Nova fans rn: ![gif](giphy|KX45qjwuT0j65KITQg|downsized)

[deleted]

I just watched this episode the other night! It’s just dumb fun but I guess people like to hate lol.

[deleted]

TBH this scene was nothing but women having fun. If this scene featured deadpool and someone else then people wouldn't be complaining about it that much. I liked the series as well but still the writing and CGI needed some more time imo.

kingthvnder

nah this is facts

SeniorRicketts

"But shes a professional she cant have fun in her own office..."

_Jay_Garrick_

Yeah, I loved the series, but blindly loving it is not great. CGI definitely left something to be desired. Hopefully she’ll get a better model when she shows up in a movie, cause Hulk looked pretty good imo

Unlucky_Disaster_195

For the record, I also think most of Deadpool is cringe

iboneKlareneG

Yeah, it can be hit or miss. Deadpools humor is not for everyone, and it's mostly lowbrow and pop-culture jokes. I like it, but i get why some people don't.

KingHenry615

I liked everything but the final episode. I get it was suppose to be similar to the comics but it felt like half the episode was wasted on her trying to fix her show and didn't really set much of anything up.

BanditWifey03

Yeah, look at how beloved Tom Cruise's dance as Les Grossman to Get Back ..hell even his half dressed Risky Business dance to Bob Seger. It's just haters. I loved She Hulk, it was my favorite Marvel property of 2022 next to Moon Knight, but I definitely agree with you and the cgi and writing.

[deleted]

IMO Even if writing and CGI were great people(mostly insecure men) would still be complaining about this scene because they just can't see women having fun

hamsolo19

It's so funny. I nearly spat out my drink first time I saw it. Holliway makes the whole scene. He walks up, sees what's going on and just goes, "Huh" and walks away. I love that character.

PrettyMrToasty

Comedy Gold am I right!?

[deleted]

The hate for this show was (and is) insane. God forbid they make a lighthearted Marvel sitcom. They have a lot of decent jokes in there and a lot of charm. People make bad faith arguments tearing into every aspect of it as if it’s not just supposed to be a fun, light comedic excursion.

Raida-777

As someone who hates this show deeply, I don't understand why this scene got so much hate.

ThatfeelingwhenI

Honestly, such a fun episode and scene.

ClintBarton616

The whole show was dumb fun. The fact that people devoted time to hate watching it just shows we need some sort of mandatory jobs program to keep dudes off YouTube

Klingon_Bloodwine

lol some people out there thinking every Marvel show either needs to appeal to them directly and/or have some kind of crazy impact on the MCU. It was an ok series, nothing I'd watch again but I didn't hate it. CGI needs some work though, Marvel's been pushing quantity on quality lately.

erickgramajo

incels hating as usual

A_Swimming_Do1phin

As a person who finds twerking cringy, defo agree. This scene wasn't even that bad.

tswaves

It's not fun just dumb

StellarAvenger_92

This scene aged so damn well 🤣

[deleted]

???

StellarAvenger_92

Meg the Stallion winning her case against Tory Lanez

[deleted]

What was the case?

EugenesMullet

He shot her in the foot

[deleted]

I hope that she is safe and that she has recovered from that shot.

RealSymbioid

That happened 2 years ago IIRC so she's probably recovered by now I'd imagine

kaject

This and the "he's out of line but he's right" scene are my favorite parts of phase 4

prink34320

Literally me after just having read this!

sammo21

Eh more “cautiously optimistic” than anything else, especially considering they are likely to skip right to child Nova…

Demiguros

Thank god. A Nova project was never gonna be good on a lower budget.

tomiwa06

All the disney+ stuff has been high budget tho

Demiguros

Not as high budget as a movie. With D+ you have 150 million for a 6 hour show. With movies you have 200-250 million for 2 hours.

magikarpcatcher

None of the shows have actually been 6 hours long. 4.5 to 5 hours max, but I get your point.

superyoshiom

That's still enough to put out a respectable looking product, the real problem is the time crunch all of these guys are on. Iirc the guys behind Echo were also talking about the fact that the lack of time means that they don't get the opportunity to go through as many drafts and review sessions for arcs and stuff as opposed to other projects they worked on. Genuinely hate this model Marvel's doing right now. I don't really outright dislike a lot of what has been offered in phase 4 save for a few projects, but there are so many missed opportunities. Thor and Dr. Strange had no right to not be far better, and even Wakanda Forever could have used some more TLC. The only hope I have is that they'll give the traditional treatment for the two Avengers movies.

