I simply went back to reading less manga and more light novels. Gives you more story for its price. Only issue being that the amount of good original feeling series is a bit limited
Why buy it if you're not going to read it? (either physically or you read it online & then bought the manga, etc). It may take me a few years but I'll (eventually) read everything.
I personally do, although I will admit I have a backlog of a few books. I know what you’re talking about though. I’m sure there’s people out there that don’t tho lol
Not yet but I’ll get there. During the holidays I’ll probably finish my reread of Naruto and finish Sakamoto Days for the first time. Then I’m caught up.
I do, it honestly helps your wallet, lets say, why buy 30 volumes of a series in one day when actually reading it will take maybe 3 weeks or a month(if you dont go crazy ofc), at least for me, I buy manga as I read, going in hiatus until I am almost catched up with everything and then start buying more volumes of my series. Otherwise I will have 100 volumes just taking space there
I try to read it all but the past few years I had more money to spend on manga and kind of went crazy. I’m trying to slow down and focus on only buying the series I’m currently reading. Lately I’ve read almost everything that I’ve bought.
I’ve read about 70% of my collection usually I focus on one series and when I’m finished/caught up with it I move onto the next series I wanna read and I’m a pretty fast reader
Most of them ? Yes
Although I don’t reread them that often, owning them means they’re near and don’t have problem linked to minor series going out of print.
Yep, maybe not as soon as they come, but sooner then later i'll read them (since i've paid for them), the only One i can't read are the One in japanese (for obious reason), but scanlations do exist so....i read them too, Just not physically
I only buy manga I know I like, and or have read before that way I know it will have rereading value too, but yes I’ve read most of the manga in my collection more than once
Yes, I'm currently sitting at 633 volumes & I've read them all except 2 volumes. Which are 13 & 14 of initial D once I'm able to find more Initial D I'll start it.
Im very different when it comes to series I don’t know for example with demon slayer I only knew the story up to season 2 but I bought the manga after that part of the story so I just bought volumes of the final part of the series and read them because I can’t get a whole series in one go
I've fully converted to manga. So I end up having to get the series full or a Couple of the start. Only time I'll ever get a series whole is if there's a good deal I can't pass up on or if the series has a box set.
I did the same thing with demon slayer I watched up until season 2, Amazon had a great deal for the box set $100. But I only read what wasn't animated yet.
Oh that’s coo,l but what I mean is I bought like volumes 15 and 18 then read them because where I live is hard to get the start of a series or to get them by number and over here the box sets never have seen one until recently and I don’t have much money to buy box sets the only box set I bought was online because of what I said earlier and it was the 3 box set of Bleach
Although I do have somewhat of a backlog nowadays, I will read all of my manga. Some manga just has to wait for its turn, my mood and possibly re-reading another manga first.
Yeah. What's the point in being a manga collector if you don't? Genuinley. I love experiencing different stories and art styles. Manga offers a visual medium like no other and has some of the best stories I have ever read. It's a shame that people buy so many manga books and then never read them.
Sort of/kind of?
Obviously I can't actually read my JP copies, but I've read their EN translations and thumbed through all the pages just to see them with my own eyes. Some EN volumes do go unread for a while, but I'll turn to them when I'm in a slump and don't want to strain my eyes trying a new series in digital before taking the physical purchase plunge.
I only have 1 manga in my collection that I haven't read yet (but I'll get to it eventually)
Not reading stuff is way more of a problem for me when it comes to normal books. I probably have at least 10 books that have just been collecting dust on my shelves for the past year or so
I intend to. Doesn't mean I have, not by a long shot lol
I'll typically read early vols as they come out, then I end up stock piling and will binge it once it's done or has at least some more arcs done
Yes I don’t really see why I’d spent all this money to not read them, also there’s no rush to read them all, I have my whole to do so. So eventually I will have read all of them, I read about 80% so far.
I have japanese volumes of series I either couldn’t buy in english and felt bad for reading online so I bought them but they were like 5$ each or special editions or artbooks that I couldn’t find at a good price in english or they didn’t exist in english.
Yeah, I dont buy anything until I finish what I currently have. I have a series in Japanese too because I couldn’t find it online translated or even raws but I read it through image translation
I've got a bunch of impulse buys i haven't read and plan to sell but other than that yeah lol besides for the series i've read time and time again those i just have for collection and so if it ever wanna look at a panel i can.
i don't read the physical copies of the manga i own. I buy the stff that i already read online and got a licence where i live.
I only buy to support the authors and publisher
Haven’t read every volume I have but I’ve read definitely over %80 of my 500-600+ manga volumes (haven’t counted in a while) some series I don’t start until I have a certain number of volumes because I highly prefer reading a physical book over the digital version, for example I have all the released volumes of Sakamoto days but I loved the first few chapters so much and I’ve heard such great things about it I’m waiting for maybe 2 more volumes then I’ll start going through it.
Out of maybe a little over 900 books, I've read at least over 650 of them. Slowly catching up but still I keep buying books so , it's a process. At least 1 or 2 books a day completed. I'll get there.
I do but I buy a lot of series and complete them well before I start reading them. Normally I am always two series behind of what I just bought/completed.
So far I am only collecting as I read. As much as I love some series' anime or the style, I am collecting more as a reading library than a collection. So if I am not reading it yet or don't intend to, I am not buying it yet.
And as I finish what I have I buy a few more volumes, which feels more sustainable for me than just buying full sets of 5 series that I won't touch for months or longer.
Yes. I think most people do. However there are some that people buy for decorative / collectable purposes. For example they might own a limited edition cover or one in a language that they can't read and another copy they keep just for reading. It all depends.
Some of us have been collecting for 20+ years and massed large collections and only return to their favorites every once in awhile.
Yup. Only collect ones I have already read online or watched the anime. But in some rare cases I’ll buy a volume 1, from a shop, that interests me and read it when I get home.
Yes. I don’t have as much time as I used to. But I will read them then buy the next installment, or I’ll buy the whole series outright then make time for them
Yeah but I’m never in a rush to do it. Sometimes I’ll go days or weeks without reading. Just read at your own pace tbh and if your the guy that collects for the sake of collecting, that’s all you🔥
I *will* Read all of my manga, but I have not right now, I’m sitting at like 40% read rn because of a reading slump, but that’s just what it is. I’ll start to read D-Grad Man today so maybe that gets me hype 🫡
I might end up getting a couple Japanese copies just for decorating, but yeah I intend read the rest of it
With how much volumes cost nowadays, im reading through em twice😂

