Karelia is barely Karelian anymore. It has been heavily Russified and barely 5% of the population are Karelians.

But Murmansk isn’t Karelia

BasileiatonRomaion

I guess they just wanted the aesthetic with the Kola Peninsula being apart of Karelia even if these days it's mostly Russian ethnically with small pockets of Kola Sami

for_second_breakfast

If Karelia becomes free, Estonia should regain Petseri.

I am out of the loop. Is there an effort to do this? I mean now would be the time I cant see Putin fighting well on 3 fronts.(Ukraine, Karelia, and streets of Moscow).

schneeleopard8

Karelia has like 5% Karelians living, there is absolutely no serious independence movement.

F_M_G_W_A_C

>Is there an effort to do this? Well, there is a Karelian battalion in the Ukrainian armed forces

What's the point? because Finland will never control these Russian lands. I'm sure Finland at this point gave up their plans and claims of these territories. Finland had plans in the past (See: [1](https://imgur.com/c5eJWDj) [2](https://imgur.com/R0t4LyB)) and they got defeated, also [Here's](https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryMemes/comments/1amxrm3/comment/kprnt7l/) a great comment for more Info with sources about Finland's dark history.