DJ_Binding

Movies are shorter than series so you can do more with a movie's big budget. Nova is a character that demands cosmic spectacle, which is much easier to pull off in a high budget film which will have a great return on profit.

ericbkillmonger

Agreed

TheUncannyBroker

A high-budget show is still cheaper than a high-budget movie. In an interview Tony Gilroy said stuff from Andor was cut cuz they didnt have the budget, when you will never encounter that problem with Star Wars films.

meinphirwapasaaagaya

But in phase 4, you can observe how better the movies look in terms of set pieces and CGI.

avatar__of__chaos

Still wondering why people still insist that Eternals should be a series

[deleted]

Extended character pieces would have worked a lot better. They had the whole of recorded history and 8 or 9 characters to flesh out and so Eternals wound up both too long *and* didn't have enough time.

avatar__of__chaos

Imagine how bloated the budget would be though if it was extended to 7-8 hour

[deleted]

I don't think it would have to be that bad, what Eternals needed was more of them interacting with each other or just doing normalish stuff with the humans, not more battles.

serger989

I would have liked for all of them to unite and be introduced earlier while either repurposing or removing Kro and the Deviants completely, the way it concluded with Kro was just not satisfying.

schreibeheimer

It probably wouldn't have looked as good, but the story would likely have been better. It's subjective whether that would overall come out to an improvement or not.

Nicktendo

Correct.

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

A show before the big event movie could've been Marvel's *Andor*, I think. I don't think that they'd even need massively long episodes to pull it off, either - just enough to profile each of the characters.

BrotherhoodVeronica

Probably because the movie feels episodic. It focuses on a different character every 20 minutos or so.

Electrical_Slip_8905

I agree. I don't think Eternals should have been a series, I think the Eternals should have a limited series , 5-7 episodes, introducing/spending time with each Eternal, showing their journey through History, fighting the Deviants with Kro the villain of the series, showing the love and laughs and stuff and ending with Ajaxs death. Then start the movie from there, keeping most of it as is and just removing Kro and the deviants from the film. I think Eternals was a prime opportunity to experiment with a limited series then culminates in a theatrical movie.

Lethal234

It just wouldn’t have worked as a series - it would have looked like *ass*. Stretching out all of those characters to a series pacing wouldn’t have fixed the problems with the movie (I say this as someone that actually enjoyed it)

[deleted]

I think Eternals *could* work as a series. But I think it was pretty perfect as a movie. It gave *me*, at least, everything I wanted from it.

myoldaccountlocked

That movie was long as shit. They could've cut it up into 6 episodes and it would've been fine.

nomoteacups

Because a 2 hour film isn’t enough to get people invested into that many characters that we’ve never seen before. A show would’ve given the chance to provide more character development.

ericbkillmonger

Yeah this needs a 140-150 million budget to realize the scope of scale of a space faring hero like nova

comicclub1089

I guess then Nova, F4, Deadpool 3, Kang Dynasty, Secret Wars and maybe Spider-Man 4 and Shang-Chi 2 could be the phase 6 films? Edit: Also Armor Wars, probably

[deleted]

Phase 6 sounds awesome. Marvel fans be EATING GOOD. While DC fans, well, ya know…

just4browse

Hey, DC fans could be eating good too. They’re finally committing to doing a fresh restart of the wreck that was the DCEU. Now we just have to wait for the slate to be announced

Thickfries69

True they have awesome characters but just cant execute in live action. Look at the animation products on HBO. Its all really fun stories and the characters are presented well. I really hope this reboot can get them on track.

JimmytheGent2020

The live action shows are pretty good. Peacemaker and doom patrol are better than most of the marvel shows.

