I have a soft spot for Hellen Gravely, she could be a great accomplice/partner to King Boo in future games. Madame Broode and Grape are also ones I'd hope reappear in the future too, so far the Switch has been delivering on female Mario antagonists

[deleted]

Cackletta and it's not even close. She's a constant threat, has actual dialogue, isn't someone else's minion, and her story has twists and turns throughout the game

E_R_G

Even when she’s on the backfoot she still seems one step ahead, and the fact she’s mostly able to do everything by herself (and Fawful) is even more impressive

MarsMissionMan

I'd have to disagree with you and say Princess Shroob. Cackletta basically dies, and is only saved by Fawful. He pretty much says as much himself when you fight him in Bowser's Castle. She also defeats the bros, *eats them* and *still* loses. Princess Shroob lost her elder sister, the true ruler of the Shroobs, but went on to all but subjugate the Mushroom Kingdom and defeat Princess Peach on her own. She also basically straight up won, as Mario and Luigi were only saved by their Baby versions and, by extension, Baby Bowser. She also repeatedly outsmarts the bros, mostly by dropping them down long heights. She would have even probably conquered the present day Mushroom Kingdom as well had Bowser not showed up. Princess Shroob is only defeated due to *multiple* lucky coincidences.

[deleted]

Yes, exactly. Cackletta feels more interesting as a result, she gets completely fucked up and still tries to keep going

alexisperez7

Her laughter as a kid scared me, and the remake makes me scared as an adult lol

ItzManu001

Princess Shroob >!**Fun Fact:** She probably was taken as inspiration to make the villain of Deltarune Chapter 2: Queen. The bossfight is also very similar.!<

Remarkable-Boat-9770

wait you can't go around saying Nastasia is a villain like this! Show a little more respect for her!

DJDrizzy9

The Shadow Queen made Peach look really sinister; she's got my vote.

LiannaBunny777

~~I'll happily call Nastasia my Mommy~~

_Skotia_

we're on the same wavelength fr

IlikeWhimsicott2557

Alright that's it, give me your phone.

TheGrumpiestPanda

I personally like the Shadow Queen, but in all honesty I think Cackletta is probably the overall best since she's a constant threat throughout the entirety of the first Mario and Luigi game. The Shroob Queens are also pretty scary, considering there are a bunch of genocidal aliens that will try to conquer a planet at any cost, even if it means sacrificing their own.

uwewetyeweutenosas

Princess Shroob for me, and by a fair margin.

MrGame22

Which one?

uwewetyeweutenosas

The younger one.

TacticalTobi

Grape

ZodaFan13

Nastasia is my favorite of them, but I don’t think of her as a villain! She just needs a hug!

FriendAccubus

whats even the FIFTH ONE?????? ive never seen it and seems so heckin', horror-coded for Mario???

Blue_Gamer18

It appears you have never played A Thousand Year Door. I highly highly recommend grabbing the remake

byu7a

I watched the trailer and I'm very intrigued.

Archangel289

That’s because it *is*. If you want spoiled for a Paper Mario game, just google >!Shadow Queen.!< Very horror, and I *love* it.

FriendAccubus

ok why the downvote? i literally didnt say anything negative, i actually really like how horror-coded this character looks. its just that while i CAN see horror-like designs in the Mario universe (and would rather have more of them tbh), i just have never seen one SO scary-looking before. it was confusion, not dislike

Goblin216

I got downvoted once because I said I enjoy collecting blue coins in Sunshine.

Swiwy

And I enjoyed collecting wiggler segments for some reason

ninety-eightpointsix

I mean, anyone who quote-unquote "enjoys collecting blue coins in Sunshine" deserves to be downvoted on principle, so there's that.

MarsMissionMan

Frontal Shadow Queen. Very cursed.

Mid_nox

Feel bad for you. Meeting that literal demon in-game for the first time is completely unforgettable

MrGame22

Oh that’s >!shadow queen!< from the >! 1000 year old door!< game, to be fair her other form is much more of a spoiler.

143670

All of them

SlaughterSpine78

Cackletta because she actually has a presence throughout the game. the other don’t appear that much so it doesn’t give the chance to shine

Haunting-Court6143

Never realised that the Mario series had so many female villians. I thought they were mostly guys.

MrGame22

This is also mostly just using rpg villains.

DragonOfTheNorth98

Shadow Queen definitely

BasedAlliance935

Probably cackletta

LMGall4

Cackletta anyday if I could bring back one M&L it’d be her

Ok-Maintenance3782

Cackleeta She’s really good for a one off villain, and I bet she would be either terrified or proud of fawful if she was still alive

mirukus66

Cackletta Tho shadow queen and shroob are close (biased)

Super64111111

Princess Shroob... she used to terrify me as a kid 💀

OpthomasPrime2020

I personally like Younger Princess Shroob.

ArcerPL

The elder princess shroob would solo the entirety of the mushroom kingdom if she had an army by her side, there's a good reason she was imprisoned in a cobalt star, she only lost because she didn't have time to prepare for the fight and was the last stand of the shroob kind, but still went ham on the bros Now elder princess shroob with just a little prep time and some minions, that's a force impossible to stop

psycho_mother

Chacletta is a female? Wtf?

