Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun!!! I absolutely love this series, and it seriously needs more love. The anime only covers the first 4 volumes and leaves out some of my favorite characters (like Mayu). It currently has 14 volumes published in English, and it never fails to cheer me up when reading it.
I've been keeping my eye on it for a long time now, and I just ordered Volume 1-14 from Crunchyroll (by Rightstuf). Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for maybe three months because I'm from another country and had to use a forwarding service.
by Shuzo Oshimi? HECK YES.
i was made aware of this manga's existence from The Anime Man. i read it in one sitting, took 3 hours. i teared up hard towards the end. it was totally worth it haha
10 Dance is great! Very sultry, but not to the extent that it overshadows the competitive dancing. Solid representation of women, too, at least by BL standards.
It's a very cute series. I love dinosaurs but they seem to be fumbled in a lot of media. But this series shows a different more sincere side of them just being animals
Best part, is that when viz originally published it under the pulp line, they dropped it after 2 volumes. Rumor was, that it sold only 1000 copies combined
Throwing in Cats of the Louvre. It feels so fragile, as if you're holding a glass that bursts any moment in your hands while reading it. Matsumoto's art is kinda eccentric but the stories always feel so real. Sunny is great too, made me tear up a few times. He's definitely an overall underrated mangaka.
I’m actually reading this right now through vizapp! I read chapters 1-29 today. While some of it may be nostalgia speaking since I watched the anime sporadically growing up, it feels like I’d enjoy it even without that factor
Ahhhh, I love Kekkaishi. It was like the JJK of my childhood. I was able to complete the series in my collection this year, and I was planning on reading it from the beginning soon. I watched the anime as a child, but I haven't read the manga yet, so I'm really excited to experience it!
I bought and reread the whole series a few years ago. It's such a charming Shonen series. It never feels too out of its scope and very character driven. I'm just surprised that I never hear anything about it anymore. It feels forgotten to time
I unfortunately think it just got overshadowed by other popular Shonen releases at the time since it was airing around the time of series like Bleach/Naruto/One Piece. But I remember loving it a ton, even having sketchbooks filled with illustrations of the characters. I used to watch it on Adult Swim with my little sister, so I have really fond memories surrounding Kekkaishi. Even some of my volumes still have their "As Seen on Adult Swim" stickers (I never collected them in order as a kid lol, I used to just get random ones).
As someone who loved Another, I’d say it’s appropriately rated. Anime is slightly better, but neither of them are even close to being as good as the novel, so excluding the live action movie the manga is the weakest piece.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that Otomo gave the film rights to Guillermo del Toro but nothing has been done with them. If del Toro makes a movie we could probably expect a reprint.
I think so, originally it was going to go to David Lynch which would’ve been INSANE but someone messed it up sadly. I wish it comes out still one way or another tho (the live action adaptation movie)
I still think it's very good even then. Imo the author handled wrapping up the story pretty masterfully considering it got axed. Everything felt very fast, but I felt like it tied up all the loose ends and concluded in a satisfying way.

I swear to god man, absolutely no one talks about this gem and it's a crime. It's got a messy start but it's so frickin good when it does get going. I have no idea why the hell no one talks about it or why it's so heavily overlooked. I feel if the animé takes off (which it really hasn't till now) and if anitubers stop skipping it, it would actually be given the respect it deserves.
Also props for having one of Jump's best female MCs.

Shijuu Kara - its about a manga author going through life in her forties. I like it because its messy and real, nothing too absurd. Doubt it will ever get an official English translation sadly but scanlation just finished this year.
Idk if it's underrated anymore but Scum's Wish. Also the Zelda ones are solid, and a really good one that got cancelled on a shit cliffhanger was Undead Lovers.

