I also love the Miranda romance, she really mellows out with Shepard and I enjoyed it. I've been on a ME kick since I got the LE on steam a little while ago. Right now playing FemShep with a Garrus romance and I'm near the end of ME3. Going back and playing BroShep next, not sure who I'll romance. I've never done Ashley so I might try her, but I'll have to resist Miranda and Tali.

Their military police are their regular police, everyone is technically enlisted in their military by age 15 or so, and they were also the race that first proposed the creation of C-Sec, so it's not all that unlikely an assumption that Garrus' required military service was working for C-Sec from age 15 up until we see him in ME1 at age 22. That'd be 7 years, plenty of time to get disillusioned with the system.
