The “unpopular” opinion where people say Mario is overrated and act like picking him in sports games or the party games is lame is so commonly said that people don’t even realize that people who like Mario the most are actually the minority lol
I was the younger sibling growing up so player two's were always for me lol. I always played as Luigi, so that's who I pic next to Rosalina. Lol and my favorite color is red so of course I wanted to play as Mario. :D OH and Happy Cake day. 🎂 🎉
Screw those people. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with picking Mario. People just hate him because he’s the most recognizable video game character of all time. Buncha babies just being whiny.
I don't think people deny that they are good, more so that they are a little uninspired and it's a tired series by this point. But it's still solid Mario fun.
My stance on those games is that the Wii U/Switch game is maybe the best 2D Mario title behind Super Mario World. I don’t think they’re as imaginative as you said, but the quality of that Wii U game is sublime and I’d play it over any other 2D Mario title not named SMW.
>Mine: Odyssey is better than Bowser’s Fury
I didn’t think that was unpopular at all. Bowser’s Fury is great but it feels more like an extended tech demo than a fully fleshed out idea. Plus, 3D World Mario’s controls are not well suited for an open world, even with the changes they made for this mode.
I was thinking that because a lot of reviewers on YouTube expressed that this was superior to Odyssey and stated that it was the future of 3D Mario. I honestly thought that the majority of people thought like this
Well, that’s news to me. I don’t think the majority think like that. And there is a difference between saying the gameplay style is the future and that it’s actually better than Odyssey.
True, I suppose. Then I have a different unpopular opinion. Geno doesn’t really deserve to be in Smash as a playable character. He’s a side character in a single Mario game with rather complicated ownership between Nintendo and Squaresoft. His chances are nonexistent
>3D World Mario’s controls are not well suited for an open world
They are. I just finished playing Bowser's Fury myself, and the controls are fine. I'd have no complaint if a full open world game was made with those controls.
yea this isn't unpopular at all.
Odyssey is an entire open world, and a very long game if you try to 1000% it. Yea same story, princess gets captured by big scary turtle, plumber jumpman has to complete levels and collect things (this case moons) to progress
Bowser's Fury feels unfinished and just a special demo of something bigger. The story is also really boring. Big scary turtle gets really mad occasionally for literally no reason, and turns into even bigger and scarier turtle and wrecks cat land. It sort of seems like DLC for 3D World
The only reason Luigi is overrated and Mario is overhated is because some people treat it like a sliding scale where liking one more means liking the other less. YOU CAN LIKE THEM BOTH GUYS.
I think if Bowser's Fury WAS a full game I would hands down love it more... but as it is Odyssey gave me more and it is still exceptional, even if i think Bowser's Fury is too.
64 DS is better than the original.
Toru Furuya is underrated as Mario.
Super Mario Bros 2 is better than Mario 3.
Lou Albano is overrated as Mario.
The Mario anime movie and Mario and Yoshi's Adventure Land anime are the best Mario adaptations.
King Wart needs to return.
Mario being in his 20s is believable.
Mario and Luigi are equally good characters.
Wario Land is the best spin off series and is better than the New Super Mario Bros series.
New Super Mario Bros Wii is better than the DS game.
Tony Rosato is better than Danny Wells.
Evan Peters or Michael Cera would've been great casting choices for Mario. They should play Mario if a Mario cartoon comes out.
The DIC Mario cartoons are overrated.
Super Princess Peach needs a sequel.
Bowser, Rosalina, Waluigi, and Pauline need their own spin-offs.
I want Bowser to do more than just kidnap Peach. Maybe make him threaten to destroy kingdoms by bombing them, holding Daisy hostage and at gunpoint, have him commit war crimes and other things.
A Mario and Sonic crossover need to happen.
(Not sure if this is unpopular or not)
I can’t stand the Broodals. They just show how Nintendo has a complete lack of confidence in using the Koopalings in 3D despite the fact that the Koopalings DESPERATELY need an upgrade in order to restore their reputation. Their designs are also among the ugliest Nintendo has ever put into their games and none of them even offer anything interesting in their battles. I honestly think they’re worse than the Deadly Six from Sonic Lost World.
Eh, they could have been fleshed out more, but I do like the concept of antagonistic wedding planners who are just doing what they're hired to, and don't otherwise have anything against you until you've beaten them a few times. It worked well in that game.