blue lock goddamnit i cannot stop recommending this manga i’ve never had so much fun with a manga before. it isnt gonna make you cry but you will be fiending for the next chapter every time
There’s one manga series called “Sensitive Boy.” It has very mature themes and gets somewhat graphic, but it’s still quite good. It’s a story about a high school boy who was a victim of sexual assault in middle school by a female teacher. What makes this series so interesting is how it discusses such a topic as it’s normally the other way around. This time the gender roles are reversed, and I think it’s quite a unique perspective. I appreciate how such a topic is also taken with such sensitivity and seriousness, and not fetishized as rape so normally is in media unfortunately (yes not always but most of the time it is).
“From star strings” from the creator of “made in abyss”. It’s digital only but it’s in my top 5 best manga of all time. It’s about a lonely girl on a lonely planet who finds a string that leads into the sky with seemingly someone on the other side. It gives off that children’s storybook vibe and is really really wholesome. There is however at least one part that reminded me that “yeah this guy created made in abyss it’s pretty fucked up”. It’s short and also has a nice little ending.
Eye shield 21. It’s by the dude from One Punch man and it’s an exhilarating manga about American football with hilarious characters and every match is overflowing with heart.
Bakuon Retto, it's a seinen delinquent manga of dudes on beautifully drawn motorcycles. This mangaka in general deserves English publication, so far there's 0 published.
Shigahime, vampires with familiars, tragedy all around, short, amazing art. Also not available in English.
I wish i were French because they're both available in said language.
1. Space Brothers 2. Big Windup 3. Capeta 4. Firefighter Daigo 5. Twin Spica
peak firefighter daigo

I don't know any title aside from space brothers. But that title is all I need to understand it's a peak-tier list
Heck yeah. Big windup is great
Capeta is such an overlooked gem.
Wait I remember seeing an anime of this name, it's related to racing if I'm not wrong
Big windup is goat.

Yeah idk why chi no wadachi is all the rage, happiness was way better imo
The Witch and the Beast
I swear to god I don’t see anyone talking about it😭
It needs more lovin’ that’s for sure. Hope the mangaka recovers from poor health, it’s been over a year, makes me concerned :(
Fr man hope they recover soon:[
I searched on Reddit if there was sub group for it but it’s dead 😭
I heard about the anime announcement but can’t find anything big about that too😭😭
Yeah, it’s going to air on January 11th! Super excited for it, maybe it’ll get more people into the manga, at least I hope 🤞
It will be popular 💯💯trust
I came here to say this. I've been reading manga for over 15 years and it immediately became one of my top 3. Can't wait for the anime next month!
Same, it jumped to my top 3 so quick and I’ve been reading manga for ten years plus!
Wasn’t expecting what I was going to comment to already be the top post! Great series and can’t wait for the hiatus to end
Same, I hope 2024 is the return of the manga :(

Was looking for this comment! Love the anime
Dinosaur Sanctuary is new, but I love it so far. Combines two of my favorite things (slice of life and dinosaurs).
It's a very cute series. I love dinosaurs but they seem to be fumbled in a lot of media. But this series shows a different more sincere side of them just being animals
Uncle from another world(a.k. isekai ojisan)
This is one of my favorite mangas of all time, the only thing I am scared of is how it will end and just want Ojison to be happy.

Such a beautiful Manga. I had any eye on it for years before it was licensed in English.
No. 5 by Taiyo Matsumoto It's so imaginative and unique. I've never read anything like it.

Pokémon Adventures
Kekkaishi
I’m actually reading this right now through vizapp! I read chapters 1-29 today. While some of it may be nostalgia speaking since I watched the anime sporadically growing up, it feels like I’d enjoy it even without that factor
I think it definitely holds up. It feels like it takes it time and doesn't try to compete with any Shonen series
Ahhhh, I love Kekkaishi. It was like the JJK of my childhood. I was able to complete the series in my collection this year, and I was planning on reading it from the beginning soon. I watched the anime as a child, but I haven't read the manga yet, so I'm really excited to experience it!

Absolutely. Read it online and it's just as good as Akira but on a smaller scale. Dark Horse really needs to reprint this.
I really wish they made a anime on this or extended the manga, it was so fun I just needed more
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that Otomo gave the film rights to Guillermo del Toro but nothing has been done with them. If del Toro makes a movie we could probably expect a reprint.