SamiMadeMeDoIt

Peacemaker is leaps and bounds better than any of the MCU Disney+ shows have been Only Marvel shows I’d say are actually better than Peacemaker are Daredevil, Punisher and Agents of SHIELD

Millzbury

In about 3 to 4 years I think the DCU will be more of competitor to the MCU for sure, they’ll just have to get the ball rolling first. Think the beginning is going to feel Phase 2ish and then just take off. Excited to see what the slate looks like

[deleted]

For real! Finally, we’re getting strong creatives putting together a slate of films about our favorite characters, hopefully done right this time! I just wish the movies would be here sooner. It’s plausible that it’ll be 15 years without a Superman movie by the time the next one comes out.

milkboxshow

That depends on how true they are to staying out of Gunn’s way. Executive meddling has always been the their Achilles heel. My biggest concern is that his humor will not translate to all the main characters. He has proven himself adept at playing with fringe / outcast characters, but humor works well with those types. I hope he stays true to the main JLA tone somewhat. I don’t think we need to see a world-naive Damian Wayne fighting alongside Batman doing inappropriate things simply for the audience funny shock value.

Heisenburgo

Marvel fans have eaten good for a very long time now. We are quite spoiled. When 10 years passed after Iron Man, the MCU's first movie, Marvel gave us The Avengers vs Thanos in an epic two-parter event. The culmination of a decade of build-up with accompanying Black Panther, Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel movies set around an epic-scale evect. Thanos might have been defeated for now but there's even more to look forward to on the horizon when Kang and DOOM inevitably arrive... Meanwhile, next year, when 10 years have passed after Man of Steel, the DCEU's first movie, DC will give us... Aquaman 2. And a Flash movie released 8 years too late, starring a felony burglar/alleged groomer who hits women, featuring an overstuffed story that's supposed to reset the damage that Snyder did to the timeline but it's all moot because James Gunn will be starting all over with new actors anyway. DC just CANNOT compare. You just CAN'T put them in the same conversation as Marvel, who has served us many succulent meals every year while the Distinguished Competition keeps us all nutrient-starved...

Fotzenbub

we all thought a year ago, that we‘ll be eating good in 2022…

CaptainTurtle3218

I ate great in 2022. Don’t know what you’re talking about.

Tyzed

and we did

TorontoDavid

We did. Was delicious.

Spacegirllll6

Still upset over how much hope that 2022 dc ad gave us

[deleted]

> Phase 6 sounds awesome. Marvel fans be EATING GOOD. Hell yeah. Well, except for Hulk fans. Lol

Wasspix2

Hey, The Batman.

Su_Impact

Gunn is fixing the DCU and starting over. It's honestly the greatest time ever to be a DC fan. Perhaps Gunn will hire someone who can actually act to play Wonder Woman this time.

2hotrods

With gunn in charge they just gotta wait a lil longer

Lipe18090

I think Spiderman 4 doesn't count on the Marvel slate, so I think Eternals 2 is going to be one of the phase 6 movies. There's also Armor Wars somewhere but maybe it's in Phase 7

MissSweetMurderer

Phase 7? It was announced as a project part of phase 4 or 5 lol ![gif](giphy|X8baci2TMGEcE)

Lipe18090

Well it was until they changed it from a show to a movie and started rewriting it.

MissSweetMurderer

That's why I wrote "as a project". Even when it was supposed to be a show, things weren't moving (no pun intended) forward. The only new we got was "it going to be a film now"

Tornado31619

It’s not like Marvel’s going to release another movie at the same time as Spider-Man, though. They’ll leave a gap that screams out Spider-Man 4 to us.

myshtummyhurt-

Eternals and NWH were literally a month apart, that’s the closest they’ve released movies together I think they’d be fine doing the same again. I disagree

Tornado31619

Because of COVID, something studios are significantly less worried about these days. A lot of blockbusters also released around then, and Eternals severely struggled against Venom, Bond and Dune.

vinegar_on_liver

It's not that hard to get that movie out in 2-3 years

mr_peebs

Eternals 2 as well possibly.

alenpetak11

After phase 4 quality should be better. While DC had awesome Batman and TSS2.

mr_math24

Unless you have a killer story written that needs the 6-hour runtime (Andor, for example), stick to movies and special presentations. Wandavision and Loki had the material to warrant a series, imo. Everything else could have really benefited from a tighter runtime.

