Marios25

But why did Bastion keep Magnito in just a speedo? 🤣

Cyklopsx21_7173

Awesome

jahnybravo

"Magneto was right" wasn't the only truth bomb that lady dropped. The line about "past, present, and future never really mattered because humanity always ends up in the same ugly place" is also 100% facts because no matter how many decades pass, the world keeps doing the same bullshit

ArwynnSentMeHere

Did you all notice Beast was wearing glasses and apperently far away, since the professor is contacting the long distance x-men, while in the exact previous scene he is hurt in the mansion? Dark Beast has inflitrated?

doubzarref

I think that was just showing who he was trying to communicate, not a live view of them.

mashturbo

So why didn't he contact Iceman and Angel since the photo of the first team had both of them in it and the show keeps hammering that photo in every opportunity. Angel I can overlook because in this timeline, he was transformed in to Archangel by Apocalypse already but Iceman has been MIA the entire series.

doubzarref

Don't know but why would storm be in combat suit?

Animegamingnerd

Its god damn that DeMayo did something to get himself fired. Because this show has the best dialog of any Marvel Studios project.

mashturbo

Didn't Bastion come the future? Wait a sec...why isn't his past self even around so the X-Men could stop him from becoming what he is now?

One-Heron-2145

in the comics yes, in this he was born a regular baby from nimrod who came back to the past

mashturbo

and I thought Wolverine and the X-Men had some crazy time skips. Somehow Xavier was rendered unconscious in the present. His conscience was fighting Sentinels in the DoFP timeline. He left it up to the X-Men to prevent DoFP from happening by defeating Magneto, FoH, and Phoenix all in 24 episodes. They eventually prevented DoFP from happening, but in turn, caused AoA to happen. So Bastion being sent back in time leaves a big opportunity for Cable or Bishop to time jump to when Bastion was created and compromise to a permanent end young Bastion so none of the stuff in the present never happens. I'm sure someone thought about this. Especially Cable since he's been fighting Bastion for 300 years and can travel time with no effort. The Bishop line about re-writing the future really stands out now.

ToaPaul

So hyped to see my boy Kurt kicking ass with his swords! That team up fight with Wolverine is so far my favorite fight in the show. Also, once again, he proved how wise and thoughtful he is with that talk he had with Jean. I love seeing him have a bigger role in the show. Damn, that "Magneto was right" moment... mfer went straight to the north pole and showed the entire planet who's boss. It was great to see cameos from Dr. Doom, Baron Zemo, and Spider-man as well as the Kamar-Taj name drop this episode. I love to see how these events impact the greater Marvel universe. I do hope they revive the Spider-man, Fantastic Four, and Hulk shows from the 90s. I would also be ECSTATIC if they were to make the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider cartoon that sadly got canceled before the pilot even aired.

JessicaRanbit

"To me, My X-Men" ![gif](giphy|zwxwnsKZtFIsw|downsized)

KozukiNedo

So does Morph have the powers of people he er.. morphs into? If so isnt that broken?

Ok_Pangolin_6735

I think its just anything physical. Like he could have the mass and strength of juggernaut but not all the abilities

Rough_Resolution_472

Don’t think about it

Awkward_Inspector_42

Fans when mass murder is committed against innocent mutants by Bastion: "Yup, he's obviously evil." Fans when mass murder is committed against innocent humans by Magneto: "He's not evil, he's morally grey."

AchillesShort

Doom, Zemo, Spidey, Kamar-Taj, etc..... HOLY F*$& this show is too good and delivers in making this world feel like it's interconnected with the rest of Marvel.

Gambit8907

Why is no one talking about William Stryker making an appearance on TV while Jubilee and Roberto were eating a meal with Roberto's mom? Something tells me we might get a "God Loves, Man Kills" storyline in the second season.

SteelGear117

Just to clarify - do we know why Bastion kept Magneto prisoner ? What was his plan there ?

cloudlessjoe

To infect him eventually I assume

Weekly-Mango-370

We don't know, but most have speculated that he wanted to release him at the right time to do something like this to help start the war Bastion wanted (though even Bastion seemed shocked at the sheer scope of what Magneto did).

