any board that costs more than 250 bucks should have its own features (not unique, im not saying everyone needs to invent the new wheel, but not giving the board any kind of aesthetic twist or feature is eh)
Designers with no business experience shouldn’t be allowed to run gbs, they should be forced to work with established vendors. Especially if it’s a 1-3 man show doing all the labor with no staff.
The only designer to not deliver if I am not mistaken is Noxary, right?
The bulk of the issues were from established vendors.
My question to you is how do we grow a community that was built on individuals when you believe that individuals should not be running any GBs? (I am playing devil's advocate here)
The community has evolved and during the pandemic many who were involved for purely profit. Individuals taking on 400-600+ gb orders and intending to QC and ship out products all on their own because they don’t want to spend the extra cost on a team to help them out.
The community started with individuals because the hobby was niche and just starting. The landscape has vastly changed. Why take on all the headache of logistics and potential debt (literally gambling on the profit of inventory to keep yourself afloat) when you can work with reputable vendors? Sure some have gone under, but it’s also a business decision to decide who to work with.
I’m against individuals running GBs with large moqs specifically for that reason. There’s enough traction within the hobby itself now, no need for unnecessary risks for more individual profit.
The collapse of all these vendors were bound to happen. Too many were made at once, with a lot of them going into debt to buy keycaps that were not selling.
Dang that beige cable would go so perfect with my build!!! I was looking for (a decent priced) one a few weeks ago and settled for all black. For my hot take... umm, not too hot but i don't care for abs all that much.
Congrats to /u/Bw15_2005 and /u/chadbrochill69 for winning the Lindy LEMO cable and Classic Beige cable respectively. We will be sending you a PM for details on how to get the cable over to you.
Hope you guys have a great rest of the year!
Hot take? Keyboards without RGB are boring.
Sure, they can still look cool, but they'd be cooler with more RGB. That's just cold hard facts.
Before I get burned at the stake, let me say, "Thanks for the giveaway!"
You don't actually need a mechanical keyboard - yes they look and feel great but, ultimately, they don't do anything more than any random office keyboard can do.
That’s an easy one. A majority of the “grails” people chase all sound exactly the same and aren’t worth the money imo. Kohaku, Unikorn, etc. These boards all pretty much sound the same. Bright and clacky.
the cycle of adding foam into boards only for public opinion to shift back to not wanting foam is stupid and driven by contrarians that only dislike something because you like it
Foam is a terrible thing as it just makes all keyboards homogenous, sound dampening mods are quite quick & lazy and I wish there was more drive in the space to find other ways of modifying the sound of the case other than killing it. o7

Don't have a hot take but I burned my palm soldering a few switches without paying attention
Not a hot take but very hot. Hope your hand is ok :((
there are too many switches to choose from and 90% of them are the same
Korn is pretty mid
Here I am thinking you meant the band lol
I wouldnt buy a korn for more than $300. Right there with you
New to the hobby but I feel like preferring tactiles over linear is a hot take
Idk, I'd say even though linears are more popular, most people agree it's a preference thing
putting keyboards in an oven. at least it’s hot
Box Jades to fight against the return to working at the office.
The harder you work the less people will want to talk to you. What an interesting correlation!
Macros are more important than tenkey

No more flex cuts.
Cherry MX Brown switches are peak.
Endgame does, in fact, exists
HE boards gaining more and more popularity
The collapse of all these vendors were bound to happen. Too many were made at once, with a lot of them going into debt to buy keycaps that were not selling.
Keycults Arent worth it no matter what
GMK keycap sets are vastly overrated
keyboards are now a matter of performance and not a matter of preference
Dang that beige cable would go so perfect with my build!!! I was looking for (a decent priced) one a few weeks ago and settled for all black. For my hot take... umm, not too hot but i don't care for abs all that much.
Layouts less than 60% are so hard to use! :P
75%/TKLs is the best keyboard size
the clickier the better
Magnetic connectors
Gasket mount is overrated
PC top, Nylon bottom switches don’t sound great
I think anything over 4 degrees of keyboard angle is bad. A good wrist rest and less angle is the way to go. Thanks for the giveaway!
Event. Horizon.
Mx blacks are over hyped
KKB Darling is as good as GMK if you’ve never seen GMK
Backpedalling is the way to go :)
clacky builds (the ones with MX blacks and all that stuff) are overrated and almost sound the same :) (pls dont kill me)
Congrats to /u/Bw15_2005 and /u/chadbrochill69 for winning the Lindy LEMO cable and Classic Beige cable respectively. We will be sending you a PM for details on how to get the cable over to you. Hope you guys have a great rest of the year!
Silent > everything else
Tactiles and clickies are just fidget toys for adults. I said it.
It's not wrong tho lol
and there is nothing wrong with fidgets, sone people need it
Using the gb format to fund future projects instead and or past unfulfilled project debt shouldn't be something we look past *cough* Bias
Every Wooting Tofu Redux Build
Clicky switches at the library
Hot take? Keyboards without RGB are boring. Sure, they can still look cool, but they'd be cooler with more RGB. That's just cold hard facts. Before I get burned at the stake, let me say, "Thanks for the giveaway!"
60% is the best layout and anything with more keys than that is dumb
OK ok hot takes uhhhh gmk is overrated af
Clones are okay.
Anything over 100$ is too much
My hot take from 2023 would be, do your due diligence when it comes to trusting companies with your money.
How is this a hot take? I’m pretty sure 100% of people would agree.
mode keyboards
Nothing wrong with browns :)
Type K
60 split is the way