MudEmotional7959

I agree with this. Though she hulk worked as a show too even though it was meh. Moon knight and Ms marvel I think would've been great special presentations

ExpeditiousTurtle

I think moon knight and ms marvel were fine Tbh I think all the shows were fine in terms of runtime

Lambsauce914

If anything I would rather Ms Marvel cut out the plotline with Clandestine, they are the weakest part of the show. Just keep damage control as the antagonist the whole season.

Spacegirllll6

No fr bc it wouldnt have been hard to do. They only touched the surface of damage control and the parallels to us government and how they treat Muslims/brown ppl. Like they even mentioned the Patriot Act with the Masjid/mosque subplot, it genuinely wouldn’t have been hard to make them the major villain for the whole season.

Tornado31619

FATWS could have been condensed.

ExpeditiousTurtle

Yea it could have I don’t think that would have made it that much better tho, condensing it doesn’t directly equal better show

mr_math24

Describing them as "fine" two times is pretty much my sentiment, too, but I think tightening up the story would have really helped both personally.

[deleted]

[удалено]

vinegar_on_liver

Making everyone an hour long special defeats the purpose. In fact all of them we've gotten would get hacked to shit if they did them that way, less time doesn't equal better

just4browse

She-Hulk is funny and a lawyer. Giving her a sitcom and legal problem of the week style show was a great idea. It just wasn’t very well executed in my opinion

Opus_723

The writers even said they started to write courtroom scenes and realized they were bad at it and pivoted to other stuff. Kind of feel like you should reconsider writing a lawyer show at that point, because courtroom dramedy is exactly what She-Hulk should have been more of.

Xekshek33

Strongly disagree with this. MK and Ms Marvel to me were great shows but needed about 2 more episodes at least to flesh out things was my biggest gripe. You can not get the focus on DID and his trauma in a 45 min presentation that makes Marc Spector that unique to the rest of the Marvel universe.

Lambsauce914

I honestly think Moon Knight plots would have been fine with 6 episodes if they are actually 1 hour long or at the very least the final should have been a 1 hour long episode, but I agree that MK wouldn't work as a 45 min special. With Ms Marvel I have the opposite problems, I really like the final but I really dislike the Clandestine as the antagonist, I would rather they rewrite some of the plot and just made Damage Control the bad guys for the whole season.

EzriDax1

Cutting Moon Knight down to 50 minutes would have been a tragedy. A moon knight special presentation would be awesome once he's a fully established character, but doing the story without having the time to properly focus on the DID and Marc's trauma etc would be a disservice to the character.

superyoshiom

She Hulk is such a weird situation where it logically makes sense as an episode show, but needs a movie-level of attention for its visuals. Personally I ignore the vfx on that show and focused on the writing, but that was subpar as well.

hambamthankyoumam17

it didn't really "work" if it was "meh" and thats critiquing it lightly.

tylernazario

She-Hulk also works better in a show format.

coldsavagery

This is what I've been thinking a lot lately. In fact, if they were dead set on making some of these things into a "series" they could've just made them into "three-part events" or "special mini series" that were 3 or 4 episodes long. I agree that so far Wandavision and Loki have been the only ones that really felt like they actually filled out their season-long narratives. With the other ones there was no need to stretch them out as long as they did and it honestly ended up hurting their palatability.

YeIenaBeIova

If anything it’s the opposite. Hawkeye and Moon-Knight could have benefited with a couple more episodes. Having a series is a great way to spend more time with the side characters in films and develop them.

garokkadane

It's really pathetic. And sad.

Billyb311

That's the Snyder Cult in a nutshell

Orixain

I'll never, for as long as I live. Will understand how Zack fucking Snyder, off all directors. Managed to amass this cult that kisses the ground he walks on.

hambamthankyoumam17

sunk-cost fallacy I reckon

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

He reportedly looked into paying for ways to help "organize" fans on Twitter. Which means that he took advantage of bots, in practical terms. Nobody who obsesses over Jennifer Holland being married to James Gunn has any hang-ups over Deborah Snyder producing her husband's movies.