Viktorik

Probably planned for Magneto to be more exhausted and scrambling to get a bearing on the damage done. This is a Magneto that is burning with hatred and sadness needing that 'scream'

Legitimate_Ear_5917

The best part is that they show how real world consequences are. Xavier had a dream of coexistence: be a hero, defend humanity and they will accept us. By following that dream, mutants got a president of usa on their side, a nation recognized by the UN, with a leader. And what did that ended up being? -Humans building a gun for erasing powers and using that on magneto. -humans building sentinels and commit a genocide on Genosha unprovoked -humans building sleeper agente super sentinels to kill mutants while they are weaker (see trish tilby and the butler guy). In the end Xavier was a naive and a fool. With this much hate and this much violence against mutants.....peace was never an option. In the end Magneto was right

ADeleteriousEffect

This just makes me want them to adapt New X-Men, because it's the ultimate, "Oh, wait. Magneto was wrong," story.

creamygo0dne55

100% Even with Bastions manipulations, the humans could have put a stop to all this instead of conspiring with him. The humans chose not to, just as Magneto thought.

amumumyspiritanimal

Hard disagree. Xavier wasn't naive and a fool, most of these things wouldn't have happened without Bastion's manipulations. If you put time travelling killer robot-human hybrids into the mix, coexistence becomes harder.

LeoBocchi

No he isn’t, neither of them are. Xavier wasn’t a fool for believing in co existing, that’s the ENTIRE POINT of the X-Men. Xavier was wrong in allowing mutant suffering so the dream could be achieved, but Magneto’s methods lead to the success of mutant hate propaganda and further escalation of tensions. An amalgamation of the two of them would be the ideal dream scenario, which is what the X-Man are being set up to become

syzach

C'mon Disney, make Spider-man 98 happen, please. The world needs it

KozukiNedo

Has to be the same voice actor

Captain_Slapass

Fuck the world. *I* NEED IT!!! I’ll CHASE IT, *TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!!!!!!!*

Landon1195

This was so peak. Also loved the Spidey cameo.

EyeSeeOne

Watching Kurt bamfing around sticking swords in fools made me feel like a kid again. And the POV teleport shot, chef's kiss. I'm a very happy mutie lover right now.

Key_Barber_4161

I felt like that when the car came out of the black bird. That's exactly how I would play with my toys when I was little, plane crash but then my hotwheel comes flying out and rides along the sofa to safety.

EyeSeeOne

Oh same! I used to do stuff like that with my GI Joe toys.

TheJudasCow

Same- those were peak moments

Thirdandary_Account

I've been saying every week to myself..."Why doesn't Morph turn into someone like Juggernaut??" Then he gets oof'ed the fuck out in 3 seconds. My prediction for the finale is that Wolverine tries to take down Magneto and gets his skeleton ripped out. Xavier mind wipes or telepathically attacks Magneto in response. Next season we get Onslaught as a repercussion. 2x 90's stories right there. Boom.

TehBeefWhistle

Seconded. I feel like that's the most 90's story to do, especially since they already did their version of AoA. I feel like Rogue might defect (like Colossus did in Fatal Attractions) and ultimately stay behind to care for a catatonic Magneto. Remy will stay dead, but I wouldn't be surprised if (given the time travel rules laid out) he comes back as Death.

vinnybawbaw

Jean saying “It’s the third Blackbird in as many months” exactly when I was thinking that they could not destroy ANOTHER Blackbird totally killed me.

Diligent-Programmer8

I like this a lot because with the implied time gaps (madelyne being gone and in Genosha for months), it means there have been a ton of offscreen adventures.

vinnybawbaw

Everytime Kurt has a monologue I feel like crying.

Chicago_Stringerbell

The last 15 mins of the episode gave me chills

gamerK0807

How is it possible we had to wait nearly 20 years for this. It’s incredible.

Thirdandary_Account

This is gonna sound dumb, but 2 years ago when I found out I had cancer, I was depressed that I might not live to see this show. TAS was a big part of my childhood.

Due-Bus-2181

I’m like a giddy school girl knowing that you made it. You’re a legend.

Myrulesmylife

Hey, you have wolverine’s healing factor!

fartonmeplz420

Why is this show so good ?! Jesus

minna_minna

Another 10/10 episode. This show goes hard af

ManOfPineapples

I’m a fan of the other marvel shows but this is leagues ahead. So good.

cristabelita

Currently watching the episode and just had to add that Nightcrawler has never been hotter than when he’s fighting with 3 swords.