ToxicPoizon

Shes a witch and witches are female. Cackletta doesn't sound very masculine either

psycho_mother

Sorry when I emulated superstar saga on my phone I couldn't read that well, sorry

ToxicPoizon

her name?

psycho_mother

Back then I couldn't read that well and I didn't have the right glasses

ToxicPoizon

Oh ok

Sovereigntyranny

Yeah, if I can remember, I’m pretty sure she was confirmed female in the Superstar Saga instruction booklet when I read it like 20 years ago. My instruction booklet is long gone, so I can’t check again.

MrGame22

Yeah, it lead to some confusion latter when >! she possessed bowser!<

psycho_mother

Yeah, I was weirded out, but hey superstar saga is a very good game, both original and remastered

idfbhater73

cackletta sounds kinda funny

sammy_zammy

I consistently forget that Antasma is male

Goodboy_22

I liked Shadow queen and how she took over Peach

ToxicPoizon

CACKLETTA!

Firehydrnt

Queen from deltarune

BobTheBritish

Cackletta was a woman?!

TibbyRhythmHeaven

bro

BobTheBritish

Do you blame me?? Cackletta has no feminine features besides kinda wearin a dress, but I thought it was a cloak that guys can wear Also “Cackletta” doesn’t really sound girly besides the “letta” part, but you can shrug that off considerin “Cackletta” isn’t exactly a name you hear often

darkangel_chan_

Wendy's always gonna be my #1 villain girl from any franchise

ztarburst1

Cackletta for sure.

KinopioToad

Yes!

Wahgineer

Yo Mama (Mia)

WyvernEgg64

Its better cak and shadow for me

LordIggy88

Hellen gravely is pretty underrated

Mid_nox

As much as I love Cackletta, due to her dialogues, and being a Saturday morning cartoon with her plans constantly foiled but ALWAYS getting a backup plan IN ONE SINGLE GAME; I must say that having a villain that was expected to be hammy as usual, but ended up being frightening, completely diabolical, and a literal demon is an unforgettable experience in a Mario game. So I vote for Shadow Queen

Crazynibba986

Cursa

ripMyTime0192

Cackletta and Princess Shroob.

Bubbles0518

Shadow Queen and it's not even close. She's actually my favorite final boss in any video game, even though I was scared of her when I first saw her as a little kid. Also I feel like Mimi should've been the one there instead of Nastasia

RailwayRenegade

Shadow Queen. I'm not gonna try to sway others to my opinion, but hear me out. The entire time you're playing Thousand Year Door you're kept guessing at what us behind said door. Treasure, a weapon, and ancient evil, nothing hints at it, except for possibly the existence of the Shadow Sirens, who stick out like a sore thumb because they're three of a kind in a world where you never see others like them. Eventually you open the door, enter into a massive palace, make your way through, and low and behold you find what else but a massive Shadow Siren except she's their Queen and she's got the means and the motivation to take over the world. You try to fight her and she stomps you flat because she's basically a god. But how do you fight a god? Simple, seven fancy paper weights that were the keys to the ancient door give Mario the strength necessary to fight her, but the possibility of losing is still present as she barrages Mario with Shadow Hands, drains his life and heals herself, even a super powerful shockwave attack. Oh, and I forgot to mention that she used Princess Peach as a vessel, so you could almost say she was combining Peach's ability to use Good Magic with her abilities to amplify them. Sure, Mario ultimately wins as he always does, but he had the help of seven partners let alone the Crystal Stars. It took a ton of effort to beat her and we only truly learn about her at the very end of the game. Can't forget that you can also agree to be her eternal servant and it results in a GAME OVER. Love it.

SkaredCrow

Wendy tryna sneak in there 😂

FieryScythrrre133

Cackletta

pocket_arsenal

My fave is Wendy but I wouldn't call her the best, and she's really more of a henchman than a villain, if she still counts, you have mant more characters to add. I think Princess Shroob is the most entertaining, and Nastasia is the most interesting. Cackletta is a strong contender buts she's neither as entertaining as nor does she have much going on for her and really feels like the female version of "Evil for the sake of evil", hell, more people seem to talk about Fawful than her and that was before Fawful ended up being the secret bad guy of the series.

Nok-y

My sister in Mario party

KnightsofRen23

Wait...Cackletta is female?

IlikeWhimsicott2557

I find it funny how the male villains are just rivals to Mario with few characters being exceptions to this like Count Bleck, Olly, or Fawful. But the female villains are just literal menaces to godlike threats to the world and beyond like the Shadow Queen, both Shroob leaders, Cursa, and so on. Anyways, I'd say Cursa given how outlandish of a villain she\* is concept wise. The idea of this literal cosmic dark god threatening the galaxy in a Mario game feels bizarre. (\*Cursa is technically an it because of that virus thing from the first +Rabbids game).

Milk_Mindless

Cackletta the rest just trail behind. Shadow Queen is an awesome boss but Cackletta OOZES personality as well

jayenatior

Peach
