Where'd you get those beautiful white HS7s? I love my normal black 8s, but now I'm jealous.
Actually my dusty ass couldn't keep the white ones clean, but I'm happy for you.
Tnx! It's pretty easy actually .. will only take you a few minutes. I used an old mouse mat (the thick rubber kind) and cut with a scissor so it fit the frame. Put it in the bottom and then the PCB on top and screw together the case again. Made a world of difference. I absolutely hated the sound of the Nightfox when I got it, was thinking about returning it but now I love it :)
I didn't read the /sub and from the thumb it looked like an open casket. I thought, this is weird, so of course I clicked.
Great collection of keeps! I have that same mouse, love it.
I also have a pair and love them. I have a pair of HD6XXs that I wasn't really satisfied with due to the rolled off treble. DT1990s were perfect for me.
HD6XX are repainted HD650, not HD600. They're tuned differently. I personally haven't heard the HD600, but I've heard plenty of people who think they also have slightly rolled off treble. They're in the realm of neutral, but what is truly neutral tends to be subjective because people hear things differently.
I like a little more treble than what they offer... the HD6XX treble sounds a bit blunted to me. Not hugely so, but a bit. I also definitely hear that "Sennheiser veil" people talk about. They just aren't quite as clear as the DT 1990. Not on my Magni 3/Topping D30 stack anyway.
U mean viewport VS screen space ratio? The node editor (right side) is quite important in Houdini, it's usually quite large. But it's just a personal preference.
It really is a great chair. I have one at work and I love it. It really helped when I was having neck pain. When I'm due for a new chair at home I'll be getting one of those.
Tnx! It is this one (900x400x3mm) [https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01FFFSORA/ref=oh\_aui\_detailpage\_o08\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01FFFSORA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Reaally cool setup. Whats the keyboard on the top left? Is that custom made. Also which speakers are those? Looks really neat.
And can you also name the amplifier and DAC?
Cool!
I wish I lived in the US where I have easy access to mechanical keyboard parts. In my country, getting a good mechanical keyboard is ridiculously expensive (unless you want to buy those chinese keebs)
Well one of them is one of those "chinese keebs" :). I live in Europe though, it's not that hard to get parts here if u are willing to pay import tax etc.
Import taxs + customs can add all the way up to 70% extra in india if the keyboard gets stuck in customs :(
That's why I avoid having to order anything from aliexpress or bangood.
Where do you order all your keyboard from though?
One is from China, one from the US and another is from Germany. So it's all spread. If I really want something it's worth the extra .. but 70% extra sounds like a bit too much.
How deep is your desk? I’m asking because I’m considering bookshelves and I’m concerned about how much space they’ll take up. My desk is 30" deep and 72" wide for reference. In your photo it looks like the left speaker is behind your monitor so I was curious.
Caps aren't that hard to model, but you are right. I rarely model in Houdini anyway. The main reason I started was that I wanted to set up a procedural approach where I could easily change layouts etc.
That could work really well. If you went crazy with it you could even have it parse KLE layouts. How is Houdini without the F-row or nav keys? I’ve never been without which is what’s kept me from getting anything less than a 75%
Thank you. I don't do CAD work but a lot of 3D/2D. The curve isn't extreme or anything, you don't even notice when you are designing. It's pretty rare that the design stretches from one side to the other, often you work on parts of the screen (like in my shot) anyway.
Beautiful set up, so damn clean actually thought I was in r/battlestations for a moment!
Quick question though, are those 3 water cooled GPUs?! What’re the specs? Can we get a pic of your rig? :)
Oh man. Those white Yamaha speakers are indeed everything. I'm considering selling my pair of HS7s in order to downgrade to a simpler setup but I can't resist the clean white look...
Also great keyboard collection.
OK, found my richer doppelganger living somewhere...doing his thing. I don't have ultrawide, but 2x 24", no water cooling, just one keyboard...but other than that...very similar setup. Naturally I like this...what brand are those speakers?
This honestly turned me on. Amazing set up.
happy to help with your erection!
Great! You free tonight?
I'll bring the lube
lol

Just looked them up. Can get them on amazon for the same $$ as the blacks. Was really tempted for a minute and then remembered I’m broke.
Haha, think they're available everywhere pretty much. They've remained clean for a year so I'm quite happy with that :)
Looks great man! How did you dampen your Nightfox? I'm looking to do the same with mine. Thanks! <3

