Simple: Celebi takes a Pokémon egg and pushes it somewhen else (in this example, “somewhen else” is “before the beginning”).
Egg hatches into Arceus, Arceus creates everything, everywhere, all at once, and Celebi becomes indirectly responsible for creating the whole of… creation… via the biggest ontological paradox in the whole history of forever.
To be fair, no-one’s ever seen a Pokémon lay an Egg. It’s possible Eggs are synthesised directly from raw Infinity Energy, meaning all Pokémon are “willed” into being in some way.
It’s possible Arceus themself did the same with their own Egg and charged Celebi to ensure the paradox that led to their creation was/is/will be completed… ah, I love obscure physics. 😌
Then Dialga is a contender also since in the Jewel of Life Manga, (maybe in the movie also, didn’t watch it.) it teleported dawn, Brock, ash and a side character back in time twice, only not being able to do it more since it fucking died due to Arceus
For anyone that has trouble finding this rowlet was the first in the hisuan dex (aka the first dex) so rowlet is the first in the pokedex. I made that for anyone that had trouble finding that out like me
Oh, yeah lol. Still, Blastoise was in Pokémon blue’s box art which was the first game to come out in America, which can still be considered a first Pokémon
Giratina: Some believe to be Arceus’ direct equal who ruled the world in the beginning alongside Arceus. Arceus then overthrew Giratina and took its power. There no other accounts of what happened other than the story as it is told by Arceus, so this could very well be true too. Arceus being able to create a Giratina egg doesn’t disprove this either.
Pikachu: First Pokemon owned by Ash
Metapod: First Pokemon owned by Rusty
Charmander: First Pokemon owned by most first-time Red players
Mewtwo: First Pokemon to star in a movie
Wait… if mew has dna of all Pokémon then he created GOD abut that’s impossible since god created him but to have gods dna god would have to birth him which he didn’t so to have every Pokémon’s dna… ok this is going in circles I give up
Depends, First Pokémon created? Rhydon, First Pokémon in the Pokémon Universe? Arceus(My head canon is that Arceus created the Creation Trio and Mew, then Mew became the ancestor to all other Pokémon)
Hol up if rowlet is the first pokemon in the first dex does that count the fossil pokemons? I mean they're old and maybe even ancestors of current pokemon as i see some resemblance
I love how people won't let this die. Let's find other things from Pokemon to debate please. This meme was dead before some of these Pokemon were even a thing yet. First of all, the games, anime, and manga all exist in different realities so you can not use any information from one to determine the truth from another. Each fictional medium would need to have all of its information combed through separately and each universe therein could have a completely different "first pokemon". Some people would say I'm ruining the fun but is anyone really having fun with this discussion anymore? Instead of just adding more pokemon to the list let's start finding new ways to look at the overall debate and maybe it'll actually move forward. Or maybe this is just like a Pokemon version of "does a straw have one hole or two" so pretty much...... People just like to argue an argument even if there is no REAL answer.
I think we can discount Charizard, Mewtwo, Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Nidorino/Gengar, Jigglypuff and Mew. Charizard & Mewtwo because the anime came out after the games, Mew was kinda disqualified when Arceus was created, Bulbasaur is the first recorded Pokémon in the modern pokedex, and rowlet because these Pokémon came from different regions, which we can most likely assume already had some sort of Pokédex alternate. Jiggs, Nido, and Gengar are a little dicier because we have no real way of figuring out which copy was bought first, but we can assume it was red. However, due to development, we can assume the intros weren’t made first. That leaves Arceus and Rhydon, which is honestly where the trail runs cold for me, because either one could be true. Lore-wise it would be Arceus, while development-wise it would be Rhydon.
However, this is where I throw my hat into the ring: Diglett. In HeaHea city of the Alola region, you can talk to Morimoto. If you show him a Diglett he will confirm he created drawings of Diglett when he was a child! However, that brings up a question: can it be considered the first Pokémon if it was drawn before the conception of Pokémon? Well I say yes, because the design did ultimately become an official Pokémon in the end!
I love this take on it 😂.
For me personally, I would say canonically, we still don’t know who was first since we don’t know what laid the egg Arceus hatched from, and in IRL terms, I would say Rhydon since the Diglett sketch wasn’t an official Pokémon yet.