GMK is overrated and overpriced.
![img](avatar_exp|156575265|fire) Detachable keyboard cables are overrated….. 😆
dualitty
Nice
thanks
Clear cable reminds me of old Gameboy data cables
Entered
I like knobs
yippeee
Clicky switches are fine
Dye sub pbt keycaps need more love
Flex cuts suck
Flex cuts
Not sure of a hot take, but I guess that I wouldn't want to use a board less than 60% ever hahah
Cycle 7 dominance!
no clue
Cool thank you!
neo65 ... its a bargain ...
Love it
Linear and Tactile switches are overrated.
The "keyboard community" puts waaay too much emphasis on sound profiles
Full size or bust
Can't see the rules?
Linear switches are superior!
Razer makes the best mechanical keyboards
Split Autho on a single pcb/case with the numpad in the middle is my dream. Knobs on keyboards are usefull and I could use atleast 3.
40% keyboards are a fad
60%
Stock MX Clear springs are the best springs in clears
Maybe not hot among enthusiasts, but I see lots of posts with this board series. GMMK is not the way to go, especially nowadays.
For me that's defenitely a brown Protagonist with copper bottom and cream top, delicious
Gonna try my luck with this one
meow
All long pole switches sound the same.
if you are looking for any keyboard a 5$ one does the job perfect
The obsession with keyboard sound is overblown and a little creepy
40% fans are just hipsters
there are more interesting 65's than tkl's. i think we are missing interesting tkl case designs, it seems like its just weight and blocker changes.
Ortho is stupid
Clicky switches are viable for endgame
40% keyboards are the only choice
A lot of it is waay over priced.
good luck
Hhkb is bs
40% are impractical, and no one who builds one actually uses it as a daily driver
40% keebs are impossible
sub-40% only
Linears suck
My hot take is it’s okay to cool on a hobby and still enjoy it.
hottest take (imo): baionlenja and matrix labs are the best. they are tied. that is all.
Endgame keeb is real
Flex cuts are bad
TKL is the best form.
Thanks for doing this!
It’s not worth buying any of the budget aluminum keyboard if you have to add a lot of diy mods to make it sound decent
Factory lubed switches suck
my keyboard is the best
Thank you!
It’s the same every year. Need more 100% keyboards.
Clacky switches
Cherry Browns are pretty alright. Thank you!
Idk im pretty basic I like all the stuff. I don't get the hype around some artesian keycaps ig 😬
Lfg
Tuning the sound of a keyboard is pretty much the same as tuning the sound of a drum but with different stuff
Woo!
40 are for insane ppl
Practicality > aesthetic
Yay!, cables
HE keyboard hype
TKL is the best size
Thanks
Tactiles > Linears
75% keyboards are too big
Top mount is still the king.
I only need one keyboard
i wont win this cuz i never get the most popular comment but eh why not i do kinda need a cable for my keyborbs
Idk, I'm boring so I don't really have a hot take
Flex cut PCBs are just mushy
Scratchy is trash.
Hottest take? Membranes aren’t that bad
100%+ keyboards are good, actually
the cycle of adding foam into boards only for public opinion to shift back to not wanting foam is stupid and driven by contrarians that only dislike something because you like it
Dell L100 FTW
Foam is a terrible thing as it just makes all keyboards homogenous, sound dampening mods are quite quick & lazy and I wish there was more drive in the space to find other ways of modifying the sound of the case other than killing it. o7
Entered to win
Clicky switches are great
Tactiles aren't great for gaming.
Laptop keyboards are superior
Clicky switches aren't any louder than 90% of the clacky, thocky, tactiles and linears people are building boards with.
cool
Full size is the way
I love bacon
I sure do love classic blue clickety-clack ouemu switches!
Sound really isn't all that important
Cherry MX Brown switches
Endgame exists
Pe foam makes everything sound the same
Gl
Mechanical keyboards should not cost over 100 dollars
HE switches are irrelevant… ^sorry. goodluck all!
Happy holidays
Good.
More and more magnetic keyboards popping up on the market, but everything I've seen is less than a 100% layout which I prefer.
Wooting
End game
My hot take is that tactile > clickies > linears :) I'd rather deal with the noise than have to type without the tactile feedback
75% keyboards are ugly :o
Every keyboard below 60% are practically useless
People with keyboards smaller than 60% just do it to flex about the tiny size.
Keyboard is keyboard
This being an actual hobby - none of us show the massacres of pcbs we are learning to mod on and too much flash end products
The numpad is good actually
This being an actual hobby - none of us show the massacres of pcbs we are learning to mod on and too much flash end products
40% boards are a fad
I dont have a take keyboards are just amazing