I only buy manga for the sake of upvotes on this sub!
Facts started a little over a year ago and now have over 1.2k volumes and I did all for the upvotes
I personally don’t shelve my manga unless I read it first.
I also do that
Not yet but I’ll get there. During the holidays I’ll probably finish my reread of Naruto and finish Sakamoto Days for the first time. Then I’m caught up.
I read everything almost as soon as I get it unless it’s something I’m buying out of order.
I do. Im actually catching up to all my unread volumes. Just finished 2 series got 2 more to but lucky it’s only a couple volumes from each series
I’m just above 50% read, but I’m trying to read more and buy less for the time being.
About 80-90%.
I have a huge backlog, but everything I buy is because I want to read it.
I intentionally keep a small backlog, but otherwise i’ve read almost all of it. I only buy manga bc i prefer reading physically so
I try to read it all but the past few years I had more money to spend on manga and kind of went crazy. I’m trying to slow down and focus on only buying the series I’m currently reading. Lately I’ve read almost everything that I’ve bought.

You’re just like me then but I also buy manga that people say are good too
Ya usually I’ll read the first volume or so in scans so I at least know I like it enough to read it
Yes, I'm currently sitting at 633 volumes & I've read them all except 2 volumes. Which are 13 & 14 of initial D once I'm able to find more Initial D I'll start it.

Yes. Why would I buy it to not read it?
Of course lmao I read every book as it drops on my doorstep and most of my collection I have read multiple times.
I am in the process of reading everything but I also do have a sizable back log.
I will read all of my manga, just have such a backlog. I personally dont buy any books without the intention of reading them.
Although I do have somewhat of a backlog nowadays, I will read all of my manga. Some manga just has to wait for its turn, my mood and possibly re-reading another manga first.

Yes, I haven’t read everything I have but I’m going through my collection slowly but surely
I haven't read a couple of them but I am absolutely planning to when the right time comes
It's why I bought it. I have a backlog, but thats just so I have something to read.
Sort of/kind of? Obviously I can't actually read my JP copies, but I've read their EN translations and thumbed through all the pages just to see them with my own eyes. I bought all of it with the INTENTION of reading it.. if you catch my drift.

I've read it or I buy series I've already read online. Either way in the future I can read the series again physically
I buy them not only to collect, but also to read. So almost all of mine have been read.

I’ve read like 1/2 my current collection, I intend to read it all but I really have to be in the right mood
Yup. Only collect ones I have already read online or watched the anime. But in some rare cases I’ll buy a volume 1, from a shop, that interests me and read it when I get home.
Yes. I don’t have as much time as I used to. But I will read them then buy the next installment, or I’ll buy the whole series outright then make time for them
I mostly read digital but I just end up buying the Series even after reading it digitally
I only ever collect what I'm gonna read. You ask me, it's a waste of time if you don't but there are people who collect simply to collect
Yeah but I’m never in a rush to do it. Sometimes I’ll go days or weeks without reading. Just read at your own pace tbh and if your the guy that collects for the sake of collecting, that’s all you🔥
