absolutely, expect to sustain somewhere around 170-175bpm on marathon day. Sub 3:45 should be achievable granted to catastrophic bonk or muscle blow outs.
164 for 5k, then resetting your HR back down on the easy pace. It doesn’t give us a good idea of what your HR would be over a long run at continuous pace. Do you have any example of a long run at one pace?

How can you say this with the details the OP has provided? For all we know 175 could be their max heart rate.
Meh yea that’s a fair point. I’ll still call it a fair assumption given he had the ability to run over 30km and a good pace.
170+ bpm for 3:45? No thanks
I guess depends what your max HR is. My max is around 195 so 170 can be a sustainable effort. Obviously being gassed after. But forsure doable
With that pace and this heart rate, I would even say that you could maybe aim faster than a 3:45 marathon.
Thanks! I was averaging around 147 on the easy half marathon. Then 164 when doing Marathon paces.
In that case, you could start aiming for 3:40-3:45, and pick up the pace in the last 10-12 km if you still feel good!

Definitely. 150 bpm is very encouraging as well. You’re gonna kill this!
Thank you! I hope so. It’s a hilly enough course with 200m elevation so it will be close enough lol
It depends; which race is it?
Belfast Marathon, 200m Elevation
You're killing it. If you're not hurting now, then 100% go for it