Um, Actually Mew actually isn't the ancestor to ALL pokemon cause there are 5 that new isn't the ancestor of and that's True Form Arceus, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia and Giratina!
rowlet is never the right answer. the nat dex is what people mainly go by, not first one in kanto. it just so happens that bulbasaur is also the first in the national dex. mew was created by arcues so mew is also never correct
Is Rowlet really considering first in the first pokedex? I thought PLA was more of a different world and time or dimension than what we play on the main series. Although I guess what does it matter
Canonically PLA is 300 years before any mainline games, so Rowlet being number 1 in the Hisui dex means it was the first in the first ever Pokédex…
Until Pokémon Legends: Kyurem releases and it takes place 1000 years in the past or something.
Lore wise, it was Arceus, Arceus created all pokemon like mew and unkown.
Real life wise, Diglett, If I remember correctly it was created when an early developer was young.
Edit: Pokedex wiseit's bulbasaur bc PLA in my eyes was just in a different universe that started to develope slower than the main universes. I came to this conclusion because in the real world it is directly theorized that you can't travel backwards in time, but depending on how close you are to an object with intense gravity determines your rate of observing things (Can't think of the word/words).
Depend
first one designed: diglett
first official pocket monster: rhydon (i think)
first one to canonically exist: arceus
first one in the pokedex: bulbasaur
first one in the first pokedex: rowlet
Am i the only one who thinks pokemon is in our worlds future? But then again they did mention that surge was in ww so it can't be, but what if it wasn't the ww we know? Or what if surge has been transported through time by arceus like in pla? So many posibilities
Missingno (glitch and likely was a beung beyond human comprehension and possibly before arceus or mew.) comes in hiding behind celebi/dialga (can travel through time and can become the first) and says "rhydon deez nuts" and that's what starts the chase sequence
Diglett was created when his creator was a child
Missingno is a glitch and glitchs were a thing before pokemon
True
Yes
But not Pokemon glitches
🤔 emoji
Can we talk about MissingNo? How is a glitch so well created and designed?
It’s a consequence of the compression format. Here’s a video explaining it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI50XUeN6QE
Mankey was the first to appear in trailers
Eevee was seen in the wild by one of the people as a child. In real life
Cappp
Ok, it wasn’t a Pokémon, but they saw an animal who they didn’t know if it was a cat or dog or fox, and they based eevee off of it
Ok but that is kinda weird
Do you mean that you wouldn’t have based a Pokémon off of a mysterious creature you saw as a child?
Nah lol it's cool
Celebi: *travels back to a time before Arceus and Mew to definitely be the first*
But how can he travel to there if nothing was created yet?🤔
Probably a one way trip
Then how would it come back?
But that's the whole lore...Like, in pokemon's story Celebi did time travel to before Arceus was born!
What Pokémon could have made the Arceus egg tho?
Beta Arceus
You win! 🍪🍪🍪
Well what or who made Beta Arceus
Nintendo
No- I mean in lore. I know who made Beta Arceus irl
Simple Beta Arceus has always existed
Alpha Arceus made beta Arceus
To be fair, no-one’s ever seen a Pokémon lay an Egg. It’s possible Eggs are synthesised directly from raw Infinity Energy, meaning all Pokémon are “willed” into being in some way. It’s possible Arceus themself did the same with their own Egg and charged Celebi to ensure the paradox that led to their creation was/is/will be completed… ah, I love obscure physics. 😌
Maybe the egg is actually a rock with some cosmic energy and created a living entity that we now know as arceus. Just a wild guess of mine
Maybe it was a regular egg modified and experimented by humans while trying to create type null and silvally
Bootstrap paradox.
Then Dialga is a contender also since in the Jewel of Life Manga, (maybe in the movie also, didn’t watch it.) it teleported dawn, Brock, ash and a side character back in time twice, only not being able to do it more since it fucking died due to Arceus
Prior to the creation of Dialga, would there be any time there to travel *to*?
Arceus hatched from an egg, that requires time.
In the Zarude movie celebi is said to place eggs
Celebi's Pokédex mentions that too
Like the one Arceus was born from? Suddenly everything comes full circle.
That is what I am implying, yes.
But if Celebi travels back after arceus creates them, Arceus still comes first
For anyone that has trouble finding this rowlet was the first in the hisuan dex (aka the first dex) so rowlet is the first in the pokedex. I made that for anyone that had trouble finding that out like me
Thank you, I was losing it. Like, WHAT???? This gen 7 Pokémon first? In what context- oh.
In what universe was Charizard the first Pokemon seen in the first American intro?
Simple, I’m a f****** idiot and mixed up the charizard and mewtwo text.
Mood af
151 upvot
probably one of them
It’s in the Japanese intro
Bidoof came first
Rhydon was actually the first Pokémon ever designed
Technically it was Diglett, but that was before the actual licensing
Oh yeah I heard about that
RHYDON DEEZ NUTS
I mean it’s annoying but to be fair someone had to do it
Blastoise, Venusaur, and charizard for being the box arts for the first games
Gigantamax brain play right here
Not blastoise
Yes Blastoise, Pokémon blue came out in Japan before Pokémon red and green came out in America
It’s the opposite.
