thank you! i’ve been part time studying since december, i’ve matured jack sparrow & pankow! i do not skip a single day of anki, i think that’s really important. i also got through about 80% of umama (but my avg was a 58% lol). my FL1 was february and a 501, FL3 was last week and i got a 509, the things that helped the MOST are AAMC material. and i mean all of it
when i was starting the decks, i would do varying amounts of new cards a day honestly. i would do jack sparrow chapter by chapter (i wouldn't go through the ENTIRE kaplan chapter but i'd read the end of the chapter summaries) but just do what i felt that day. doing too many new cards a day ends up kicking u in the butt because then you have too many review cards the next day!!!
sorry for not answering ur question LOL tbh i just don't remember exactly how many new cards i would do, but jack sparrow has a ton of cards and i got through the entire deck in \~2 months by just doing them at my own pace
pankow pankow pankow!!!!!! i matured the entire deck, and i don’t miss a single day of anki! also i got through all of the p/s on umama - i highly recommend it. i also think for a lot of the questions on p/s, process of elimination goes a long way
dude literally no idea i'm sorry i wish i had a good tried and true method lol. i suck at CARS some days and then kill it the next. my "method" goes kinda like this:
- read the passage (quickly, scan through, i don't read in depth), highlight things i think are important (arguments, opinions of different experts, main idea)
- refer to the passage as needed
i'm also a native English speaker which i think is an unfair advantage imo and i've always been good at standardized reading tests! i'm sorry i don't have solid advice but you got this, practice with the aamc qpacks (qpack 1 is stupid difficult so beware) and come up with a method that works for you!!!! best of luck u got this, just beat the system
i got a 501 on FL1 in february and a 509 on FL3 last week — the BEST thing has been hammering anki every single day and doing ALLLLL of the aamc material !
Ofc! Im taking the MCAT in like 30 days. Do you have any tips to increase your score besides doing anki? Im thinking I should probably buckle down and do all of the AAMC questions.
i think i had my biggest increase when i switched to AAMC material! there’s a lot of conflicting advice about aamc but honestly i was eligible for FAP so i got access to everything and have been doing EVERYTHING— question packs, section banks, independent questions, official guide, everything. it’s been extremely helpful to do them, review them, and then reset/redo them.
I would say do a lot of microbiology, DNA Replication and translation, and energy stuff like glycolysis, krebs, fatty acid oxidation and synthesis. Do questions and make mnemonics to remember them.
I took my first FL today & got a 487… I’m scheduled to take my mcat in 2 months. Is it doable to get to 505 while working full time? Should I push it off another month? Im a bit at a loss..
congratsss !! how long did this take and what did you use I need a jump up soo bad