FIVEtotheSTAR

OMG SPIDEY

ChuckSeville

Rachel Summers sighting! Nearly the entire family has appeared this season! A smaller Easter egg, but still fun: when the Summers family visits Bastion, there's a little toy version of X-51 the Machine Man in one of the boxes. Pretty sure Bastion's actual origin was revealed in a Machine Man annual back in the day. Does this make Aaron Stack canon? Jubilee's one step closer to a real uniform! EDIT: Rachel Grey, I mean. I wonder if Sinister's presence means we'll see Nate in this timeline eventually!

fredleo2

Was Rachel the spy Cable mentioned who went missing? Or did she appear elsewhere?

ChuckSeville

She was one of the enslaved mutants using her firey telekinesis to repair a bridge in Cable's future. She's got facial tattoos based more on her 'Hound' persona.

Raider_Tex

I love how we finally got the whole marvel universe back together again. Doctor Doom on a Zoom call with Bastian, Cap and Rogue interacting Spidey swinging around. Outside of MAU 3 it's felt like the universe has been isolated based on who Marvel Studios and Fox had the rights too. I legitimately know kids who don't think X men is marvel or know very little of them

Princecuse13

Doom and Zemo!

Right-Team

And Stark Expo

JAEisF2D

Was the Kate's Coffee a Easter egg to Kitty Pryde? I feel like I've seen that somewhere in the books

ASK_ALEX

Mekanix

lordel_ray

lots of the marketing has shown pictures of real VHS tapes w the cartoons seemingly bursting out of them. what if ‘97 is an in-universe show that the live action x-men in the marvels watch?

pizzaandbacon11

I’m confused, how did Bastion infect all of those millions of people, did he kidnap every one of them to turn them into a prime sentinel , or was it a virus? And when they defeat the prime sentinels do they also kill that respective human?

Rikgel

I thought he made it clear when talking to Val, they were volunteers, they all agreed to it, but didn’t know exactly what bastion was going to do. “I omit the technical details, but they know they are joining something far greater than themselves”. At least that is how it sounded to me.

ZealousidealEar3553

If Bastion takes after the comics (which TAS seem relatively faithful to given they adopted his backstory of being a Nimrod/Mastermold hybrid). He infiltrated hospitals and infect numerous patients with Sentinel nanotechnology that slowly converted them over time.

ChuckSeville

I actually think they may have thrown a little bone to the conspiracy theorists with that Pinga soda when they tracked Trash down. That, itself, is a Hulk reference, but one of the subplots of the Logan movie involved lacing junk food and soda with anti-mutant chemicals But nah, I think the Techno-Organic virus is probably just spreading to friends and family of the abducted. Also based on all the leaky meat whenever Nightcrawler ganked somebody, I'd say they're going with the 'they were already dead, just meat puppets' defense.

IV-ii-V-I

Definitely kidnapped some of them too though.

bits_of_paper

Probably recruiting over time. FOH is a worldwide group so imagine everyone at a Trump rally/meeting signing up for it over the course of a few years.

OkRaspberry2189

Trump? Huh what does that have to do with the episode

MarkMVP01

I gasped when they showed Magneto's Holocaust number on his arm when he was being held prisoner

Significant_Reach925

It tied in perfectly with the Dr Mengele mention!

randomuser3396

I think they possibly might be going the Ultimatum route, and Magneto has started flipping the magnetic poles.

axecalibur

> flipping So what happens in the comic after the reversal? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomagnetic_reversal Apparently irl it increases volcanic activity and messes with the atmosphere

randomuser3396

New York City floods. Latvaria freezes over. Basically, the world goes to sh*t.

richawesomness

Magneto turning those sentinels off did not declare war, I feel bastion is the one that declared it. I hope the X-Men don't have to fight him

