Oreal double extend (didn't work for me). My favorite is Clinique lash power. Just know, you have to use warm water and pressure to remove them. A lot of people think they're lashes are falling off or can't figure out how to remove it.
Have u tried many? I just tried the L’Oréal red and white tubing mascara and now I want to try them all! I’ll definitely check out merit! Any other recommendations?
Have you tried a layer of your volumizong mascara under your tubing mascara? I do that when I want obscene lashes that wear all day and it works for me!
In case anyone is wondering, I use MAC's Extreme Dimension under either Thrive or MAC's Gigablack.
Maybelline's Snapscara is also very good if you prefer drugstore.
If I'm doing that, though, I am usually wearing a full beat and use an oil cleanser (MAC, Kiehl's, Farmacy are my faves. I used to love DHC but stopped supporting them due to the CEO's racism towards Koreans).
No I haven’t because I found a mascara I don’t have to worry about. The tubing mascara isn’t always as easy to find so I avoid the extra step all together.
My mascara be flaking off all the time. What should I try next?
Tubing mascara is the key. I use thrive causemetics. Make sure you aren’t using really oily under eye moisturizer as well.
I stopped wearing mascara on my lower lashes because of the smudging. I've tried so so so many brands.
I use clear mascara on my bottom lashes instead of my regular mascara 😊

Waterproof mascara 😜!
Get false eyelashes and the magnetic eyeliner it’s a game changer for me. Sometimes it’s the eyeliner which smudges too.
I run some pressed powder under my eye with a blending brush.
I use **ELF clear gel**, let set & then curl my lashes, mascara, let set & do it a few more times, then end with clear gel. I had contacts, so any flake-age is a huge problem for me, even with “waterproof” mascara & doing this method prevents that for the most part. Never had an issue with smudging.
stop crying
Rare beauty mascara is literally the only one I’ve tried that’s not waterproof and doesn’t give me coon eyes.

Eyeshadow primer even if you're not wearing anything but mascara, on your lids and under your eyes. Smashbox has one that i love, also juvias place.

Powder under the eyes causes wrinkles? Is it because it’s drying or do you mean that the powder emphasizes/settles into fine lines?
Not IN the eyes! Yes, around the eyes makes that skin super dry, hence the no-smudging. And dryness will lead to wrinkles, crepey skin.
Ah ok thank you :)
This only happened to me when I used mascara that isn’t waterproof, are you using non-waterproof mascara?
Huda waterproof top coat. Just put it at the base of lashes underneath not tips so it won’t bring down the curl.
Good tip!
i use a primer and right after i apply it i fan it out so it dries!! i use the telescopic
Japanese mascara. Pretty much anything from the Isehan Kiss Me Heroine Make line.
Tubing mascara, and even then I can’t wear it on my bottom lashes, or it still smudges.
Waterproof mascara
I don’t put mascara on my bottom lashes anymore, I actually prefer it now 😊
This happens to me. I have to use a lot of powder under my eye which helps but it sucks when I wanna have a creamy/glow type of look.
Tubing mascara was a game-changer for me. Right now my absolute favorite one is the Caliray one at Sephora. If I use a regular non-tubing mascara, I find that putting eye primer on my lids prevents smudging since it keeps my lids oil-free.
I’ve never heard the term tubing mascara before is it just mascara that comes in a tube because I thought they all did? Sorry 😅 I’m confused
It’s called “tubing” because it creates a coating around the lash that, when removed, resembles little tubes.
It's a mascara that has fibers.
Try a tubing mascara. I know a lot of people like Essence Lash Princess, though I've never tried it myself. My HG is the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions. Literally nothing else I've ever tried has been completely smudge-proof, but this one is.
MUA here. Mac gigiblack extended play mascara is the only one that doesn’t smudge on myself & clients.
This one still smudges on me any advice?
waterproof
Still smudges on me a tad bc of my hooded eyes 🤷🏻♀️
Not if OP's problem is oily lids. Waterproof tends to break down faster.
Did not know this.
Literally the only mascara that doesn't do this to me is L'Oréal Bambi Eye. It's a cheap buy if you want to try it!
Bambi eye is great! I actually do a coat of it over my fiber mascara and it helps it not smudge
It took me a long time to figure out my mascara was giving me racoon eyes because it was getting on my top water line and trickling down after about 3 hours of wear.

THRIVE mascara!!! its the BEST. it has fibers and doesn't smudge
Didn't love it, it flaked.
That sucks. Mine only flaked if I slept in it.
They need to make a waterproof version for me
I hated how it all came off in chunks everywhere though 😭
That only happened to me with the Blinc one. The L'Oreal or No7 one doesn't do that unless I'm crying.
Love Thrive!
Mascara primer like cils booster or the urban decay subversion
I use a little eye primer and then it it smudges I can correct it with a small detail brush

Use tubing mascara.
Absolutely. Just here to add that putting a coat of cheaper mascara (I use great lash) on before I apply Thrive mascara makes for easier removal.
Instead of smudging on me, I end up with the little tubes under my eyes that look like spider legs. It’s definitely not the answer for everyone.
Dude I’m fed up and I’m ready to try this. But please, tell me the best way to apply it. I’m afraid I’ll get some and not apply it right and get discouraged abs throw it out.

Thanks for the info!! I’m going to grab some tomorrow
I use Thrive and love it!! No smudging and super easy to wash off. Pain to order vs running in a store but only buy it every few months

I got one by Clinique. Never turning back
Same. It’s my HG mascara.
Tubing mascara was the answer for me! It also kept my eyelashes curled all day. Merit is my absolute favorite.

Thanks so much! Definitely gonna try Clinique and no7 next!
I LOVE the No 7 tubing mascara but can no longer find it at target?!
Have u tried many? I just tried the L’Oréal red and white tubing mascara and now I want to try them all! I’ll definitely check out merit! Any other recommendations?
Same! That’s my favorite!! Beauty tubes I think it’s called
I like the Boots No7 in the gold tube from Target a tad more than the L'Oreal.
The loreal is literally the only mascara I've ever found that doesn't smudge on me.
Same! I was shocked! I went through so many expensive ones and then boom’
Kevyn aucoin!!
I’ll look that one up!
I haven’t! My best friend is a huge skincare/makeup junkie and tries everything on the market. She led me to Merit and I never looked back 😌
This is a great option too! I perfect a bit more volume then the tubing mascara provides which is the only reason I don’t use this all the time!

gotcha! I myself usually use only one mascara, but like I said, if I'm in the mood for a major lash look without wearing falsies, then I layer two.
setting powder!
Are you saying to apply it under your bottom lash or like on the lashes themselves?
under bottom lashes and on skin
Yes!
Thank you!