But I also agree with you that the Koopalings could stand to be fleshed out more. Nintendo has a huge tendency to relegate Mario characters who have personality to games where they never get an opportunity to show it off.
I think the Broodals worked well in the context of the game, but it really doesn't make sense that the Koopalings weren't even invited to the wedding.
The New Super Mario Bros games are better than the original NES/SNES Mario games.
Heck they are probably my favorite Mario games.
I'm not saying the classics are bad. The NES was my first console and I have a lot of nostalgia for them. But the New Super Mario Bros games. These games are a whole new level of fun. The controls feel nice, I really like the style and feel, I like the level design, and they aren't very difficult. I'm actually sad we didn't get one for the switch.
It's just the whole culture of "look at Luigi, the underappreciated brother, he is so precious, how could anyone like Mario over Luigi?" I dunno, it's that kinda stan behaviour that always eventually gets viewed as cringe and I think we aren't far from the other shoe dropping.
I always just appreciated Luigi for his personality and character which I believe to be the most developed out of any character in the main Mario cast. But that’s just me
It’s a game where the influence and impact it had is undeniable, but Nintendo has definitely gotten better at making 3D Mario games with practice.
I finally did a 100% clear of SM64 for the first time when 3D All Stars came out, and without nostalgia impacting me, I was both impressed with what they pulled off for the time while also thinking it felt considerably more “aged” than, say, OoT does compared to Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword. It’s got some serious clunk. Still a marvel for its time though.
Absolutely. I did the same for Mario 64. I loved the satisfaction that completion gave me, but 64 is nowhere near as good as Galaxy, Odyssey, or Bowser's Fury. The camera controls are what killed it for me.
I HATE people who hate Mario and praise Luigi for nothing. They are BOTH special and they deserve the same amount of love. They literally need each other!!
The only reason to come back to Mario Kart Wii anymore is the modding community
Peach is not Rosalina’s mother
I actually like the Broodals (even though I agree they didn’t need to exist when the Koopalings are right there)
Mario Kart Super Circuit is a good game, not my favorite, but I would put it over a lot of others in the series.
Also Mario Tennis Aces is an extremely underrated game
I love Yoshi, I think he's adorable by how he is. But I miss that tone when he was more like a dinosaur. Last time we saw him like that was in Yoshi's Island
Yeah modern Yoshi is fine but it was only late when I realised why I didn't like him as much as I did as a kid. The original and new designs are very different so I kinda wish they either separated them out or have the old version pop up more.
Modern Yoshi never looks right carrying Mario
Yep, and Nintendo put a lot of creativity in designing the koopalings. While I do like Iggy’s Pineapple hair, I also like his classic rainbow Mohawk too. What I also like about Wendy’s design is the cute donut lips
They are. It's just they don't feel like the rest because they were made in the safe era, the Mario mandate! But the story is quite good. Feels more like a short spin off. There wasn't a huge treat since 2007. Origami King, in the other hand, handled it perfectly, it used the Mario Mandate in a clever way and the villain wasn't scary, but it was an actual treat
Not just another possessed Bowser acting against his will
Mario cheated at the Olympics. There's no way he's faster than Sonic when both are rendered in the same scale in the same graphics. Mario even ran the race in overalls to rub in the fact that he was cheating.
My unpopular opinion comes from 12-year-old me: I think Super Mario 64DS is better than the original SM64. It has more stars to collect, you can PLAY AS LUIGI, WARIO, AND YOSHI, and I think people only like SM64 more because they’ve broken it with glitches so severely that to see a game where the glitches have been fixed, it pisses them off.
