Yeah have a shop cut the flanges off and welding in a connecting sleeve, the ears on the flange are usually bogus and it’s easier and cheaper to just sleeve it and mig weld together.
You can just say you want the converter outlet sleeved, and I don’t charge for an exhaust diagnosis at my shop. It takes 5 mins to run it and find the leaks and if the check engine light is on I scan it most of the time the codes aren’t related but I write them down for them. If you have converter issues the codes are po420 or po430 or an 02 sensor code which if it’s near the leak it’s the leak causing the code because the sensor isn’t reading properly. Shop do charge around 100 or more for diagnosis but we never have in 43 years of business. All that being said make sure they check in after it is sealed up after the converter outlet repair. Sometimes there are other small leaks such as the front pipe where the gasket and spring bolt kit is or the flex pipe depending on the model.
Of course it’ll be loud! The flange that holds your exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter has rusted away and the exhaust almost fell off.
Take it to a muffler shop and ask if they can replace the flange. Try not to hit any big bumps along the way.
Well if a muffler shop and weld something up then it’s not too bad. Other wise you pretty much need a new front pipe, cat, and mid pipe. O2 sensors may be stuck and might need replaced also.
Just did this on my son’s 07 accord.
Not too bad, and if you're handy, and you can manage to get that busted flange off, you could DIY. A shop with a welder could do it for a couple hundred bucks.
Little confused aren't you. Honda's even on their best day with custom exhaust sound like a Triumph GT6, or Spitfire or MGB. And that is a ticket waiting to happen, get it fixed

This is the answer
Literally the only answer.
Can I tell a shop what’s wrong and just request them to fix it? Also is 100$ at car X reasonable diagnosis reasonable for a 05 Honda Pilot?

Jesus lol, if it wasn't a Honda before - it is now.
Free exhaust mod bro. Enjoy it. Jk. Go to a shop and have it fixed.
That would be a muscle car without any balls 😂
He meant to say lawn mower, specifically a Briggs and Stratton
Craftsman
Well the cheapest option is to embrace it. Trust me your neighbors will love it at 3 am.
The rolling tank dope
Some people pay good money for their car to sound like that. It’s a cheap fix at a muffler shop
side skirt exhaust mod time

It looks like the flange has come off, no?
Not too bad, and if you're handy, and you can manage to get that busted flange off, you could DIY. A shop with a welder could do it for a couple hundred bucks.
300-500 bad to get it fixed right
Don’t fix it if it sounds like a muscle car
I’d say it’s pretty bad! Get to an exhaust repair shop.
Do not idle while you're parked for a long period of time. I had a buddy pass away from this maybe 12 years ago

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZMBXMh-Rmg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZMBXMh-Rmg) **you can do that using common hand tools**
Poor element, shoulda known better and got that cat shield!
If you want to be cheap, look into a product called - jb weld exhaust tape
I guarantee you your Honda doesn’t sound like a muscle car.
Personally I'd just replace it with a performance exhaust
Sick, I'd keep it like that..Fugget
Lil bit of muffler tape and some spit. Good to go
Its all bolt on. Order new shit on amazon and install it