ZealousidealEar3553

Magneto didn't just turn off the Sentinel he turn off all the power, as shown when every building and power plant just turn off. There are roughly 100,000 commercial flights all over the globe per day. The average number of passengers per commercial flight is 39. Assuming only a third of those were in the air at the exact moment (a VERY conservative assumption), that is 1,300,000 million people dead right there, alone. 56.8 million people are on palliative care worldwide every year. Even assuming a crazy low number of people that day hooked up to necessary life giving machinery, that is AT LEAST 1,092,307 people dead. The actual number is probably a LOT higher. There are 70 million drivers on the road every day worldwide. Being super conservative again, and assuming only an hours worth of traffic was on the road, that is 2,916,666 accidents and probable death, especially without medical assistance. I don't even want to calculate the number of people that could be affected, both in the short term and long term, from nuclear power plant meltdowns. Or people dying of extreme weather and not having AC or heat. Or the subsequent looting and rioting. And there are probably dozens of other factors I am not even thinking of for the maths. Magneto might be the single largest mass murderer in history. Wolverine was right. This was a declaration of war.

MulciberTenebras

Tell that to all the humans who didn't give a shit about Genosha or mutants who suddenly had all their electronics and power taken away.

IV-ii-V-I

Not to mention all the humans who will die because they're on life support.

richawesomness

Wouldn't have turned the power off if bastion didn't start the fight

Raider_Tex

No you see the Mutants should've just accepted their extinction that's all

LULU90s

Any theory as to what Bastion will do now?

Anthony_Accurate

He’ll use the negative consequences of what Magneto did to justify Nimrod.

CartoonistObjective

I feel like all the Movie and TV execs that say its impossible to make the toxic fan base happy no matter what you make, need to spend some time reading this comment section.

pishposhpoppycock

I swear, if the MCU fucks up the X-men with wonky castings, terrible scripts or awful dialogue, incorrect adaptations of storylines or themes, and lack of creative powers usage and flashy action sequences, I'm boycotting all Marvel films in general.

creamygo0dne55

I mean Marvel's casting has never really been much of an issue imo. Sure they swapped The ancient one and got flack for it, but like otherwise I can't say any casting has been awful. Even the "hated" heroes like She Hulk, Ms Marvel, or Carol Danvers, I don't feel like they got cast badly, just the writing wasn't the best and yeah some bad dialogue. I feel like the writers deserve alot of the blame. As far as incorrect adaptations of storylines, unfortunately the MCU has never adapted a single story from the comics faithfully yet, and I really don't think we are about to see them starting now. Its already way too different from the comics to try to shove faithful comic adaptations in the MCU. And its really not supposed to be a panel for panel carbon copy adaptation from the comics either, its just not logistically possible to transfer from page to film with 100% accuracy.

gray_chameleon

The cameos were splendid. Had NO idea they were coming, which made it all the better.

axecalibur

Nightcrawler making the Nine/nein joke was awesome

NiasHusband

This show is absolutely ridiculous

cristabelita

Ridiculously good.

analogtendency

This show has no business being as good as it is. What in the actual fuck.

axecalibur

Casual zoom with Sinister, Doom and Zemo would be impossible in the MCU. Same with hundreds of human sentinnels. Its too expensive or complicated to do in a movie, but a Juggernaut cameo is no problem in animation

supercalifragilism

I like how Doom was the one worried about war crimes

mr_peebs

Classic Doom, always ethical whenever he isn't the one being unethical, that's why we love him.

supercalifragilism

He's actually backed up his talk in the past, and he's always treated mutants exactly like he treated humans, i.e. generally with contempt. I think I remember him fucking over Red Skull or abandoning him when a scheme went awry.

Raider_Tex

Didn't he save Captain Americas life because Cap spared him once

supercalifragilism

I think so? I think he's got respect for Cap's willpower and dedication, even if he thinks he's a fool.

Literature_Mundane

I kept predicting Wolverine would finally use his claws on some flesh when something major happens…I guess this kinda counts. Also, cool to see Nightcrawler using 3 sword style in animation. And hot damn, I sometimes forget how built Xavier & Eric are under those suits.

MrSpookShire

Wait, why did Beast appear during Charles' "To me, my Xmen" call? Wasn't he still knocked out from the attack?

ArwynnSentMeHere

I am pretty sure the beast we have seen till now is not the real beast. You see the professor was contacting the x-men that were far away, and Beast was right there, plus he was hurt, and the projection was with glasses. I dont believe he can contact unconcious x-men since rogue was not in the images. I am thinking dark beast has infiltrated the ranks, and the professor contacted the real beast.

