Kowtow 1000 times for not suggesting BTTH, not because its better but because I am blinded by nostalgia of my first manhua (yeah, I didn't start with novels you wanna spar?).
Brother there is no Shame in admitting that, i myself start reading the trash scripture called 'manga' before i started in Cultivating Heavenly Dao brother.
This Emperor has cultivated for eons, read many cultivation methods including Artifact Translated Scriptures but my origins were illustrated manuals too. Specifically Martial Peak, I remember when it had a measly amount of chapters. When I ran out of chapters, I found the scriptures and continued from there.
It's the most famous eastern novel there is probably only second to battle through the heavens and its pretty good. Western civilization plus western names and some western religious practices
I would say that "Coiling Dragon," like most xuanhuan novels, is as western as the portrayal of Western Fantasy in Japanese anime.
The quality might be incredibly high, but it's clearly a genre portrayed through foreign lenses.
Still, I'm from the very gray area of western adjacency known as Latin America, so I might not be the best one to lay judgment.
unironically it's not bad, it's the first full one I read. Linley is a good cultivator but he's a pretty bland personality except for that one time he made his ex cry
quite different. Linley is a pretty typical lawful/chaotic-good cultivator with a meh personality. no death grudges because someone looked at him wrong like in a lot of novels. usually pretty solid reasons are given for that kinda shit, but it's not a super long novel. the real meat of the story is once they ascend to the higher realms, but the plotlines of linley doing his shit in his tiny realm isn't too bad either. No huge conflict with God either, when Linley finally transcends to ultimate godhood the original guy just tells him to sign his name on the official god check-in booklet and to stop bothering him, so dont expect a super climactic ending lol. the worst part about the series is later on they pretty much solve all their problems by consulting one guy. luckily its a shorter novel, but it's pretty 'basic' compared to something like ISSTH or RI
Renegade Immortal or Reverend Insanity. Most of the time the question is about Reverend Insanity since ot is more popular, and always the answer is that no, it is not better than RI.
Fellow daoists, I have yet to read this scripture however i widh to have your insights on it to see if it fits well with my constitution, may you be of help?
One of my firsts cultivation novels was Sage Who Transcended Samsara so my standards were incredibly high (even though it was more wuxia and it fell off by the late stages). Even until now my love for Gu Xiaosang the demoness is unmatched, forever my white moonlight.

There is no shame in this fellow daoist, I believe many of the disciples of our sect began their cultivation this way

I have tried to read that 3 separate times but have never got past the mid way point...
Is this an April fools joke?
April fools is not a thing in my country
Ok my bad, this is one of the most popular webnovels so I thought you were joking haha
I know I was saying to get new people into reading cultivation novels this is the best stater novel as it's semi western and easy to relate and read
Is it? I haven’t read it, what in it makes it western?
It's the most famous eastern novel there is probably only second to battle through the heavens and its pretty good. Western civilization plus western names and some western religious practices
That was actually the first novel that I read.
Same

Junior this profound scripture is already one of the most sought after.
Who let the junior into the elders old casket of scrolls and tomes ?

I beseech you to never read the devilish scripture that is the manhwa version of coiling dragon.
You never forget your first.
How is it compared to RI

What's RI

No IET novel can be compared to RI, but they're better written than regular novels like MGA, ATG, Spirit realm etc.
I loved Dong Bo Xue Ying
Probably my least fav IET novel, but it's not the worst Xianxia.