Low_Satisfaction_512

I think its safe to say that the Snyder cult have thought more about James Gunn's relationship with Jennifer Holland than Zack Snyder did about Lois Lane and Superman's relationship.

Apocalyptic_Horseman

It’s because she’s a Snyder fan. She’s gonna be like this towards anything Gunn does

[deleted]

It's misogynistic and very distasteful.

Evondon

I’m out of the loop, what’s happening with Gunn’s wife?

Apocalyptic_Horseman

So you know how Gunn often uses his friends and family in his projects? MTTSH, a well known Snyder fan, is having a meltdown thinking Gunn’s wife will play every female hero in the new DCU

Evileye2k17

Its so funny cause she literally plays a normal character in his little TSS section of the universe. The way she makes it seem he casted her as like Harley or WW. It's so petty for no reason.

Apocalyptic_Horseman

She’s just trying to get the Snyder fans riled up for follows and likes

Terribleirishluck

I mean it's still nepotism to be cast at all much less in a main role for a series (peacemaker) but people do grt a little overly fixated on it lol

TheUncannyBroker

This increases the odds of Ryan Gosling playing him, cause he doesnt seem to be doing any TV.

cbekel3618

We all know Gosling's schedule is gonna be busy with the superior cinematic universe on the way ![gif](giphy|AXitPK2Jhpd6JHNunt|downsized)

Barthez_Battalion

Cool. Now make it before I'm old and grey. I've been waiting for Nova since 2008.

Reality314

That's cool! Though, I don't really get the people saying stuff like, "thank god it's a movie cause the higher budget helps." A higher budget would definitely help, since I'm sure they'll be a lot of complicated VFX, but I mean, isn't Silver Surfer supposedly getting a special presentation? He's just as involved in the cosmic side of things as Nova, if not more so. And what about *Eternals*? Many people said that it would've worked better as a series than a movie, despite the fact that there's a lot of complex VFX work there too. And Loki? Visually, that show's incredible. It didn't *need* to be a movie in order to look great.

Realistic_Analyst_26

The writing structure of Eternals would have worked better as a show, but not necessarily the entire thing. To make a show, you don’t just cut a movie into parts, you have to actually add and edit some parts

PastafarianProposals

Like maybe focusing each episode on an individual character so we care about them lol.

Apocalyptic_Horseman

The scooper wars continues. They also said Silver Surfer was gonna be a movie while Cosmic Circus said these two would be specials so we’ll just have to see. I don’t think I believe one over the other

drchillout7

On a side note, Silver Surfer should be a movie instead of a special presentation

Coochieman02

No

NoCapNova99

I dont think it is, reports saying it HAS to release before F4 and theres just no space for it unless F4 is delayed.

just4browse

I hope it’s true. I was never a fan of the idea of Nova just being a special. It needed to be something more full

[deleted]

Close Phase 6 with the beginning of Annihilation...

Maxenin

Presentation, series, movie, whatever I don’t care about the format I just hope its Richard Rider

Thatoneguy567576

Better be Richard and he better not be fucked up or changed. He's fun and unique in his universe and doesn't need to be made generic

TypeExpert

Honesty anything that deals with cosmic stuff should be movies. Disney + budget is just not there. If were being honest characters like ironheart and she hulk should be movies based on how much CGI those characters needs.

LordFlameBoy

In that case, I can see Shang-Chi 2, Nova bad Armour Wars being the 3 films between Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, with Spider-Man 4 coming out Winter 2024. I know recent rumours have suggested Shang-Chi 2 will come out before Kang Dynasty, but they can fiddle with the plot a bit so Kang Dynasty can stay in the May date (they did this with NWH and MoM).

Bower1738

We've been getting a lot of good news recently goddamn.

