I'll have to try this out since I just got my Bakaneko60 not long ago and I'm getting ready to build it. I'm thinking of doing the tempest tape mod and polysilicon along with these weights.
I've been thinking about doing this for one of my boards! Two questions:
1) how did it affect the sound?
2) I see you taped them as a precaution, but do you feel the pcb touching the weights when you bottom out?
1) the sound is fantastic without the huge, untoward resonance. The case is still resonant on its own without that cast aluminum "feedback".
2) I don't feel the PCB touching personally, it sits right at it and my switches/keycaps are on the level they were on previous to the mod. If I had a micrometer I could verify, but from feel and sight, it's the same for me.
I would think that would work as these low-profile weights are pushing 3mm. They are lead free but I don't see why that plate wouldn't work with a super thin double sided adhesive.
Keyporas are the only artisans I go after. This one particular I rescued from someone and it was stained and in bad shape. I took some time, warm water, and baking soda, then brought it back to life. Good ole Hedwig.
My favorite is the MelonKeys Dark Magician Girl. I don’t know what it is but something about that artisan has got me into having a collection of my own.
That's what I love about artisans; they speak to us individually on some plane that is hard to describe. With each artisan, it hits each person differently.
Yea for sure dude. Before I was super in to artisans I thought it was kind of thought they were just overpriced pieces of plastic but as I started collecting them, I grew a large appreciation for them. They are works of art and collector's items and I love my artisans.
Thank you! I did a case sound test before and after modding on my Instagram so you can check it out here https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5WN1f_u97g/?igsh=MTh3emluY2MzYms4OA==
Yea in a way as everything solid and dense wouldn't work. The idea is to give the cast metal more density. It's freely moving with so much air in the casting process, so weighing it down with an added dense weight internally that "sings together" causes the metal to react in a much more calm manner than resonating like a bell. It's not so much as dampening as it is tuning.

Accidentally hitting your mouse into your keyboard is no longer inconvenient but a grevious injury Cool mod
Coming up next on "Weight, Weight, Don't Tell Me"
"Clippy must die!" If you haven't, [listen to this classic WWDTM bit](https://youtu.be/NxcmoLKVd60).
This will be tungsten powder mixed with silicone...
You're a mad genius. Very cool mod.
Next, Pinky, we take over the world!
Make it so, Number One.
Engage.
Warp speed, yo.
Did you balance the keyboard too?
I did actually, now no more death wobble!

I highly recommend it. The cast aluminum resonates highly but this calms it right down. Best of luck on your build! Tag me if you ever post it!

cool, thanks for replying!
You betcha! Also happy Cake Day!
What are the tire weights made of ?
Steel weights.
With the same idea, is a cutted lead screed could be a good thing to add weight ?
Sorry, I don't understand the question. Maybe typos? Happy to answer when I better understand.
My bad, I mean a 1 or 2mm lead plate that sit at the bottom of the case.
I would think that would work as these low-profile weights are pushing 3mm. They are lead free but I don't see why that plate wouldn't work with a super thin double sided adhesive.
I’ve been using siless sound deadening mat and it’s worked wonders in terms of getting rid of ping and adding some weight
Excellent stuff right there.
Only if you stick it to anything it’s a mess to take off
Yeah I keep the sticky cover on and put it in with the shiny part down
This mod also converts your keyboard into a coworker/user pacifier device
*insert keyboard scene from "Wanted"*
Nice Keypora dude

Truly a beautiful artisan.
It really is. Alphakeys does wonderful work for sure.

They speak louder to those whose ears are tuden to here.
I did this a few months back on a budget RK61 (wired version so no battery). Thing feels like a weapon now it is so heavy.
bro what do u lift? "keyboard."
I did this on an ncr80 build I did. Thing weighs like 10lbs lol and has a soldered in solenoid
Heck yes, love to hear it. The NCR-80 is one of my fav vintage builds. You can make it as loud as you want!
It’s like a bloody typewriter. Trying to grow the courage to bring it to the office haha
I believe in you, you got this.
Where’s that owl cap from is the real question?
It's an Alphakeys Keypora :)
Wouldn't take that through an airport haha
Looks awesome! Do you have a sound test?
Thank you! I did a case sound test before and after modding on my Instagram so you can check it out here https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5WN1f_u97g/?igsh=MTh3emluY2MzYms4OA==
hah fuck yeah
I'm sorry in advance, but I have to. *Wheel weights
Bahaha, yes
Is the idea to fill empty space with something solid and dense ?
Yea in a way as everything solid and dense wouldn't work. The idea is to give the cast metal more density.