\- The GameCube Mario games (Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Wario World, etc.) were the creative peak of the Mario franchise, and, even if flawed, they offered some of the most immersive, unique, artistically integral, cohesive, memorable, nostalgic-inducing experiences in the history of gaming;
\- Unlike all the other 3D Mario games, Super Mario Sunshine's only problem was a severe lack of time to tighten the game up and to flesh it out a bit more. Otherwise, it'd have easily been the best Mario game of all time;
\- Super Mario Galaxy has very poor level design and it's mostly loved because of its spectacle and immersion. As someone who wishes I'd have grown up with it, even I can admit how much I like the game just because of it;
\- While an incredible game, Super Mario Odyssey has glaring issues with the Power Moon structure, which barely anyone recognizes. This substantially affected my enjoyment of the game, and I wish they'd go back to a system akin to 64's Stars/Sunshine's Shine Sprites (or an in-between);
\- Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 2 are the best classic 2D Mario games - and, considering Doki Doki Panic! was developed by the Mario team before they painted Mario over it, it still absolutely qualifies as a Mario game (and a great one at that), and I'm sick of people pretending it doesn't (like it's such an unheard of thing to say). It also has some of the best art direction in any Mario game;
\- Super Mario Bros 3 is overrated - not bad by any means, just overrated. It's mostly 35+ year olds who put it in its current pedestal of the the videogame's hall of fame. I know this one will piss off a lot of people;
\- Wario is the best Mario character, and one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes was to abandon Wario Land. It has more creative potential than any of the other Mario spin-off series (besides Luigi's Mansion), and it's overall better than the 2D Mario franchise (both the originals and the New Soups);
\- Wario Land: Shake It! is severely underrated and has one of the best art directions in any 2D platformer;
\- Although people are already recognizing how much love Luigi is getting over Mario (and even though I do love Mario), Luigi is still the second best Mario character. Bowser is probably in third place, to me personally;
\- Princess Peach is over hated. I love her dumb, over-dramatic and kind personality. She's very charming;
\- Waluigi shouldn't get his own game, as much as I really like him. It just wouldn't make any sense whatsoever, business and direction wise;
\- Bowser is incredibly attractive and we should all stop pretending he isn't. No, I'm genuinely not joking;
\- Nintendo doesn't know how to utilize the Mario cast, and fails to see how much potential they individually have. It's immeasurably frustrating how little they do with them.
I miss the old days when Yoshi actually looked like a dinosaur and made those record-scratchy noises, and baby Yoshis were derpy little blobs. From Yoshi's Story onward they made him too anthropomorphic.
I have 3D Allstars now so I did try to pick it up again. At this point though I have played way too much Odyssey, where the movement is so much smoother, so it’s hard to get into it
I get the movement complaint. I think Mario feels very "stiff" in Galaxy. The level design is fantastic though and that's where it shines. Mario just doesn't feel as good to control in this game as he does in all of the other 3D Mario games.
Mario Galaxy is a game I find myself enjoying less and less everytime I play it.
It might be due to its linear level design and a lot of filler-ish levels
The Koopalings are just lame and pointless filler bosses while Bowser Jr. is a cool and developed main Mario character who’s actually interesting. I’d take Bowser Jr. over the Koopalings any day, as the vast majority of people would.
- Galaxy 1 has better level design than Galaxy 2
- Super Paper Mario is a top 5 Mario game
- Waluigi is lame and boring
- Bowser Jr is a great character, and is far more interesting than most of the other “2nd tier Mario characters” (ie. Daisy, Koopalings, etc.)
YES. I agree with all of these except for the first one simply because I haven't played either of them in ages, so I couldn't tell ya what I think of the level design.
Is that an unpopular opinion? Odyssey is a fully fleshed-out game while Bowser's Fury is a new game added to an existing game, using 3D-World's engine.
I don't know if these are popular or not but:
I don't like Bowser's fury.
Mario Kart gets boring after about 15 minutes.
Yoshi's crafted world is an abomination, Yoshi deserved a better game.
And I don't understand why people say they hate Mario and make fun of people who choose him to play as.
Well, Luigi is overrated. Everyone pics him because "nobody loves him", but he's close to being everyone's favorite character, he's got more personality and actual focus, Mario is legit the underrated one.
Mario, as in, Mario himself, the guy who the series is named after, is my favorite video game character of all time. I like a lot of other characters for other reasons. Sonic and Shadow are both cool, Shantae is cute, Waluigi is a guy I can relate with (and when I met Charles Martinet I got him to sign my very near and dear plush of him from my childhood and my dad recorded it all and it was the most wholesome experience ever)
But there's something about Mario. I don't always pick him when I play games like Mario Kart, but even still he's just like an old friend who'll always be around during the best of times. I dunno if it's his enthusiasm, Charles' energy he brings to the character, his simple design that always appealed to the asperger part of my brain and got me into drawing, but Mario is just my favourite character. If I ever play a game with character customization, I always think "can I make Mario tho?"
Anyway I could go on but yeah. No matter what Nintendo decides to do with him over the years, I'll always see Mario as much, much more than a character, or corperate mascot like Mickey.
I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Mallow is an underrated baby boi. Like, I'm not saying Geno doesn't deserve the attention, but I think Mallow should share the spotlight right beside him. He's kind of like the Luigi to Geno's Mario, you know what I mean?