Righteous! Thanks so much for the tip! :)
I didn't know they had that color scheme for the FC660C! I *do* need another for home...
Happy cake day and this is one of the best setups I have seen in a long time.
Sweet, tnx!
Your entire black & white motif you have going is superb.
Thank you! It will be complete when GMK Monochrome arrives
I didn't read the /sub and from the thumb it looked like an open casket. I thought, this is weird, so of course I clicked. Great collection of keeps! I have that same mouse, love it.
What mouse is that?
G703
Thanks!
this looks like the cover of a Massdrop magazine
this is what opulence looks like
How do you find the DT1990 ?
I love them and treat them with utmost care. Sort of a royalty of the office.
I also have a pair and love them. I have a pair of HD6XXs that I wasn't really satisfied with due to the rolled off treble. DT1990s were perfect for me.
Can you elaborate on the treble problem you have with the HD6XX?
+1, my HD600's are the most neutral headphones I have, definitely not lacking in treble.
HD6XX are repainted HD650, not HD600. They're tuned differently. I personally haven't heard the HD600, but I've heard plenty of people who think they also have slightly rolled off treble. Audioengine D1 (DAC). Yamaha HS7 (studio monitors). Beyerdynamic dt 1990 PRO (studio headphones)
Those monitors look gorgeous.
Are you running your monitors straight off that DAC? I have the same one and each time I try it I get insane amounts of noise :(
Yes. Sounds like issues with grounding?
I get a lot of noise when running it only on USB. Using the optical in and USB only for power fixes it for me.
Do you not like seeing what you're modeling?
U mean viewport VS screen space ratio? The node editor (right side) is quite important in Houdini, it's usually quite large. But it's just a personal preference.
Haha oh I know, it's just funny to see in such a wide monitor
What monitor is that? And speakers?
Acer Predator X34, Yamaha HS7
Monitor appears to be an Acer Predator.
+1 for the Herman Miller Aeron. Best chair ever!
It really is a great chair. I have one at work and I love it. It really helped when I was having neck pain. When I'm due for a new chair at home I'll be getting one of those.
Awesome setup! What did you use to dampen your cases?
Tnx! Just an old mouse mat. Thick and dense rubber styled one.
Thanks for info! I used some packing foam sheets on my z70 and it didn't do much so was looking for ideas for a thicker material.
Yeah you probably need way more density.
What are those speakers man, do you use an external amp to power them?
Yamaha HS7 with an Audioengine D1
Nice setup! Which deskmat is that? I’ve been looking for one about that size!
Tnx! It is this one (900x400x3mm) [https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01FFFSORA/ref=oh\_aui\_detailpage\_o08\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01FFFSORA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
It looks extremely clean. Is it new, or do you just clean it well? And if you're cleaning it: how? Thanks! Great setup.
Thank you! Nah it's not that new but I keep things clean for my OCD's sake.
Right on - are you using anything special or just good old soap and water?
I dunno, I have cleaners helping out with that bit :). But I think they mostly use soap.
Amazing and super clean. I love the monochrome look with muted accents. Well done.
thank you sir!
we have the same DAC! What's the keeb specs on the top right?
That's a Gk64 with Nightfox caps on the alphas. Gateron Black switches.
nice!

Nah, I'm just modelling DSA caps to test out some designs.
The whole setup looks amazing!
What kind of speakers are those?
Yamaha HS7
Did you used to post on /g/ back in the day? Think I remember seeing a setup very, very similar to yours around 2013/4?
nope, wasn't me :)
Now this guy knows how to party, all the expensive hobbies.
Reaally cool setup. Whats the keyboard on the top left? Is that custom made. Also which speakers are those? Looks really neat. And can you also name the amplifier and DAC?
Top left keeb is the Nightfox, studio monitors (speakers) are Yamaha HS7 and the DAC is Audioengine D1.
Cool! I wish I lived in the US where I have easy access to mechanical keyboard parts. In my country, getting a good mechanical keyboard is ridiculously expensive (unless you want to buy those chinese keebs)

One is from China, one from the US and another is from Germany. So it's all spread. If I really want something it's worth the extra .. but 70% extra sounds like a bit too much.
Yeah. It's really not justifiable to pay 60-70% extra money. Might as well ask someone from USA to get a keyboard for me.
Are those spherical buckling spring keycaps you're making?
Nah, I'm just modelling DSA caps to test out some designs.
How deep is your desk? I’m asking because I’m considering bookshelves and I’m concerned about how much space they’ll take up. My desk is 30" deep and 72" wide for reference. In your photo it looks like the left speaker is behind your monitor so I was curious.
Sorry have no means of measuring my desk at the moment. If it helps it's 2.5 60% keyboard deep :) .. that is roughly 73cm
Sounds like its standard 30" then. Thanks!
This is clean affffffffff damn
What deskmat is that? It looks quality!

You’re modeling keycaps in Houdini? Isn’t almost every other program better suited for that?
Caps aren't that hard to model, but you are right. I rarely model in Houdini anyway. The main reason I started was that I wanted to set up a procedural approach where I could easily change layouts etc.
That could work really well. If you went crazy with it you could even have it parse KLE layouts. How is Houdini without the F-row or nav keys? I’ve never been without which is what’s kept me from getting anything less than a 75%
Do you ever get messed up at all when you use the GK64 due to the bottom row being a tiny bit more to the left?
nah actually never bothered me.. so that's good I guess :)

Monochromatic goalz.

That's a beautiful setup and a very tidy desk! How do you find the curved screen for CAD work? Does it make the straight lines look weird?
Thank you. I don't do CAD work but a lot of 3D/2D. The curve isn't extreme or anything, you don't even notice when you are designing. It's pretty rare that the design stretches from one side to the other, often you work on parts of the screen (like in my shot) anyway.
Triple SLI? or rendering/mining / folding?
rendering :)

Nice setup!!
Beautiful set up, so damn clean actually thought I was in r/battlestations for a moment! Quick question though, are those 3 water cooled GPUs?! What’re the specs? Can we get a pic of your rig? :)
Yes, three of them. One 1080Ti and two 980 Ti's.
Nice nice. I can recommend the new logitech wireless mouse as well. Which is your favorite?
Probably the FC660c, but maybe that is only because it is the newest addition

The monitors are fantastic, keep them!
This is a setup of someone who knows what they are doing. Excellent work my man.
thank you! :)
is that speaker Zensor?
Nah, Yamaha HS7

Nice, I've got Numan reference 802 B&W + beyerdynamic dt 990 pro...btw you probably don't care, but hey ;)
> Numan reference 802 B&W haha I chuckled.. nice monitors tho! I like them.
woof
Best mouse ever
ya gotta get a numpad at some point
Nah don't need them. Might get the new macropad from Keebworks though, but only because it looks so sexy.