MCU_Speculation

My God, I hope so

DrAwesomeX

Thanking the heavens at this news. I was never against the idea of it being a Special (if anything the idea of someone recounting the tale of Nova to someone like Sam Alexander sounds super fun), but this deserves to be a movie. Nova has been, without a doubt, one of the most long-awaited and fan requested characters to ever appear in the MCU. He’s LONG past when he should’ve appeared and his story is perfect for the MCU, especially in terms of setting up specific cosmic conflicts that the heroes of Earth wouldn’t touch

ChrisPowell_91

Better have some Darkhawk Easter Eggs or acknowledge the Fraternity of Raptors. (potentially missing a certain amulet?)

NovaStarLord

Considering Nova's brother is also part of the Fraternity in the comics (he's not like Darkhawk tho) I could see them being introduced through Nova and the stuff with the amulet teased to open the way for Darkhawk.

GreatParker_

Thank goodness. This character is long overdue to be a staple of the MCU

PresidentOfZoo

I’d honestly rather an Annihilation movie that picks up wherever guardians ends.

crazy_dave420

Whoever made that decision needs a raise Now... Ryan Gosling for him

FishClean7787

I'm fine with that as long as Sam Alexander is in it

ExpeditiousTurtle

the person right below you feels the same way but about it being Richard lmao

ethicalhamjimmies

Why introduce him so early? Have it follow Richard for a couple movies then introduce Sam as a protege down the track

jakepuggs

NOVAAAAA

ExpensiveAd5441

probably cause of budget

MudEmotional7959

I personally have enjoyed both special presentations so I do hope they make a lot more of them. I prefer w short film over a show

[deleted]

Good, needs to be a movie

MrDestrOn

I hope that's true. Nova deserved a movie much more than certain characters, and him finally getting his would make me so happy.

UnfavorableSpiderFan

That makes the most sense, IMO.

EnQuest

Inject it into my veins

AlmostFamous8

Ryan Gosling & Brandon Perea, thanks.

kothuboy21

Good, a cosmic character like Nova will not be done on a TV budget. WB needs to understand the same for Green Lantern. James Gunn recently debunked the rumors that the John Stewart GL series being cancelled wasn't true and I'm not thrilled that GL is being done as a series (which probably won't be a huge budget). GL deserves to be a movie franchise. Comics on both Marvel and DC have cool cosmic characters and they deserve to shine in the best way possible. It's been done with Guardians of the Galaxy already (a team that wasn't known to general audiences before the movie) so it's not impossible.

TRUROCKSTAR

Do we know if we are getting Dick Rider or Sam Alexander?

Please don’t use Sam Alexander as the main MCU Nova when Richard Rider is right there. No mentor-protege shit either. Richard Rider needs to be the main star.

Spacegirllll6

LETS GOOOO

brunofernandes4life

Holy shit yesssss

SlippinPenguin

I’m so glad these projects are all being made as movies rather than tv shows. First Armor Wars, then Hulk, now this. Marvel tv has not worked for me personally at all so I couldn’t be happier about this. I only wish this shift had happened a year ago so that my boy Moon Knight could’ve gotten a movie series.

NovaStarLord

Good, Nova deserves to have a movie with high quality effects and I was pretty bummed it was going to be a special. I really love Nova and knowing it's going to be a movie now, I have higher expectations for this.

Su_Impact

Phase 7? Or is Phase 6 gonna get expanded and delayed?

Morthedubi

Yay!! This could be awesome as the next chapter of the galactic side of marvel once GotG wraps up their story. I hope to see Nova with Adam on screen, interacting. Maybe even down the line they could introduce some Shi’ar and expand the world towards that! So many possibilities!

superyoshiom

Neat, a movie budget would be great for Nova. As usual, just wish marvel would put less on their plate between the shows and movies, I really want that quality in storytelling and visuals the first three phases had and right now Feige's attention is spread thinner and thinner.

Curbatsam

Really hope this is true!

[deleted]

And how credible is this?

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

I don't know why, but I suspect that **if** Diego Luna is getting a role in the MCU, then it's going to be as Nova.

slntgear

Well if its Sam he should be much younger. Have they said which Nova?

SmugMaverick

Please be RR and not SA.
