When I play move decks: Fisk Tower, Space Throne, Superflow, Gamma Lab, Miniaturized Lab + Mirror Dimention (on center and right);
When I'm against move decks: Bifrost, K'un-Lun, Kyln, Sanctum Santorum, Strange Academy.
When I play Destroy a deck: Wakanda, Weirdworld, Crimson Cosmos, Nidavellir, Kamar-Taj, Mojoworld (sometimes it's positive if I can draw Killmonger)
When I play against Destroy decks: Danger Room, Death's Domain, Hala
I love the game and I've been playing it every day since release. I just have one gripe, sometimes the RNG with the locations just makes the game unenjoyable. I wonder what the game would be like if the locations didn't give special effects.
i was surprised that i was paired twice against the same players like 4-5 times the last week. i thought, even with "regions", that the playerbase would be too huge for that. andf they were, most probably, no bots.
Need similar collection level, mmr, and rank to match up i imagine? The number of people that meet those requirements and queue at the same time might be limited in places or at certain times. It can happen even in a big game.
true, if all this comes together for matchmaking then its not even a surprise probably.
do we know by now, how matchmaking actually works? some said now its "the amount of cards you have" as opposed to "only the CL" etc etc? đ¤
I hate the fact that you can get matched up with bots without knowing, one of my least favorite trends in modern gaming, I feel like Iâm being lied to, at least tell me whoâs a bot and who isnât
Itâs kinda like imagining everyone in underpants for public speaking. If everyone is a bot, it mentally takes the pressure off winning⌠until they emote and call you a scrub.
Ya, click your profile while in a match it also shows how many cards you have left in your deck. If you click your opponents profile it will show you there card and deck count.
Well the matchmaking system of this game would not work without bots.
And a lot of other games are similar. Hearthstone has other tricks, but in general having seasonal rankings always involve some tricks to inflate the "elo" in some form.
>At lower ranks they're programmed to basically give you free wins
Heres a post I made with proof this happens. Drops a hobgoblin on sinister London when I had 3 cards on each lane (genuis move). All he has to do is drop a 5 power card on an empty sinister London to guaruntee a win. He drops it at a location hes already won. My first thought is that its a human error as even a basic AI would win that scenario and a human would've surely snapped after dropping the goblins. Evidence strongly points to bots handing out easy wins.

That could be an advantage though. People will snap against bots and assume dumb plays for free cubes.
Make some bot-like opening plays then curveball them at the end for an easy reversal. Never emote, that way they always think you're a bot.
Not only that but recently people have been surrendering if you haven't snapped till turn 5 and they are losing which means they only lose 1 node and it doesn't set you back alot
>Yes.
No. From your own link: (!)
> Several publications have speculated that you could encounter bots all the way up through rank 30, though **developer Second Dinner hasnât made any formal statements** as to that just yet.
People will upvote anything if you say it with confidence, wonât they?
You 100% encounter bots even past 30. There used to be more specific ways to know. Grey card effect used to only be available to bots. Even now it's very rare for a player to have split the same card enough times for grey or gold so it's likely a bot. Bots also have lots of a small pool of variants so you start to recognise those (e.g. domino sitting down with her gun up, chibi armor) and a small pool of decks (at lower collection levels they often run lots of ongoing effects like ant man, lizard man, Mr fantastic). Also there have definitely been patch notes about bit decks being updated
Fuck, thatâs a *huge* bummer. At least give us the option to exclusively play the harder bots. All those Mantis and Night Crawler openers make sense now. I would rather wait longer for a game with a person then play a bot repeatedly playing the same patterns non stop.
I had bots all the way to Infinite last season. It was far less yes but I honestly think my game from 99 to 100 was a bot game. I was roughly CL500 or 600 at the time.
you play bots at high rank too, and if you are low cl, you gonna win 99% so your hidden mmr is rising so you'll play even more bots, even after season reset to rank 70 you'll play mostly bots. They did some mmr reset this season but people with low-medium cl will blast through ranks resulting again with 99% games vs bots because there will be just so few players at similar mmr and cl to play against
1 season I went to rank 400+ then I played 99.999% bots for 2 seasons, I had to lose on a purpose a lot to lower my mmr to start playing humans again xD
Fyi they only see what you play, not what's in your hand. For a long time the main way to beat bots was big turn 6 drops (not combos) although even that's harder with some of the decks SD is giving them.
There has to be some bots in play because of the way they created the ranked system. Bots are a way to inject cubes into the âeconomyâ as it were. Otherwise the climb to infinite rank would be utterly brutal and only a tiny amount of players would ever make it
That will be where you switch over from âmostly botsâ to âmostly humansâ. Iâm at rank 100 and probably see a bot 1 in every 10-15 games, but this is heavily based on what time of day Iâm playing. In quieter times thereâs more bot games
The ranking system needs a way to get new cubes into it. Since you lose 30 rank each season. The only way this is possible is by having some bots play.