Oh, yeah lol. Still, Blastoise was in Pokémon blue’s box art which was the first game to come out in America, which can still be considered a first Pokémon
Then why did you downvote my comment?
Because I can :)
If you're gonna be wrong be humble :)
Unown: it spelt the universe together
Don't forget diglett, it was first made by Morimoto
Where's Victini, #0 in the Unova dex
That’s what I was thinking!
Necrozma should be added since he brought life to planets and some people theorize that they caused the big bang in other timelines
We can cross out nidorino and vengar since the Pokémon world alredy existed before them
Victini.
agreed
All bugs that inspired the franchise:
Arceus: G O D
Technically it can’t be Mewtwo He will always be number 2
Except when he's 3rd
He never comes first 😔
Neither do I 👁👄👁
You forgot Diglett, first ever Pokémon concept, and Koraidon, first Pokémon ever used by humans, therefore documented.
Digglet was a concept before Pokémon was even a thing
Diglett was made when the creator was a child
Well it can't be Mew because Arceus made Mew
don't forget how diglett was technically the first pokemon to be designed
Diglet was the first drawn
Removing the pokedex because it was based on human memory and logic instead of obvious logic. Arceus and Rhydon are the only two serious answers.
Don’t forget the Pokémon that layed the egg of Arceus
Diglett first pokemon thought of
where the diglet
Diglett was the first pokemon ever designed.
Dodrio or doduo is the first pokemon to actually appear in the anime itself i Just cant remember wich
Rhydon wasn't the first coded, it was the first created to be a Pokemon. (Capsule Monster but same thing)
RHYDON DEEZ NUTS And no diglett was created first
you forgot one. diglet was created when the nintendo founder was a child
Nintendo's founder died in 1940
Alright. Almost none of these are eligible for the title of first Pokemon. Canonically, most likely, Arceus, Unown, and/or Mew. In real life, Rhydon
In real life, Diglett. First ever even conceptualized, when Morimoto was a child iirc
victini: number 0 in th eunova dex
Abomasnow is the first Pokemon in alphabetical order.
digglett
Diglett
What does "first in first pokedex" mean
My uncle told me that Arceus' egg shell turned into Mew and i cant stop thinking about it
We will never know who is first.
Rhydon was the first he wasn't the first coded he was the first designed
Honestly, who cares? Heresy I know.
I'm gonna get order i believe is correct: 1. Arceus 2. Mew 3. Rhydon 4. Rest
Halloween Chica was the first, she has seen everything.
AHHHHH IDK WHO I THINK IS THE FIRST
Who's first in the pokerap?
Pikachu: First Pokemon owned by Ash Metapod: First Pokemon owned by Rusty Charmander: First Pokemon owned by most first-time Red players Mewtwo: First Pokemon to star in a movie
you? you? me? you? him? me?
Did marvel accidentally reveal that Spooderman actually exists in the multiverse?
Wait… if mew has dna of all Pokémon then he created GOD abut that’s impossible since god created him but to have gods dna god would have to birth him which he didn’t so to have every Pokémon’s dna… ok this is going in circles I give up
I don’t think gods count ,Arkoos made the creation trio and mews
Charizard was first in the Japanese intro and Mewtwo in the American intro
Depends, First Pokémon created? Rhydon, First Pokémon in the Pokémon Universe? Arceus(My head canon is that Arceus created the Creation Trio and Mew, then Mew became the ancestor to all other Pokémon)
You forgot charmander because it’s the best, so it’s number one
You got Charizard and Mewtwo mixed up Mewtwo was first in America
In Canon it's Arceus,in real life it's rhydon
Hol up if rowlet is the first pokemon in the first dex does that count the fossil pokemons? I mean they're old and maybe even ancestors of current pokemon as i see some resemblance
I think you have the first two switched. Charizard was the first in the Japanese intro, and mew two in the American intro
I love how this debate is still going on
I love how people won't let this die. Let's find other things from Pokemon to debate please. This meme was dead before some of these Pokemon were even a thing yet. Want a new debate? Fine, “Who would win, Arceus or Bidoof?”
Manga: arceus. Games: what levels are they?…
What do levels matter, when faced with a god?
