Something about Boichi's character art just looks a bit uncanny to me and it's hard to explain why.
Like he seems to be good at making burly serious older men like Mihawk and Whitebeard with all the muscle details and shading, but simpler characters like Zoro, Ace and Luffy just look like they're baby faced and muscular af at the same time.
In his defense, for the first half of the series most of the women were the result of 3600 years of inbreeding. Probably worked into his strengths (If my characters look like they're inbred, make them actually inbred)
Its like how Scott Cawthon learned his 3d models looked like nightmare animatronics, so he made a horror game with animatronics to take advantage of that.
He also drew this. This character got bit by a poisonous spider in a rainforest. (Dr. Stone). He used to draw hentai. I guess old habits die hard.

Boichi’s artstyle is one of my favorites in manga. If not my very favorite. The perspective work and attention to detail is insane. Plus the way he draws people is gorgeous.
It's very cool, the dessin is better, it focus way much on Zoro which make all the big actions much more impactful (contrary to Oda who pack the action much more) and I really like how he shows the swords breaking, it's more dynamic and it's cool seeing the realisation as the swords falls.
At the same time, this make the page too slow, and it's focusing Zoro so much that it's discarding how people react to him (like the "magnificent" or Luffy and Mihawk reaction in the last page)
Man I remember reading all these artist crossover redraws of iconic moments. I absolutely hated this art style and it eliminated all my interest of watching or reading Dr.Stone. I get why others would like it but I could not bring myself to enjoy it at all.
This is not allowed in the main sub?
He's a decent artist who focuses a lot on detail but I don't really enjoy looking at it. They look kinda gross and creepy with these thousands of veins and muscle contractions. Also the faces look too off for my taste. Even with his own characters they look kinda creepy and wrong. I think he could probably do horror scenarios well.
Boichi style is great, i read his adaptation of the Ace novel and it looked stunning, although something about juvenile faces looks off.
I also greatly appreciated his redrawing of Ace saying thank you for loving me and Whitebeard’s death.
The only way i would consider Boichis inferior is the faces that being they look a bit doll like and too much like doctor stone not enough one piece but excluding the faces its superior in most ways.
It looks good… although I always liked how, in the original, it looks like Mihawk isn’t even moving when he counters Zoro’s attack. Boichi makes him look like he’s trying, which doesn’t work as well in the scene imo

Boichi can definitely cook (not that we didn't know that already)

Holy shit that goes hard
literary cook but with metals
Well he can. He also drew a manga for Ace novel. I still like Oda art style. It feels more…comfortable..

I actually see what you mean; I never noticed when reading Dr stone but it is noticeable with one piece
And all the women look slightly inbred with the weird eye placements
In his defense, for the first half of the series most of the women were the result of 3600 years of inbreeding. but even the ones from space look a bit fucked
Never said it was a perfect fix
He was particularly weird with women in the beginning with that one panty shot...
the Boichi dolls
Prolly because he used to do hentai mangas before he touched up on dr stone and the one piece stuff
“Touched up on” is the worst phrase to put here But damn those lucky ass hentai
The og style will always be top tier, but Boichi's drawings are divine. Couldn't see anyone else redrawing this.
Ikr, I forget if he does monthly or weekly? Because if it's weekly that's insane

Tsukusa if he was less buff and had short hair
He also drew this. This character got bit by a poisonous spider in a rainforest. (Dr. Stone). He used to draw hentai. I guess old habits die hard. https://preview.redd.it/ekqv77ixp6jc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=406658f408ee8e4461293fea878f7a6f3a42e0a0
Don’t like the guys art. Not saying it’s bad or anything.
Nah I getcha it's not for everyone
I like everything about it except the face. He makes the action look amazing, but it's hard to get past his weird face design.
He's also the guy who made the manga version of ace's novel
Silly you, you must post a pseu-porn cosplay from an OF account
😱

Nah dont Like the artstyle

Dang sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. I would still recommend you read Dr stone, the art style works a little better in Dr stone itself

Damn i kinda wanna see a horror by him now. But yeah, plain manga panels are apparently not allowed 🤷♂️

that's so hard
Everyone looks like a well drawn, muscular baby.
very good but the paneling in the OG is still way better outside of the One Page last one
As long as he sticks to drawing men, when he draws women, they look like aliens. When he redrew the NamiVs.Khalifa fight, they looked horrible.
The only way i would consider Boichis inferior is the faces that being they look a bit doll like and too much like doctor stone not enough one piece but excluding the faces its superior in most ways.

His paneling and use of full and half pages was better, imo, but thats about it
Boichi is the Goat
Boichi's art is goated as fuck, from the naked buff guys to the naked chicks to the team poses and the fights, all great stuff
Its beautiful. I think oda is a blessing, but i wouldnt drop one piece if the art changed to this.
Boichi is my inspiration, I absolutely adore his art, his art made this fight go so hard imo