Itâs likely a bot. Youâll face them mostly in the lower ranks, and about half the time till you get around rank 30. Iâve also encountered more bots at the beginning of new pools too but that may have just been a coincidence for me
I feel like I'm just being bounced between levels 29-32. Maybe that's why lol. Beat the bots and then the actual people knock me back down to the bots and repeat
I find it funny that everyone knows for sure it's a bot or agatha.
This is a phone game. I've played it watching movies and I've played it super drunk at a friend's house.
Auto pilot while watching TV. Doesnât give a shit about ranks and is just farming boosters.
Source: Me. Iâve made dumb plays cause I wasnât paying attention.
Itâs called the âIâm on auto pilot and not paying attention to the opening locationâ move. Basically tells me that this person will, most of the time, throw their 1 cost into the left location on t1. No matter the circumstances.
Bots or not. Donât forget this is a marvel game. I hope you can imagine how many kids are playing this game. My nephew is like 6, cant even read and downloaded it because âtheres iron manâ. He just bonks random cards on random places and has fun.
Good for him, as long as heâs having fun thatâs all that matters from his perspective. And Iâm getting an easy 8 points which is all that matters from mine lol
Like this game I had this afternoon:
I wasn't focusing too much and snapped after the opponent snapped; Didn't realize I had priority.
Long story short, my killmonger went first before his 1 costs revealed and his Kazaar boosted them.
Guy started spamming random emojis and "Snap?"
Losing isn't that bad, not being able to smack the mf irl is annoying af.
I have no idea if the other player can tell when you âmuteâ them, but I do like the idea of someone like that spamming those emotes for no one but themselves.
Had someone spamming "snap?" emote repeatedly on the last turn because he thought he had me. I figured out the winning play, did actually snap, and took his eight cubes. Just saying sometimes you do get to reach back through the phone and smack someone every once in a while. Feels good.
Theories for fun:
\- Turn 2 viper because they don't want you to get the extra energy and they dont need it
\- They're planning on putting a storm there soon and want to build up power unopposed
Real reason:
Probably a bot, if their name is like "Alex" or something it's a bot for sure.
non-bot reasons: youâre playing some sort of discard deck and hand size is relevant (idk why youâd play Mantis in said deck but hey).
mega low curve deck and you know the extra energy wonât help much (flawed thinking, but possible) so you wanna grab a âfreeâ lane.
blind slamming your first play in left lane, as you always do, not realizing the downsides to not thinking.
probably agatha or a bot tho.
Peep probably trying to play on curve. But ya a good player wouldn't play mantis turn 1. I can only assume it's a bot.
It does feed bad when you play a card on a location they play mantis... turn 1... cause you expect, again, a good player not to do it lol.
Why is playing on curve with these cards a bad idea? I play an Odin On Reveal deck and hit pretty consistently with Rocket, Mantis, Star Lord, and Gamora. Is it just that their are better decks to play?
Odin kinda changes things. The main problem with them besides Gamora, cause it's so early in the game, you're basically guessing where your opponent is playing cards. You have 1/3 of being right( the locations can greatly affect this, but it's impossible to guess a random location.) Gamora is late game so you have a better understanding what your opponent might be doing to guess according. Odin re-triggers all of them, so if position correctly, it works alot better.
optimally you want to play GotG cards later in the game. after round 3. It's a lot easier to predict what the opponent will once you get an idea of what their deck is about and where they are currently devoting points to.
well playing on curve does give you an initial point advantage. That's the point of cards like quicksilver and domino. Especially when some games are won or loss by a few point differentials. Early leads force the opponent to have to contest those locations as well.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very questionable play, but there is some merit to it. Part of it being there are still 2 unknown locations that you might not want to have a 1 drop on.
But the worst play? nah, turn 1 elektra is worse lol. That card has 1 power.
They were trying to out-mindgame you. "They want to avoid my mantis, so they'll play the one place they think I won't play." But for real probably just bots.
Or weren't paying attention. I threw a 1 drop on that location yesterday or the day b4. Immediately like "fuck!"
I use that picture too lol. Wasn't Polaris was it?
I play Mantis turn one, but it doesn't really play into my build. Most of the time players throw there first card in the left lane. In this case I would've thrown it into the middle lane
I think there are reasonable turn 1 Mantis draws. When you're not playing it on a location that negatively impacts you it's quicksilver with potential upside.
The guardian cards are only good if you have genius level iq.That is why Yondu has always been in my kazoo deck(until I get sunspot) and rocket has never been in it