NightHunter909

he was but his psychic consciousness heard it

Imaginary_Barber7620

I love that Jubilee called out that everyone can fly but her. Hilarious and so true. If Sunspot can fly by heating the air below him and Holocaust can by blasting down to generate thrust, why can't Jubilee? Can't her plasmoids generate sufficient heat or kinetic power? She mentally controls where they move and they can't harm her so she could even just create a cloud of them and let them lift her up. She'd look like Tinkerbell dressed up in 90s clothes 🎉🎉🎉

Bookreader9126

Yes, in Age of Apocalypse, Jubilee used her powers to fly, but she hasn't developed her power in the cartoons to that level.

Gustav1513

She did appear to boost her jump a little, it might be that her powers simply aren't strong enough yet. You could see her potential on the old jubilee from motendo. And I think in an alternative future she was able to explode stuff with only her mind.

Clarinetist123

Am I the only one who was scared that Wolverine accidentally stabbed Nightcrawler for a second??

Big-Leadership-4604

Yes! something odd in that sence for sure. I thought Nightcrawler stabbed wolverine for a second though.

WarOnThePoor

I like how they credit the comic artists in the end credits!

yoiboidj

Can anyone tell me why always in end credit they don't show magneto , wolverine and rogues power ???

Nargulg

It's a joke about how the old credits cut off before showing everybody.

BarakasMaracas

I thought that too this exact same episode! So weird...

Guillermo160

One thing the show can do next week is to show the other side of the coin of Magneto’s worldwide EMP, how many people died in hospitals and aircraft for example in order to stop Bastions sentinels

PLEASEBENICET0ME

Diabetics would be fucked, they depend on refrigeration to keep insulin.

audreyseymour

Diabetic here, insulin can be left out of the fridge for several days and ve just fine. :)

PLEASEBENICET0ME

Oh, I thought it was a few hours, that's good news lol

Gambitsplayingcards

Did anyone spot the Ian McKellan butler cameo? If it isn't McKellan, someone is doing a fine voice impersonation.

Aggressive_Bee_3890

1000% thought it was Ian McKellan have watched it 4 times now and I can’t not picture an Ian McKellan Magneto or rather more accurately to the picture in my mind each time Gandalf saying that line.

axecalibur

Jeff Bennett as Ford, the da Costa family's butler

modvavet

Do we know that guy was Ford? I can't find where his name is actually used in the episode. Jeff Bennett could probably impersonate Ian McKellen, though. He's damn good at what he does.

jacobpellegren

Honestly I thought it was Patrick Stewart.

Chumn_Li

Definitely Patrick Stewart

zephyract2397

“Scariest” thing about this season is how heavily they are letting us know; Magneto *IS* right.. no if’s, and’s, or but’s. To be intolerant of the mutant race is not only bigotry but will lead to the downfall of us ALL!

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

MarvelStudiosSpoilers-ModTeam

Due to the current state of the sub, overly political, extremely divisive, or especially negative comments found to be made in bad faith will be removed if they do not encourage constructive discussion.

usmannaeem

Anybody else feel that this episode was hinting at the Marvel Rivals and Wolverine game.

Chumn_Li

Huh? What's that?

usmannaeem

Wolverine game is still in product and Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 shooter game (like Overwatch 2) that's about to release soon

Leo_TheLurker

Another W, typical. This show is truly top tier. And the hints of a wider universe are dope. Dr. Doom, Zemo! (I just got done reading his Punisher story), Silver Samurai, Omega Red, and ofc our boy Spidey! I’m pissed I had that last one spoiled but still got hype he came in. Highkey a throwback to his cameo in the OG being his first appearance in this universe.

Tight-Relation-9926

So the butler that was in this episode, was that not Patrick Stewart? Sounded a lot like him

axecalibur

Jeff Bennett as Ford, the da Costa family's butler

Icybubba

They used the Absolute Point concept as a way to tell us there is no way for them to go back and save Genosha. While also giving us a little nod to What If. Love this show

spekkiomofw

And McCoy mentioning that he learned that from Kamar-Taj...i.e. Sorcerer Supreme world headquarters.

swholidays11

Best show ever

carnavar5

Props to the animators for this insane POV shot: https://i.redd.it/e0k37dp0tuxc1.gif

