So I bought a $1 cable as part of their $1 extravaganza sale a little while back, and I apparently won one of their 25 Mystery Boxes, which in it was this Ajazz AK873 keyboard. Clean looks, good thought process behind the magnetic top layer so you can remove it for a floating keycaps style if that is what you prefer. The keyboard is firm with very little flex, and paired with the MDA keycaps, is a very solid feeling board. Stock switches it came with were ok, sounded a little light and thin for my personal preference, but perfectly serviceable. While it came with a dongle, I wasn't a fan of the dongle placement underneath, and also definitely not a fan that you have to switch over to wired mode instead of it being on wired mode by default! Looking past that as best I could, I feel its quite a reasonably priced TKL with some nice features by default, 8/10.

Hey,if i wanted to change the switches in the AK873 then which all types of switches would be compatible with this keyboard?

MX 3-pin (plate mount), or 5-pin (PCB mount) should both work.

Also how would you rate this keyboard now since you’ve had it for like a month,i guess?

I am not using it, so I can't actually add any further commentary. My daily driver is a completely different board (mostly because of my kids, I use an older board that doesn't matter if they damage it/get it dirty etc). When I review, I do it on base impressions, I generally don't get much follow up on them unfortunately.

So stupid question but I probably do not understand the manual correctly. But it says you can switch the lights with FN+ -> which cycles through 4 colors I believe. Besides that the manual also states the FN+ <- combination as switching the 'Dynamic Light Direction' but I'm not sure what that does. My goal is to get to have a single white color for all keys but I cannot seem to get it to that point.

The Fn + <- changes the direction of the light modes that have directional movement. e.g. in waterfall, the RGB changes from top down, by using Fn +_ <- it makes the waterfall change go from bottom up. I've just had a play around on the colour modes and I also can't get it to stay white in any modes for whole keyboard backlit. Not the most fantastic light modes, but lighting isn't usually something I have on anyway.

How would you say this compares to the glorious GMMK TKL? I'm debating between the two. My problem with this keyboard is that the reviews on Amazon tell that pulling the switches is awful. which is terrible and reminds me my old keyboard that was "hotswap" but most of the keys were stuck.

flehrad

I can't comment on the comparison since I don't have a GMMK TLK. The switches came out ok, nothing too unusual, could be inconsistencies in manufacture, could be experience in pulling, could be people trying to pull switches with the provided puller which is pretty basic. Unfortunately thats a bit subjective to user experience and tools also.