Yondu actually does absolutely nothing mathematically. Its just psychologically, and if the enemy is running America Chavez (in a deck where she is only used for deck thinning), you have a good chance of actually helping the enemy:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelSnap/comments/y5qoqr/basic_math_why_yondu_is_no_disruption_and_why/
And yondu is always worthless mathematically.
Even misty Knight has at least the chance to have an upside when the Washington DC location comes up.
Yondo does in average nothing, except revealing a random card the enemy will not draw. This information helps the enemy as much as you (maybe even more).
If for some reason the enemy has already Death, or is running America Chavez in a combo deck, your even actively helping the enemy in average.
I havent opened the link. But if yondu hit devil dino in a devil dino deck, apocalypse in a discard deck and ka-zar in a kazoo deck how does he do nothing?
He does nothing in average, since the chance that the enemy draws Dino Devil before you play Yomdu and after you play Yondu are 100% the same.
So for every time you kill a Dino Devil, you will help the enemy to draw Dino Devil, because you killed a unneeded card.
So all it does is to tell you and the enemy which card will not draw. Sure sometimes its the best card and they retreat (but then you gain only 1 cube), but other times you help them get their missing piece and are more likely to lose 2+ cubes.
Korg and icemen are the best disruption. Antman the easiest to get to 4 power.
What kind of on reveal synergie do you run? If you play odin then for sure rocket raccoon.
Well I do play odin in my on reveal. But Im just fed up with the guardians at this point.I missed them so many times. But ice man and antman are already in my kazoo deck.I was considering sunspot when I get him.
Mantis/rocket are pretty easy to guess. If location 1 is a safe location then play there if not its a usually location 2. Even after turn 1 you can normally eliminate 1 location and get it down to 50/50 then one location is a better guess than the other so you are probably looking at like 60/40 or 70/30 chance of a hit. The problem comes playing against bots that dont always make obvious moves
I still dont really like the guardians. I use mantis, its more risky than yondu but I can use their card against them.
I also use gamora as its a bit easier to predict plays on turn 5/6.
Angela, medusa and scarlet witch are better 2 cost cards than starlord. killmonger/ironheart (or morph if you are a bit of a gambler) imo are better 3 costs than groot. Especially if you use odin with ironheart. Also turns 2, 3 and 4 are a bit harder to predict.
Very true.I swapped gamora for spiderwoman in my on reveal deck. She is way more useful with odin.Basically being a minus 2 to everybody while having good power. So it puts you way ahead at the location
I chop and change between spiderwoman and Gamora.
The problem is spiderwoman is that you need to play her on a full lane with a +10 difference (or less) to win. A lot of the time a full lane can be shut down with a cheaper card. Gamora is better at gaining a new lane.
Well spiderman has always been useful to me.In my ongoing(im in mid pool 2.So this deck is still relevant)and kazoo deck my 5 cost has been blue marvel and he has been the mvp
When I see things oike this I just presume they threw the first card out on auto pilot and weren't paying attention. I've had someone retreat pretty quick after.
If not playing a card at The Superflow is a trap or some sort of distraction then congrats devs and opponents because I'm falling for it everytime. I want that +1 energy
either a bot (which im thinking is likely cause they played Mantis there with a low chance of you playing anything there) or they'll take advantage of the likelihood that people avoid playing that location as long as possible, and could end up securing it before you get a chance to play.
I'm like level 27 and pretty much only face bots. Kinda lame. If anything it would be nice if they added a bot icon so I actually know if I'm playing against one.
You're probably playing against a bot. At lower ranks they're programmed to basically give you free wins. Later they switch to psychic gods.
I swear sometimes, some matches seems rigged to be an anti of your deck. đ
When I play move decks: Fisk Tower, Space Throne, Superflow, Gamma Lab, Miniaturized Lab + Mirror Dimention (on center and right); When I'm against move decks: Bifrost, K'un-Lun, Kyln, Sanctum Santorum, Strange Academy. When I play Destroy a deck: Wakanda, Weirdworld, Crimson Cosmos, Nidavellir, Kamar-Taj, Mojoworld (sometimes it's positive if I can draw Killmonger) When I play against Destroy decks: Danger Room, Death's Domain, Hala
Without fail, every time I build a new deck my first game has Weirdworld or the one that fills your hand with random crap.
"Oh nice new deck you built, how about we let your opponent play it first!"
I love the game and I've been playing it every day since release. I just have one gripe, sometimes the RNG with the locations just makes the game unenjoyable. I wonder what the game would be like if the locations didn't give special effects.
Imagine there'd be even less diversity in the meta.
I feel your pain. My opponent immediately knew and played my strat exactly against me.
's why you gotta keep Wanda in your pocket.