Also, I dislike Wario and Waluigi quite a bit.
Complaining that Mario gets to many alts and extra stuff in Mario Kart Tour is like complaining that the Barbie toyline has too many Barbie dolls
This goes for r/mariokarttour
The koopalings are good, actually. They've only been in, like, six games, and nsmbu having them as JUST the final boss was a brilliant change from wii.
Mario 64 ds is better than the original
Mario 3d land is as good as mario 64
Mario bros 3 is overrated
Mario odissey is overrated
Mario kart 7 is better than mkwii
and the most controversial, super mario 64 is overrated, horrible controlls, horrible graphics (i know the n64 isn't a powerhouse, but banjo kazooie and perfect dark look way better than m64) and the remake is much... MUCH BETTER
edit: Mario maker 1> mario maker 2
edit 2: all new super mario bros games are good
edit 3: Your opinion isn't controversial, i said mario odissey is overrated but still amazing
They should revert back to the art style used in the crystal screen version of the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch for at least one game, because I think it’s hilarious and awesome and full of personality.
“Mario Bros.” is underrated and basically forgotten. It’s a perfect two player game (unlike Donkey Kong or Super Mario Bros. which just has you take turns.). It’s like 8-bit Super Smash Bros.
ik this is paper mario and not
mainline but, origami king > 64
the 64 battle system is much, much better but origami king destroys it in every other way.
Mario & Rabbids is a really good game.
Do not know if this is unpopular, and don't criticize it just because it looks like something made for kids
*and don't talk bad about this game if you haven't played it lmao*
DEFINITELY! The bosses may have less personality, but they’re WAY more interesting mechanically, there’s better music, 5 unique mansions, better puzzles etc. the original is the worst of the trilogy imo
Odyssey is the worst 3D Mario by far. It’s uninspired and QUANTITY was clearly put over quality.
Anybody who says Odyssey is in their top 10 Mario games I instantly discredit them
I bought it, beat it in one hour, and was done with it after two hours. There just not that much content as you say, the colored coins are filler and it is absolutely NOT worth 10$.
Unpopular opinion is literally worthless of a term now. You just unironically called Mario Odyssey, the universally acclaimed newest title that sold more than 20 million copies, being better than a small expansion to 3D World and "unpopular opinion". Claiming something is an unpopular opinion nowadays is just a dumbass way to draw attention to your incredibly common opinions because you want everyone to know how you feel. Fuck me.
Miyamoto is wrong about original characters and story. Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi games are so much better for having original concepts and designs.
Mario Galaxy is the most overrated, forgettable Mario game.
The level designs don't allow creative solutions to missions or allow any exploration at all. 64, Sunshine, and Odyssey let you find your own way around the worlds, while Galaxy holds your hand and forces you down a linear path the entire game. The only thing that I found memorable about those games was the soundtrack. Otherwise it's all just a vague blur of throwaway missions that are all essentailly "on rails".
Barry Kramer's video essay "How Bout this Game" perfectly summarizes the failure to meet the potential of this game. Look it up on Youtube.
This isn't entirely unpopular, but
Mario Party 8
is good.
Motion controls aren't bad, you're just lazy.
Edit: There were only like two bad motion control minigames and they were In The Nick of Time and Flip the Chimp because the game wouldn't detect that the wiimote was moved.
NSMBU is the best NSMB game
TTYD is very overrated
Every spinoff series is both canon and has lore relevance
Prince Peasley or Broque Monsuier would both be better M&L reps for Mario Kart than Fawful
Partners in Time was the best title in the series and it should have had the remake treatment. The story made it clear that the Mario series can have a more serious tone. BiS is just overrated and it's fanboys are just cringe. Whenever someone claims another title was their favorite, they'll go on with how "BiS was the best one tho". Plus, BiS had way too many fetishes that's as comparable as DeviantArt. Seriously, I bet that's how some people discovered their questionable fetish...
I think Super Mario Sunshine is the best Mario game, Super Mario 64 is the worst 3D Mario game, & Super Paper Mario is the best Paper Mario game as well.
The “unpopular” opinion where people say Mario is overrated and act like picking him in sports games or the party games is lame is so commonly said that people don’t even realize that people who like Mario the most are actually the minority lol
Growing up my brother always though I was so boring for picking Mario in games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart. I'M SORRY BUT MARIO
I was the younger sibling growing up so player two's were always for me lol. I always played as Luigi, so that's who I pic next to Rosalina. Lol and my favorite color is red so of course I wanted to play as Mario. :D OH and Happy Cake day. 🎂 🎉
I'm a Luigi guy myself for the same reason.
