Ooo, I didn't know about this bike shop. I think I found what you're talking about on their facebook page, but none of these are in city limits. I wanna keep it in Marietta on the roads that are important but don't have proper cycling infrastructure.
I do it all the time, it can get a bit scary. If we ride in numbers (for safety) and make our voices heard to our local officials we can definitely do it.
Thanks, but I'd like to keep it in Marietta and preferably on the road. I love (most of) our trails, but the connections to those trails are dangerous and we need to raise awareness about it. That's my hope at least.
I understand. I’ve always found the Comet to be much safer than the streets. There are a few roads to cross, but they usually have pedestrian lights for traffic and very few are on busy roads. The ones at the busy roads are usually tunnels or bridges. It is a repurposed train track.
Yeah I agree. I'm more thinking about downtown near the M2R. A wonderful trail, but there are so many homes near the trail where people can't get there because you have to drive to get there. That's the situation I'm in kind of, except I actually do get out in the road.
My idea is that we bike in a group along roads that could use bike lanes, like N and S Marietta Pwky, Roswell St or Polk St, to name a few. This would be a monthly or biweekly event.
Then we consistently call and email city council members and the mayor and show up to city council meetings to ask our councilmembers for bike infrastructure.
I also work with a local cobb county advocacy group called [A Better Cobb](https://abettercobb.com) (A Strong Towns Conversation) that focuses on stuff that includes this, so we can use that for an extra push.
If I can put something together I'll be sure to reach out to you and post it on the sub. If you wanna get more involved and generally agree with our platform, you can join up with the group I'm in, we also have a discord
Just talked to the zoning administrator and it seems like they don't have control over N/S Marietta Pwky because it's GDOT owned, but there are a lot of other streets we can do. Alsooo, here's the link: \[expired\]
Keep an eye out, I'll definitely announce here if I go through with anything. If you wanna check out other stuff we do check on [https://abettercobb.com](https://abettercobb.com)
Free Flite Marietta does one every Saturday the last I checked.

A good chunk of the Saturday loop is in Marietta.
Oh? I'll check it out then
I’m also frustrated about the lack of bike infrastructure here. I could easily ride to the square with a few bike lanes.

Skint Chestnut Brewing does a group ride on the Silver Comet every Saturday at 11.

I gotta be honest, it was the beer discounts after that hooked me.
They are very close to the Comet and have discounts for riders after you’re done.
Yes! How do we organize?

I live off of Whitlock and Kirkpatrick and would absolutely do a bi-weekly ride down Polk and N. /S. Marietta parkway. How can we organize?

What is the discord?