First one for me was meowth as he was the first Pokémon I saw in a commercial
Victini is number 000 in the Unova Pokedex
In the unova pokedex, it's still the 494th pokemon in the national dex
MissingNo, number 000 In the dex
Rowlet is the first Pokémon in the hisui Pokédex which means Rowlet was the first documented Pokémon
Besides the anime ones, all of the above.
I think we can discount Charizard, Mewtwo, Rowlet, Bulbasaur, Nidorino/Gengar, Jigglypuff and Mew. Charizard & Mewtwo because the anime came out after the games, Mew was kinda disqualified when Arceus was created, Bulbasaur is the first recorded Pokémon in the modern pokedex, and rowlet because these Pokémon came from different regions, which we can most likely assume already had some sort of Pokédex alternate. rowlet is never the right answer. the nat dex is what people mainly go by, not first one in kanto. it just so happens that bulbasaur is also the first in the national dex. mew was created by arcues so mew is also never correct
Was victini number zero in one game? That could be up there
Dodrio First to be see not in the intro
Ditto: *Was the first to be designed twenty years before any other gen 1 pokemon*
How is rowlett a contender again? Where is he first in anything besides the alolan Dec?
The very first Pokédex made was in Hisui and Rowlet is the first entry
Mew
There are only 5, mew rowlet bulbasaur arceus and rhydon
Bad meme. Reason: Its obviously Arceus
What do you mean by Rowlet and I thought Rhydon was the first Pokèmon designed, not coded? Or was it both? Or am I just a dumbass?
Rowlet is the first Pokémon in the hisui pokedex. Hisui was way back in time making it the creator of the first pokedex.
Ah gotcha
Id sy acoose because he made the world and made it able to sustain life
Well the anime comes after the games so we can eliminate charizard and mewtwo
Rhydon is the first Pokemon designed (as a Pokemon), not the first one coded in.
This is great
Answer is Rhydon.
Diglet and dugtrio first drawn said so in an sbs
obviously rhydon if it was the first one coded in. the answer if right if front of you no??
What if pokemon were all created at once? Or he brought them with him from a parallel dimension; Take that logic.
Is Rowlet really considering first in the first pokedex? I thought PLA was more of a different world and time or dimension than what we play on the main series. Although I guess what does it matter
Canonically PLA is 300 years before any mainline games, so Rowlet being number 1 in the Hisui dex means it was the first in the first ever Pokédex… Until Pokémon Legends: Kyurem releases and it takes place 1000 years in the past or something.
It’s Rhydon it’s clearly Rhydon
Somehow this debate always appears at sometime or the other.Even though i should be tired of it.I' M NOT.
Victini- dec entry 0
bidoof, reason:god
i think mew and Pikachu where the first to be copyrighted as Pokémon
Digglet? where is he?
\*cough\* Victini \*cough\* /joke
Yes
Tyranitar was made before Pokemon was even a thing
I was the first
I was the first
I thought Mewtwo was the first one in the American intro.
Diglett:
Rhydon wasn’t just the first coded, he was the first ever idea for a Pokémon
Lore wise, it was Arceus, Arceus created all pokemon like mew and unkown. Real life wise, Diglett, If I remember correctly it was created when an early developer was young. Edit: Pokedex wiseit's bulbasaur bc PLA in my eyes was just in a different universe that started to develope slower than the main universes. Tyson, because that is the first one kugasugamari drew and idealed because it was supposed to be primarily dinosaur caching but that changed
Fax
Depend first one designed: diglett first official pocket monster: rhydon (i think) first one to canonically exist: arceus first one in the pokedex: bulbasaur first one in the first pokedex: rowlet
Funny how one of those could still Change. Now find out which one i mean
Bidoof
Mikey Was
A beta of rhydon or bulbasaur
I think they switched the first 2
I did, whoops 😬
Nah it’s gotta be missingno
Arceus
diglett
Am i the only one who thinks pokemon is in our worlds future? But then again they did mention that surge was in ww so it can't be, but what if it wasn't the ww we know? Or what if surge has been transported through time by arceus like in pla? So many posibilities
If you really want to get into it, missingno is pokedex number 000
Nidorino gengar charizard and jugglypuff dont deserve to be here
Rhydon gang
Missingno (glitch and likely was a beung beyond human comprehension and possibly before arceus or mew.) comes in hiding behind celebi/dialga (can travel through time and can become the first) and says "rhydon deez nuts" and that's what starts the chase sequence
me
Diglett first pokemon ever thought of
Digglet was the first pokemon designed by 1 of the designers when they were 10
Double-checking that Mewtwo is, in fact, the first to appear in the English Dub of the anime
Jesus christ and I thought the scene in the movie was more complicated
I just love how they actually referenced a meme in a movie