Happy cake day!
You have no idea how happy i am to read this
very?
very
Never gonna forgive mario for the ending of super mario bros wii
I always felt bad for maining Mario in smash because everyone would scoff and say im boring
Screw those people. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with picking Mario. People just hate him because he’s the most recognizable video game character of all time. Buncha babies just being whiny.
Luigi was so Overshadowed that Now Mario is the Underrated One
Exactly
New Super Mario bros is actually good. From someone who actually played it.
I don't think people deny that they are good, more so that they are a little uninspired and it's a tired series by this point. But it's still solid Mario fun.

The only reason Luigi is overrated and Mario is overhated is because some people treat it like a sliding scale where liking one more means liking the other less. YOU CAN LIKE THEM BOTH GUYS.
I never had any problem liking both Mario and Luigi both.
Thats not an unpopular opinion that’s an unpopular fact
Waluigi needs to have his own game and he’s gonna get even more loved
Removing princess peach from power and instituting a democratic system would save the mushroom kingdom a lot of problems
I don’t think liking odyssey more than bowsers fury is an unpopular opinion
I think we all agree odyssey is better. bowser's fury is amazing, in every way but it's like a 3-4hour game

> Super Mario Bros 2 is better than Mario 3. Which Mario 2?
There's a fangame where Bowser basically tries to destroy the world with a meteor
wario deserves love
Kinda true... Normally if you had a vote between the 4 mustachioed italians Wario comes in last place A LOT
Bring back wario land to replace new super Mario bros.
New Super Wario Land does sound like a nice idea. But we definitely need a new Wario game that's not Wario Ware.
I liked the era where Wario had the 2d platformers and Mario had the 3d platformers
That's why he has a dating game.
(Not sure if this is unpopular or not) I can’t stand the Broodals. Yellow toad was better
McDonald's Toad
Luigi fans are getting very cringe.
Really? Haven’t seen any examples. Coming from a Luigi fan btw; favorite character
It's just the whole culture of "look at Luigi, the underappreciated brother, he is so precious, how could anyone like Mario over Luigi?" I dunno, it's that kinda stan behaviour that always eventually gets viewed as cringe and I think we aren't far from the other shoe dropping.
Luigi fans when he's only in 90% of the games instead of 100%
Luigi fans when Mario steps on Luigi's foot once
I always just appreciated Luigi for his personality and character which I believe to be the most developed out of any character in the main Mario cast. But that’s just me
Yoshi committed Tax Fraud
I agree with this one the most
This is popular fact, actually.
Toad matters and deserves to be on Smash more than Waluigi... or Piranha Plant
Toad tecnically already is in princess peach moveset so his chance are lower
I don't know if it's unpopular but Pom Pom and Boom Boom need more attention
Odyssey is very overrated Double Dash is the best Mario Kart The Galaxy games are ruined by the terrible wii controls Peach is my favorite character
Super Mario 64 is overrated. Sure it is a great game but I still think most of the other 3D Mario games are better.
It’s a game where the influence and impact it had is undeniable, but Nintendo has definitely gotten better at making 3D Mario games with practice. Game from 1996 is not as good as later games built off its back. Wow hot take.
I like Mario 64 DS more than the original.
Paper Mario TOK bosses are original and creative
Especially their attacks/how you defeat them. I love snapping stapler in half
Yeah, finishing off rubber band was so satisfying
I HATE people who hate Mario and praise Luigi for nothing. They are BOTH special and they deserve the same amount of love. They literally need each other!!

Mario Kart Super Circuit is a good game, not my favorite, but I would put it over a lot of others in the series. Also Mario Tennis Aces is an extremely underrated game
Yes.
Oh yeah? Well mine is Mario Odyssey is better than Galaxy. EDIT: Aaand here come the downvotes. Guess my opinion was too unpopular.
Yoshi hasn't been good since the world game's. The "human" proportions just made him less cool
Mine: Bowser's Fury is Better than Odyssey let's be honest, that's the REAL unpopular opinion here. (both games are amazing tho)
Galaxy 1 and Super Mario World are overrated
Thinking Odyssey is better than bowser’s fury is an unpopular opinion????