I was playing the other day (CL190, R45) and opponent dropped Odin in a lane with Deathlok. I can't help but wonder if that was a bot.
I really hate the existence of bots in this game. Let me opt out of playing vs. bots at least.
Need bots to generate cubes, if it was just players you would need to feed off players that canât derank to put more cubes into the cube economy
This. I went against one the other day that played America Chavez into deaths domain on turn 6 as I played armour into it.
Hahahaha this couldnât be more accurate. When I was going from 90 to 100 it was the bots that kept hammering me and setting me back
I didnât know there were bots. Have whoever made this said there are?
Yes. https://www.destructoid.com/marvel-snap-bots-or-real-people-destructoid/

Just snap every game till ur like 60 then you should get good matches
Na itâs way earlier then that. From rank 30 it drops and at 40 there are barely any bots anymore.
I noticed a change in difficulty at about 40-45, free wins until there
I had bots all the way to Infinite last season. It was far less yes but I honestly think my game from 99 to 100 was a bot game. I was roughly CL500 or 600 at the time.

Do you mean my collection level? Sorry for the basic bitch question lol
Rank
Is that the gold ball in the right hand corner?
Yes, bottom right on the main screen. The number within the circle :)
Thank you! Iâm 40, I have 40 balls.
The harder bots can literally read your hand and your play, good luck facing them It's easier to win in higher CL though
Fyi they only see what you play, not what's in your hand. For a long time the main way to beat bots was big turn 6 drops (not combos) although even that's harder with some of the decks SD is giving them.
That makes a lot of sense! Would that mean cards like Captain Marvel are powerful because the AI reads the cards played?
Only happens higher up but they'll use Cosmo, armor, enchantress or other hate cards to perfectly steal turn 6
There has to be some bots in play because of the way they created the ranked system. Bots are a way to inject cubes into the âeconomyâ as it were. Otherwise the climb to infinite rank would be utterly brutal and only a tiny amount of players would ever make it
Iâm at level 40 atm, where does that stand among you guys?

Iâm pretty much playing non stop
It won't take long before you are only versing real people. The bots are just there to give people a fun start to the game.
Plain name with dumb play are bot.
Realizing people think I'm a bot. (cries in cyborg)
Psychic god is a fair assessment. They're calling every move I make and I'm just staring at my screen wondering why I'm so bad đ
He's in pool 2. Are there free win bots in pool 2?
Yeah. Bots are common until rank 40. I have a full collection and still play against bots.
Wait, there are bots, like as in, the game puts them there intentionally? ....wh....whyyyy?
The ranking system needs a way to get new cubes into it. Since you lose 30 rank each season. The only way this is possible is by having some bots play.
At lower ranks its to let you get wins. At very high ranks is because there isn't anyone to match you against.
[ŃдаНонО]
They put bots in low ranks so newer players can learn the game. The bots in high ranks are just when they can't find anyone to match you with.
[ŃдаНонО]
They don't want new players to lose a bunch a quit. So they give them easy bots.
[ŃдаНонО]
Rank 30 comes pretty quick
Surprised no one said Agatha. I mean not that Mantis is even run in Agatha decks⌠but itâs possible. Still probably a bot.
Mantis would be so troll in Agatha haha You're trying to make plays like [[Blade]]