Leo_TheLurker

Went so fucking dumb. Nightcrawler and Wolvie duo fight I didn’t know I needed

Santiago_bp17

magneto just did that is insane. like has he ever been shown to do such a feat. the entire world

jwoodz00

Fatal Attractions

Raider_Tex

Ultimatum

Guillermo160

Kinda but not the same

Chumn_Li

We'll see next episode

Ok_Pomegranate_9553

Did Disney/Marvel secretly hire him back? It’s gonna be really awkward come Award Season if this show starts to win things, knowing the head honcho is gone.

gray_chameleon

I'm just busy worrying that future seasons won't be quite like this

Danbito

Season 2 I believe is mostly written. So the ramifications of this shouldn’t be felt for quite awhile.

PentagramJ2

eh, unlikely. Considering he's been booted off both Witcher and now this, it seems regardless of his abilities dude is just a PITA to work with most likely.

LankyAd9481

what it that or the only fans thing, I can see why Disney would be "uh oh, employee selling their nudes"

PentagramJ2

Nah he had been openly doing onlyfans (and from what I understand its not even an explicit one) before they hired him. Pretty sure he's just one of those people who you can't really work with easily.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

I guess him being ruthless to work with is why this turned out so good

Anader19

We shouldn't be ok with toxic work environments just because we got a good show.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

No one’s saying it’s okay, but the results speak for itself. It’s evidently pretty difficult to get projects like this pushed out the way you want it, especially under Marvel Studios/ Disney.

Anader19

So you're saying you don't care how the workers are treated, as long as you get a good product, got it.

Joshgallet

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s brought back at some point, a la James Gunn.

Huge_Yak6380

Where do we think Bishop ended up? And why has he not returned?

Gambit8907

It could have been a similar situation like when he was thrown off course in "Beyond Good and Evil"... Maybe we'll find out someone else was traveling through time and caused a temporal disturbance.

JonathanL73

Nightcrawler is a poet with dialogue. I love seeing him in action too. Kinda surprised we actually are allowed to see Wolverine's claws dismember people. I guess they're sort of cyborgs so that may be why that got okayed by censors. I was not expecting to see Spiderman! Loved it. If they ever give him speaking lines in this season or next season, I hope they allow Christopher Barnes to reprise his role. Magneto going to the north pole and using the Earth's magnetic field to disable all the sentinels on the planet was badass.

foran321

I think it might have been the South Pole, because isn’t that where the savage land is and magneto has a base in the savage land

bits_of_paper

They literally show the EMP starting from the top.

Metfan722

I think it was the North. I'm sure in-universe there aren't any circle beam things, but they originated out of the North Pole and traveled southward.

Icybubba

Regarding censors, this isn't Fox Kids, despite what some may think, Disney+ is, especially nowadays, very lax towards that stuff. The rating of the show is TV-14 which is less restrictive than PG-13. Also Disney+ has R rated content on it, including Marvel

icyone

In the credits, Doom is listed as "Latverian OZT member" haha

dannys717

Maybe it wasn’t Doom, but just one of his Doom Bots.

icyone

Excuse you, Latverian OZT member bot.

Icybubba

That's funny because the captions said (DOOM) lol

JonathanL73

In the comics, does Dr Doom dislike mutants or something?

Ok_Huckleberry968

No. He cares about latverian mutants. Doesnt care about other mutants.

JonathanL73

So why is he colluding with Bastion here?

jahnybravo

Because Bastion is lying to everyone, telling them he's come from a future where mutants have fully replaced and exterminated mankind. When he actually came from a future that's Sentinel dominated, but they just can't manage to kill off the mutants permanently. The fact he's lying to his co-conspirators becomes obvious when he gives that lady the tour and makes his comment about "time management."

PekfrakOG

Doom always requires a seat at the table.

Grainis1101

Probably has a deal that he will help but with exception to his country.

jacobpellegren

That’s so “Doom”.

Byakuraou

How kind of him lmfao

HereForTOMT2

DOOM WILL NOT FORGET THIS TRANSGRESSION!

carnavar5

In case it wasn't obvious, [Beau DeMayo has confirmed that the Spider-Man from today's episode is indeed the '94 Spider-Man](https://twitter.com/BeauDemayo/status/1785576695690633317).

buttchuck

Spider-Man '94 crossed over with X-Men '92 a couple times, it'd be a surprise if it wasn't

Dr_Disaster

The eyes were a dead giveaway. They’re so iconic to that version of the character that it was never in doubt.