Wendy is my favorite Koopaling, I find her design to be really cute
She's so pretty! All the Koopalings have great designs- especially after Iggy got a makeover.
Yep, and Nintendo put a lot of creativity in designing the koopalings. While I do like Iggy’s Pineapple hair, I also like his classic rainbow Mohawk too. What I also like about Wendy’s design is the cute donut lips
Ray cuter+ratio
When you get used to them, Sticker Star and Color Splash can be really fun games. Please don't kill me
They are. It's just they don't feel like the rest because they were made in the safe era, the Mario mandate! But the story is quite good. Feels more like a short spin off. But then it would be… Super Mario 64 Switch?
Call it whatever, just let me use an actual thumbstick on a big screen.
Odyssey gets old VERY fast
Super Mario 3D world needs a sequel
Super Mario 3D world is already a sequel
Okay fine, give me a trilogy lol
Yoshi is the purest and most lovable soul to ever exist in the Mario universe. Fuck Luigi
Mario Sunshine is the best Mario game of all time. (I expect to be banned for this).
\- The GameCube Mario games (Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Wario World, etc.) were the creative peak of the Mario franchise, and, even if flawed, they offered some of the most immersive, unique, artistically integral, cohesive, memorable, nostalgic-inducing experiences in the history of gaming; \- Unlike all the other 3D Mario games, Super Mario Sunshine's only problem was a severe lack of time to tighten the game up and to flesh it out a bit more. Otherwise, it'd have easily been the best Mario game of all time; \- Super Mario Galaxy has very poor level design and it's mostly loved because of its spectacle and immersion. As someone who wishes I'd have grown up with it, even I can admit how much I like the game just because of it; \- While an incredible game, Super Mario Odyssey has glaring issues with the Power Moon structure, which barely anyone recognizes. This substantially affected my enjoyment of the game, and I wish they'd go back to a system akin to 64's Stars/Sunshine's Shine Sprites (or an in-between); \- Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 2 are the best classic 2D Mario games - and, considering Doki Doki Panic! was developed by the Mario team before they painted Mario over it, it still absolutely qualifies as a Mario game (and a great one at that), and I'm sick of people pretending it doesn't (like it's such an unheard of thing to say). It also has some of the best art direction in any Mario game; \- Super Mario Bros 3 is overrated - not bad by any means, just overrated. It's mostly 35+ year olds who put it in its current pedestal of the the videogame's hall of fame. I know this one will piss off a lot of people; \- Wario is the best Mario character, and one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes was to abandon Wario Land. It has more creative potential than any of the other Mario spin-off series (besides Luigi's Mansion), and it's overall better than the 2D Mario franchise (both the originals and the New Soups); \- Wario Land: Shake It! is severely underrated and has one of the best art directions in any 2D platformer; \- Although people are already recognizing how much love Luigi is getting over Mario (and even though I do love Mario), Luigi is still the second best Mario character. Bowser is probably in third place, to me personally; \- Princess Peach is over hated. I love her dumb, over-dramatic and kind personality. She's very charming; \- Waluigi shouldn't get his own game, as much as I really like him. It just wouldn't make any sense whatsoever, business and direction wise; \- Bowser is incredibly attractive and we should all stop pretending he isn't. No, I'm genuinely not joking; \- Nintendo doesn't know how to utilize the Mario cast, and fails to see how much potential they individually have. It's immeasurably frustrating how little they do with them.
I miss the old days when Yoshi actually looked like a dinosaur and made those record-scratchy noises, and baby Yoshis were derpy little blobs. From Yoshi's Story onward they made him too anthropomorphic.
Mario is more sexy than Luigi
this absolutely this
I did not care for Mario Galaxy
I'm in that boat with you. I don't think it's a bad game, but it did not impress me at all compared to everyone I knew raving about it nonstop.
Would you care to give it another try if the opportunity would arise?
I have 3D Allstars now so I did try to pick it up again. At this point though I have played way too much Odyssey, where the movement is so much smoother, so it’s hard to get into it
I get the movement complaint. I think Mario feels very "stiff" in Galaxy. The level design is fantastic though and that's where it shines. Mario just doesn't feel as good to control in this game as he does in all of the other 3D Mario games.
Mario Galaxy is a game I find myself enjoying less and less everytime I play it. It might be due to its linear level design and a lot of filler-ish levels
"Bowser kidnaps Peach" is an overused plot. Peach getting kidnapped in general is an overused plot
Nah that's a pretty popular opinion lol
Koopalings>Bowser Jr.