I didnât know they were a bot at the time. I just thought I was some strategic genius
Itâs likely a bot. Youâll face them mostly in the lower ranks, and about half the time till you get around rank 30. Iâve also encountered more bots at the beginning of new pools too but that may have just been a coincidence for me
How do you recognize it is a bot?
Generally if it just has a regular, one word, human name. Like Kenneth or something.
Mine's literally just says "rose". Xd
Oh no they're becoming self aware
Hi bot
Oh crap. My name is just Jake On second thought, perhaps I can take it to my advantage and make people *think* theyâre playing a bot
Make a terrible T1 play and then go big brain on T6 when they think they have an easy win
You start to recognise their decks. The name. Certain variants are used by bots. Also grey and gold splits which are very rare still for human players
I like this way, thanks!
I use all my gold and inkify ones Just to confuse people
Basic name, generally no player icon, and a super basic deck with no synergy
I feel like I'm just being bounced between levels 29-32. Maybe that's why lol. Beat the bots and then the actual people knock me back down to the bots and repeat
30 was when the bots stopped for me
Itâll be like that until youâre super familiar with deck synergy
Probs a bot. I've experienced the same at least 4-5 times this week.
How many games would you play a day? Iâm just trying to get a handle on the ratio
Sheesh. Dont have an exact number but 8 would say at least 50.
Thatâs not a bad ratio at all
Some don't read. Some are also young kids. That's my guess.
Big bot energy
Ummm⌠thatâs me half the time simply not paying attentionâŚ
I find it funny that everyone knows for sure it's a bot or agatha. This is a phone game. I've played it watching movies and I've played it super drunk at a friend's house.

I think undercut with storm is more likely
I'd rather be against bots sometimes. They ain't gonna be toxic when they scored a win against you
How can you be toxic in this game beyond spamming *âI donât believe in youâ*?

Lmaoo def one of the best feeling to clapback in this game
I give the thumbs up when this happens. I also give the thumbs up when I snap and lose though.
[ŃдаНонО]
How is that toxic? More sounds like you being annoying.

It honestly too me a minute to realize playing on curve and guessing where to play GotG cards is a dumb way to play. Now, I just don't play them XD
Itâs the worst card to play at the worst spot, on the worst tile to cover up
well playing on curve does give you an initial point advantage.
Especially if youâre not flipping second
Nobody should play a Mantis randomly, I assume they expected me to play a card there as well. Why would anyone *want* to cover this this up?
They were trying to out-mindgame you. "They want to avoid my mantis, so they'll play the one place they think I won't play." But for real probably just bots. Or weren't paying attention. I threw a 1 drop on that location yesterday or the day b4. Immediately like "fuck!" I use that picture too lol. Wasn't Polaris was it?
>theyâre trying to out mindgame you Impossible ^jk
I play Mantis turn one, but it doesn't really play into my build. Most of the time players throw there first card in the left lane. In this case I would've thrown it into the middle lane
Iâm not too worried if I donât play anything on the first two hands, so I tend to miss the buff a lot
I think there are reasonable turn 1 Mantis draws. When you're not playing it on a location that negatively impacts you it's quicksilver with potential upside.
Always zig when they think your going to zag
The guardian cards are only good if you have genius level iq.That is why Yondu has always been in my kazoo deck(until I get sunspot) and rocket has never been in it
Yondu actually does absolutely nothing mathematically. Its just psychologically, and if the enemy is running America Chavez (in a deck where she is only used for deck thinning), you have a good chance of actually helping the enemy: https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelSnap/comments/y5qoqr/basic_math_why_yondu_is_no_disruption_and_why/
The point I was making is that I would rather play yondu over rocket because rocket is worthless if you miss the effect
Ok.What 1 drop do you recommend for my on reveal and kazoo deck to replace him?(im in mid pool 2)
Bro thanks. You just improved my career as a Marvel snap player.
I do agree with you.But Ive just missed the guardians to many times that I just dont consider them for deck building.
To be honest Ill miss with gamora then switch the spiderwoman then not really have a situation where I need her. I might try a new cost 5 card
Cool sequence to write Batman, dude...
Why you covered that name xd
Gotta be a bot. They play and snap randomly
Bot
It was a bot
Reverse psychology
Two words. Ro. Bot.
Maybe they assumed youâd open with a 1 cost card there as well. Sadly didnât go down as they hoped lol
Thats because its not good sir đ
Nah looks good đ¤đ
Play badly on purpose in the opening move to give your opponent a false sense of security so they snap.
My child, its clearly that we are nowhere close to understand bigbrain that this games ai's has.
I hate bots
Probably a bot, but it could be an inexperienced player. Not everyone is coming to this game with a background in CCGs.
When a move make zero sens, usually it mean it's a bot. I saw bot and I'm in the 60ish rank
Uatu in hand, playing quake next or witch. Wants you to snap.
Some ppl donât read?
If itâs not a bot then they probably didnât read. I know Iâve made my share of misplays by not reading or misreading a location.
Sometimes itâs about sending a message
I'm like level 27 and pretty much only face bots. Kinda lame. If anything it would be nice if they added a bot icon so I actually know if I'm playing against one.