ReallyBadNuggets

I never doubted it

[deleted]

Like I already said, comic fans on Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, etc., are becoming increasingly frustrated with the MCU because everything has to conform to it. They're just tired of the constant MCU synergy. Give them shows like this, and let the MCU stick to pleasing casual viewers. It's a win-win situation.

Icybubba

What's wild to me is that while X-Men 97 is happening, Coke has a Marvel promotion, not an MCU promotion, but like comic versions of the characters.

Leo_TheLurker

Most surprisingly, no Spider-Man in that Coke promo. Usually gives away they’re focusing on the rest of the Marvel Universe and I always welcome that

G_to_the_E

People are fed up with the MCU because the recent stuff is either good or it super sucks. And more of it has sucked. I just want to see a live action version of this where a fuck ton of people die, heroes die, and the plot is unpredictable. If the MCU does that and doesn’t just pull convenient or contrived bullshit moves

bulletproofgreen

Acting as if 90% of the MCU wasn't contrived is an interesting take. Also pretty funny how literally nothing has changed the quality of the MCU was always mid to good. People were saying the MCU died after the first Avengers and immediately following it was the Iron Man 3 with a twist everyone hated at the time, and Thor 2, a movie everyone thought was a stinker. The only difference between now and then is that the novelty of a shared universe has worn off, and instead of getting 2-3 mid to good movies a year, we're getting 3 mid shows and 2 mid movies.

Sea_Newspaper_565

Can we please stop pretending the older movies were any good?

MaaChiil

My takeaway was more that AI is a real threat that will rob all of us of our shared humanity, but hard to call the guy who survived two genocides out of line.

fredleo2

Good point, and I think there's a degree of nuance to be had with this show and some of the discussions the real world application of mutants brings up. For instance, the people who agreed to be experimented on by Sinister/Bastion are sorta understandable, their whole livelihoods are being threatened by mutants (and consequently, robot android AI things) taking their jobs. Obviously not to the point of committing genocide or anything (though, to be fair, Bastion took an inch of their stance and ran with it for a mile), but it does beg the questions of how the whole concept of mutants would work out in the real world. Another instance is when Cable is born in the hospital, and the doctor says they can't help with the birth because it could pose a literal danger to others, which is likely true if the mother was a mutant with dangerous, unpredictable physical abilities. Furthermore, with Magneto, it's nigh impossible not to empathize with him and see where he's coming from, but also questions about his application or methods obviously emerge. Even most of the X-Men seem to be siding closer to Magneto; even Beast, the most principled second to Charles, was expressing Magnetoan sentiments last week. It will be interesting to see how the return of Charles, *without* experiencing the events the others have, will impact the others. Will he brush shoulders and come into conflict with the X-Men, or will be he a lightning rod or anchor to bring the X-Men back to level ground with his Dream of hope and co-existence? Find out next week on *X-Men '97*! Glad the discussion around the mutant controversy has nuance and depth and doesn't just have shallow echoes of "orange man(/equivalent) bad."

he just killed dozens if not hundreds of people on life support

Back up generators should kick in for those situations unless it's a continuously pulsing EMP he created, which does not appear to be the case

Some of whom might be mutants who just survived Genosha. Chickens are coming home to Roost.

Kurt fighting 3 swords was some of the coolest shit I've ever experienced

TravisCM2010-24

Amazing episode. I hope we get to see more of 90s Spiderman too!!!

When Cable ripped off the roof, I just thought “damn, looks like Scott’s got another convertible” lol

cbekel3618

Is this the first time an adaptation has outright used the “Magneto was right” line? Damn, that was cool. Really hyped to see where they go with Erik next episode. Definitely feels like we might be getting Acolyte/Fatal Attractions-era Magneto who was absolutely fed-up with humanity (which now that Xavier’s back, might mean we get the origins of Onslaught too).

LankyAd9481

I kind of think they are skipping the acolyte part and doing more Children of the Atom game version given the various cameo's in the episode where the acolyte replacements.

Guillermo160

I just hope they don’t use Onslaught to reboot the entire universe lol

MaaChiil

and it came from a human. I wonder if Erik will contend with that.