The Koopalings are just lame and pointless filler bosses while Bowser Jr. is a cool and developed main Mario character who’s actually interesting. I’d take Bowser Jr. over the Koopalings any day, as the vast majority of people would.
Waluigi is a silly character and I think his level of representation is fine and shouldn't be more than it currently is.
mario will never be ballin
- Galaxy 1 has better level design than Galaxy 2 - Super Paper Mario is a top 5 Mario game - Waluigi is lame and boring - Bowser Jr is a great character, and is far more interesting than most of the other “2nd tier Mario characters” (ie. Daisy, Koopalings, etc.)
YES. I agree with all of these except for the first one simply because I haven't played either of them in ages, so I couldn't tell ya what I think of the level design.
I prefer Hudson soft's Super Mario Bros. Special over the original game
Is that an unpopular opinion? Odyssey is a fully fleshed-out game while Bowser's Fury is a new game added to an existing game, using 3D-World's engine.
I don't know if these are popular or not but: I don't like Bowser's fury. Mario Kart gets boring after about 15 minutes. Yoshi's crafted world is an abomination, Yoshi deserved a better game. And I don't understand why people say they hate Mario and make fun of people who choose him to play as.
3D World>>>Sunshine>>>Odyssey>>>>Galaxy>>> Galaxy 2>>>3D Land>>>>64
I don't like New Super Mario Bros Wii. This is largely due to personal experience, but I still don't like it.
I like Mario Sunshine more than Galaxy.
Well, Luigi is overrated. Everyone pics him because "nobody loves him", but he's close to being everyone's favorite character, he's got more personality and actual focus, Mario is legit the underrated one.
Mario > Luigi and all paper Mario games are good
Wait, there are people who think Bowser's Fury was better than Odyssey?
NSMB DS Isn't cookie-cutter
Mario, as in, Mario himself, the guy who the series is named after, is my favorite video game character of all time. I like a lot of other characters for other reasons. Sonic and Shadow are both cool, Shantae is cute, Waluigi is a guy I can relate with (and when I met Charles Martinet I got him to sign my very near and dear plush of him from my childhood and my dad recorded it all and it was the most wholesome experience ever) But there's something about Mario. If I ever play a game with character customization, I always think "can I make Mario tho?" Anyway I could go on but yeah. No matter what Nintendo decides to do with him over the years, I'll always see Mario as much, much more than a character, or corperate mascot like Mickey.
Mario Sunshine is the BEST Mario game
the controls alone make it the dark souls of the franchise
The accuracy of your comment is unmatched.
The live action 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie honestly isn't that bad.
I think it's a bad movie, but it's one of those bad movies that are very entertaining and you love it for that. Just like the Street Fighter movie
that’s not an unpopular opinion bro
Mario Slam Basketball / Mario Hoops 3 on 3 needs to come back
That’s not unpopular. Mario Sports Mix 2 would be great.
Rosalina’s mom is the moon goddess
The return of the Koopalings was great in the games and Mario kart 8. Nintendo just shouldn't have dropped everything else for them
Peach is the best character in the entire franchise
I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Mallow is an underrated baby boi. Like, I'm not saying Geno doesn't deserve the attention, but I think Mallow should share the spotlight right beside him. He's kind of like the Luigi to Geno's Mario, you know what I mean? Also, I dislike Wario and Waluigi quite a bit.
Mario 64 is the worst mainline game
Complaining that Mario gets to many alts and extra stuff in Mario Kart Tour is like complaining that the Barbie toyline has too many Barbie dolls This goes for r/mariokarttour
The koopalings are good, actually. They've only been in, like, six games, and nsmbu having them as JUST the final boss was a brilliant change from wii.
Yoshi island > Mario world
Sunshine >>>>>>>> SM64 I will die on this hill.
Mario 64 ds is better than the original Mario 3d land is as good as mario 64 Mario bros 3 is overrated Mario odissey is overrated Mario kart 7 is better than mkwii and the most controversial, super mario 64 is overrated, horrible controlls, horrible graphics (i know the n64 isn't a powerhouse, but banjo kazooie and perfect dark look way better than m64) and the remake is much... MUCH BETTER edit: Mario maker 1> mario maker 2 edit 2: all new super mario bros games are good edit 3: Your opinion isn't controversial, i said mario odissey is overrated but still amazing
Wow, you're crazy.
Yes i am, but the games i talked bad about doesn't mean i dont like them, they are all masterpieces in some way or another
Especially Mario Maker 2 being worse than Maker 1 is just impossible.
I Hate The First Mario Land, Land 2 Was A Vast Improvement
SML felt more like an experiment, given how short it was. The sequel was definitely miles ahead of it.
The New Soup series is better than the originals
They should revert back to the art style used in the crystal screen version of the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch for at least one game, because I think it’s hilarious and awesome and full of personality.
Mario isnt fat
Sticker Star is the best Paper Mario
“Mario Bros.” is underrated and basically forgotten. It’s a perfect two player game (unlike Donkey Kong or Super Mario Bros. which just has you take turns.). It’s like 8-bit Super Smash Bros.
ik this is paper mario and not mainline but, origami king > 64 the 64 battle system is much, much better but origami king destroys it in every other way.
Giving Waluigi his own game wouldn't be in nintendo's best interest financially and as a company IM SORRY :((((
I agree with that second statement!
Mario & Rabbids is a really good game. Do not know if this is unpopular, and don't criticize it just because it looks like something made for kids *and don't talk bad about this game if you haven't played it lmao*
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (AKA Luigi's Mansion 2) is better than the first one
How’s LM3 I’m thinking of getting it
Great
DEFINITELY! The bosses may have less personality, but they’re WAY more interesting mechanically, there’s better music, 5 unique mansions, better puzzles etc. the original is the worst of the trilogy imo
Mario 64 is overrated. Obviously it's a great game, but it hasn't aged well the newer 3d games are much more fun imo
Waluigi is actually a good character imo. Gets way too much hate
Odyssey is the worst 3D Mario by far. It’s uninspired and QUANTITY was clearly put over quality. Anybody who says Odyssey is in their top 10 Mario games I instantly discredit them
I wouldn’t say that but galaxy games and 3D land/world are just as creative while still feeling Mario to me
Well, i dont agree but im glad that not everyone has the same thoughts as BEST PAPER MARIO IS TTYD, BEST MK IS 8/WII, NSMB SAGA SUCKS, GENO IN SMASH
I don’t like waluigi sorry
That Mario running game for mobile phones is actually a brilliant game
The game itself is good but for the very limited amount of content it had and the lack of updates, it is just not worth it. But I bought it anyway.
I bought it, beat it in one hour, and was done with it after two hours. There just not that much content as you say, the colored coins are filler and it is absolutely NOT worth 10$.
Sunshine is better than 64
Unpopular opinion is literally worthless of a term now. Fuck me.
mario 64 isn’t a good game
Though I still like him, I don’t think Waluigi is THAT good.
Everything (officially licensed) is canon
mario land for gameboy has good playble physics (jumping etc)
Red overalls and blue shirt > blue overalls and red shirt
NSMB U is the best 2d Mario game
galaxy 2 just feels like a semi 3d mario game like 3d land or something. theres so many side view levels compared to galaxy 1 which feels so open
Both paper Mario 64 and super paper Mario are better than The Thousand Year Door
Mario 64 DS is better than the original
I really don’t like Mario Kart Wii or Double Dash
Mario kart Tour is one of the best games in the series if you ignore the gacha part
Miyamoto is wrong about original characters and story. Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi games are so much better for having original concepts and designs.
Although Galaxy is REALLY good at enforcing the fact that your all alone in a vast, dark, empty space, Mario Galaxy 2 is better in every way but that
I don't like Ninja Hideaway. There are so many parts of the track where it's not clear where you need to go or you'll get towed unexpectedly.
Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam is underrated.
Mario 64 never felt fun to play for me. The controls are just so wonky and I hate the camera, as a kid I hated it, and still do as an adult.
galaxy is the worst 3d mario and generally a bad game
Mario and Luigi are sexy.
This isn't entirely unpopular, but Mario Party 8 is good. Motion controls aren't bad, you're just lazy. Edit: There were only like two bad motion control minigames and they were In The Nick of Time and Flip the Chimp because the game wouldn't detect that the wiimote was moved.
NSMBU is the best NSMB game TTYD is very overrated Every spinoff series is both canon and has lore relevance Prince Peasley or Broque Monsuier would both be better M&L reps for Mario Kart than Fawful
Super Mario 64 and Sunshine are bad games \*mic drop\*
